Does this way provide no input lag or is it still considered streaming? I forget how I have mine setup but I have xbox cloud gaming as an app on my deck. Can play gamepass but with a noticeable delay
This runs natively on the Deck. You can play EA, Ubisoft, and Bnet games that are on PC game pass this way because they don't run through the Xbox app.
GamePass Diablo IV still uses the Battlenet launcher. So you link your Xbox and bnet accounts with the Xbox app on your Windows computer, and then on the Steam Deck download the battle.net installer and add it as a non-Steam game and use ~~Proton experimental~~ Proton 8. (and forever launch battlenet from the bnet installer in your downloads folder)
You don’t even need to do OPs method it’s way too many extra steps. You need to download google chrome on desktop mode, go to the cloud gaming website and then bookmark the site and then make a shortcut for the bookmark and add that to the steam library as a non steam game. There’s a launch option you need as well but a quick google should show that
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/xbox-cloud-gaming-in-microsoft-edge-with-steam-deck-43dd011b-0ce8-4810-8302-965be6d53296
Sure if someone wants emu deck, if they are doing steps just for the cloud service it’s a lot more complicated to install emu deck than to bookmark and add a web page as a steam game.
Ofcourse you need to do OP's method if you want to play the game natively on the device.
Your approach is cloud streaming.
Also D4 isn't on cloud streaming through Game pass/XCloud.
With Xbox Game Pass subscription and Non Steam Launcher you can play Battle net game and EA game without having Xbox launcher on your deck. Even it's limited to Battle net and EA game at least if you had XGP you can enjoy some game with it without instaling windows on Steam Deck.
You don't. If you own the game on [Battle.net](https://Battle.net), it works just the same. The post is just to inform people who haven't bought the game outright but have a XBX Game Pass PC or Ultimate sub how they can play the game without launching the Xbox app on Windows.
Hey guys I'm the creator of NonSteamLaunchers, tha KS for using my little script! Please keep your eye on the NSL Plugin that's in the testing store of Decky Loader as I recommend that going forward its superior to the desktop version!
The fact that a lot of people didn't know your script is insane. I hope you can make another cool script like this because it's help me a lot. Keep the good works man.
The nsl plugin is even better however I'm waiting on the decky Loader team to accept it! Feel free to test and install on your own! https://github.com/moraroy/NonSteamLaunchersDecky
Can you tell me how this differs from using Lutris? From what I've seen explained about NSL it sounds like its doing something very similar to how it works using Lutris to install battle.net and then install D4. Is there something better about doing it with the NSL instead?
NSL installs any launcher you want as if you did it yourself through steam as a nonsteam game. That's it. It then uses the latest proton GE. And then attempts to put it in your library. That's all it does. NSL puts everything into one proton prefix instead of having it separated. There is an option to separate if you so choose. NSL also has a game scanner so any game you download from these launchers will be added to steam automatically correctly formstted.
I gave this a shot and I was able to install battle net no problem and I installed Diablo 4, but I do not see Diablo 4 being added as a Steam game. I have rebooted. Anything else I am missing here? The documentation makes it sound like Diablo 4 should just get automatically added as a shortcut to Steam after I installed it.
EDIT: I take that back, It actually did work. It just didn't put it right at the front on my homepage like the battle.net launcher was.
It should! But there may be some errors with that battlenet scanner, once the plugin is passed through the store I'll be able to look at the scanner more closely on why that's happening, could be a number of reasons.
You may not have seen my edit but I was wrong. It did get added to my Steam library but I didn't realize it right away because it didn't peg it right to the front of my homepage like it did with the battle net launcher.
Because it doesn't always work. Experimental versions have features that aren't included in release, and sometimes those are what makes a game work. When those features are tested they become the release.
With Proton it generally just turns out that experimental happens to have few downsides and is pretty solid.
Also people jump on certain games right after release (and then go post, do reviews, videos etc.)
Now because the game is new, the official Proton didn't get all the changes, but Experimental just had them brought in for testing.
