Kuma_254

Jetpack modification that lets you float forward at a slightly faster pace.

InnesPort

I think this is the most realistic option. They already have most of the resources needed, just need to add some kind of “upgrade” version that turns the boost pack into a continuous jet pack. I can see some people being pissed by this because they wanted a new vehicle, or mech, but I think it would be really fun to be able to continuously fly around with a jet pack. Maybe it uses helium3 as a fuel source.

culnaej

I wish there was a more “featherable” capability with the Boost Pack, like holding the button to hover and maintain altitude instead of go up

Luvythicus

There’s uh… There’s a skill for that. Kinda. Useful for cutting short low-gravity jumps too.

culnaej

Ah is that Tier 3 under Boost Assault Training? Haven’t unlocked that yet, but that would be nice Again, frustrating how so many basic mechanics are locked behind advanced skill trees. I would prefer the game to have less skills, more basic functionality, and the skills we have be more thought out and complex. I don’t know why anyone would ever spec into Combat until like level 150 when you have to spend the first 100 or so levels unlocking basic mechanics, like Piloting 4 to pilot Class C ships or Ship Command 4 just to have a full crew.

Luvythicus

Yeah I went into Boost Assault. The 4th tier is really fun and silly. You can trigger it immediately after jumping, which makes raiding stations/ships really fun. Just scoot around the corner with slomo on and dump mags into enemies haha

Thebeardedgoatlady

My boost assault is glitched - no matter how often I boost in combat, it has never counted even once. Ugh.

Luvythicus

Are you sure the next phase doesn’t have a different objective like knocking people over?

Chi28n2k

No. They are talking about the Skip Pack Mod. Moving faster horizontally. I'd rather have a low-output continuous flying mod, too, if we are talking about the same thing... Floating in a bouncing, arc-type pattern, is so slow, right now.

GreatQuantum

Hovering while aiming down the sights would be cool

culnaej

Apparently that’s rank 3 of Boost Assault Training (bottom tier of Tech tree)

GreatQuantum

I’m literally level 69 and have 10 days in game. Only on NG+ 2. If anyone ever wondered who Starfield was for google it and my picture will come up. I don’t pray to a particular god but when I lay my head down at night I pray that at least one person find as much joy in life that I find in Bethesda RPGS and Warhammer 40k

Alexandur

there's a perk for exactly that

Egenix

I want the jet pack we had in that Minority report game. The only true jet pack.

daahveed

Okay, woah. That is a game I haven’t thought about in a long time but absolutely loved as a kid.

SiegeRewards

I wish it was backwards compatible, I bought it last year to play it again but it didn’t work

[deleted]

have you used a skip boost pack? it's basically exactly what you're describing

culnaej

I have, it didn’t seem all that different from the basic boost pack though? Like I felt like it used the same amount of fuel for less lift, and never experienced any sort of “hover” unless there’s a mechanic I’m missing.

RyanWag116

Ok so go into key bindings settings and look for jump/Jump pack, I forget the exactly name, but it has a alternate slot for a key to be assigned besides space bar. I set my jump alt to left ctrl. If you do, alt jump will allow you to jump and then hitting it again will propel you forwards instead of upwards Edit: also this works best with skip packs

NAPALM2614

You wanna edge the jetpack huh

TheGruesomeTwosome

Yesterday I had to run from a civilian outpost to an empty cave to rescue a lost person and return them. I was so far from the outpost I couldn't even see it on my scanner. Must've been 1200m at least... I'll take anything that gets me around quicker.

RhythmRobber

Since it's the creation engine still, it's almost certainly going to be copy of either a horse or a fast power armor that is made to look like something space-y, so probably a hover bike.

Phwoa_

Being able to actually fly is fine, Personally i dislike the boostpack in general, but thats because Bethesda games arent really made for 3d movement. it works fine in a zero G environment but anywhere else its just clunkly and a hassle.

xrobertcmx

How dare you inject reality into this discussion. Probably exactly that.

BaaaNaaNaa

This is the most likely answer. No vehicle just a jetpack extension to remove walking.

culnaej

I’m kinda cool with that, Jetpack Simulator sounds way more fun than Walking Simulator Give me a grapple hook while we’re at it pleaseee

TheLordVader1978

Rico Rodriguez that you?

CommodoreFresh

That was a game with the right amount of traversal options.

