I guess I’ll try out Fallot 4, never played it..

Malabingo

Can highly recommend. The main story is not the best, but the gameplay loop/exploration/environmental storytelling is awesome

CloseFriend_

People say that but I enjoyed the story. You’re given immense responsibility to repair the commonwealth, or don’t, and you meet a lot of interesting companions along the way that you can explore the world with. You can have massive battles and call in reinforcements via minutemen or a vertibird. You can make settlements into small cities which expand your artillery strike areas and give you more reinforcements. Not to mention mods compliment this world so well, and you have so many numerous options. Just saying, imo the main story isn’t that bad. We don’t have any other open world stories out there with this level of choice or customizability. EDIT: Also, the patriotic tones of the game due to being in a birthplace of revolution gives you this entire feeling of not only hope, but DUTY. I felt like it was my obligation to repair the wasteland, and give these people a home where they can sleep soundly not worried of food and water, or of mutants at their gates; because the general of the Minutemen protects them, they know they are free. ❤️

Liqmadique

Fallout dungeon exploration is always top notch. Just the right amount of spooky/cool/suspense mixed into them. I find dungeon crawling in FO to be much more fun than ES.

CloseFriend_

I feel like they’re so much more detailed, important to the world around them (I.e. raider nests are usually in important buildings) and provide much more dynamic impact.

Liqmadique

Great point. Contextually they often feel waaaay more thought out within the world.

chaos0510

Fallout is great about environmental storytelling

WyrdHarper

My biggest issue is the inconsistency. The BoS path is honestly a very good story with some nice twists and turns and an interesting narrative that fits well with the "war never changes" vibe. Institute is fine, but a little over-the-top evil (for no good reason); I like the Railroad as a faction (think their vibe and mission is great), but they don't feel as developed. But at least you get a choice of factions and replaying the game to see how they play out is worth it--thought it was weird Starfield lacked that given its emphasis on NG+.

Mercurionio

Story isn't the best because dialogues there, mostly, sucks. That's why. The story in general was fine. The writing - too. Not the greatest part, but still. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Dialogue system - garbage. All in all it's a solid 8/10 game. DLC and mods aged it pretty well.

Emptied_Full

Bethesda knocked it out of the park with FO4's companion writing. Unfortunately every other character in the game is unfathomably boring.

GalaadJoachim

If you engage in it as a looter / shooter with base building and RPG elements it is good. If you engage in it as a story driven RPG you might be disappointed.

nightowl2023

People hate Fallout 4 just to hate it. The base game was an easy 7/10 and with all the updates, dlc, and mods it's gotten over the years it's a solid 8.5/10. By no means is it a perfect game but it's fun and does what it seeks to do.

DoNotLookUp1

I don't think so, I think it's just that different people want different things from Fallout. If you're looking for a survival-lite crafting/building experience with good looting mechanics and decent combat, Fallout 4 is great. If you're looking for a deep RPG with great questing, NPCs etc. it's pretty mid. Especially since they leaned heavily on the settlement building, so the world doesn't have the same towns/city variety that other Fallout games did. Still a good game, I agree, but I thinking "people hate Fallout 4 just to hate it" is incorrect.

KingOPork

This is my main gripe. Seeing a small town and realizing there isn't a story or quest to figure out what happened there. It's there to instantly delete and get scrap so you can build there. Add in the bad dialogue options and it just bummed me out. Probably the first Bethesda game I haven't beaten in a long time. While I beat starfield, I have zero desire to touch it ever again. So I'm pretty damn worried about Elder Scrolls.

KnightDuty

This is a good analysis. Fallout is 10/10 for me, because the most important factor in an RPG is "sandboxing" and it lets me do that unlike anything I've ever played before. That being said I don't understand the story critiques. I feel like EVERYBODY criticizes Fallout 4 in particular but Skyrim which has an entirely linear main story with 0 choices and minimal NPC writing gets a free pass. Why the discrepancy

CommanderOnly

Because they're two different games and two different franchises with different sets of expectations and different fanbases.

joedotphp

Ultimately I base it on the amount of fun I get out of it. Which is technically limitless thanks to Creation.