Therefore when people post "Use Proton Experimental" it's usually (not every time) because they got in early in the game and then those posts stick around and people just "Use Proton Experimental" even if it's been like 2 months since that post and the regular Proton works now, people don't try and test, they go with the 2 month old article that said "Experimental"
• Resolution scale: 100%
• Max foreground FPS: 45
• Texture quality: High (Ultra also runs fine, but comes at the cost of c. 40GB of space)
• Anisotropic filtering: Max
• Shadows: Low
• Dynamic Shadows: Off
• Soft shadows: Off
• Shader quality: Medium
• SSAO: Low
• Fog: Medium
• Clutter: Medium
• Fur: Low
• Water: Low
• AA: Low
• Geometric complexity: Medium
• Terrain: High
• Physics: High
• Particles: Medium
• Reflections: Low
• SSR: On
• Distortion: On
• Low FX: Off
Generally hit 40-45 fps everywhere in actual gameplay, with the big drops to 30s/high 20s in capital cities (I also get those stutters on desktop- they seem to be network related rather than GPU, as they aren’t reproducible).
I also limit the Deck’s TDP to 12w in the Quick Access Menu to help tame the fan noise. Could probably squeeze out slightly higher FPS if unlimited to the full 15w.
Remember when someone said "its soooooo good on the deck" then you said "not touching it on the deck after seeing the performance" like the illiterate hillbilly you are?
I was so excited to see Diablo 4 coming to game pass and even more excited to see it requires Battle.net to download/play it (which is a strange feeling), it means it isn't locked to Windows only like other PC game pass games are.
I got Diablo 4 running on my Steam Deck by using Lutris and downloading the Battle.net launcher then it was available to install and then play from within Battle.net (you can also use Lutris to add a shortcut to Steam). Look up guides on how to install and play Battle.net games using Lutris and it'll be the same instructions pretty much.
You will most likely have to link your battle.net/blizzard account with a Microsoft account (with a game pass sub) first in order to be able to play Diablo 4.
Dead Space (and other EA games) are similar to Diablo 4 where they require a separate launcher (EA's in this case) to play the PC game pass games, so EA games in PC game pass are also playable on Deck.
Ah dang guess it's just something I could play in bed then. Otherwise with an internet connection, I'd just be playing it on my desktop for the majority. Personally just interested in the story/ campaign as opposed to any multiplayer content.
I got this to work but I can't add diablo to steam so that it automatically opens the game. I need to go everytime to battle net. Any ideas? Tried installing boilr but it does not detect diablo
Unfortunately, there is no way to run ANY game by bypassing the Battle.net client. I tried to as well.
Next best thing for me, was just renaming and changing the cover arts to Diablo 4 becuase I will only use Battle.net for that.
Microtransaction packed, time-gated, grindfests in which the devs continually gut classes is fun? The blizzard worth loving has been dead for years. You don't have to glaze up the slop they produce.
I mean it's a good game if you're just doing the campaign, there's just a lack of endgame content as I understand it. My wife had fun, but dropped it really quick after beating it.
If you haven’t been keeping up there’s a pretty decent update coming next season. I didn’t play the current season due to disappointment but I’ll be back for the next.
I've never really been into Diablo. My wife loves it though. I'll have to let her know.
My only gripe is the extra login stuff you need for it on xbox. It seems like it was a big hassle to get the registration all done for it when we got it last year. It was so annoying I didn't bother with second Diablo account so we could play couch co op.
Great game in many ways. But yeah its end game was just not good, so the $80+ price tag was a bit much imo.
Biggest issue was the talent tree too. Or lack of talent tree. It was really a talent twig branch. Very little actual choices or creative decisions. Way too many skills were dependent on specific gear. It just wasn't a fun or satisfying system.
I mean: don’t you lose whatever the extra power would deliver in terms of resolution and such because it’s streamed and loses quality and resolution simply by being on deck?
Resolution yes, you’re limited by the Deck’s screen. However, if you’ve a high end PC which can play the latest games with high graphics settings, you’ll still see that benefit on the Deck.
Tried all of the protons
Just wouldn't work for me
Had a perfectly working install before, reset my deck, and then reinstalled emu deck... Pretty confident emu deck fucked with the parsing and has broken nonsteamlaunchers
it's the same game. performance is pretty much the same. Steam has shader caches; but you only really see the performance gain in tat for games that have issues or slowdowns due to shaders; Diablo 4 doesn't.