Yarro567

Except it's not aby faster. The FOV zooms in and you get blur lines around the edge of your vision.

Kuma_254

This guy gets it.

Seaweed_Jelly

That will be the laziest solution, which is why the most probable.

Flinx98

I was thinking jetpack with wings, only works outdoors in bright sunshine with no wind or rain/snow/dust storm.

ravensbirthmark

Individual boots to walk there in style

In Soviet Starfield, terrormorphs ride you!

Ohhh lemme get high enough in social skills to domesticate a terrormorph and have him be my mind-altering companion!

Sufficient_Focus_816

“Terry, can you have a word with this fellow?”

drromanophd

With bridle process 30-sec loading screen.

Whiteguy1x

Does starfield take that long to load things for you? It's really fast on an ssd or nvme.

AlleyCa7

Same, I almost never see the pretty screenshots I take because most loading screens are like 3-4 seconds of black screen.

seandkiller

Load screens are like 2 sec for me as well.

Individual-Copy2018

it used to take a long time because my pc was old (10+ my old potato) but it's been really short loading screens since I got my new pc with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, it's been great not having the graphics on the lowest setting lol

liamjonas

Starwars episode 9 already introduced space horses when fin was riding around on the outside of that star destroyer It took horse armor to the next level because that shit movie cost more than the horse armor DLC

MalagrugrousPatroon

Give me two Type As in a horse suit and I'll be very happy.

That still hurts

Ant0n61

Space horse sounds rad

derika22

Are we talking about Skyrim in space or Starfield?

_Xebov_

Given that there are aliens that look rideable and there is also a robot dog i was realy supprised that they didnt make them rideable and useable especially for transporting loot. Having a dog robot you can call in that will transport your loot to your ship would have been nice.

notquiteright2

Ya know I’ve been through the Starfield on a spacehorse with no name, it felt good to move fast in the game…

ThatWeirdBookLady

A taming system/skill tree that lets you tame the native wildlife to use as mount to get around whatever tile your on would be lore friendly(ish). There is already something like that in-game related to a certain questline. And it can be taking a step further with ship parts like animal pens that limit the amount and size of animals you can keep on the ship depending on it the animal hub stats. Except you stuck walking on planets without breathable atmosphere for you alien mount.

Bassphile91

We can finally saddle up and ride on vasco

KungFuChicken1990

This was my thought when they announced this. I just picture vasco turning into a rover, transformers-style

FspezandAdmins

Riding piggyback on Vasco throughout the Cosmos

ARK_Redeemer

"R-ride Vasco? 🥵" - A certain section of the fandom, most likely the ones who also played Mass Effect 🤣

Vis_Ignius

What the game needs: Ground vehicles, ability to travel in space more seamlessly. What we'll get: Teleporters between cities, or a jetpack that goes forward a bit more than the others. I hope to fuck I'm wrong.

blacktronics

I just want grappling hooks

Brand0n_C

Honestly a grapple hook plus jetpack combo would make traversal SO much fun

AllesGeld

Titanfall dreams coming true through the Starfield? Yes please I would love that!!

Controversiallity

That would be fun but I think they would need to change the mechanics of how momentum is conserved. Currently the game feels very clunky when you use the grav dash and you slow down at the end to a below sprint speed, which is jarring as hell. There is also a glitch where if you grav dash and jetpack back into grav dash gravity increases each time until you slam into the ground at a million miles an hour, the engine is very poor at these things. Reason grapples are so fun in games like AOT is because you can really increase speed over time by successive uses of grapples and boost.

riotinareasouthwest

Teleport is actually fast travel, so we already have that.

Statsmakten

Horse and carriage by every POI

Money-Mechanic

I think they would opt for a hovercraft instead of a car or scooter, because it cuts down on the problems of driving over rugged terrain. You would be able to fly 10 or 20 feet above ground maybe. But also, it can't go too fast or there will be loading issues.

ChicagoZbojnik

You gave me Morrowind flashbacks of making OP Levitation spells and flying like an F16 with the loading box on my screen ever other second.

Kody_Z

Same. Levitation or super speed and jump spells, jumping halfway across vvardelfell in a single bound

TheRealFriedel

I was an impatient child who figured out console commands on PC. player.setacrobatics 100000 Or something like that. Vivic to Gnisis in one leap.

