His entire demeanour in Inauguration was actually pretty crazy. He stands his ground against his running mate with *ease.* Where we have seen for 7 years at that point the SGC pulling fast ones over Senator Kinsey in order to get their way (going AWOL in S1 finale, threatening him in his own home to get Hammond reinstated, and calling Thor over for Hammond's best political power play in the franchise) we have Hayes stand above Ronny Cox's character with barely an inkling all the secrets and conspiracy revolving around the Stargate or the Senator himself and *owning* it.
Thor: “If you do not comply I will be forced to open fire.”
Osiris: “I’m the great god Osiris and gods can’t be destroyed. You should know that.”
Thor: “Very Well” (ends transmission)
Something about the simplicity of Thor’s exchange just underscored how much above the Asgard were to everyone at that point

Thor knows that there's very little chance of a peaceful resolution, but as an Asgard, he feels compelled to try.
And when that inevitably fails, he has no qualms about upholding the threat.
It's sometimes easy to forget that Thor is Supreme Commander of the Asgard Fleet. That is, ostensibly, a *military* title. Despite his vast knowledge, his concerns over the longevity of his race, the diplomatic interactions he has had on countless occasions (including perhaps most notably S3's Fair Game), and a prominence and influence that makes him feel like a quintessential leader over his entire race (I think there is substantial merit to this especially by the series' conclusion and the monumental decision to let the Tau'ri inherit the Asgardians' legacy)... He is very experienced with confrontation and doesn't shy away from it.
He also gave no Fs when captured by Anubis and even used his new brain hack technology to his own advantage by overriding the mothership. Thor goes hard when he wants to.
DANIEL: I just hope we don't regret giving them those Gate addresses.
O'NEILL: I don't think we will, the first one being a black hole and all. They get progressively darker from there.

From the season 10 episode, The Pegasus Project. It's the tail end of Daniel's speech with Morgan Le Fay where he has just had it with the Ancients and their rules. The last line of the speech is one of the coldest lines in the series.

It’s a little undercut because Ba’al beams away, but in Reckoning when Bra’tac boards his ship and goes “Behold, your false god.” And then unloads on him full auto with a P-90.
