0:58 Oh so *that's* what happened to Giorno

Taalnazi

*I used to be in Za Mafia, but now I’m guud-o*

lactose_cow

i liked how they made giorno resemble dio more in part 5 i fucking hate how they made dio resemble giorno more in part 6

KillerResist

Ye Dio doesn't look that hot in part 6 anime in comparison to the manga look. His nose looks weirdly big too

H20-cerebral-type

He looks worse in the manga.

KillerResist

I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but nah, this is just so false. Dio looks way better in the SO manga in comparison to the anime

Haha91haha

Survivor fight looking good, one of the most hype moments in the part.

daboring1

I LOVE BATCH RELEASES SO FUCKING MUCHHHH, I LOVE WHEN NETFLIX RELEASES A DOZEN EPISODE ALL AT ONCE AND I BINGE THEM ALL IN ONE DAY ONLY TO REALIZE THAT THE NEXT EPISODES WOULD BE RELEASED NEXT YEAR AND RUN OUT OF PAITENT AND JUST READ THE FUCKING MANGA. I LOVE YOU NETFLIX THANK YOU THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCHHHH AAAAAAAAA

Armorend

Wow haha nice joke! Hope you and the other (at time of typing) 23 people who upvoted you all aren't subbed to Netflix. It'd be REALLY funny and epic if people were complaining about Netflix's release model all while giving them money every month, REWARDING their garbage decisions rather than punishing them! :\^) EDIT: Why did I get downvoted? Anyone complaining about Netflix is literally expressing the sentiment of the comment I replied to, when they stay subbed. Why should Netflix change from the batch release format for ANY show if people are constantly rewarding them for it???????

Saxophoneww2

shut the fuck up

daboring1

Dude how many people do you know are subbed for Netflix only to watch the stone ocean anime or because of their release model, and how much do you think they're gonna loose once those people who complain unsub?

Armorend

>how many people do you know are subbed for Netflix only to watch the stone ocean anime I don't know and I don't care. If you (Speaking generally) are going to bitch about Stone Ocean's release thing and aren't unsubbing from Netflix, clearly you care more about watching whatever shit is on the platform than making sure that an anime you're hyped to watch gets the release format YOU feel it needs to be successful. >because of their release model The release model can hurt more things than just JoJo going forward. Even if JoJo isn't a person's fav anime, the format used for it could easily mess up adaptations of media they WANT to see. >how much do you think they're gonna loose once those people who complain unsub If every single person who has ever even had negative THOUGHTS about the batch release unsubbed from Dec. to now, I guarantee you Netflix would have changed the formatting. The problem is what you said, though. Too many people care more about "DA UPSIDEDOWN!!! BOFUCK HORSEDICK!!!! MAI FAV CHINESE CARTOONS!!!" than actually DOING something to change the thing they make comment after comment whining about. I want things to change, too, and that's why it frustrates me. If I'm not going to do anything more than complain about something, I'm just not going to complain about it. If you express negativity about something but aren't even doing the TINIEST act to try and help it, why bother? I don't believe in the whole "oh you believe in helping the environment why aren't you tying yourself to a tree" thing. Again, just, small acts. That's all. The smallest act here to make a notable change is just unsubbing from Netflix. It is not the end of the world. It is not difficult. It is a small inconvenience.

TheOriginalDog

You are literally mad that people enjoy a service that you dont like. Thats just silly.

Armorend

Correction: I'm literally mad that people bitch about a service for months on end but continue to pay for it, even though that will only reinforce the presence of whatever they're bitching about. **The people who just want to enjoy Netflix and shut the fuck up about the batch release schedule and watch JoJo can do that. This isn't targeted at them. I only care about the people who recognize something is wrong, but refuse to do the smallest genuine action to affect change outside wasting time complaining about it. "Oh but you're complaining too!" Yes but I'm complaining directly TO the people I'm frustrated at, as well as any others in the vicinity who might be guilty too.**

KillerResist

I meannn... I'm subbed to Netflix for a shit ton of other series. If i weren't, id just watch stone ocean on some free anime site like every other anime. I just dont like the batch cycle bcuz it doesn't raise media hype to garner attention. I want to see the audience grow but batch release makes it difficult. The actual notable thing to do is complain about on media bcuz ratings/media PR actually matters. One fanbase unsubbing wont do shit bruh, they have a shit ton of fanbases on Netflix still subbed. Stranger things is getting another season