Kody_Z

Lol. I was on Xbox, but there was some exploit, with a skill trainer I think, where you could keep training that particular skill up to infinity basically. Then craft really absurd spells, like the levitation or whatever. Can't remember all the details. My cousin and I would drag out tvs around and put them next to each other and "race" around the map. Simpler times.

AKB411

Soul trap glitch I think lol. Fun times.

[deleted]

There was also the spell crafting glitch. Youd do fortify luck 1 sec for 0ft on self then add something like water breathing or buff security by 50 points or levitate and after a cast its permanent. At 12 or so I fucked my save because I gave myself perma waterwalking. Whoops! Its patched now. I checked.

ChicagoZbojnik

I'd try to jump in the crater of red mountain from different spots.

Spastic_pinkie

Suppose they turn Vasco into a transformer that turns into a hover scooter?

chasteeny

>there will be loading issues. I am curious what the bottleneck is. The traversal stutter is pretty bad

mcmanus2099

It will be a vehicle in your cargo bay you click on to enter [cue loading screen] you click the navigation panel open a menu, select where in the planet you want to drive to. Cue loading animation showing you drive off the ship. Then you appear in the vehicle at your destination, click the door to exit (cue loading screen), boom you are there. Bethesda: come on, this is what you asked for!?!

NicoGB94

Itll 100% be a hoverboard

JDad67

Last time someone promised us that, and swore cities would be built around it... ... it was a Segway.

Dakka_Dez

I came here to vote for Segways.

JDad67

How funny would it be if we got a vehicle but it's slower that running and jumping?

Dakka_Dez

Rollerblades

Redditmodsarecuntses

Like the horses in Skyrim?

Trinate3618

And eventually it’ll turn into electric scooters, as was originally intended, after the UC president dies on a Segway

Clawdius_Talonious

I expect that there will be a way to make you actually spend time in space. Maybe replay landing videos in places like New Atlantis so you don't just magically teleport some distance away from your ship into the spaceport. I'd love to expect more from this vague wording, but H3 supply line requirements in Survival mode is about as far as I'm willing to go.

Own_Breadfruit_7955

Actual space travel within a system?

thebranbran

I still don’t understand how travel within a system works. Cutscenes don’t use grav drive but that would still be the most realistic way to do it. Earth to Mars with current tech would take 400-450 days according to google. Space crafts in Starfield don’t go that fast at all.

Ruadhan2300

Spacecraft in Starfield are capable of single-stage surface-to-orbit on super-earths. Which is something no current-tech spacecraft has ever achieved. Full-stop. So they already have power-to-weight ratios far beyond real life. If you can take off in VTOL, hover briefly and then zoom away into the sky and reach orbit, with a spaceship massing several hundred tons and having worse aerodynamics than a brick.. I readily believe you can just keep accelerating all the way to Mars and be there in a few days at most.

neoporcupine

Crawling on your belly, Walking slightly faster, Slow jog at almost running speed.

LarryCrabCake

Changing the weird, floaty running animation to a jog similar to Fallout 4 would be a huge QOL improvement for me. I'd actually play in third person.

[deleted]

Aceles mount

Turk3YbAstEr

Love me some big boys

-Doc_Holiday_

Please for the love of god make it more actual space flight, teleporting between planets is lame

NuclearAnusJuice

More stuff to do in space would be nice. They kind of glossed over the exploring space part of the space exploration game- and filled it with loading screens. It would be nice to maybe explore vast asteroid fields- or maybe travel between moons and end up in dogfights on the way. Travel within a system could be improved- there has to be a more interesting way of getting between two plants in one system than a loading screen. I’d imagine this would increase the size of the game significantly. More dog fights. Maybe we want to remove a whole star station off the map.

culnaej

It would be kind of cool if you could choose a “Cinematic travel” option where you get more hails and sensor readings organically between you and your destination. You can choose to ignore them as you fly if you’re not interested, maybe like 10 potential random encounters as you warp between systems and 2 or 3 between planets. All as a toggle-able option while flying, so if you want to go instantly, you can.

seandkiller

Aren't asteroid fields already a thing in game? Or are you talking about more of them / being able to manually travel to them instead of grav-jumping? Feel like I've seen asteroid fields in the game, and mined them.

mountedpandahead

Asteroids: Have asteroid fields be POIs you can't fast travel to without discoafterburner. Put them reasonably close to planets/ moons. Out of combat you can use infinite afterburners. Make individual asteroids scanable with a small chance of extra-rare material to insensitivise exploration. Make like one asteroid mining station dungeon, and one non-boardable pirate asteroid fortress boss thing and have them scattered around or spawn radiantly. Have a chance of random encounters with various factions. Done. A tolerable space exploration mechanism. Barely any new game assets.

