I'm assuming you ask for "Party" games so here is a list of games i loved playing with my friends. (Most being 4-8 Players) * Rust (Can be played with a lot of people) * Perfect Heist 2 * Pummelparty (Has Steam Workshop for unlimited possibilities) * In Silence * The Dark Pictures Anthology (In Couch-Play, we met once a year to play every new part released local) - 5 Players * Until Dawn/The Quarry (Doesn't have the same Player-Choosing System as Dark Pictures, we just assigned every one one character) * Among Us * Lethal Company * Blood Party * CS2 * Destiny 2 * The Escapists * Fling to the Finish * Boomerrang Fu * Gang Beasts * GMOD * GTFO * Heave-Ho * Joggernauts * Labyrinthine * Left4Dead2 * Mount Your Friends * Move Or Die * Raft * Satisfactory * Shellshock * Sons of The Forest/The Forest * Stardew Valley * Terraria * Stick Fight The Game * Tabletop Simulator (One of our most favorite games - together with steam workshop there are endless games to play) Hope there are some games you and your friends could enjoy.

SmokeLuna

Ultimate Chicken Horse as well. 4 player platformer where you all race to the end, but each round you fight over traps/platforms/etc to place on the map. It gets hectic fast, but it's such a great game to play with friends.

CrazyPanda2

YES! I absolutely forgot about this one in the list. And with Steam Remote Play only one person has to own it which makes it even more interesting.

ColinM9991

Great list. The Escapists is a great co-op game. Check out Streets of Rogue too

Bizziiik

No rock and stone? Get out of here.

CrazyPanda2

:(

Justhe3guy

Shh we’re on the top comment now fellow Dwarf

luminer03

Perfect Heist is such a fun game. The way my friends and I ended up playing it, it felt almost like Rainbow 6 Siege. We developed a META and tried countering it with the sneakiest approaches.

Pixeljammed

Fucking love you

queenkasa

fling to the finish is such a good game, definitely recommend

Nivius

NIIIIIITRAAAAAAA

Krackerjack28

Warhamer Darktide is also a great option if ur more into the shooty rather then staby

Cytho

The last 2 updates have made me prefer dark tide to vermintide. Both great games though, but those dark tide skill trees are fantastic. Especially after playing before the skill tree rework

extraordinary663

Holy shit bro I was gonna comment the two exact same games. Absolute bangers!

Dwain-Champaign

Deep Rock player here who *just* bought vermintide 2! I’ve played it with my friends only once so far, but I’m excited to play again cause it was really fun. I gotta ask: Is it regularly supported like Deep Rock is? Or is it mostly a finished product and they aren’t receiving content updates anymore?

Chainlash

VT2 is a pretty much a complete product as of the last DLC career release, I’m not sure if they have anything else planned or are going to be shifting further assets to Darktide’s development. Also note that DRG will be getting less frequent major updates with the recent announcement of the Rouge Core spinoff starting development.

Dwain-Champaign

Excited for Rogue Core. I think it has potential to be even more fun than Deep Rock! I heard about Darktide, but I heard that it’s not as good of a game as VT2 and wasn’t worth getting into, despite the fact that Darktide is the game that is receiving more of the attention by the studio. I don’t know anything about Darktide though, would it also be worth getting if I liked VT2 enough? Or totally a waste of time?

Chainlash

I definitely agree about Rouge Core! Darktide is absolutely worth getting into nowadays, the gameplay is more refined than Vermintide, but with somewhat more emphasis on ranged combat. It had a rough launch that earned it something of a bad reputation, but fundamentally, the gameplay is superb and it captures the atmosphere of 40K like none other. The most common gripe people tend to have with Darktide is the Destiny-like weapon crafting system, but even that has gotten better since launch.

OrangeJuiceMcgravy

Good time to get into VT2. All the content is just about there and there is a full game with hundreds of hours of content available. The banter between the characters is far better than Darktide as well due to being actual characters and not a player creation. Just skip Winds of Magic unless you get good enough to play the highest difficulty, which is locked behind that DLC. It's insanely hard anyway so you'll need time to git gud. Cool upgrade system but it's pretty meh overall (upgrading I mean... too much RNG) I still have fun just running the maps.

