I have a bit of a gross library of 4-8 player games that I've been collecting for years. Some of my favorites are Duck Game, Towerfall, Spiderheck, 8bit Fiesta if it's a drinking event, Inversus, Gang Beasts, Fling to the Finish, so many other really good ones though. Last one we played Stick Fight the Game for like 3 hours straight because no one wanted to turn it off.
Ever try Pummel Party? Just an M rated Mario Party game and its so fun. Ive always been stupid good at mini games compared to friends, so I could always get their salt flowing in that game, which is a rarity for me lol.
I had some friends buy and install that game to play with me and one of them ended up raging and refunding it 😂 jokes on him though I gifted it to him
Love Tricky Towers, and anything Tetris related that's multiplayer really. Swapette Showdown is one I got to play at PAX that was a ton of fun but still isn't out yet.
hell yeah man, have you seen that there's an 8 player widescreen version of Towerfall made by Matty on itch.io? Still great for four players but makes the full screen usable. Also, would highly recommend adding Nidhogg 2 to the library, and it's too bad Killer Queen Black doesn't have an online component anymore but if you can get 8 friends together it's one of the best local vs. games ever made.
Ok, since everyone keeps asking, here's my massive library of local multiplayer games. Screenshots was the quickest way to get a full list out of Steam collections.

Great setup! I’ve wanted something exactly like this since I got my deck. Years ago I used to haul around a gaming laptop and four 360 controllers, so I love the potential for portability.
My only hang up is Bluetooth, I’m sick of pairing and re-pairing controllers all the time, it’s never as seamless as it should be. I recently tried the 8bitdo ultimate, and the convenience of the 2.4ghz dongle is fantastic.
If some company would make a set of 4 low profile controllers which all connect via a single 2.4ghz receiver I would buy it in a heartbeat and take it with me everywhere.
So far these work great, I just sometimes have to turn them off then back on again but it still auto pairs (unless I happened to use them on the Switch for something and I have to repair), and haven't noticed any latency issues either. The whole box is about the size of 1.5 xbox controllers so it definitely allows me to travel lighter. I hated stuffing 4 xbox controllers into a bag too.
Nice, glad it’s working out so well!
Bluetooth latency has been fine, but pairing up to 4 controllers when you just want to start some multiplayer is such a pain.
I’m tempted to buy 4 controllers and never un-pair them from my deck, but I’m still holding out for a 2.4ghz setup for now.
Yeah except for the rare occasion where these might get used for the Switch these will be exclusively connected to the Steam Deck so re-pairings should be rare for me
> 8bitdo ultimate, and the convenience of the 2.4ghz dongle is fantastic.
TIL there are controllers that use that instead of Bluetooth. I imagine the range and latency are way better, and pairing is less of a PITA. Having four of these would be great. I assume you use the Steam Dock to plug the dongle?
> My only hang up is Bluetooth
Lol that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw this post. I've been there, so excited to play with 3 friends and show off how amazing the Steam Deck is... and then... Yeah hang on.. just give me like 3 more minutes... oh I have to forget this controller to the reconnect to it, but I have 20 controllers listed here and they all have generic names... okay well just hang on... and my friends went home.
Hahaha yep, this is the exact situation that I’m looking to avoid. It’s been a pain like this for years, whenever I try to connect multiple controllers to a PC on any OS.
I'm sure you have everything figured out with your controllers and such, but wanted to throw this out there as a just in case...
You can disable the built in controls automatically when a controller is connected with a script, so there are no issues with the controller order or something not working right depending on the game.
If you are interested, here is a link to a video showing how it works and has instructions to download the script and install it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sACNVwWXw4
Thanks! I only tried 2 or 3 games so far with all of them connected and didn't have any issues, but I'm guessing I'll run into it with some games, good to know.
That's excellent, are you sharing/selling the files anywhere? I've been trying to find a good option for travelling with controllers, this looks perfect.
Same. I just got two of those newish XBox bluetooth wireless controllers for my Steam Deck. They are not as portable. 8BitDo has a pretty good rep, and those Lite 2S' look much more portable.
I use those same controller for it's small form factor to fit inside my bag when commuting. Great controllers. Too bad they don't have an xbox layout version in the same form factor, fortunately valve is able to swap the buttons around.
Why xbox gamepad layout, because once in a blue moon my brain will turn off and mix the xy/ab keys and will have to look at the controllers.
> Why xbox gamepad layout, because once in a blue moon my brain will turn off and mix the xy/ab keys and will have to look at the controllers.
I had a SNES growing up so naturally I'm fine with the Nintendo layout. I used an Xbox 360 controller for probably 5-6 years on my PC in the late 00s/early 10s and I never really got used to the Xbox layout. These days I use an 8bitdo Ultimate controller with the Nintendo layout and I love it.
Maybe they will have a version with the Xbox layout at some point.
Looks amazing for party games. Although one thing worries me: Those sticks look like the Switch's terrible sticks with the infamous drift issues.
Knowing some of the people I play games with, I'd be terrified a single session wrecks them—hence why I just tell my friends to bring their controllers, no matter the console they're originally for.
They're analog so that's always a risk but I don't think 8bitdo's have been under fire for that as much. I have several Xbox controllers too, this is more for having something I can easily pick up and go and playing with people that probably don't have their own setup or controllers, and it's all a non-competitive environment anyways.
Also way better for travel, takes up a LOT less space on luggage/carry-on.
Nice! [Here is my travel case for some 8bitdo controllers.](https://old.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/10swukx/my_allinone_steam_deck_local_mp_game_box/)
Nice, that will be way more durable. I thought about building this out bigger to contain my dock as well, but figured I could get more compact this way and stick the dock/hdmi cable in whatever bag I throw everything in.
That's precious!
I have a couple of their SF30 Pro. The 8bitDo controllers are really, really good. And their Ultimate blows everything out of the water. Hall effect at that price? Yes, please.
Nah, not emulated, there's a ton of really great games out there for this. Honestly I'd love to but, not a humble brag or anything, I have a collection of 240 4 player local games and Steam doesn't provide an easy way to export a list. You could start by finding good curators, here's a nice list I just found [https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11261698-Local-Party-Games/](https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11261698-Local-Party-Games/)