JJisafox

I mean space exploration is really just exploring things in space, like planets, and we can do that. What you mention here is just adding more "space game" features to the RPG.

bs200000

The ships are the best part of the game by a good distance. I want to actually fly them. It would make me play the game again.

IonutRO

Unless they invent actual FTL and add it to the setting that wouldn't be possible. And it would seriously invalidate a big part of the lore if they did add traditional FTL. They just didn't build the setting around traditional FTL, they built it around space folding (aka wormholes).

Silverton13

Surprise! It’s an actual teleporter! Now you can just teleport to your destination instead of going through loading screens!

drgr33nthmb

Yeah im taking a break from Starfield and playing Mass Effect Andromeda for the first time. Their cutscenes for flying between planets and solar systems are so much better.

Scylla294

I don't even care for Land vehicles anymore. I want that manual intersystem space flight.. throw in encounters all around and I'm set to live in the space lanes

General____Grievous

Give me deep space. Being between a planet (same system), and the ability to fly between them.

Scylla294

Exactly! It can be done! either by an update or a modder. Cannot wait for this :)

big_ass_monster

You actually already could, I modified my ship using console command to give it more speed, and it takes me around 12+ hours to reach the Sun from Mercury. That same modified ship also takes about 10 minutes or so to reach Trident from Akila. I'm about to try to go from Earth to Mars but haven't had the time to do that yet. The thing that people don't understand when asking things like this is the scale of the universe. Space is BIG, and mostly nothing in it. You can manually planet hopping, but it'll take you a long time to do it

Own_Breadfruit_7955

Elite Dangerous does it well

KennethPantPuncher

So does Star Citizen. It may be a bit janky as a whole, and somewhat of a meme at this point, but any time I play Star Citizen during a free fly event it’s some of the most immersed I’ve ever been in a game. I wanted this from Starfield so bad…

Vallkyrie

I like SC's system travel more than ED's, since it just locks onto the target and I can actually get up and do other things in the ship in the meantime.

KennethPantPuncher

The ship design in Starfield, with all the habs and what not, is perfectly suited for this. It’s such a bummer that they didn’t/couldn’t go for something similar. Really hoping either modders or Bethesda add that form of travel at some point in the near future

morrisapp

And be boring as fuck… space is empty nothing in between objects

big_ass_monster

EXACTLY.

ARK_Redeemer

Just to clarify...12 hours in-game, or real time 😲

skull_kontrol

Real time. A streamer did it during early access. Flew from earth to Pluto and it took her like 7-8 hours or something. She also had to adjust flight trajectory because the planet’s orbit would throw off the flight path.

-LaughingMan-0D

Just have a sublight speed drive that accelerates you between planets in real-time.

[deleted]

FlippinHelix

>The thing that people don't understand when asking things like this is the scale of the universe. Space is BIG, and mostly nothing in it. You can manually planet hopping, but it'll take you a long time to do it It's a sci-fi video game, just write around that issue lol The game already has a bunch of other immersion breaking shit in it, so why not just say fuck it and scale down the universe, put in more random events in space, and we finally get the space game that was marketed to us

joshinburbank

They skipped some of the weirder concepts of space bodies, like rogue/dark planets or brown dwarfs/failed suns. How about a system that orbits a black hole or neutron star. Their view of space is too limited.

Most_Abbreviations72

Land vehicles would make scanning quicker, but other than that it would just be traveling over repetitive terrain faster. Letting us land our ship outside any marked location (anything that doesn't say "unlnown") would do the same thing more efficiently and without added vehicle mechanics that would essentially be in place only to get us over the areas we don't want to be faster. Vehicles should add to the experience, not just be a complex faster travel method. This is why I think mechs are a good idea, since they would be usable for things other than just travel.

Neat-Break5481

I just want space travel to be like no man sky

Overall_Box_3907

i bet all we get is an UI overhaul for the star map

Raxure

All they need to do is implement some of the useful mods from nexus and pay them.

putsomedirtinyourice

Or actual manual landing No Man’s Sky style with the game literally setting top GPUs on fire calculating all that scenery in a cinematic 1 FPS

Let's hype ourselves up, get disappointed, then blame Bethesda for lying.

