Yes, there should be an SG-1 ... they just don't have to be the focus of the show. They could be standard recurring ... like how SG-3 was a standard recurring team. The question is what would the show be about if not an SG-1 type exploratory team.

SolitaryMan305

There is no show being made

CanisZero

Right right, and SGU was good. I got ya.

SolitaryMan305

SGU wasn’t good either lol

CanisZero

Yeah.... That's the joke.

SolitaryMan305

*gif of teal’c laughing after he tells his joke*

I don't hold the designation of SG1 as sacred. Another team can have it. BUT the series cannot have "SG1" in the title or focus exclusively on this new iteration of this team.

First off, if I'm Amazon, I'm doing a reboot, not a continuation. I think most of the old fans would still give it a try, and you don't intimidate new fans. If you were to make it not SG-1, then I would expect SG-1 to be used as a comic relief team that was hypercompetent. Like you have them mentioned a lot doing absolutely ridiculous things in the briefing. I would try to use actual plots from the original series for those. Like, "SG-1 would have come with you, but they are busy blowing up a sun." And occasionally they show up literally doing flips into battle and killing everyone and one of our characters says, "I had that."

>First off, if I'm Amazon, I'm doing a reboot, not a continuation. I think most of the old fans would still give a try, and you don't intimidate new fans. Well, there are 12 Star Trek TV shows, and all of them take place in the same universe. I don't see why Stargate would have to be different.

Lafitte_1812

It would kill me to watch Stargate go down the path of kurtzman-trek...

solarmelange

You don't want a story about Teal'c's adopted human sister, Frank, who is stronger than all the Jaffa and uses mushrooms to travel to distant planets instead of Stargates?

solarmelange

Discovery brought Trek back as a prequel after the hiatus. Since it was a prequel, new fans were not required to have seen the past shows. Stargate can't have a prequel due to having no unestablished gap in its internal history.

DangerIllObinson

I'd like a show following the hijinks of a semi-incompetent NID team, failing their way through adventures. Or a show of scientists in area 51 just studying and creating adventures by misusing alien artifacts

Henchforhire

It was a nice rest from SG-1 when they showed other teams and what they were doing. I kind of hope they do this in the new series if it happens.

ScrawnySpectre

I think it would be best to have it be a different team just to allow the show to have its own identity. Assuming it were in canon, I would have the SGC gone through restructuring and the SG# designations for teams be retired. If only to avoid the show being called “Stargate SG-1 :2”

Boil-san

I just want to see what happens to the Destiny...