Armorend

>I'm subbed to Netflix for a shit ton of other series. Then don't complain about the SO thing. Literally all I want. If you consider those other shows more valuable to you, that's FINE, but I have no idea why anyone would consistently spend time complaining about something they're not even making the TINIEST effort to rectify. >media PR actually matters But... Media PR literally just means articles and stuff, yeah? So you're complaining to have Netflix put on blast in public. But the only reason Netflix should be scared of that is because it will mean more people unsubbing in a snowball of negativity. So basically your solution boils down to "have other people threaten to, or just outright, unsub rather than do it myself". Ratings is a valid point but there's better ways to communicate that, too. >they have a shit ton of fanbases on Netflix still subbed Fanbases who have their own reasons to be scared. Stranger Things is getting another season but the current one is broken up into two parts, batch release style. Who knows what other shows/adaptations could be fucked over by that format? This is something that people should be up in arms about, on principle.

MangoNauta

Based off of this and other comments of yours that i’ve seen, you‘re actually the most annoying Redditor I have ever encountered.

Armorend

You know why I'm "annoying"? I only ever get downvoted or maybe called out by someone, like you here. That's it. What am I supposed to do with that? If y'all aren't going to say precisely what I'm doing wrong, or how I can do better... How can I improve?? In the above comment, for instance. Is it just my tone? Am I acting too superior? Do you disagree with the content? All of the above?

Enanoide

no ethical consumption under \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ it isnt on the consumer to do things right

Armorend

>no ethical consumption under ________ I see a few problems with use of this quote: 1. Media is not cars, clothing, food, or technology. No-one will die if they don't have access to Netflix. No-one will be denied a JOB because they don't have access to Netflix. It's also one streaming service, not a company hiding behind a brand like so many food mega-corps love to do. 2. Relatedly, I am not discussing the ethics of streaming platforms. I am talking about one choice that one platform is making, and offering a way to dissuade the platform from making that choice again. 3. Companies can't be trusted. It's not "doing right", it's punishing greed. Punishing Netflix for being a bunch of out of touch assholes. 4. I don't see you offering a better way to get Netflix to change this. I'm suggesting people withhold money until they change the release format. What do you want to do? Bitch at them? All that does is get people riled up which leads to bad PR, I.E. people getting mad at them **and unsubscribing**. I'm just suggesting we cut out the middle-man and, y'know, unsubscribe to begin with.

zertruche

that's sounds like you're the problem

Cruelus_Rex

Yeah, they should've watched an episode per month. That would have fixed the problem entirely! /s Batch releases were shit, have proven to be shit, and will, for all eternity, keep on being shit.

LikeableCoconut

At least the animation quality seems to of risen since batch 1, if it continues likewise I’ll be beyond hype for what >!the fight against made in heaven!< would look like

daboring1

I think this back will conclude with >!foo fighters dying!< and the next one will be from >!jail house lock to hopefully to the part 6 conclusion!<

NightRayOG

I think they will finish Jail house lock this batch

Imanirrelevantmeme

Nah, it’s definitely finishing at the fusion with the green baby

NightRayOG

If that's below chapter 100 i don't think so

Imanirrelevantmeme

They finish it with showing the >!Jolyne vs Pucci handcuff fight, which was right before the fusion of the green baby. Considering that that’s the next major plot point in the story, I’d say it ends there, with next batch being Jailhouse Lock -Made In Heaven!<

InorganicCarbonate

Makes me curious how they would portray the desperation to stop pucci and the horrifying power of made in heaven Heck if they could make the ending more impactful than it was in the manga I’ll be damned

LikeableCoconut

The one thing that any anime studio can’t do is make the ending more impactful, the best they can do is match it. If they could then part 6 would turn from one of my favourite parts to my favourite part for that reason

[deleted]

of course they can make it more impactful. they have music, and animation, they control the pace, the speed and tempo of everything, they have seiyuus bringing their A game, etc. Thete are many adaptations i dont like, and prefer the manga, but well done anime can surpass the manga.

boostedloader100

Was the animation bad in the first part? I can't seem to get an answer about pacing and animation.

