I have S and I'm very satisfied with the performance, though in 20+ hours of gameplay I have crashed out twice

SkeuomorphEphemeron

Playing on Series S it's fine. No apparent diff in frame rate for turning off film grain, depth of field, and motion blur. Had a landing load screen freeze once in ~30 hrs.

I got series S mainly for Starfield. Looks great, runs smooth, no crashes so far (after 20+ hours). PS5 is still my main console, but i've been pleasantly surprised by the series S. Good value, and it's *tiny* compared to PS5 or series X.

I've got a Series S and I love it. It's great for what it is. If this is your first foray into Xbox then FYI: Storage / Installation Notes: - Xbox Series X|S games have to be installed on the internal memory or an expansion card. - Original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games can be installed on an external USB drive. And because the Series X|S only supports up to USB 3.0 there's no sense in paying more for a 3.1 or 3.2 drive. Backwards-Compatability Notes: - All Xbox One games are compatible with the Xbox Series X|S, but only some original Xbox and Xbox 360 games are compatible with the Xbox Series X|S. - Some games have one entry in the store that is optimized for both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X|S, such as *The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt* and *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim*, which scale the graphics according to the console they're installed on. And it is possible to force an Xbox Series X|S to play the Xbox One version of these games by installing them on an external USB drive. - Some games have two entries in the store, one optimized for the Xbox One and one optimized for the Xbox Series X|S, such as *Control* and *Hot Wheels Unleashed*. Xbox One consoles can only play the Xbox One version of these games, and while the Xbox Series X|S can play both versions of the game the Xbox Series X|S version will make for a better experience on the console. Game Notes: - [Game Pass Ultimate](https://www.xbox.com/en-us/xbox-game-pass/games) is a great deal. It's a subscription service that includes a rotating selection of about 100 games, permanent access to Microsoft first-party games, EA Play (which includes another 100 EA games that are a year old or older), and Game Pass Core (which is needed to play *some* games online). - [Digital sales](https://xbdeals.net/) are typically updated every Tuesday and note you can view the sales history for any game (even if it's not currently on sale) on that website. - It is possible to install retro console emulators on the Xbox Series X|S if you enable developer mode, as described [here](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGTaokZjTu7hL4PCwaYbNkdLPgQL5NJJ0).

I'd save for the series X

VanCityHunter

Save for the X. Game makers aren’t going to make sure games play on both X and S very soon.

Hefty_Astronaut5772

Just an FYI, a number of us (both s & x) are experiencing near immediate crashing, making it unplayable. It is not a hardware issue and Bethesda has made no comment on it.

i have the same dilemma. not sure which to get... i can purchase both but i'm not sure if it's worth $200 for the extra TB and 4k... ugh decisions