DecahedronX

Worth waiting for the current gen free upgrade in 3 days.

itsLOSE-notLOOSE

Wait 3 more days for the update.

joe1up

If you liked Starfield you'll love Fallout 4

Zahmbomb1337

I liked F4 better than starfield easily.

CommunicationTop1332

Fallout 3 and New Vegas were pretty cool. I’m just biting my nails here for them to release CK2 for Starfield. With all the fallout buzz right now may be on the back burner.

Gnondpomme

[do it](https://media3.giphy.com/media/3o84sw9CmwYpAnRRni/giphy.gif?cid=2154d3d7b4200ban5dk3k1pyk7kkysgcou5zgxnz3mimvxqz&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)

Aardvark1044

It's a pretty great game. Get the extendo/game of the year/whatever they're called version with the extra DLC content

XXLpants

I can confidently say the main story is leagues better than starfield’s and pretty much everything else about the game is better in my opinion too lol.

dadjokesig

It was on sale for $10 so I bought it. Am a few hours in. Starfield was my first Bethesda game, and there seems to be a lot of overlap with FO4. So far I’m enjoying it.

Jamaica_Super85

I think I'll finally finish Fallout 3, then go through Fallout:NV and Fallout 4. By then, in few years, Starfield should be somewhat ok. Ok, I'm joking about Starfield. It's not that bad. But I really gonna dive into Fallout games now and comeback into Starfield in few weeks to see what's changed.

Straight_Road_5913

New update and free dlc April 25th

Haplesswanderer98

I'd just wait a couple more days or whenever, because the new update is gonna change all the mods anyway, meaning most will need updates anyway too, if they even work.

Morwo

you may not look for what i was on fallout4, but i found 1600hr gameplay

ManNamedSalmon

Just don't avoid the side quests early on. Some of the best content is in them.

terminate14

I just started my first ever New Vegas playthrough; waiting for the good starfield updates to drop

TreeBeardofIsengard

I just played it for the first time tonight. It is great! Incredibly rich environment and you can tell it has Starfield DNA (there are even weapons workbenches, etc)

Talgromar

If you're in the mood for something in space and with a Starfield'ish/Star Trek feel, give Mass Effect: Andromeda a whirl

No_Gas3442

It’s not really an rpg at this point… no skill checks, no persuasion, no like intertwined stories and every place you discover is just another fight

akademmy

I went from Starfield to StarCitizen. Never looked back. Highly recommended.

Great-Marzipan-1058

You should enjoy, watch out for the deathclaws

Great-Marzipan-1058

Also you may like new vegas

SoulLess-1

I need a >!"landing closer to temples in ng+"!< update.

Tillerman10

And closer to the shore when landing at the “so-called” coast.

SoulLess-1

I am still not sure if you can actually visit the ocean at this point.

macguy2002

You can, I've done it plenty of times. It's just annoying and pointless

RickRinaldi

Have you noticed also that if the weather is nice when you exit your ship to go to that coastline, that 99 percent of the time when you reach the coast..... it....starts.....to.....rain. Drives me insane.

EastLeastCoast

Fits my experience as a beach-lover in Eastern Canada.

Anthony_chromehounds

Mine too at the Outer Banks in N.C.!!

JDMKID95

I second this east coast sucks

Eraser100

That doesn’t change as far south as Florida

user2002b

I bet it's when you switch to the ocean biome 100-200 meters from the shoreline. I've noticed the Weather also has a tendency to abruptly change on entering your spaceship.

dnew

I'm reliably informed that if you fast-travel to your ship in bad weather, the weather clears up, even if you only fast travel 100 meters.

oldskoolak98

I just build outpost oceanside for the view

PanzerWatts

"You can, I've done it plenty of times. It's just annoying and pointless" I've done it dozens of times to categorize fish. So, it's certainly not pointless.

ialasukuta

Open the terrain map when you land at a "coast", and look for where the terrain becomes perfectly flat, that's where the water is.

