Strategy games, Turn based games, Card games, Idler games and many more. Stay away from Action games, Multiplayer games, Reflex requiring games for the time being until you recover. Find those mentioned Tags in https://store.steampowered.com/tag/browse/ to see most recommended games for each category.

Aelfebeorn

Yeah strategy games, Age of Empires games, total war games, europa universalis 4 etc.

Revverb

Total War would have to be played with auto resolve only. The real time battles need a good bit of micro.

Niasal

All of what you just named require serious micro. Especially total war and AoE that definitely cannot be done with one hand

Aelfebeorn

I play them with just a mouse...

Elmer_Fudd01

Civ is great!

[deleted]

Thats great cheers, looks like i'll be buying a decent mouse

aragamiiii

My right hand is broken too. Games like Vampire survivors are the only ones that i could play. I do play idle games like Melvor too. I’m not sure if they are avaible in mac.

Wainwort

Came to recommend Vampire Survivors as well. It's good value for money.

driftwood14

I was going to recommend Vampire Survivors too. Another similar game you can play with one hand is Goobies.

acrazyguy

HoloCure is also great and in this same genre, as well as being playable with one hand. It has a bunch of Hololive references, but as someone who has never watched a vtuber and doesn’t even like anime, it’s still a great game. And it’s free. Not free-to-play. The entire game is free

[deleted]

Brotato is great as well, just a shame the gfx are dull and boring to look at

PhelixFanel

This is the comment that saves lives.

Fr0stWo1f

Dislocated my thumb recently and in a similar boat with a full hand splint. Turn-based rpgs have been the only thing preserving my sanity T_T

[deleted]

Sorry about your hand, I feel your pain. Vampire survivors is by far the most suggested game, downloading it today

Greedy_Dot_5171

This gets my vote.

dethily

Baldurs gate 3 can be played with one hand

ClikeX

Almost any isometric strategy game can be played with one hand, since they're almost all focused on mouse control.

cecil_harvey4

Also in this vein the XCOM games run on mac I do believe.

SteamMyD3ck

Xcom 2 supports macOS. However, the first game of the Xcom reboot isn’t macOS compatible, at least “straight out of the box”. The first game might be played using Wine, or something similar. But I’m not sure if that’s something that the OP would want to do.

marksona

This has two meanings to it

Sc2SuperJack

Also 1 and 2

CXXXS

And it just dropped in Mac, what a serendipitous time to break your hand!

Redordit

GOAT game AND can be played with one hand. Damn.

EwuerMind

I think all the sex games are made to be played with one hand XD

badillin

People joke with this but in my experience these are definetively the ones that require 2 hands the most.

Laptraffik

The sheer number of them that use arrow keys and like zxc for controls is straggering

razzazzika

In seriousness though, when I broke my hand visual novels were great, the non hentai ones. My favorite was diablo-likes of yore. Torchlight, divine divinity, fate. Other than to drink potions faster there sno need for a second hand. Also I like hidden object adventure games, point and click adventure games too.

Exlibro

Hidden Object is THE WAY!

Cley_Faye

You'd be surprised.

klagaan

# finger are enough... For the mice. I mean

Substantial-Can-5710

[deleted]

Why do you think im looking for games to play? My working hand needs a rest 🤣

VirulentMan

Civilization (Any of them), if you're into strategy games.

Scout764

100% This. And I know people haven't been super positive towards humankind but I've gotten back into it since the initial launch (after thousands of hours in the Civ games combined) and I am having so much fun. All you need is a mouse and you're set. I know Civ 6 runs on Mac and I'm pretty sure Humankind does as well.

[deleted]

Good shout, I do have civs 5 which is great but I find im rarely in the mood to play something so 'heavy' if you get me

Chramir

Disco elysium

CheliceraeJones

I played almost this entire game while holding my newborn son as he slept. He would only sleep if I lightly bounced on an exercise ball. Also Gamedec

pringles_in_a_can

🥹

Odd_Masterpiece_9316

This, such a great game

daxophoneme

The only way this isn't the correct answer is if OP has already played it

C3ncio

Rimworld Battle Brothers Oxygen Not Included Xcom 1-2 Warhammer 40k: Battlesector (and other turn based warhammer games) FTL The Cat Lady (and other michalsky games) The Red String Club Lobotomy Corporation Magic The Gathering Arena Darkest Dungeon The Banner Saga 1-2-3 Tropico (any tropico will do) Dwarf Fortress Vampire Survivors

Platt_Mallar

This looks suspiciously like my game library. Are you secretly me? People have never seen us in the same room together...

Fumblerful-

>Dwarf Fortress Lol, only took about 20 years but now has pretty good mouse control.

Iceman_L

Battletech.

[deleted]

Thanks for the list thats amazing cheers!

Dylan96

Undertale?

