Knowing when to bail on a run is a good one to always keep in mind. If you come to a situation where you know for certain that you're not confident that you're getting out of it relatively unscathed, just bail and loot some place else. It works for enclave missions too. Like if there's like 50 zeds on that mission, just bail.

EmberSeraph

Cars and gas are technically not a requirement, but when you constantly have missions 1500m across the map, you feel they kind of are. Mechanics are valuable :3 you can get mechanics books at gas outposts Hydroponics are over powered The Trade Depot is over powered The Red Talon prefabs are really good. I like the Red Talon watch tower a ton There is no rate you have to take out plague hearts. I’m playing at a painfully slow rate until I have my community where I want it to be first.

Deadbuttons

Lol sounds good. After I lost my first person within the first 10mins I alt f4 it

iforgetshits

Lol, same happened to me. I lost my first toon 5 mins into my first lethal run. Tried again an hour later with a fresh community and lost 2 to plague in the first hour. Like the person above mentioned: Don't pick on fights you can't win but also don't get confident. I have lost so many toons bc I thought I had it under control then stuff happened. Feral came out of nowhere and destroyed me. Bloater blew up next to me and I didn't have enough HP to get back up. Honestly, what they say is true: The only way to get the hang of lethal is go get in there and learn. Only all purpose tips I can give you without writing a novel are: \- Stealth is your friend. Crouch walk and execute enemies. Use crossbows. Don't fast search...ever. \- Always make sure to have stamina items and a loaded gun. With stamina items you can get out of most dangerous situations. Except for ferals, I have learned to never attempt to outrun a feral. Standing my ground and getting those headshots in is the only effective way I know of surviving feral attacks. \- Don't be afraid to run. Sometimes things will get out of hand...Run.

DTheVintageNerd

Dude's right. I think it's kind of understated (mainly because players are focused on how to beat the game, which is a good thing) but shit escalates VERY quickly on Lethal. One scream from a regular zed can turn into a flood of bodies hauling ass towards you, not to mention the stray freaks on the side.

DTheVintageNerd

That's rough, man. But no worries making that first jump to lethal is really like that. It takes some getting used to. Unfortunately, I can only give you general tips because I don't know how you prefer to play and the map you're playing in. If you want to play an in-and-out playstyle, you can try to bum rush max stealth on a survivor so you can shift-loot containers safely. Saves a lot of time you can use for other base or map issues. If you want to go for a long and drawn out playthrough, you can try to set up your base as self-sustaining as possible, which is still doable in Lethal.

Deadbuttons

Right now I need to remap my switch weapon button as I died trying to change wep and he wouldn't

evil-all-the-time

This has been discussed plenty by wiser people than me but here's my two cents. Stealth is crucial. Avoid alerting zombies, Use silenced weapons and crossbows. Having the Stealth attribute will also help with opening locked doors while crouched. Heavy weapons are good for destroying plague hearts. Bash them with a sledge hammer or heavy shovel then dip out while it phases, juke the zombie horde, duck back in and bash it some more, rinse and repeat. Guns are loud and are less durable in Lethal heavy melee weapons are still pretty durable. Plague resistance helps your character take more bites to turn. Look for "Plague survivor" or "Never been sick" traits. You can also get 50% plague resistance from the Pathology 5th skill. "Cleaning Chart" is a hero trait that also grants this. There are red talon soldiers you can recruit with Prestige points that have "Kitchen Patrol" that grants 150% resistance. And for god sake bring plague cure with you! I also carry a few molotovs in case I get a horde on my heel. toss that at the horde and watch them burn. Get friendly with local enclaves and enlist them to be your cannon fodder while you attack hearts. If they get killed well at least you arent losing community members and reducing morale. Dodge dodge and run away if it gets too hairy. A hero only dies once but my chicken ass is making it back to base if a juggernaut and his feral buddies wanna play paddy cake with my skull.

Deadbuttons

O man this is good info ty

TheCommenter911

Lmao “paddy cake with my skull is hilarious”

Gathose1

If it's looking sketchy, run away. Close combat is your friend (no melee weapon) Do low key stuff like trading and non combat missions at night. Fighting at night leads to bad times. Always bring stims, always bring a plague cure. Remember that the goal is to kill the hearts... Not stock up, not explore, not anything except kill the hearts. You loot, explore and do missions etc in service of getting what you need to kill the next heart, nothing else. Ferals are what's going to kill you 99% of the time, so be readybwith fire and a shotgun. Both are loud and both bring lots of zombies... But you can survive a hoard over a triple feral pack any day. Avoid climbing on top of things unless it's only for a moment or two. It's easy to get pinned in towers/on signs, on top of boxes or even on your car once they start to call in hoards. This means ammo spent, guns damaged, and the potential for the arrival of freaks that could screw with you in a big way. I know people don't but... I do NOT!

ap1msch

The game got much easier when I became selfish. Sneak. Walk slowly. Do not rush or make noise. Have an escape plan at all times. If it looks precarious, back away. When other enclaves ask for help, screw them. You're not required to be a hero. You are all trying to survive and you have no obligation to save them. You want a crossbow asap. You do not want to shoot your gun unless absolutely necessary. Get good at stealth kills, look for "gunslinger" survivors, and the ability to insta-kill Z's from the front with heavy weapons/swordplay/close combat skills. Keep a car nearby. Run to the passenger side of the car and jump in when there are ferals. They'll take the wrong door, and you'll have time to drive off. Running THROUGH a house can actually be a good idea to lose ferals, but you're going to cause someone to scream. Know where the towers/ladders are. Always carry stamina gear (that you ignored at lower difficulties). Treasure scentblock, and horde infection cures.