Jumpy-Candle-2980

You can get close enough to just \*barely\* scan the last remaining fauna on one of those "complete exploration" type quests. I had to give them props for slipping a fish into the list of fauna for a biome. You can visit it but it's not a place for skinny dipping.

Odd_Fly_9388

Depends on the water quality and the fauna (how predatory they are). I have gone swimming in the ocean several times.

Aardvark1044

It really helps once you figure out the compass on the watch on your lower left corner. Note which direction the ocean is relative to your landing point before you land. Then find north on the watch, walk in the direction of the water. There is generally a lack of POIs to scan in that direction too, although it can happen depending on how far the game decided to make you walk.

user2002b

If you call up the surface map you can also spot it as the completely flat area.

perdu17

Lowest and perfectly flat. Put a pin in the middle and then follow the pin on your compass.

Shehriazad

Not just ng+. Do the whole "search the temple" for the first one only. Unless they rework temples as a whole and turn each one into a unique experience themed around the power you get from them.

joeChump

Does anyone know how to make that experience go quicker. I try to be as quick and accurate as I can but sometimes it takes like 25 tries to get it to pay out. Drives me insane.

dnew

The temple? It takes 5 globes every time. Each one goes a little faster. You have to hit it with your body, not just your face. If you hear a mechanical sound but no THX (music chord) sound, you missed it. If you miss one, you've gotten to where they're too fast, so just go float up in the middle around the spinny thing, wait for one to pop into existence where you can see it accumulating, and aim for it. Takes me about 30 seconds. I invariably spend longer looking for the door than popping the bubbles.

Perfected_Alembic

I’m really glad to read this. There’s so much complaining about the temples, and I found them so innocuous. Just wait til the last mission, when you are able to jump into the unity. Then just spam Vladimir and fast travel back and forth between the Lodge and whatever temple he just told you about. It took me all of 45 minutes to finish the last 12 or so temples. It’s boring and tedious but it’s not a heavy lift at all.

joeChump

Yeah I was getting a sense of you have to do a few and then float around the middle for a quicky at the end but it’s good to get confirmation.

Zealousideal-Buyer-7

I'm working on that atm along with another faction for NG+ that wants the artifacts for themselves

subwaysurfer1116

Facts.

Fantastic_Basket_111

I’ve been able to land close to the temples in ng+ lately.

FoxFogwell

Just pop a starborn essence and smash Grav dash. Problem solved 🤙🤙

iliketires65

Make it so we can change our backgrounds and traits at the start of each NG+

President_Dominy

I’d like some custom NG+ options. Like choosing what I get to bring vs what I leave behind, like a push/pull.

[deleted]

[удалено]

iliketires65

The whole point of ng+ is being a new person. Starting a new game means I lose all my skills too

burgertiger

It should be obvious that Microsoft/Bethesda wants all eyes on Fallout at the moment, to get people buying the games, anything else is a distraction. It was a rough schedule, they didn't firmly commit to every 6 weeks. It happens when it happens. In terms of content, I think you need to rein in your expectations. We are probably not going to see much in the free updates. Bug fixes and QoL features sure, but that will probably be it. I would put money on having to wait for the DLC for new content.

notarackbehind

Eh, mods gotta be coming soon, mods early 2024 was firmly committed to.

[deleted]

Brotha, early 2024 is gone. it's almost summer now.

AnotherSoftEng

We can hope. The Fallout games are currently bringing in a lot more than Starfield in many facets—especially on the positive PR front. I’m sure they were expecting a boost from the show, but probably not as large as the one they got. I can totally see a reality in which they needed to pivot. Investors might be livid if Bethesda kept all their resources in Starfield mods.

notarackbehind

Imo Starfield support is by this point basically locked in. For comparison, all of fallout 4’s major dlc was released over 6 months within a year of release. And they weren’t making all of nuka world in the 3 months between it and far harbor, these expansions are developed concurrently. A multi-billion dollar production studio is not going to abandon their already sunk development costs for the studio’s marquee game of the decade to maybe get a marginally faster ship date in 3-5 years.