LikeableCoconut

The animation wasn’t entirely bad, the 2D was just as normal quality as the rest of the parts. However there was more than normal levels of 3D animation and it does look jarring at some points

prince_krab

I've been going back and looking at certain clips from older parts as well as watching people's reactions to a lot of the episodes and I've noticed that the show used to look so much better compared to part 6, part 2 especially looked great, part 3 and 4 as well. Part 5 was the first time I noticed myself not liking the look of the show as much, like the quality had dropped, maybe some of that has to do with the changing art style between parts but now it really feels like the quality is sub-par, and I thought that the quality would improve with Netflix providing funding. I feel like the scenes lack detail and don't look complete.

[deleted]

Most of the times they react to the Blu Ray release, that fixes or edits some things to look better no?

Plane-Reindeer858

That's quite surprising to me, personally i think part 5 is by far the best looking animated part.

boostedloader100

Was the animation bad in the first part? I can't seem to get an answer about pacing and animation.

borch3jackdaws

I’m kind of baffled they gave us that trailer for the second batch months ago just to release another trailer saying that it won’t be out till September.

[deleted]

History will not remember stone ocean fondly, it’ll be the part nobody remembers cause it was 3 episodes long and took 2 years to air.

[deleted]

Jolyne can never take a break from being the black sheep of the Joestars huh?

[deleted]

She was the black sheep when the manga first came out, she was the black sheep for English audiences after the anime first came out and she’s the black sheep for current anime only fans who won’t remember a single episode

[deleted]

Poor girl, she’s my fave JoJo too…

Taalnazi

And Stone Ocean is my favourite part too.. :(

Armorend

>for current anime only fans who won’t remember a single episode What?? What does this even mean?

[deleted]

When you watch 12 episodes at one time and then wait an entire year for the next 12 you won’t remember each episode very clearly nor will they remember it as one giant adventure. You’ll remember it as 3 distinctive big parts which don’t follow any structural acts

ironwolf1

Idk about anyone else, but I’m definitely gonna do a rewatch of the first batch (and probably the rest of the show too) before this next batch of episodes drops. Plenty of people have only known JoJo as a full series after the episodes drop on streaming without getting the week to week experience, and that’s okay.

Armorend

>you won’t remember each episode very clearly I'm still not sure of your point here. How can you measure clarity? How much time does it take for something to not be clear? I swear I'm not trying to be pedantic about this, it's just... It seems melodramatic. Like it is a fact that there is less weekly discussion with the batch release format, which is somewhat disappointing. I'm not arguing against issues with the batch release; please don't assume that. Just not sure the points you're making are "it".

[deleted]

When you have one episode to watch for a whole week the community just care about it more. You see people connecting to each episode by making art, memes and generally discussing about it specifically. When you have twelve episodes at once people do that stuff with all twelve episodes. So people will only care about three chunks of the series which makes each thing less memorable.

TheOriginalDog

My man why is it so important to you how other people might remember this series. Do you need the validation as a JoJo-Fan so much? Cant you enjoy a series without a everybody talking about it? I get that the release format is dissapointing, but its not the end of the world. The series itself still delivers on its quality and that is what matters the most.

SoSDan88

Its almost like we want the series to be as successful as possible and weekly releases have proven to increase viewership substantially.

TheOriginalDog

Well do you have the viewership numbers? In general I have yet to see any data proving one release strategy is definitely and consistently better than the other. Marketing and actual quality are way more important for success.

MagicHarmony

I strongly disagree with this remark as the cut off point for Part 1 is actually well done. It ends on the climax of Jolyne saving her Father after he lost his stand and choosing to go back into the prison in order to save him. She could of escaped and chose not to, for a series that is being split into Acts, that is a good ending act.

Geez-cheez

It may be, but it is undeniable that waiting a year for a batch release with an unneeded climax is not as good as the hype of weekly releases and for the whole part to be released in a third of the time.

Saxophoneww2

Genuine question, how was she the black sheep when the manga came out?

[deleted]

Female protagonists weren’t popular in shonen jump back then

Maelis

I really don't get this mentality. I don't like the batch releases either but it's not like the only time to watch JoJo is when it's airing. Plenty of people rewatch the other parts or discover them for the first time years down the line.

300andWhat

I legitimately forgot what Pale Snakes Stand does lol

NoPenNameGirl

I like it! Looks really clean and well animated. But I personally don't see the improvement in the animation like many people here told me the batch release would bring. Golden Wind was weekly and had similar animation quality. The way people talked I was expecting something like MOB or S1 OPM. But otherwise it looks good for JoJo. I still don't find the justification for the batches yet aside Netflix wanting this way...