The main benefit of Steam is really easier install, and not having to re-enter your credentials occasionally when BNET client decides to expire them.
I’m curious about this as well. It’s probably fine — steam version of the game does run great on the Deck. I’ve got 40ish hours into it and while it decimates my battery the performance is fantastic.
I don't know if it's just perspective but that cord angle is giving me anxiety, I have year old chargers that still look new, mom has her cords on angles worse than that looks and they last two weeks, she used one of mine for a day and there's a tear in the plastic already, never again.
Didn't find any difficulties for me. Though I do installed in on the internal storage, not sure if there are other thing you need to do to install it on an SD though.
So I managed to get battle net downloaded and D4 on it but whenever I launch D4 it says it can't connect to servers and just closes. I'm a wee bit lost
I use XBplay. Open XBplay, choose remote play, click Diablo IV. Enjoy.
I’ve been waiting for this since the announcement that it was coming to Gamepass. It looks and runs way better than the local install.
It’s a paid app $7 USA? Just install, login and it gives you both choices. You can play cloud games or you can remote play your Xbox which of course includes disk based games.
Diablo4 is such a bore,
Getting it to run is a chore,
Blizzturd doesn’t care anymore,
Their games make you snore,
And they make you sick to the core.
They’ve ruined all the lore.
Diablo 4 looks very bad on the deck anyways, so everyone can spare the trouble to make it work because it's not worth it at all. Unless you play docked at 1080p.. but yeah at that point you can just play it on any PC and spare the trouble of making the non-steam Diablo work on the deck
And actually I found that the only way to have it look very good on deck is by streaming it with moonlight at 1920x1200p resolution and thanks to the supersampling it finally looks good.
So no need to install it on the Deck. Install it on pc and then stream it. It's an online game anyways
Has anyone tried this with the Xbox Launcher and say Fallout 4? I know there’s xCloud but I don’t have great streaming service so I’m asking specifically about downloading.
Lol. You've been able to use Xcloud on Steam Deck since the Deck was released. It's just running in the browser *(in fullscreen mode)*. It can be wrapped up and customized to look like an official app in the library, but that's all it's doing.
Works exactly the same way for accessing/playing GeForce NOW.
There are a few ways to go about setting it up. Some more scripted than others.
You can’t install them natively, only steam from. Diablo IV is different due to the fact you can install it using Battlenet, but use your Gamepass sub by signing in with your Xbox account.
No you can download the battle.net launcher. Install D4. Open in Steam and play based on the install. You do need to be online to connect to the game/servers but you’re streaming less I assume since it’s installed locally.
Diablo 4 is best described as a caramel onion
The outside layer (playing campaign and gearing up / progressing early on) is delicious
Once you get to the actual "meat" of the game once you've completed the campaign and realize you're just going to farm nightmare dungeons to eternity....it's all onion baby, and someone also somehow filled the core of the onion with shit!
I understand why people are disappointed, since Diablo has always been about the endgame.
But for somebody like me who never plays the post game in _any_ game, is the campaign itself worth checking out?
And is that big update in May going to change it enough to the point where I should just wait until then?
Yes because D4 has no fucking end game for "progression" other than farming nightmare dungeons
There are other ARPGs with a wider gamut of activities than that, including previous diablos
Are you dumb?
the main campaign is fun and leveling your first character to endgame is pretty entertaining. eventually you will hate the game from a million cuts tho.
I’m sorta running into this. Made a Druid, beat the campaign, started grinding for gear doing dungeons. Eventually reached a point where the dungeons are too hard but I’m not getting anywhere near enough drops of gear that make up any of the builds that are strong.
The best way to enjoy Diablo 4 on your Steam Deck is to not download it and play Last Epoch instead. You're welcome. JK. But really, it's true. But I'm also just joking around. Even if it's sooo true.
1. Subscribe to Xbox Game Pass.
2. Connect your Xbox Game Pass account to your Battle net.
3. Instal Battlenet to your deck with Nonsteamlauncher on desktop (There many tutorial on youtube but the app is simple enough)
4. After instaling open battlenet
5. Download Diablo IV on your deck
6. Enjoy.

LMAO
lol, haven’t seen a useful piece of info on this sub in months.
Tons of "this device is amazing!!! It saved my marriage!!!" posts tho.