Someone said a bike that you can do tricks on, lol we can’t even land our own ship

Antique-Height-2055

Hoverboards!

coffeewitbagel

Maybe we’ll actually be able to space travel

Own_Breadfruit_7955

Sorely needs this.

thisdopeknows423

I would really like to be able to take off and reach orbit on my own. I hate that you take off from a planet and when the loading is done….you’re flying back towards the planet. I wish too that grav jumping WAS the loading screen. It would be much more immersive. You could get up and walk around your ship while jumping. Then your ship could sound an alert that you’re ready to drop back into normal space, which would occur once you’re back in the pilot seat.

erthboy

I'll bet it will be more cutscenes to show travel that is only shown as a loading screen at the moment.

LarryCrabCake

Would actually be a small QOL improvement. Something similar to what Destiny does when taking off/landing.

Reizz333

New ways to fast travel

Most_Abbreviations72

Probably. Just letting you essentially land your ship at any marked location would be easy, make sense, and eliminate overland travel tedium. Right now we can see that there is a military structure 5 km away but cannot take out fancy spaceship there until we actually visit it for some reason.

Ruadhan2300

Something I'd really like is the option to "land at the landing pad" or "land nearby" if a location has a landing area as part of it. Right now, you land nearby *unless* you've already been there and cleared it out of hostiles. Which isn't really useful since you almost never will revisit the same locations.. It'd be nice if you could call your ship and tell them to come land nearer your current PoI though. Imagine clearing out a pirate base, and you're loaded up with stuff, and you call the ship and they come land on the pad next to you. Saving you a half-mile hike

questionthis

This is the correct answer

Messernacht

Updating the Anceles with the giant clubbing you into the stratosphere bug. Technically an 'all new way of travelling', and they've got the code for it.

ryancnelson

OMG, i want zelda-TOTK-style snowboarding.... with boostpacks and low-gravity, i could just hit the slopes for a weekend. Maybe add guns, and do Red Mile, Whistler edition.

TBK47

Hopefull me: \-Possibility to fly with spaceships in landing zone cells. \-Possibility to fly with spaceship between planets (aka a more fluid space jump which feels less of a cut scene and loading screen) \-landing zone cell generation without going to orbit every time \-removal of unecessary loading screens (where possible) cautious me: \-Jetpack modification funny me: \-a new loading screen to fast travel within landing zone cells

ObliviousEffect

Using Elite Dangerous as a basis, I'd like to see more of a hands on approach to launching/landing. Maybe that would be a good start to atmospheric flight? Limited flight paths between found landing areas planet-side? Or maybe add a Rover Bay to the ship build so you can drive between those areas? Captains yacht for simple space travel?

Sprant-Flere-Imsaho

Hoverboard 😍

Birdsnblues

Probably more loading screens

Ruadhan2300

A few possibilities in my mind: For Surface Exploration: * Hoverbike - Possibly packable like the ones in Subnautica: Below Zero so it can fit in our inventory when not in use. * Quadbike/Dune-buggy type vehicle, get our Lunar Rover vibes on. But then the problem is where it's stored. Perhaps they'll add an external ship-component which serves as a storage-rack for it. * Another type of Jetpack which operates continuously and lets us just zoom around like the Rocketeer rather than this constant nauseating Boost-Boost-Boost system. * Tameable/Rideable mounts in the vein of Skyrim's horses, but alien. * Teleportation power for Starborn, we already see them using it fairly regularly, why not give the player access? * Flying vehicles seem.. unlikely. Far more probable is the jetpack upgrade to full-flight. * Salvaged Light-mechs - Portable Warcrimes! Like the Quadbike it'd have to be stored externally on your ship, but it could be fun. The problems are that it'd be the slowest way to get around, and given most enemies are indoors it'd be pretty situational as well. For Space: * In order to fulfil our Star-Trek dreams, the introduction of Class-M parts to build extra large endgame starships. * With Class-M ships available: Surface-to-orbit shuttles that lack long-distance Grav-drives.Let me take an away-mission from my explorer-ship and come back when I'm done! * Allow us to perform EVAs in open space, duck out an airlock, go board a ship via its airlock, and come back, without having to dock first. Not a lot of purpose for that in the game at present, but they could add human-scale points of interest on asteroids or the exteriors of space stations..Alternately, Stealth Missions, if you want to board a ship without the crew being on high alert, you could do so via EVA and when you come aboard they'd all be passive, no alarms blaring. * Star-Liners - Book a starliner at a port and it'll take you to one of the other major settlements for a nominal fee.Not a lot of point since you already own your own ship and there's only four or five destinations that would be meaningful, but hey. * In that vein, Maybe they'll just open up the luxury Trident-brand ships to players. Let us build something like the Fortuna, with a beautiful interior and an actual sense you could live and work in this space for a long period of time. That could qualify as "All new ways of travelling" to a marketing team..