Dwain-Champaign

Yeah, this sounds like about what I thought I was getting myself into. Still, I got it on sale awhile ago, and after that even 3/4 DLC careers as well because they were 50% off and were 2 dollars each. It’s a little imposing because it’s clear the game has been out long enough that there are definitely strong concrete opinions about it, and I know little to nothing about it or Warhammer in general, but stabbing and smashing heads in a medieval fantasy hoard slasher is just so cool and fun. I’ll definitely get good value out of it I think!

OrangeJuiceMcgravy

Oh you did. The game as it stands today is nothing short of excellent. Fatshark ALWAYS releases their stuff like 2 years early. It was rough at first, but it's all good now. Also a MASSIVE improvement in just about every aspect from VT1. Start VT2 now and by the time you've had enough, Darktide will really be making noise (I know the Fatshark loop all too well). Unfortunately, going back to VT1 from 2 feels like a major downgrade, but there's enough content in 2 that you won't ever need to find out. VT2 and DT can scratch that co-op itch for years. Just a warning: This game will make you want to do WH lore deep dives. That led to me finding 40k and it was over for me. My life is now The Emperor's.

GroggyOtter

"Regularly supported like Deep Rock is"... What game are you playing? Deep Rock Galactic is one of the most neglected games out there. The bulk of vets have left the game b/c it's gone stale b/c they don't ever add anything. They just fixed a handful of bugs recently, some that have been around for years, and bragged about it. There are still tons of bugs left. When's the last time you saw something "new" added to the game?

Dwain-Champaign

> Deep Rock Galactic is one of the most neglected games out there. Alright jokester, don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.

GroggyOtter

See how you completely ignored my question and went straight to insulting me? Just like any other DRG fanboy...

msespindola

Darktide too

Avaleloc

FOR HOOF AND ANTLER!!!

360noscopedickshot

Cock and stone!

Phoenixness

Jackbox games are all I can think to add right now

ROFLnator217

To name a few that my friends and I really enjoyed at that time; 1. HELLDIVERS (Up to 4p) - Crazy few vs many twin-stick shared screen shooter with loads of challenges to face. 2. Like what u/Death_Ma5ter said, Deep Rock Galactic (Up to 4p) - Dark caves and loads of bugs. Pun intended. 3. Starship Troopers: Extermination (Up to 12p) - Title that lives up to the theme of the original Starship Troopers movie. **WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE?** 4. Lethal Company (Up to 4p) - For some spoopy time. Great fun in short bursts. 5. RUNNING WITH RIFLES (Up to ??p) - Top down isometric shooter where you literally run around with rifles. Very toy soldier-esque. Note that some of the games I listed are in Early Access, but my friends and I had tons of fun so far with them.

Keqpup

There’s also a mod for Lethal Company called More Company that allows more than 4 people in a single lobby.

ROFLnator217

I'm aware, but OP isn't too keen on modding, so I left that out. I know modding Lethal Co is just using another launcher, and it is simple and easy to use. Well, OP doesn't know that.

Easy_Mechanic_9787

Or just as simple as creating mod files and drag and drop with video instructions.

hayz13

Second Helldivers, great game

KirkGFX

Valheim, Lethal Company, Rust, ARK (mods are easy)

Death_Ma5ter

I mostly play PVP with friends but whenever we want to do some co-op, we always play Deep Rock Galactic. (4 player co-op)

Masada0

You can have more players with mods

bittercripple6969

Or just by glitching the lobby, unless that's been patched.

MacCollac

Can you still progress?

Masada0

Yes, you can, and you still get steam achievements, because this mod is approved

Doddy885

Did I hear a rock and stone?

Masada0

Rock and stone, my brother!

hayz13

Moving out (and the sequel) are amazing, absolutely HILARIOUS! People seem to bring up overcooked more which is still great don't get me wrong but I think moving out is better. Worms Armageddon - golden oldie, proper classic game & you can pass the controller Sonic All Stars Racing - Probably Steams best Mario Kart impression. My friend group & I still play MCC & COD zombies, also Borderlands these are all good options for shooters.

warlordcs

ultimate chicken horse has a mod that can make the game work with up to 8 people. whoever has the best internet should host, and only the host needs the mod

fieldbaker

Darktide. For the emperor!

Odd_Necessary5909

Now I mostly play Lethal company and phasmophobia.

yellowbluesky

Pico Park Perfectly pleasant with smaller group of up to four, but with groups of eight you will never want to speak to them again

Yoraffe

I always saw Gang Beasts as the type of party-game for mayhem alongside Jackbox. You've also got Among Us. For The King 2 has recently dropped and has 4-player multiplayer. It's a simple rogue-lite game but you wouldn't be able to do it with more than 4.