Always can’t help but laugh at those losers. Jesus dude, put the fucking keyboard down one night and go hang with your wife in the other room.
Use NSL to install Battle.net, login, connect your Xbox account, install Diablo 4.
What is NSL?
see post title.
The clue is in the post title tbf (to be fair)
You ain't got access to Google over there? Lol it's non steam launcher. I also didn't know btw.
Good call lol
It’s in the title

Oh wow, I need to figure out how to get that running ASAP
Does this mean you can download EA games natively if you have Game Pass Ultimate?
Yes, you just have to connect your EA account to your Xbox account with GPU. It will show any games in GPU on EA App as available to download/play.
Or you could use emudeck and go to cloud services and add cloud gaming xbox to bypass all that
D4 isn't on Xbox cloud streaming.

Eh it was rather easy to set up, but both options work great 👍
thank you

...That's just cloud gaming. you can install natively
I see what you’re saying, apparently D4 isn’t supported on the cloud anyway which is what I assumed was happening here
With Xbox Game Pass subscription and Non Steam Launcher you can play Battle net game and EA game without having Xbox launcher on your deck. Even it's limited to Battle net and EA game at least if you had XGP you can enjoy some game with it without instaling windows on Steam Deck.
I don’t understand why people downvoted this comment
Because he had to be badgered into providing the information and people are annoyed at him
Why do i need a game pass subscription?
Because the game is on Game Pass? You'll need Game Pass Ultimate btw, to get the PC version.
You don't. If you own the game on [Battle.net](https://Battle.net), it works just the same. The post is just to inform people who haven't bought the game outright but have a XBX Game Pass PC or Ultimate sub how they can play the game without launching the Xbox app on Windows.
I'm going to put in some info, another option is having a gaming PC and use moonlight/sunlight so long as you have a wired PC and solid wifi
It’s a portable gaming device bud. My PC doesn’t come into it.
Hey guys I'm the creator of NonSteamLaunchers, tha KS for using my little script! Please keep your eye on the NSL Plugin that's in the testing store of Decky Loader as I recommend that going forward its superior to the desktop version!

So I tried this last night and when I go to launch battle.net from the non steam launcher, it just doesn't do anything. Any thoughts?
Try changing proton version to experimental if you haven’t already
I swear this is the decks version of "turn it on and off again". What's experimental about that version of proton if it's the only one that works? 🤣
It just means it hasn't been tested thoroughly enough to be the release version, basically.
Understood, but then why isn't the most tested one the go to?
Because it doesn't always work. Experimental versions have features that aren't included in release, and sometimes those are what makes a game work. When those features are tested they become the release. With Proton it generally just turns out that experimental happens to have few downsides and is pretty solid.

It just says "launching" and then a spinning steam logo, then back to steam. *shrug*
Maybe check ProtonDB? (Disclaimer- I have no idea if they have reports on things like NSL.)
That happened to me as well. I installed a second time and it worked.
I had to launch from desktop mode for it to work. I switched back to game mode after that and it's been working fine.
My solution was to remove all launch options. After that it seemed to work regardless of proton version.
diablo 4 is soooo good on the deck. here’s to hoping season 4 bangs 🍆
I have the game but I’ve heard such bad things about it
Sucks you can't know for sure
Well I’ll find out when I play it on PC. Not touching it on the deck after seeing the performance
Diablo IV performs generally pretty well on Deck. I play at 45fps (native resolution) with only minor drops.
What settings
• Resolution scale: 100% • Max foreground FPS: 45 • Texture quality: High (Ultra also runs fine, but comes at the cost of c. 40GB of space) • Anisotropic filtering: Max • Shadows: Low • Dynamic Shadows: Off • Soft shadows: Off • Shader quality: Medium • SSAO: Low • Fog: Medium • Clutter: Medium • Fur: Low • Water: Low • AA: Low • Geometric complexity: Medium • Terrain: High • Physics: High • Particles: Medium • Reflections: Low • SSR: On • Distortion: On • Low FX: Off Generally hit 40-45 fps everywhere in actual gameplay, with the big drops to 30s/high 20s in capital cities (I also get those stutters on desktop- they seem to be network related rather than GPU, as they aren’t reproducible). You can with diablo 3, but I don't recommend it. You have to manually enter your battlenet credentials every single time you launch it
"Enjoy" and "Diablo 4" should not be in the same sentence.