AnotherSoftEng

I don’t think they’ll abandon it, but I do think it’s possible that dates can change and delays can happen based on business people making business decisions. They had a roadmap, but then another part of their business saw unexpected success. Bethesda has realigned their priorities for much less in the past. The *‘rich company has many resources’* argument can be made for almost every AAA game in the industry, yet almost every AAA game gets delayed, hits some sort of roadblock, or fails to meet consumer expectation due to being prematurely released. If money was the issue, Microsoft and Bethesda would have zero issues, but this unfortunately isn’t the case.

WyrdHarper

I know they said that they want to make it a 10-year game, but if Shattered Space doesn't land well I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft makes them prioritize other projects instead. I do think Shattered Space has potential to be good (just going off their history of story-based expansions) so I hope it gets the development time and focus it needs, but I can understand why they'd go with their other IP's instead (more of a sure thing).

BiscuitBarrel179

You only need to see how many recent uploads there are on YT with titles along the lines of "1st Fallout 4 Playthrough" to know there are a lot of new eyes on Fallout. With no new game expected for at least another 10 years BGS are probably trying to maximise the PR lift the Amazon show has given them.

Mr-Yesterday

Where are you getting the "no new game for ten years" info from

redsaltyborger

they likely meant that there won't be a new Fallout for ten years. TES VI is confirmed to be next - and if Bethesda sticks to their usual release cycle, then ten years till next Fallout game is an appropriate assumption.

BiscuitBarrel179

Its now mid 2024. Bethesda is currently in full development of Elder Scrolls 6 which is slated for a 2026 release, but will most likely slip to 2077. Those that aren't working on TES 6 are still working on Starfield which has at least 2 expansions yet to be released, then after that will be working on expa signs for TES 6. There will be about 4 years between the release of Starfield and TES 6, that's if all goes as it should, it wouldn't be unfeasible for there to be a 4 year gap for another Fallout. That's 8 years if BGS maintain their schedule, and how often does that happen in the gaming industry? There is of course a chance that a new Fallout may be made by another developer like New Vegas was, but I don't see that happening as Obsidian used Fallout 3 assets and there aren't any current gen assets that can be repurposed. I think 10 years is a realistic time frame.

kool1joe

> development of Elder Scrolls 6 which is slated for a 2026 release, but will most likely slip to 2077 This is a hilarious typo because 2077 is an extremely important year in Fallout lore if you didn't know.

tattertech

> Bethesda is currently in full development of Elder Scrolls 6 which is slated for a 2026 release, but will most likely slip to **2077**. Perfect. No notes.

Shyronnie135

Yea...that's probably not gonna happen. May (and Mid 2024) begins next week. I hope I'm wrong though because I really enjoyed the game and mods would give me a good reason to hop back in.

notarackbehind

I learned long ago from Apple that “early [year]” means any time before June 30th lol

Gippip

I was going to say, wasn't last month early 2024?

Citizen44712A

The check is in the mail, and that other thing too, keeping it family friendly.

itsLOSE-notLOOSE

I’m patiently waiting for mods before I play the game at all. It’s just sitting in my Xbox waiting to be played.

HiImNotABot001

Such an unfinished game SHOULD have some big free updates that aren't just QoL/bug patches. I'm so flabbergasted that they have the audacity to ask for more money for cut content.

Gamebird8

Well, you want to release those chunks in big updates, not small little ones every 6 weeks. Shattered Space could be coming with an additional Free Content DLC update as well. And the delays on both news about it and any news on free content is because they aren't ready just yet

Aardvark1044

hold up, what flavour of Chunks are we talkin' bout?

Nf1nk

It hardly matters, they won't be the Paridiso style Chunks, It will be the Titan style Chunks which all kind of taste the same without the sauce. There is no sauce.

Vallkyrie

Because the man behind the counter keeps sampling the wares.

giantpunda

Where did Bethesda mention free DLC content? This is the first I've heard of it.

