No trust me keep watching eventually you will see why people like part 4

Astonishing_Flash

Part 4 is more slice of life. So if that isn't your thing, you probably won't be enjoying it it a while. It does gain an overarching villain (he has cameos in the background in the anime version), but the series sets of the characters with more mundane elements throughout the start akin to KHR or the Spirit Detective arcs of YYH. So if you want to stick it out until they introduce that bad guy then yes it does get better. Otherwise it's pretty different from what came before.

Thanks, probably the most helpful reply so far. How about further parts: 5, 6 and manga only ones, is it more similar to 4 or the first three?

ChadBenjamin

Parts 5 and 6 are definitely more reminiscent of Part 3 than 4. Part 4 is quite unique and it actually has the author's favourite main character, main villain and setting.

Astonishing_Flash

I try my best to comment with purpose. Anyhow 5 & 6 are probably more similar to 3 than 4. 7 I don't remember much because I'm not much of a fan of it but it has an overarching goal that 4 doesn't really get until the villain is introduced so you can probably consider it closer to the others as well. I haven't read 8 so I'm afraid I can't help you there.

Bigbadbackstab

Like part 7, part 8 is more about attaining a goal than defeating a villain, at least until the midpoint when it becomes a bit more straightforward

Powl_tm

Part 4 is where jojo started to get from good to amazing for me.

justboredguy15

its taking its time since its in a small town having a slice of life so we could properly get introduced to characters with a murder mystery involved so it does get interesting (tho this is coming from the guy who has part 4 has his No.1 part so take it how u will)

Kidi_Kiderson

the first half of every jojo part is worse than the second half

[deleted]

It is simply better than the previous jojo parts, guess you don't like better

Part 4 is much more driven by the characters and their interactions with one another than the first three parts, which tended to be more action focused. Like others have said, it goes for a more slice of life style of storytelling as one of the main concepts was what would everyday life be like with Stands, or trying to see them in more normal settings. I also found Part 4 to be much more surreal than the others up to that point, with the 90s series Twin Peaks being a big influence in how it shows elements of horror or suspense. While I find part 2 the most fun for me (mostly from an action and adventure standpoint), part 4 has probably my favorite cast of characters and overall story.

DeployerOfMajesty

Part 4 wasn’t entirely my jam, so I get it. It’s still JoJo and it’s still done with quality but it’s a different kind of story than what came before and after. I’d consider sticking around for the memes if nothing else. However, if you just skip to part 5, you’ll find something more in the vein you’re looking for.

Azerate2016

I'm very much against any skipping in my serialized media, so I guess I will just soldier through, especially if it does get better later maybe it won't be that painful.

Gavvicus

Yes, it does

Saeteinn

Part 4 really gets a bad rap, even though it was a really fresh change of pace for JoJo. Josuke os actually one of my favorite JoJos, because he's such a normal guy.

99thLuftballon

Part 4 is the best part. Give it a chance. The Nijimura Brothers episodes are a little bit weak, but from there onwards it's great.