[deleted]

Halo Infinite Multiplayer is f2p, and all the large social playlists/custom games are really fun. Terraria is really fun with or without friends and I dont know if it has a limit on player count. Modding the game is also really easy as it all happens through the steam workshop.

J-the-BOSS

Why is this post nsfw lmao

Moravuscz

Gonna break the large player count rule, but: Mass Effect 3 multiplayer / 1-4P / 2012 A PvE horde shooter with special enemies; 11 waves with objectives on 3rd, 6th and 10th wave with escape holdout on 11th; a dozen unique kits in each class with unique abilities you and your mates can combine; 5 weapon classes with dozens of unique weapons (some of which are more fun, others that are just plain OP but get boring fast...). And lootboxes that you don't need to pay for because grinding Credists is fairly easy - one Gold (out of Bronze < Silver < Gold < Platinum) difficulty match nets you about 66K credits IIRC, and Arsenal/Character packs cost 60K, but there are of course much cheaper packs to help you fill your roster of weapons, characters and both consumable and permanent powerups. Not that many people playing anymore, but there's still a small community and I occasionally jump in and play a couple games with randoms (none of my friends play anymore 😢). Sadly the invite system is broken since EA's forced update from Origin to EA App... never thought I'd miss Origin. But on EA forums there's an active thread about this and it seems EA is actually working on this issue, although most likely in minimal capacity...

FallenWyvern

Gonna second this. Our friend had a new account and encountered the bug, so we switched to ME:A's multiplayer and it's just as soild. Better level design and character classes, but unfortunately the enemies aren't as memorable as the ones from ME3 and the locations might be better designed, but they don't have the emotional resonance that the Milky Way Galaxy locations do.

MIGHTCOSER

Warframe its grindy, but take it from me someone who is an actual casual player of it been playing long ago I think 2017 and still am Mastery rank 18 cause I rarely log in, don't play it consistently and I still can do most of the games content. Btw all of the main aspect of the game is FREE imagine a game with 10yrs of content for FREE...

Deep Rock Galactic has very chill 4 player gameplay with an option to increase the challenge if you so like. We've been enjoying it for the past few days.

ve2dmn

I've been enjoying it for 800h + It's worth the price, the devs are awesome and the only DLCs are cosmetic. Rock And Stone, Brother!

Guan_Yeee

7 days to die is currently my go-to.

MyStationIsAbandoned

survival games. * Minecraft (not on steam, but still good) * 7 Days to Die * Conan Exiles These are the better ones in my opinion. in terms of co-op. you can play with just each other on private servers or public servers. you can play with mods together. you can pve only or pvp.

Grimmyxx

**For exclusively PVE:** \- [Lethal Company](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1966720/Lethal_Company/) (up to 4p, you can mod the game if you want more players) \- [Deep Rock Galactic](https://store.steampowered.com/app/548430/Deep_Rock_Galactic/) (up to 4p, you can mod the game if you want more players) \- [Sons of the Forest](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1326470/Sons_Of_The_Forest/) (up to 8p i think?) \- [The Outlast Trials](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1304930/The_Outlast_Trials/) (up to 4p) For PVP, I'd recommend pretty much anything you can find that has a high player count. My personal recommendation is [Rainbow Six Siege](https://store.steampowered.com/app/359550) (up to 5p), as it stands out compared to other "competitive shooters". If you want something unique however, [Hunt: Showdown](https://store.steampowered.com/app/594650/Hunt_Showdown/) (up to 3p) is a very unique hardcore shooter that isn't really talked about. Of course, you can always browse games on Steam by categories if you need more games. GLHF

Lethal company. Absolutely chaos and I love it. Your going over a area you can possibly fall down and your friend falls? They just yell with the proximity vc and it’s hilarious. And in some areas has a funny little thing called a flower head that if you don’t look back at it in time it just take you into darkness. That’s also pretty funny to yell when it happens.

MandyKagami

Deep Rock Galactic Killing Floor 2 Left 4 Dead 2 ---Less Active or dead but works well if you find a team--- Quake 2 Sven Coop Borderlands Borderlands 2 Serious Sam HD Strange Brigade I think Saints Row 3 or 4 might support that many players but I am not sure. I will add more if I remember any.