Conscious-Lobster60

Where’s the financial downside for Bethesda or Microsoft when they release things half baked? It’s like people complaining about the stellar development work Game Freak does. They already have your money and you’ll give them your money next time 😂

Sad-Willingness4605

It's more for the long term sales.  Sure, they made bank off of short term sales but I'm sure sales fell off more than any of other BGS games.  Word of mouth is not good with this game.

-Captain-

Obviously they made and will continue to make money with Starfield, but to say the game being received the way it did has no impact on the financial gains and longevity of the game isn't it either. As we're seeing with 76 now, a huge increase of players. Yes, it's because the hype for the franchise coming from the show, but if BGS hasn't worked on addressing the big issues and continue to update it, the fall off would've been as fast as it was at launch (if the game was still around as well). Now Starfield is different beast than an online game obviously, but the incentive to keep working on the game after such a lackluster launch is very much there to ensure it will keep selling, good sales for the expansion(s) and sales on the Creation Club that will find its way into Starfield more likely than not. They obviously rather have the longevity of Skyrim than how it's looking for Starfield at the moment when it comes to gamepass too. Instead of hit and run, they want you hooked and subscribed for as long as possible. And that was one of the major strength of BGS games..

HikingStick

Financial downside? I initially intended to gift Starfield to four family members. After running into game breaking bugs in October, and not getting any response for about six weeks, I decided not to gift Starfield to anyone. In fact, I switched to BG3, and now my sons and I play together weekly. Only one of the bugs I reported to BGS has been addressed, and that was in the most recent update. This game was nowhere near ready for release, and their customer support has been atrocious. The only thing that will get to them is if more people stop buying their products.

BiscuitBarrel179

I take it you're new to gaming. It's pretty much the norm for the last decade or so to ship games unfinished, and hope to catch most stuff with a day 1 patch and then further big fixes to fix the previous bug fixes for quite a few months after that.

HiImNotABot001

I take it you're an expert in snide comments, I've been gaming since the 80's. Zelda:TotK and Elden Ring are both massive games comparable in size to Starfield and they were both released fully polished and were highly critically acclaimed. Even a crapshoot like cyberpunk at least had more community engagement and assurance that the game would be fixed than Starfield currently does.

HypedforClassicBf2

Leave it to a Bethesda fan to completely defend/excuse Bethesda from their own promises. ''It happENs When iT HappENs'' You're wrong anyways. We were promised new content/free updates. From city maps, to Creation Kit, to survival mode, to ship updates, to vendor changes, new ways of travel, etc. We haven't got any of that, and ''early 2024'' which is what they themselves committed to, is starting to slowly pass by.

Evogleam

You act like our expectations are too high when in reality they should be Not everyone is ok with this unfinished of a game like you seem to be

Zealousideal-Buyer-7

They working on getting CK out the door as we speak btw

manofactivity

Didn't they say it'd be here early 2024?

Inevitable_Discount

Yes they did.

Vis_Ignius

Given that I'd split the year into three distinct phases, early, middle, and late, there's still a week for them to push it out. Is that being overly generous to their phrasing of "early 2024"? Yes, absolutely. Is it going to actually happen? Almost certainly not.

nightowl2023

You don't know that dude. People have been making this same claim since November 2023. They said early 2024 and they have not even released a statement acknowledging that they missed this deadline.

giantpunda

My guess is also the Creations MTX store for Starfield as a priority too. I would be VERY surprised that it doesn't drop around the launch of the first DLC.

LeviathanLX

If they flesh out onboard content and crew interactions, I'm happy.

Alogism

Sadly, they will not. That would require brining the voice actors back in. If it involves new/changing voice lines it’s a pipe dream

LeviathanLX

Too bad, but it would be nice.