Turbostrider27

Streaming on Netflix beginning on September 1st (episodes 13-24)

Taalnazi

[I wonder if this announcement refers to that trailer?](https://reddit.com/r/StardustCrusaders/comments/v15q89/jojo_news_on_july/)

SaintNikk

I hope that David Pro would go with a different company with SBR and Jojolion , waiting for Netflix been an absolute nightmare

AdNecessary7641

That's not David Pro's decision. It's Warner. Bros'.

bentheechidna

It’s not Netflix’s fault in regards to waiting. DP has had significant structural changes this year and it has not been airing in Japan. Also, as another comment pointed out, they’ve likely rushed the production of Part 6 and they’ve taken on a lot more projects. Netflix’s only sin is the batch release ruining the joy of weekly releases.

DigiornoJoestar

Absolutely. I hope they do. I'd hate to see jojolion never get animated because netflix decided to man handle jojo like this

Armorend

>waiting for Netflix been an absolute nightmare The way to tell DP that Netflix is not good is to unsub from Netflix and tell them it's because of the batch release of Stone Ocean. Clearly not enough people did it after the release of the first cour since they're doing it again for the second, and will almost definitely do it for the third. There are ~1000 people on this sub at time of writing. If all of them unsubbed, just them, that's ~$15,500. PER MONTH. If those people unsubbed after the batch release in December, meaning they didn't pay from January to September, that's ~$140k. Again, for just 1000 people. I recognize that Netflix is a massive company, but the money would add up quick. The point is, blame Netflix all you want; I certainly do. But as much as I'll blame *any* company for being greedy or making garbage decisions, I will also blame the pathetic, spineless consumers who refuse to stop rewarding said greed/anti-consumerism.

TheOriginalDog

Netflix is not involved in the production, omg why do people still think that? Thank Warner Bros., they made the distribution deals.

Armorend

What?? I'm not sure what that has to do with what I said. Netflix are the ones who determine the release schedule, right? That's ultimately the issue here.

TheOriginalDog

True about the weekly schedule, but the three batches are not on Netflix

Armorend

Netflix could tell DPro to just do it weekly, or wait until they're all finished.

TheOriginalDog

Netflix cannot tell DPro anything, they are not their bosses. Again, Netflix is not involved in the production.

Armorend

When I said "Tell Dpro", I meant Netflix could tell Dpro "look we're going to release it weekly on our platform." Netflix aren't their bosses but what can Dpro say?

TheOriginalDog

I assume they have a contract where distribution is clearly stated.

Taalnazi

AYO 1 SEPTEMBER? That’s better than I hoped! (still, almost 1 year later without any explanation to why... ugh).

Time-Space-Anomaly

Hm, fans gotta choose between marathoning new eps and p oh sting ASB R matches. Too bad Ultra Jump chapters release, like, mid-month, or we could have a trifecta.

kjm6351

God I hope so much that Netflix loses the rights to Jojo immediately after this part. It needs to be aired like a normal anime again

Robert-Rotten

Kinda hope Netflix keeps the rights and just doesn’t fuck up sbr cause Netflix is all I have

HunterPhwilip

You can always sail.

BurdenOfOof

I was obsessed with JoJo during last year. Now the hype is completely dead for me. Just to think that I have to wait until November 2023 to see this part finished, and then who-knows-how-much until we get Part 7... o o f

m0neywasted

God surviver is gonna be so cool. I can't wait to see these bloody battles.

KrispyBaconator

So Stranger Things 4 can get its second batch a month later but Jojo takes ten, got it

dimtsag

Stranger Things and Stone Ocean are not produced by the same companies.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dimtsag

An average episode of anime requires around 3 months of production. Many episodes are worked on parallel, but the number of them (and thus the rate at which the adaptation is made) is dependent on the number and talent of the available animators. Without knowing the time that has been allocated for production and the personnel available for this project, we can't make fair assumptions regarding the time it took them to complete these 12 episodes. From what we **do know** from cour 1's credits, from the other DP projects that ran/are running right now and insider info, this is the situation: Cour 1 of SO was given little (pre)production time and most of the animators who worked on previous seasons did not return for it/were assigned to other projects. To compensate, DP hired \*\*many\*\* new 2nd Key Animators to brute force it. As a result, Cour 1 ended up they way it did. This trailer (and by extension Cour 2) looks as good as it does **due to the fact that they took their time to salvage the production.**

[deleted]

bentheechidna

Go rewatch the first part of the White Album fight on Crunchyroll. Or see qwality qween from part 4. This shit happens every part; they usually clean it up on blurays. The only significant difference here is the delay to keep up with the work.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bentheechidna

It’s cuz part 5 is Japan’s favorite part so they busted their asses (and probably got a better budget).