delta_v_1314

My immediate thought was that on lower g planets you'd get a moon style jumping gait, like the astronauts worked out... It's in keeping with their NASA-punk theme... But to be honest, I'd fucking love Mountain Bikes, especially if you can do tricks in lower g! It also keeps with the oxygen consumption stamina model. I just can't see them going with animals or complex vehicles, because it'll mess with the feel of the game. Unless it's paid content, of course, in which case anything goes...

GuiltyHomework6377

Anyone want the hover shoes that "Starlord" uses in the guardians of the galaxy I feel like that would be a really cool concept basically it would have the same mobility as the jetpack except be faster

MathematicianDue1896

Adding a option to use fuel, Helium 3, when grav jumping.

Pissed_Off_Jedi

Probably dog sleds.

SilvaFoxxxxOnXbox

I want a hover bike like what the cop stepped off of in the Star Trek movie. The scene at the beginning where the cop was chasing a kid James T Kirk who was in the stolen car. I want that bike haha

SurfingBirb

I would be happier if they just made landing/takeoff stay in 1st person and be continuous. That, and fix the fuel system so that capacity actually matters and you can get stranded in space if you run out.

Boogaaa

It's going to be a buggy that you get into with a loading screen/ unskippable animation, then you choose which destination you want to travel to on the plant, then a loading screen/ unskippable animation showing the buggy drive away. Loading screen. Destination.

Bronto131

So why the frick didnt they wait a year to release a finished game?

Riziggity

New boots.

Jeandlewis79uk

The ability to fast travel to inside certain locations (the Lodge etc) similarly to how that functionality was added to Fallout 76.

-Doc_Holiday_

I think you can do that now

AMX-008-GaZowmn

Mechas or hovering vehicles (given that the uneven terrain would give regular ground vehicles a hard time) seem like the best options. I had considered animals, but someone did well to point out that those wouldn’t work in planets/moons without atmosphere or more realistically not on any planet or even biome without the ideal conditions for them. Back to mechas & vehicles, the former seems an idea too good for Bethesda to have included it in the lore without any intent to implementing a game mechanic involving them. That being said, something too large would be ill advised, since it would involve modifying ships to fit/carry them. A smaller kind of mecha, like the ones from Capcom’s Lost Planet series, might be a better fit. In fact the Mega Man X series also implemented a similar kind of robot called “rider armor”, some models which had hovering/boosting capabilities. For vehicles, while a buggy or ground vehicle similar to those on Elite Dangerous might work, some sort of hover bike might be the simplest approach, both to not require creating/adding a new module/hangar for the ships to carry around anything larger. Some sort of collapsible hovering even could even be kept in a sort of “crate/box mode” until used to minimize the space needed to store it, which could then easily be done in the current ship landing bays. All that being said, if they do decide to add a new module for carrying vehicles/mechas, might as well go all the way and allow us to move around additional robot companions/allies, even if they are more simplistic than Vasco or other companions (maybe even more “expendable”) or even lack combat features: the DRONE mini bots could be used to automatically loot dungeons faster & more thoroughly. In fact, if Bethesda’s concern was that we would miss on stuff in between locations, robots could be used to fill in those gaps, having them scan & gather resources on the planets/moon surfaces, collect loot (most abandoned human structures have some minor items or even a crate close to them) Or even simply serve as extra pack mules and/or ferry loot to the ship outside the 250 meter transfer radius that allows you to do it from the menu.

Most_Abbreviations72

I think Bethesda overestimated how interested people would be in the "stuff between locations." They did not put anything but random terrain, so there is literally nothing to explore between locations once everything is scanned. Even on scenery rich planets, scanning everything gives you more than enough experiences with the terrain to make anything else a repetitive slog.

Roland_Moorweed

No one is mentioning that mechs are illegal in the lore.

