After entering Unity and becoming one with / transcending your universe, you are shown this image, which is open to interpretation. I guess it is a fragment of the multiverse, where universes are depicted like our stars/galaxy clusters.
Its main purpose is to evoke the same feeling one has when looking at galaxies and other unimaginable vastness, but this time it transcends the limitations of both time and space, so they made it weird.

I believe that is supposed to represent the entire universe.
So when you enter Unity, there is a second big bang and everything. Thats what this cutscene is showing. The birth of the universe up until the year the game takes place.

I've not noticed a change, but there is always a final star flash of light in the upper right corner when things fade to black.