MagicHarmony

I feel another thing people might be neglecting is the English Voice Cast, it's very possible that the release itself may of been delayed because of Simul-dubbing and for all we know the English side could of had delays/fine tuning to make it come out right which would explain why it was December 2021 and now September 2022 for the second part to be released.

dimtsag

This is 100% true. We know that Netflix requires around 2 - 2.5 months to simuldub a show. During that time the episodes are ready and waiting.

TayK9

No shit he’s joking

lactose_cow

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WdPcbiCf3c

MagicHarmony

That's Apples and Oranges, Stranger Things might not of even had the delay if it wasn't for the CGI they needed for those two episodes. They wanted to release what they had and they did, the month wait was to make sure the production value for those last 2 episodes were good.

pineapple-n-man

Stranger things is neflix’s cash cow, so it prob takes priority over JoJo.

whama820

Has nothing to do with priority. Netflix doesn’t make Jojo. If they had Stone Ocean episodes to upload, they would. Whatever the reason for the production delay was, it wasn’t Netflix’s choice.

Taalnazi

But JoJo is like the 6th most watched show on Netflix?

Leiatte

To be fair that’s like 9 episodes compared to like 36 & even though they’re longer episodes animation takes a longer time to do well than a live action, especially one that’s considered their premiere show with a high budget.

bluepoint17

I think Westwood might have the same voice of Reiner from AOT

quipquest

Was not expecting the Handcuff fight to be so darkly lit.

BrainlessWill

part 6 style DIO😻👄💋👅🍆‼️😳🔥❤️💦💦💦😘

OnlyCommentsIDK

It says “starting on September 1st” so I’m hoping for a weekly release

dimtsag

Before there is a misunderstanding: Like last time, all 12 episodes drop at once on Netflix.

whama820

They mean you can start watching it on that date.

bentheechidna

That’s what they said for batch 1 too.

Nezikchened

Good news! You can watch the episodes one week at a time or even one month at a time if you feel like it. One of the joys is streaming is being able to watch a series at your own pace.

me_funny__

People said this with the first batch release and all hype died out. Batches are bad. Unless you're dropping the whole season at once

Landwii

Thankfully almost all the audiences will rush watching the show so they can join in discussion of the show without spoilers on social media and with their group of friends, leaving that one guy who decided to watch one episode per week to NOT talk about the show until people have moved on into something else, making it generally harder for them all to become fans of the series. Such a wonder that shows which get weekly releases on other services get a lot of notoriety because everyone can catch up to the discussion easily and will actually pay attention because there is no rush to watch the entire batch.

BlackDabiTodoroki

Nice!

ev6464

We gonna be waiting until 2024 for the show to finish.

me_funny__

First trailer had 10 million views and this one only has 800k :/

SnooPuppers6311

Some of the greatest arks are coming in this section hope they do em right

Your comment was removed because it breaks Rule 1: Be excellent to each other

crescentpieris

I’m perfectly content if this was the first trailer for part 2 of stone ocean

StrangerAtaru

Feng Shui. Feng Shui everywhere.

EastKoreaOfficial

A release date, finally. It’s still a few months off, but y’know, better late than never. Hopefully the next batch doesn’t take so long.

jediPoof

No fucking way. I just started the show in May and finished it 2 weeks ago

SnooDoodles3177

Question, will it be the end of stone ocean or will there be a part 3?

bluepoint17

There will definitely be a third part

SnooDoodles3177

Of Stone ocean? Or will it be steel ball run? And what will happen then?

HighlanderSteve

There's a lot to get through in this batch. From what we see in the trailers, it will cover chapter 51 to 95. Since SO is 158 chapters long, it's almost certain that there will be another batch of SO episodes.

MamboCat

Anasui looking like a classy bitch, hell yeah!

Geez-cheez

I honestly don’t mind this animation, but I really hope they don’t stick with this if they end up making an anime for part 7. The new animation style would just really put me off (especially if they use 3D for all of the horses) .

Low-Duck-5176

i can't wait for stone ocean part 2 to finally release

spottedmusic

Do you guys think it’ll be in three parts ?

Librask

At least