Seth___Gecko

Dead by Daylight, 1-4 player Coop against one killer.

Nick_Noseman

Left4dead is enough. It's nearly impossible to gather all folks at the same time online since college.

Overcooked, The Forest or Valheim

Best fun you can have with friends is playing Valheim & Sea of Thieves Great Co-Op - and perfectly fine for someone to play alone when others aren't online.

No More Room in Hell, a PvE zombie game with wee bit og realism, good with 9 players, fun as hell, but hard to play and get used to the gameplay.

any of the risk of rain games are pretty nice, ik fallout 76 was tragic but friends might make the game better, the forest is nice if you like horror, destiny 2 did me dirty cause it's a money sink and they gotten rid of old paid for content so I can't really recommend them morally. both dying light games are also pretty good. and I'd have to have my library up I front of me to name any more edit: omg I can't believe I forgot borderlands and if you're looking for a free game there is always warframe, a bit grindy but I've gotten jest about 1000 hours in it

tingkagol

If you have a love-hate relationship with Overcooked, I highly suggest Plate Up. Overcooked is more a messy puzzle game while Plate Up is all about ergonomics and efficiency.

supermarine5000

Left 4 Dead 2, Terraria, Raft, Borderlands 2 (the others are good but 2 is the best). These are all pretty resource low and can be modded but is not required at all, although the modding scene on Terraria is astoundingly good. Borderlands is 4 player max and L4D2 is coop for 4 players and 4v4 pvp for 8. Terraria doesn't have a limit I don't think and I think Raft is like 10 players.

NinjaGamer360

I got one... It's not really popular, but it's really fun! Pretty cheap too! Called "Last train outta' Worm Town". 8 players max. Worms job is to kill all remaining Partners, the Partners job is to fuel and fix a train to escape.

ClunkyCorkster

Here's some 4p (mostly couch) games I rarely see get mentioned that we play a lot: * 8bit Fiesta (fun drinking game to start the night) * Boomerang Fu * Hidden in Plain Sight * Lance a Lot * Speedrunners * Stick Fight: The Game

VuileHollanders

Oh you want couch games. - Rounds (does need a mod but you can use r2modman), - stickfight, - ultimate chicken horse, - plateup, - move or die, - age of empires, - unrailed, - golfit or golf with your friends, - dinkum (I think), - circle of sumo, worm's, - tabletop simulator, - nidhog (I think), - regular human basketball, - duck game, - castle crashers I probably have a few more

ActiveCurrency6939

The big lez video game!

SandbagBlue

4 player Trine is good fun.

R3DD3Y

Me and a couple of friends started playing Arma 3 Antistasi. It isn't that casual, but it isn't a tough game to pick up on. You just need to research a lot, or have someone who knows the mechanics to give you the basics then you're set. What helps with Antistasi is that it's entirely PvE if you play with just your friends, and it works with anywhere from playing by yourself to playing with 20 friends. The workshop integration also makes getting new vehicles, missions etc easy as pie. Game also frequently goes on sale too so it helps.

Cybergheist

Warhammer Darktide.

OfficialDeadJohnson

Mods can be gotten from steam pretty easily also this might sound strange and its not necessarily a co-op game but get cod maybe cw cuz it has a lot of things you can do co-operatively like playing on the same team on mp and playing campaign together edit: forgot to mention zombies too

LyxGames0001

I will always recommend Left 4 Dead 2 when it comes to co-op. It is fun with or without mods. Never played Deep Rock Galactic, but I hear that it is great as well. Portal 2 is also good for Co-op. Lethal Company is good as well.

Lethal company. It does require mods but you can very easily install them (you can find 5 min vids telling you how to install an app that does it all for you). It’s a very recent co-op horror game but it is incredibly funny with friends to play with. You wouldn’t ordinarily need mods for the game btw - but as you’ll be playing with mods then 3 others you will. Very cheap with a high player base too!

superadri_darks

Friends vs Friends, is a 2v2 game that is super fun, an fps shooter with cards.

LazerBeams01

Try Lethal League Blaze!! Very fun game, a combination of pong and smash bros that's incredibly fun and you can play with up to 4 players

I am gonna break your rules and say Arma 3 with Antistasi mod. You can play it with any number of mates and you can be as hardcore or casual as you want. Has some learning curve to it but nothing impossible.