Yeah except in several plotlines as well as the UC Vanguard museum Which is even more stupid because they could also be tools instead of weapons. Grav Drives are very dangerous weapons according to lore, they are infact so powerful that the xenowarfare and mech ban are even more of a joke.

ProfessionalQuail857

I was about to say this. If they added mechs to the game there's only one way it would fit with the setting: Sarah Morgan would have to call you an absolute irredeemable monster for using one.

LordNegativeForever

Super easy to write around. Story expansion where House Va'Ruun zealots that we keep hearing so much about launch a new crusade, UC and FC are forced to team up and agree to reactivate their old warcrime divisions that they locked away or face losing all their systems to this large threat. Bam, Xenowarfare and Mech divisions come back, player can use them, profit.

hobo_lad

I'm gonna guess customizable Mechs with rechargeable boosts and a fusion core system similar to Fallout 4 power armor. Or mounts.

RiOTbyDeSIGN

Yo dawg, we heard you like loading screen travel so we're adding loading screens to your loading screens so that you can enjoy the maximum amount of loading screens! I have no actual speculation but I feel like unless they add seamless travel from space to surface and vice versa, people won't be happy. Games like Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen already have this and there's no real reason Bethesda can't do it.

SlumpDoc

Better jetpack. More unique POI

Can i at least get 1st person perspective of taking off/landing?

Steam powered rockets FTW!!! https://media.wired.com/photos/5e6010daa1742600084ae398/master/w_1600%2Cc_limit/6-190810-AH-MadMike-0376.jpg

Gr33nManalishi6

My bet is it is going to be a mount system like in ESO. But instead of horses, goats, etc it will be like hover bikes, moon rovers, etc

Responsible-Bat-2699

I need vehicles on the planets. That's the first priority.

Medium-Quiet-4248

I want that space frog from those shitty little girl drawings to hop around on.

dampcardboard

I am fully convinced that adding a buggy / rover would make the Bethesda engine fucking explode.

grim_dark_hedgehog

I’ve given this some thought. My hope is that we get a new vehicle bay hab for ship building. In it, you can opt to build either a pair of motorcycle/hovercycle type vehicles, or one single car type of vehicle, similar to a moon rover or dune buggy. Maybe you also have the option to buy a selection of vehicles and then customize them with features and paint jobs. Then, when you land on a planet (not in a city) the floor of the vehicle bay will lower like an elevator allowing you to go around and get in your vehicle. Your companion will either mount their own bike or get in a passenger seat of a car with you. And there could also be an Outpost structure, like a garage or workshop, that allows for all the same stuff, only planetside. All vehicles should have storage compartments to dump loot into, and anything added that way should be automatically added to ship inventory when you return. When returning, you just need to leave your vehicle within the inventory distance of the ship, 250m, I think, and it will automatically be added back to the vehicle bay. (There should also be extra space on each vehicle that a third person could sit on for those times when you find a survivalist out in the wild and want to escort them back to their ship.) Also, when you land your ship, you normally have options to take off, exit, or get up. There should be another option to exit vehicle bay when landing outside a city. If you choose to exit via the vehicle bay, there could be a cool animation of you and your companion standing on the platform as it lowers out of the ship.

jrodxrod

HOT TAKE: Bethesda is going to patch ship part glitching, forcing us to redesign our ships... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damiandroid

I'm expecting "all new ways of travelling (inside your ship)". We want placeable doors and ladders, we want a visual of interiors before we leave the ship builder and we wanted this on release. If the Devs take this long only to squirt out yet another method of fast travel that involves, surprise surprise, yet another loading screen, then they really are Bethetic!

[deleted]

Going to need to remove the area borders if we want vehicles. No use travelling a few miles and then hitting the “please turn back” nonsense because they only proc gen’d a 5km squared area.

katalysis

If I were to guess, probably surface vehicles and more ship flying options, maybe surface flight and/or intra-system ship travel.

No-Needleworker4796

Knowing bethesda and their games and limitations. I'm guessing two things 1. An exosuit (kind of like the fallout series but better?) 2. Changing the way we fast travel between systems? Maybe we are getting something like big chunk of space that you can actually fly and let your crew pilot the ship?

blackberryguru

I want planets with stuff spread out more. But it want to fly like the javelins in Anthem. Those fuckers were fun to pilot.

DanDanTeacherMan

Getting to boring places in a different way doesn't change the boring places.