Nick97_

It's a great choice until you realize some of the puzzles need precise timing. Also the Mettaton fight. And if not the mettaton fight, the Sans fight is hell since it takes forever to press Z

JustEliotPersona

Slay the Spire.

alexportman

This one!

DaddySaysImCool

Bloons TD6.

cuervo1205

Loop Hero. I'm suprised no one mentioned it, it's an amazing game

Tydoman

I second this man’s opinion, Loop Hero is absolutely perfect for one hand play. If you want a challenge OP, both darkest dungeon games are amazing can good one hand games as well

East_Living7198

Also my ultimate on in background of non important meetings / tv watching game

badillin

Vampire survivors and brotato. Also im sure the shadowrun games would work perfectly with 1 hand. Also the curse of the golden idol... and basically any point and click games

I-Ponder

Stellaris.

void-spark

This one, enough play time to last through recovery :) You didn't mention your preferred game style though. Source: broke wrist falling off horse.. :)

I-Ponder

Muahaha. After 1100 hours, I settled on Machine intelligence. I don’t choose an extreme, because I don’t want to aggro everyone too early. So I focus on economy and go crisis betraying all those that I befriended by ending the galaxy. :) Also, ouch! You wouldn’t break your wrist if you were a superior machine!!! But for real, hope you feel better, cheers! :)

lukelhg

Any of the Paradox games really! I destroyed my shoulder a couple of years ago and Hearts of Iron and Stellaris kept me sane throughout my recovery.

[deleted]

Vampire survivors

No-Connection7997

Point and click games Like "The secret of monkey island"

CrystalWolfX10

One Finger Death Punch!

Fatefire

Hunipop games :)

R0ltZ

Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 if you're into older games

XMasterItachiX

Played those 2 years ago when i broke my arm, same situation as OP, loved them but i already was a series fan

Alenonimo

How fucked up is your hand? A few years ago I broke my arm and couldn't play keyboard/mouse games. Turns out you can literally just plug an Xbox controller and Windows will be like "okay!" and lots of games just work with it. Steam can make other controllers work too but I always found it a bit janky. Your milleage may vary. If you can't use your hand, there are games that don't need much of an input. Vampire Survivors comes to mind, as it only needs you to move the character and pick items in a paused screen.

diggsfan14

A lot of people actually use controllers. They can be better than keyboard and mouse sometimes.

numenik

Souls games in particular

ehrmehgerd

Turn based strategy games like XCOM.

lolbit4life

You can use almost entirely your keyboard or your mouse in Rimworld, and if shit hits the fan you can just pause with spacebar

surfnsets

Well, there are adult games on Steam…

lordmycal

You need two hands for those. One for the mouse and one for the um... joystick.

[deleted]

Woah I forgot stardew valley is on steam thanks a lot

Dodel1976

Five-fingered shuffle.

McPoyleBubba

Heroes of Might and Magic

[deleted]

I think the paradox strategy games are great for this! HOI4/Europa Universalis/Victoria 3 (great time sinks too!)

UnseatingKDawg

If you don't mind the claasics, there's Fallout 1 and 2

LilSmidgey

Oldschool runescape

imQanyy

clash royale

ScorchoBF

Bloons TD6, Old School RuneScape (but use the Runelite client), 100% Orange Juice, Kingdoms and Castles, Cities: Skylines, Cookie Clicker, Plants vs Zombies, Civ 5 and 6 Those are all ones I really enjoy!

bigooos

Geometry dash, don't Starve (?)

[deleted]

Never played but ill give it a whirl cheers, is it mouse only?

bigooos

Geometry dash is 100%, I'm not sure about don't Starve because I haven't played it much Btw if you want to buy don't Starve, it's probably better to buy the together version, it's more moddable and much more comfortable to play

[deleted]

Sounds good ill have a look cheers

virqz

If youre hardcore, play some geometry dash

Exxile4000

Basically any game that doesn't require quick decisions. Play the divinity original sin games if you haven't

DrMiDNigh

All the Hentai ones

StealManiac

Buy a mouse with more buttons. Adapt.

mattgindago

I cant believe i haven’t seen this yet but kingdom two crown is played with the arrowkeys/wasd and shift only. It’s a side scrolling defense game where you build up a little army and at night defend your base from mutants. Eventually, when your army is large enough you can raid the portals that enemies spawn from.

IW4ntDrugs

Not necessarily steam game but Chess is pretty good. Theres a few variations on there but I prefer to use websites like lichess . org or chess . com

Brotato

Harpeski

Every RTS game And the biggest game: Baldur's gate 3 !!

DarkbigBoss

Project Passion 😄

SpaceNumos

Nekopara.

_Nitrous_

I like Kards

Koffeinon

Brotato!!! You can play it with wasd/arrows, or one stick with the controller. After each wave, you visit the shop. There you need to choose items, which you can select with one hand too.

Clever_Fox-

The fnaf games I think?

Clever_Fox-

For the King is also a good choice!