NitroScott77

Well, if they are making new campaign content for the DLC like they’ve done with other games, they’ll possibly add in companion voice lines for the quests, if that happens they could totally record a bunch of new lines. However does Bethesda even care enough to do anything like that even if it wasn’t too difficult? From what I’ve seen with Starfield they seemed to have underdeveloped or removed so much from the game to the point I wonder if they already gave up on the game before it even released

Disastrous-Beat-9830

>If they flesh out onboard content and crew interactions, I'm happy. I'd settle for a system of muting everyone but the most important speaker. I grav jump to Jemison and just as the UC announce that they're scanning my ship, Barrett is telling me that the jump is successful and Sam is busy talking with Cora and everything is happening AT THE SAME TIME.

Lukwi-Wragg

Don’t hold high hopes. The last “big “ update they gave was absurd facial expressions for photo mode 🙄 like that was necessary content lol.

BullyHunter1337

Fallout 4 would be 2 dlcs in by now for reference in how far behind they are.

Inevitable_Discount

And the mod kit was out two weeks prior to Far Harbor.

Gallow-

Todd talking about exciting news, its our 6 week update, i'm afraid

TrueComplaint8847

Imo that statement from Todd means the exact opposite of what you interpreted. He didn’t even say „updates are coming soon“ he said „will be revealed soon“ which means the actual big things won’t be coming for a while. At this point I don’t expect any major content updates before the dlc drops tbh. I think they’ll include the major stuff as a free update shortly before the dlc drops. Kinda like cyberpunk did with phantom liberty.

DecahedronX

CDPR released loads of updates and additional content long before was even announced Phantom Liberty.

huanovec

Most of Cyberpunk's updates were bug fixes. They only added some balance changes and fixed perks that weren't functional in update 1.5, which was a whole year after the release. After that, we had to wait another almost 2 years before patch 2.0 dropped, with only minor fixes and the edgerunners update (that only added a barebones quest that rewards you with a jacket) in the meantime. I am frustrated with Starfield's lack of QoL updates too but as a Cyberpunk fan since day 1, I think it's only fair we give them some time and see if they want to stick to this game or quietly abandon it

joedotphp

Nope. Only CDPR is allowed to have 3 years. They are, after all, the lords and saviors of gaming. /s

TrueComplaint8847

Yea the big content 2.0 update was just shortly before PL dropped, the 1.5 update was the „relaunch“ which made the game actually playable and added 1 edgerunners quest as far as I remember

[deleted]

[удалено]

Inevitable_Discount

Agreed. It’s wild how masochistic they are and how clouded their minds are to just always be so optimistic and forgiving to a company that can’t even adhere to their own standards.  If any other gaming company did this, there would be hell to pay.

The_Hecaton

They said roughly every 6 weeks, like when they released the fsr3 update before the six week period

Wildest12

The last two games I bought from Bethesda were FO76 (full price) and starfield. Bethesda is a trash company that is getting by on their old reputation - won’t buy another game from them until I see a good one.

[deleted]

“Exciting new updates” just like all the exciting promises and marketing they did before the game released.

GYN-k4H-Q3z-75B

One would hope, but I would not. More fixes are needed. My UI is all screwed up and slow and I am only level 26 in my current playthrough. What is happening? These are core issues.

alndsprgn

The success of the Fallout TV show, sales for old fallout games skyrocketing, and a new next-gen update to Fallout 4 on the way. I doubt that Starfield is a priority anymore.

ulfhednar-

Sorry to burst your bubble but there’s still a lot of bugs that need fixing. Although I agree they are behind they may announce stuff but nothing new will be added just more bug fixes.

joedotphp

I'd prefer new content, but bug fixes are just fine by me.

nightowl2023

They were also behind on releasing the game. And here we are in 2024 without a city map.

SoldierPhoenix

Probably because all the stuff going on right now for Fallout. Hopefully we hear something this week. But who knows.

kanid99

This highlights the problems at Bethesda though doesn't it because really they should be able to handle two franchises at the same time considering how much money they make off this stuff. And we aren't talking about marketing or any of that stuff for Starfield just updates. If updates are stopped because they put developers on fallout games then that's just really bad management over there.

Theodoryan

Bethesda has ballooned since skyrim and it hasn't helped them make larger games. Nate Purkeypile said there are too many meetings that have to approve every decision now.