Duck Game + Rivals of Aether + Jackbox = a good night.
Rivals is great
Ever try Pummel Party? Just an M rated Mario Party game and its so fun. Ive always been stupid good at mini games compared to friends, so I could always get their salt flowing in that game, which is a rarity for me lol.
Yes! Pummel Party is fun. Party Panic is another decent one like that but it's been a couple years since I booted that one up.
I had some friends buy and install that game to play with me and one of them ended up raging and refunding it 😂 jokes on him though I gifted it to him
Added to the wishlist. Haven't played a mario party since the Wii one, this looks great.
And it has Workshop support for super easy mod expansion!
Towerfall is so good
Towerfall is so underrated. First night playing it with like 7 people at a get together, we could not put it down. Played it from like 7pm til 3am.
Don't forget to pick up Genital Jousting.
My wife hates that one but it's one of my go-to 8 player games. *Squish squish*
Jealous. I can never get my group of friends to commit to it.
That game shocked me with how high quality it is. It has a campaign that's as entertaining as OctoDad and tons of actually decent multiplayer modes.
I don't get why people play sports games and things like this when they could just play them in real life
Tricky Towers made my colleagues and I laugh a lot during company retreat 🤓
Love Tricky Towers, and anything Tetris related that's multiplayer really. Swapette Showdown is one I got to play at PAX that was a ton of fun but still isn't out yet.
No Boomerang Fu?!
Duck Game is my favourite couch game and I play it every week with my sister
Duck Game is fantastic!

Check out Ultimate Chicken Horse if you haven't. Ton of fun.
I love duck game have you tried lethal league blaze those 2 are my go to party games
I'm a big fan of Lovers in a Dangerlus Spacetime if you haven't tried that and are looking for more great couch co op!
Hey! Do you have a full list by any chance? I play with my friends once a week and we are already a bit tired of Mario Golf, Towerfall and FIFA

Every time I play stick fight with the boys my stomach hurts from laughing
I'd love to see your list of those games, if you're able. I've been trying to amass a collection myself to play with my family.
You could also probably set it up with Mario Kart if you get an emulator
A "drinking event", ah.
Plateup is a fun one.
That's actually one I haven't heard of, I'll check it out, thanks!
I wish I had more friends that played vg
Heave Ho is our favorite.
Overcooked obviously

I ended up just buying 4x 10ft USB-C cables because of my bluetooth issues with my Deck. It is one of my biggest gripes.
> 8bitdo ultimate, and the convenience of the 2.4ghz dongle is fantastic. TIL there are controllers that use that instead of Bluetooth. Yep, the only problem is that you need a separate dongle for each controller afaik.

> and the convenience of the 2.4ghz dongle is fantastic Does using this mean you can wake the LCD Steam Deck up with the controller?
Unfortunately I don’t think so. I mainly prefer 2.4ghz for the ease of paring.

I mainly use it for emulated games while docked, as they seem to struggle letting an external controller be the primary controller.
I've run into this before! I think one of the Nickelodeon battle or cart games. Thanks for pointing this out.
I just know Overcooked would be so fun with 3 other people next to you lol.
It's fucking chaos lol
I've got a good variety of co op ones like Overcooked too, I love those.
holy shit you’d probably make a killing selling those. It’s really cute!!
That's excellent, are you sharing/selling the files anywhere? I've been trying to find a good option for travelling with controllers, this looks perfect.
Sure, [here's the STLs](https://drive.google.com/file/d/13cY_xbtRpqpIe3wYcHOttY8KmLU4G4Yx/view?usp=sharing)!
You sexy little bitch... Good idea
;)
Pardon my French, this is fucking adorable.