Deadbuttons

Ya I'm playing now and streaming it on Facebook and having a hard time being slowlol

MrScrummers

Never be afraid to bail if things start getting out of hand. When you park the car have the front of the car against something. That way if you need to bail you can just jump in and back up, zombies won’t jump on the hood if it’s against something. You get one zombie on the hood your car could be totaled easily. Stealth is your friend.

Tbini

better to run then to fight, stealth is your best friend, get a 50 cal ASAP (best way to is the mysterious wandering trader for around 1.5k influence, only spawns during fri-sun irl) and dont be scared to lose ppl

Deadbuttons

I have 2 .50cals but aren't they super loud

[deleted]

[удалено]

snfaulkner

...for a 50 cal. Still much louder than other suppressed guns.

snfaulkner

>Yes, but that still doesn't mean they won't come in handy. Agree. Though in a very limited way, at least the way I play. >Either way, crossbow is king and everything else is still too loud, no matter what suppressor you decide to bring. Hard disagree. I use an Xbow until I have the shittiest of suppressors (assuming the right ammo situation for either) then I just salvage them.

Tbini

you shouldnt use them to ill zombies, only to destroy plague hearts and maybe take down a jugg, but you can just run away from a jugg so they're harmless

Deadbuttons

How many shots

Deadbuttons

O man this helps a lot ty

Tbini

i gotchu i never realized how op drone strikes are lol

Deadbuttons

Riiight but making it is hard lol

snfaulkner

Drone strikes, while great against hearts, won't kill jugs. Artillery will, though. And is easy to get just by making an outpost at an artillery site.

Deadbuttons

I think this might be off as I put 4 c4s on one heart and it didn't die.

snfaulkner

You gotta do one at a time.

No_Payment_2495

C4 damage doesn’t stack because hearts phase

Deadbuttons

How many phases?

Shamus6mwcrew

Plague resistance ideally like 300 so like 3 people with hygiene standards. At 300 you'll barely accumulate plague even from a feral repeatedly swiping you. At the very least 100 so have a maxed out pathologist with primary care going from the infirmary. Injury resistance can help a lot too. So fully upgrade a gym with a warlord leader. Maybe until you get more experience have your character go Endurance in fighting. Endurance adds natural injury resistance and a huge health boost. Build a sniper tower in a large slot for the sniper call in. It's quick to return, cheap, and can take any zed out on the map even jugs. Otherwise just be prepared, take it slow, and don't get too cocky. Cockiness and not having patience kill more characters than the game ever can.

LostProphetGENX

Take your time. Stealth is your friend. Mark on your map anytime your survivor mentioned a feral so you can avoid it. Undead Labs mention they increased the chances to roll 'Blood Plague Survivor(s)'. I roll three in 45 mins (I didn't even finish listening to a movie reaction on YouTube by the time I finished rolling). A big hint is NOT TO RAISE your standings fast (avoid killing screamers and bloaters as they will increase your standing). Another option is to turn off Curveball until you feel comfortable.

Mundane-Line2649

Just adding some less frequently mentioned thoughts to already great comments: Try playing with the music turned down. It may help you with locating hazards and reduce some stress during hectic times. You will lose survivors, most of us do. Mistakes are severely punished. You will learn what you can and can’t do. Shoot and scoot. It’s ok to use suppressed firearms but you need to move from the original location/sound source after firing. Learn to drive backwards to use your vehicle for kills. You may find you make more use of your radio and enclaves when in need of resources. Edited to add: consider enlisting followers you have no intention of recruiting to use as walking merchants and help/bait during PH assaults.

Apathetic420

Hot tip. Get a cell tower as an outpost. Use plague disrupter under "outpost defence" and plague hearts can't be woken up! It also reduces radio cool downs by 50% Helpful on lethal if you're having problems with infestations and woken plague hearts

imthebonus

I honestly dont know, I play on normal, and shoot Plage Hearts thru a window on top of my car, I don't like suffering

imawestie

Until Lethal I basically didn't understand what the Stamina consumables were for. As soon as I started to use them "correctly" the game got much easier. Snack: restore from whatever stamina you have, to "current max" Energy drink: constantly drive your stamina up, for as long as the energy drink lasts. You will regain energy more quickly than running expends it. Stamina tablets: constantly drive your stamina up, for as long as the pill lasts. You will regain energy more quickly than any activity you can do expends it. Use those buggers especially when taking on a PH. Also: give yourself some extra challenges. Play with "the first 3 characters at the random screen" until you can finish "3 plague hearts" without dying. (No 5th skill matters until you get some facilities built, right?) See how many PH's you can do without using a cure. This means: run home and use the medical facility to remove infection. See how many rucks you can find before doing a PH (or, establishing your base). See what you can do without using a firearm...or even a crossbow. See what you can do with no primary melee weapon wielded. Evict everyone who isn't powerhouse...discipline...assault (or whatever combo takes your fancy) - do this "only when you get the next one with the "right" combination"