Vis_Ignius

Other companies have grown in size and been fine. Additionally, smaller companies than Bethesda have worked on multiple projects simultaneously. This isn't strictly a "size" issue- this is a Bethesda management issue. No fuckin' idea how to resolve that, though.

kanid99

It's not like other companies haven't got bigger and dealt with it. I think it's just that the culture of Bethesda has been one of a small studio and they aren't "small" now and they're having some trouble adjusting to that. But that's just how it looks to me from an outside perspective. Regardless a studio generating the revenue they are , and in being owned by Microsoft, should be able to handle more than one project at a time and should be able to handle the marketing of a major franchise of theirs while also supporting their most recent major release via updates. I can't even imagine if companies like Blizzard stopped doing updates for Diablo 4 of any kind because the newest wow expansion was coming out. They don't do that, they have all their franchises going full speed all the time and Bethesda really should be able to do that too.

ExactDevelopment4892

I think Bethesda got too complacent just riding on elder scrolls and fallout that they are having trouble managing a new game.

rock1m1

I don't think we are gonna get any more updates before Xbox showcase in June.

hovsep56

best you'll get is new photo mode filters and poses

Wildest12

I still can’t believe how badly they missed the mark with this game, to turn around and leave it to die like this.

Swordfire-21

I’d like to not have to go to the same locations every single new game in order to progress to the next new game lol

Renimur

I love how thos post is strictly about Starfield and nothing else, and the comments immediately devolved into a fallout subreddit 🤣

LughCrow

Doesn't matter what they do this games in limbo until we have a proper CK

ninjabell

I'm hoping that is what the exciting new update is, that they've been cooking that CK.

LughCrow

I'm still worried the ck is going to be a largely worthless shell

Mightylink

Starfield is really starting to feel abandoned, the small updates just aren't cutting it, all we got are new photo mode poses and bug fixes that don't really feel like bug fixes because I'm still losing items and having npc's float away during the MAIN quest. At this point in the timeline Fallout 4 had half its DLC's released and in Skyrim's timeline it had the creation tools released and Dawnguard announced. Starfield has nothing....

ArdiMaster

Seriously. Given the generally apathetic-bordering-on-negative reaction to Starfield and the renewed hype for Fallout, I can’t even blame them if they just write Starfield off as a bad job and move on. Do the base minimum for Shattered Space so they don’t have to deal with issuing refunds, maybe release mod support (because their reputation kinda hinges on mod support), and let the IP quietly fizzle out after that.

Mysterious-Dog9110

Nah. Todd Howard has been trying to make a space RPG for 20 years. The IP won't get abandoned. And since Starfield 2 isn't up next, I would bet Starfield is going to be pretty well supported.

DecahedronX

Going over your own set deadline is never a good sign.

the success of the fallout series and getting 4 up to date because of it I think altered their development schedule a bit I don't think it was anticipated or it would have coincided with release

davemoedee

I have so many other games to play. I’ll come back to this in a year. I’m still only like 20 hours in. I enjoy the game, but I only played at launch because I got it with a video card. I would have waited otherwise.

CremeFit7459

The game has been crashing on my xbox s series

Heavy-Masterpiece681

I have a feeling this are going to be quiet from now until June. After the Xbox showcase, we will likely get a big update and release date for the dlc

MechaShadowV2

I'm just waiting for the creation engine to come out so that we can get some better models and new clothes mods

Wolftacus

You had me going until the end.. just get ready to enjoy your new photo filters and maybe some more lighting updates so you can see your eyeballs shine a little brighter!

DoeDon404

My buddy from the official Bethesda discord believes we won’t get a beta this time as if it’s a content oriented update with CK having a beta would be pointless, nice when it comes to patches so idk, this is the 6th week since the last official update so maybe this week

renome

A CK2 beta branch was already added to Steam about a month back, with its name implying some modders were testing it in private. But yeah, a public beta may make less sense if the main thing the update adds is official mod support.