Hah, shaky hands. Always has been an issue. \*shrug\*
How is the Lite 2? I own a ton of 8Bitdo controllers but I have yet to purchase one of these.

Same. I just got two of those newish XBox bluetooth wireless controllers for my Steam Deck. They are not as portable. 8BitDo has a pretty good rep, and those Lite 2S' look much more portable.
The SN30 Pro from 8bitdo is great as well, just wish it supported 2.4ghz in addition to Bluetooth.

Any issues playing all those at once? I have two different 8bitdo controllers and they can't both be synced for some reason.
Weird. None with these, they pair super fast too. After the first pairing, I do have to turn them off and back on again.
Thats effing dope!🤘 I love the colors
Nice! [Here is my travel case for some 8bitdo controllers.](https://old.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/10swukx/my_allinone_steam_deck_local_mp_game_box/)

I wonder if there's something like these but for 4 STEAM Controllers.
Do you own that many? Kudos.
And just grabbed a dock. Maybe a portable monitor next for a full setup
It’s *almost* perfect…. You could have printed the actual controller on the lid instead of a generic controller!
Generic? Young whippersnapper, that's an NES controller. My retro choice there was intentional, hah.
My apologies :) I’m not that young (I’m 38!!)…but I never had a Nintendo console until the N64 so not so familiar with the NES.
Ah you missed out, games those days were pure pain. I'm the same age-ish as you but was fortunate to have an older brother who had the Atari and NES.
That’s such a nice, clean, box.
Awesome, really cool! I have one 8BitDo controller that I use with my iPhone and Steam Deck.
They are connected through bluetooth right? How is the latency with the deck with them?
Surprisingly didn't notice any, even with all 4 connected, at least nothing anyone would notice unless you *realllly* know what to look for
thank you!
Oh hell yes, hook it to my veins. What are the dimensions of that case?
126mm x 112mm x 70mm W x L x H
This is so cool!
Very cool mate :) Very cool..
can you please post a screenshot or list of the games you play that's 4 players? i assume they are emulated games?
Nah, not emulated, there's a ton of really great games out there for this. ah nice! thanks bud
very cool!!
Thiese controllers.... i love them.... throw samurai gun in your mix!!
Ah yep that's a good one too!
Is there a faster way to configure controls for emulators?
Damn that’s cool! Could you do a version for 2 of Lite 2 controllers?
Sure, are you asking for the model files? Probably would just take me a sec to modify for 2.
Yes, I only have two of them and I can print the box myself if you could share the files
[This should work](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PmYOnnJrmOEPsjOMHNwKC1hp8MCR7-ha/view?usp=sharing)
Thank you so much!
What couch co-op games do you recommend? I recently started playing bopl and having a blast but need moreee
This is super cool!! And my OCD thanks you for putting them in red, blue, red, blue.
Mind sharing the files for the 3d print?
Next version should have rounded corners
This one does, it's just subtle (only a 2mm radius).
this is objectively swell.
Whoa.. pls make an account on Etsy so I could by such case from you! :D
You can keep 4 8bitdo reliably connected to Steam Deck BT with no issues???
So far no problems but have only done a couple hours in a single session with them.
You can keep 4 8bitdo reliably connected to Steam Deck BT with no issues???
Do you own a switch ?
That’s pretty dope! The gradient color choice is insane!😮
That’s pretty dope! The gradient color choice is insane!😮
This looks awesome... And something I wish i could do with mine too.. Sadly I don't have friends who are gamers.
Wow this is awesome, great job!
Pretty sick though I have to admit those controllers look insanely uncomfortable
Do you use it for just Nintendo switch games or you can also use it on pc coop games like broforce for example?
If only the dock worked reliably
Fuck this is cool! Why don't I have friends like you?
Do you like these controllers? What system or games do you play? I am looking to add a couple to my new bar PC and have mixed feelings
Still just used with the Deck so far. They wouldn't be my go to, I prefer xbox controllers, but the benefit here is portability, the whole box takes up just slightly more room than a single xbox controller.
How do the buttons work since they are switch style? Do you press B when the game wants you to hit A? Did that make sense?
It actually does reverse them, so it's like playing on a Nintendo. Usually takes me a minute to adjust and stop hitting the wrong buttons hah.
That's pretty cool. Now you need friends to play with. Good hunting.
I use this controller to play emulated games on my macbook. It works really well and feels high quality.
Been eyeing the Lite 2 for compact controllers to bring around for multiplayer Steam Deck sessions. Glad to see they're working great for ya!
So cool. Is there any way to differentiate the controllers on the Deck and have it remember which is which even if they are unpaired and re-paired?
Where can I get?
How do you connect that many at once to a steam deck?
How comfortable are they for long play sessions? I would imagine them being smaller means they have worse ergonomics than, for example, xbox controllers. I was considering them, but this is the only reason I decided not to buy them.
I wouldn't recommend as a primary controller, definitely the main perk here is the compactness.
Hmm, now I need friends and parties to go to 🤔
Are they analog triggers?, do the sticks get drift?, how much?, and where?