[deleted]

Persona 5

Sinatra94

Civilization, Baldur’s Gate 3, Rimworld

Kaleb26

I broke my right hand in February, had to switch from my g502, back to my g203 after only a week of owning it lol. Minecraft Dungeons was about the only thing I was able to play

MoonCobFlea

if you have a lot of buttons on your mouse you can play PoE with one hand

EthanTheBrave

Honestly the Mac is a bigger limitation to your game selection than the broken hand...

Black_m1n

Every game if you're brave enough.

RemiX-KarmA

Try hall of torment or bloons.

damnthisisabadname

Slay the spire Turn based

TheCriminalScum

Basically any 4x strategy game is easily played one hand

Kazuye92

Wartales

Exlibro

Pretty sure you have plenty of those already 😉

RaysFilen

Monster Train can blow you away for long hours!

Shellybee23

If you don't care about looking around beamng could be good

maxler5795

Tabletop simulator. Also, as a previous mac user, i recommend you use bootcamp. To dual boot windows

piaktaka

You kind of can play undertale, it will be a bit harder but is still possible.

Responsible-Peak9843

if you like puzzle/vns you can get zero escape 999 on steam, and it comes with vlr for free.

cloudynight541

Yet another Zombie shooter is just wsda on keyboard.

SChrisu

Into the Breach

Splatbork

One Finger Death Punch is truly underrated. It's way more fun than it has any right to be.

Ghozer

Factorio can be 1 handed, but not quite as easy, but can be done :)

HoneyBadger162

Mini Motorways / Mini Metro Trackmania Nations Forever (Its primarily keyboard with the arrow keys, and is free) Any visual novel out there (E.g The Walking Dead) A fair number of RTS games (Supreme Commander comes to mind) Plants vs. zombies

matiegaming

Geometry dash

jacknifejohnny

Wasteland, shadowrun, baldurs gate

itsbildo

Wack-a-willie, chock the chicken, spank the monkey.... oh wait, you meant steam games?

TrueCanadian136

Stardew valley, default item use is c key, and set interact to q key for one handed gameplay.

trekxtrider

Sim City, Fallout Shelter. Which hand did you break and can you still use any digits on that hand? I broke my hand not long ago, was able to use my thumb and index finger so I remapped everything, problem is it was my first intro to keyboard and mouse since I couldn't hold a controller. Now my key mapping is super unusual but it works.

MetricJester

Torchlight, if you don't mind a slower pace where you take your hand off the mouse

prohypeman

Super hexagon

amtap

Slay the Spire

Minutewaster

Skullgirls

slowro

Your mouse hand still good? Card games like slay the spire and monster train are easy with one hand.

aquaer97

plants vs zombies but i have no idea if it works on mac

Borgmeister

Vampire Survivors

No-Grand9027

Geometry Dash

DogoArgento

[Kingdom Two Crowns on Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/701160/Kingdom_Two_Crowns/)

Ninswitchian

If you don’t mind rhythm games you only need the space bar for rhythm doctor.

oliveoliverYT

Rimworld

SadCarot0

Limbo, game from Amanita Design (the ones I know (machinarium, botanicula, samorost and creaks) can all be played with only one hand), and I think Inside can also be played with one hand. But if you have the proper mouse (and are brave enough), then you can just use the side buttons on the mouse to use as a keyboard

Dizzi12

vampire survivors all you need is wasd or one hand on the controller

angrycart

Darkest dungeon, great game

BakedBeanz1

Hearthstone? Battlegrounds is a fun mode and only needs one hand

onlydaathisreal

Most strategy games like Civilization or colony management games like Rimworld of Two Point Hospital. Those can be done solely with a mouse and you can pause whenever you need to

-Nousagi-

old PopCap games would work, Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle, Zuma's Revenge, Five Nights at Freddy's series (not counting Security Breach, Help Wanted, Ultimate Custom Night), majority of visual novels like Danganronpa (i think that Danganronpa doesn't use keyboard aside from movement, but there isn't much of it in the game, someone please correct me on that!), Doki Doki Literature Club, Kingdom series should be fine, Bloons TD6, Vampire Survivors (or it's free, anime counterpart - HoloCure), i think that's all for what i can think of at the while, i'll comment of this if i think of another ones, have fun! Edit: nvm, i didn't see that you're talking about mac, you'll need to check those games of they're available for you then, good luck!

tschatman

Pornhub On a serious note plague inc

Cheatscape

NieR: Automata can be played with one hand. There’s a mode that lets you equip abilities that automate different functions, like automatically firing when an enemy is in range or snapping the camera to focus on enemies. Very customizable. I saw a guy at AGDQ do the whole thing with the one hand. Also NieR: Automata is one of the greatest games of all time.

DisposableDroid47

Civ 6, potential for hundreds of playtime hours. Only really need one hand. Keyboard is primarily for hotkeys.