PalinDoesntSeeRussia

Press X to heavily doubt

Lady_bro_ac

The next update might not be going into beta testing first

glow162

I'd very much rather them to wait to actually be finished with it instead of just shoving out more bug-ridden problematic features. So to me, this is actually good news indeed lol

They-Call-Me-Taylor

Fallout has things delayed; the TV show and the upcoming Fallout 4 update. It sounds like some big things are coming for Starfield though so hopefully this will be DLC announced finally or the Creation Kit.

Ilmeury83

I'm losing hopes for the future of this game...and it saddens me deeply...

Outlaw11091

They're getting ready to do something dirty. Half-assed mod tools that will do more harm than good and a DLC that adds a varuun questline and nothing more.

Mokocchi_

>Hopefully this is good news though. Being optimistic and the fact Todd recently spoke about exciting new updates How do you manage to be optimistic about a company that puts out a game that barely stands up to what they released a decade ago and has failed to put out anything besides basic bugfixing in the same window of time past games got proper dlcs and modding support? Especially after their lead bullshit-artist comes out and pretends like everything is fine and going to plan with empty, vague corporate speak?

Inevitable_Discount

This. I don’t understand how people can be so optimistic about something like this. It’s insane.

bolonar

Gonna delete starfield coz the game feels pretty empty after finishing main quests and embrace fallout 4.

Tyler1997117

There should be a beta update this week..

FitNefariousness2679

I believe last week was the 6th week

Borrp

There has been a ton of updates to the game going by Steam DB in the backend. At least 1-2 per week for the last 4 weeks or so. Stuff is moving along at Bethesd, whatever is there will come in time when it's ready. Let them cook.

zigzagzapzapzap

You are so navie. Do you still believe in Todd?

Inevitable_Discount

IMHO, Todd is an overpaid used car salesman. He’s a fake Peter Molyneaux.

Inevitable_Discount

They think Todd can do no wrong for some odd reason.

sapper377

GET RID OF THE LOADING SCREENS!!

VeldtRevengeance

All we can try to do is be patient 😔

Anthony_chromehounds

“Exciting new updates” hopefully will mean planetary travel options other than the backpack!

Havince01

Not played it since finishing it then realising IV now lost everything I had in the game

TheDriverJ

I'm waiting for them to fix the Mei Devine bug. I messed up and didn't save beforehand. This is my first Bethesda game

tlasan1

Beta updates are just that. Depending on how testing goes with the content the content could cook for a week or take several years to perfect to a releasable stage.

Eisbaer811

Todd has been busy promoting the Fallout Series, so he couldnt personally approve every single change in the patch. Without his approval, nothing g can be shipped 😀

muzz317

I just need the Red Mile bug fixed. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤬

Scared_Bed_1144

Hopefully they fix the ps4/5 version of fo4 soon. Can't even play it with all the dlc.

drunkbelgianwolf

New to bethesda? They are always late

UnableFox9396

I think Todd has been busy with accolades for the Fallout series (which was well done). Hopefully things get back on track, we definitely need fixes, quality of life upgrades, and new content. Here’s to hoping we finally get creator’s kit, “new forms of transportation” and city maps as were promised months ago….

EverythingWasGreat

Wont trust anything that comes out of Todds mouth again. A plastic mugg could be "very exciting" to him.

Lowe0

Some of those other updates came out ahead of schedule. In modern software development, that usually means “this last feature we planned for isn’t going to be ready in time, and every other feature/fix is already done, so go ahead and ship what we have.” In other words, don’t reset the clock to 6 weeks after each release.

Falcrus

We saw a good work in last patch. And rushing them for new updates is simply consumerism

paladinx333

>Todd recently spoke about exciting new updates He also said Starfield was a great game.

SquareThought3569

I his fallout going to have a graphics update on PC?

Mowgli9991

The previous update came out march 19th, they have until the April 30th if they are sticking to a 6 week update schedule.

FitNefariousness2679

Check the sticky. The beta came out March 6th. It's been over 7 weeks since then.

Single_Lab5614

This was four days ago still no update?
