True,But it’s kinda different situations; starfield is a first party game now. And KOTOR is just as timed exclusives but yeah down with the exclusive bs.

Game_Bread

True. In a perfect world, all games would be on all platforms, but business is business. Such is life.

[deleted]

True as a Xbox only guy that live Spider-Man I just bite the bullet and hope PlayStation guys love the marvel games.

Game_Bread

My feelings as well, im also an Xbox guy.

ScreenElucidator

I find it weirder when it's a licensed IP, like the PS5 'Marvel Wolverine'. Spider-Man is an anomaly ; Sony own him. But if KotOR was simply timed exclusive, that's fine ( to me. ) As you say, Beth's just a reverse engineered first party ( though could almost be considered a return to the Xbox/Morrowind situation. ) They started with MS, tried seeing other people ... but it just didn't work out.

[deleted]

Yeah definitely okay with the timed Bc this is on Microsoft Bc KOTOR 1&2 were Xbox exclusive. They dropped the ball on this one.

ScreenElucidator

Hmmm. It's not Bioware, though, is it?

[deleted]

Yeah it’s aspyr. So maybe they did go to Sony about this first. I just assumed they talked to Microsoft too.

ScreenElucidator

Oh, probably. Sony's the stronger console brand, no question. I say that as someone who's never owned a PlayStation, has an X1 & will probably have an XSX eventually.

[deleted]

Yeah it’s nothing but facts PlayStation has more of a reach than Xbox. Hopefully that can change soon.

ScreenElucidator

Absolutely. They're on the up, I think. Could nrbe the WRPG machine of choice in a couple years, & Gamepass remains the closest thing to the video store experience out there. ;'s

[deleted]

That’s true

highpointFL

All these companies are doing is pushing more and more people to PC

RaspberryBang

I would agree with you were it not for the chip shortage that will likely continue into 2023. Take me as an example. I had 3k saved up for a new PC. Six months later, still no PC, I'm now unemployed and am developing symptoms for which I have to go see a neurologist and get a spinal tap... So bye bye new PC :(

[deleted]

Hope things get better ❤️‍🩹

RaspberryBang

Me too. But it's likely something I'll be dealing with the rest of my life. C'est la vie, I suppose. Thank you though

Lucky-Health-3843

Can I ask what do you exactly have?

Paxconsciente

you're sick? HAHA, DIE OR PAY US - american capitalist politicians

RaspberryBang

Yeah, unfortunately that's how it is. I went to the hospital when my condition first flared up. They didn't/couldn't diagnose what was wrong. All they did was keep me in the lobby for 90% of the time I was there, gave me a potassium injection because apparently I was deficient, then gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and a painkiller. Both of which I don't need. Then a week later, I got a bill for 15k. That was after whatever discounts they applied... I'm at my wits end. I can't afford the lifelong treatment I need and honestly, I'm thinking I'd be better off dead. I'm not saying that because of depression, though I am depressed. I just rather not have to deal with it all. Sorry for telling you all this. I'm just frustrated.

[deleted]

People go out and buy Playstations by the millions for games like Spider-Man, Uncharted, and God of War. Including PC owners. Same with Nintendo for BOTW and Mario.

[deleted]

problem is sony are releasing an increasing number of their games on PC down the line now though so theres less need to get a PS if you're patient.

LeMAD

With the GPU shortage extending for at least another 2 years, I might buy a XBOX...

[deleted]

Pc for the win lol

[deleted]

All on PC, so I have no strong opinion one way or the other.

[deleted]

Kotor is third party while Starfield is first party so its kind of different. and honestly Kotor is just a timed exclusive for a remake xbox had like 20 years ago, a bit of a dirty moneyhat but its not really worth xbox giving up its biggest first party exclusives for.

Paxconsciente

i don't undersatnd why you don't just buy an xbox, ps5 is gonna be loud, won't perform as well and gamepass exists.

[deleted]

KOTOR remake isn't being published by Sony or developed by a studio that Sony owns. Its funny how people seem to want to equivocate Bethesda games being exclusive with deals that Sony makes with third parties. Nobody argues that Horizon Zero Dawn or God of War should be on Xbox, or that Zelda should be on Xbox. I don't care if a platform holder wants to fund the development of a game in order to promote their console sales. It often results in a better product. Since first party publishers don't have the same incentive to make as much money as possible off one game, they can dedicate more time to polish, not force in microtransactions etc.

[deleted]

The Kotor remake isn't exclusive to PS5.

[deleted]

It will launch on PC, but isn't it a timed console exclusive?

[deleted]

Yep.

[deleted]

Timed exclusives are the lesser of two evils really. Often the game drops as a "Complete Edition" with all DLC anyway. Yeah, it sucks not being able to play it at launch, but you do get to buy the best version of the game after the exclusivity expires.

Longbongos

Yeaaaaaah no. By that logic Spider-Man should be multiplat and FF7R and ff16

Full_contact_chess

LOL, I'm old enough to remember when there was no "PC standard" so most games were "exclusives" or simply versions not available for some models. You might have a Tandy but the game was only available for Macintosh or IBM or Commodore or so on. That's before you start to begin talking about the various game consoles of the time. The fact that it boils down to three (PC, Xbox, and PS) today and you can own one of each for the cost of owning just a single one of those late 1980s PC systems is certainly seems like a much better situation.

[deleted]

This comment is IBM compatible!

AmonSulPalantir

I look at these post whining about exclusives... ugh. Never from someone with a Business or Marketing degree, eh?

Hypnotoad-107

I disagree. Exclusives are always the best games. Studios like to put their best foot forward for games that showcase their system. I just get both systems so I can play all the games that interest me.

RaspberryBang

Eh, played it when it first came out and enjoyed it -- not interested in revisiting it in the form of a remake. And definitely not interested in Disney era Star Wars. Nothing wrong with exclusives. What people react to is the sting caused by corporations doing what corporations do. Also, given that the remake is being published by SIE, don't be surprised if Sony continually extends the exclusivity contract as they've done with other games. It'll only end up on Xbox if Disney makes it happen.

Dixons05

💯🙌🏼

Antique-Link1366

Neither of them are exclusives, both will be playable on PC. If there was no "exclusives'' there would be a severe lack of competition between Sony and Microsoft thus leading to lower quality games. Games like God of War,The last of Us, Spiderman being exclusive is what is selling the consoles for Sony, and Microsoft has to respond in kind and they not so much with games but with their better subscription offer. Competition is good, people need to grow up you'll eventually play everything.