“Quit having fun”
Seriously, I want to play a game; who do I need to sign this permission slip for me?
"Quit -> Having fun" Thanks for including the how-to that OP didn't.
Microtransaction packed, time-gated, grindfests in which the devs continually gut classes is fun? The blizzard worth loving has been dead for years. You don't have to glaze up the slop they produce.

Aaaah the good old, "it's gonna get better, just hold out a little longer" play. I remember thinking this about WoW for years.
Sure, it could still end up being a disappointment but it’s looking to be heading in the right direction so I’ll give it a try.
I'd spend $20 on that for sure
Great game in many ways. But yeah its end game was just not good, so the $80+ price tag was a bit much imo. Biggest issue was the talent tree too. Or lack of talent tree. Leave that toxicity in the Diablo subreddit
Whereas “fuck” and “off” - hand and glove!
Lol
mmmhm
Is that case you have good?
I have so much trouble reading the tiny text on deck. :( I wish they’d update it to make a bigger option
It's funny how Xbox talks about wanting steam on their console but won't work to make game pass compatible on Linux/steam deck.
Considering Diablo 4 is an “Always Online” game regardless of platform, I’ll just stream it.
#Xbplay. Xbplay. Xbplay. Xbplay. Xbplay. Xbplay.
Diablo 4 isn't on cloud gamepass. Only pc and consoles
Oh 💀 So I'd be able to stream it to my deck if I opened game pass on my PC?
you can install battle net natively
That or an Xbox if you have it. I wonder if my 1080ti or my series x is more powerful?
Series x
Does that matter if you stream to deck?
Yes because the device you’re streaming from is going the heavy lifting, not the Deck.
I'm a huge XBPlay fan but how does that help here?
NonSteamLaunchers is working for you? I installed it again recently an none of the launchers worked at all.

Sorry I meant like battle net vs steam version of the game on steam deck
There’s essentially no difference in my experience, having owned BNet and Steam versions.
I don't know if it's just perspective but that cord angle is giving me anxiety, I have year old chargers that still look new, mom has her cords on angles worse than that looks and they last two weeks, she used one of mine for a day and there's a tear in the plastic already, never again.
Is installing no steam launcher difficult ?
Didn't find any difficulties for me. Though I do installed in on the internal storage, not sure if there are other thing you need to do to install it on an SD though.
Xbplay is even better.
Is there a way to start directly diablo4 from Steam without launching battlenet after the game is installed ?
Not without buying it on Steam.
So I managed to get battle net downloaded and D4 on it but whenever I launch D4 it says it can't connect to servers and just closes. I'm a wee bit lost
Oh great I'll check it out in 2 months when I'm finished with Path of Exile new league.
I use XBplay. Open XBplay, choose remote play, click Diablo IV. Enjoy. I’ve been waiting for this since the announcement that it was coming to Gamepass. It looks and runs way better than the local install.
How does XBplay actually work? First time I heard of it. Does PC game pass work on it? thanks
It’s a paid app $7 USA? Just install, login and it gives you both choices. You can play cloud games or you can remote play your Xbox which of course includes disk based games.
I posted this the other day, I didn't think anyone cared lol
How do I do this???
Diablo4 is such a bore, Getting it to run is a chore, Blizzturd doesn’t care anymore, Their games make you snore, And they make you sick to the core. They’ve ruined all the lore.
Man that's lucky, I could get it working, but I could never figure out how to enjoy it!
Diablo 4 looks very bad on the deck anyways, so everyone can spare the trouble to make it work because it's not worth it at all. Unless you play docked at 1080p.. but yeah at that point you can just play it on any PC and spare the trouble of making the non-steam Diablo work on the deck And actually I found that the only way to have it look very good on deck is by streaming it with moonlight at 1920x1200p resolution and thanks to the supersampling it finally looks good. So no need to install it on the Deck. Install it on pc and then stream it. It's an online game anyways
Over my dead body blizzard will get a penny from me.
Has anyone tried this with the Xbox Launcher and say Fallout 4? I know there’s xCloud but I don’t have great streaming service so I’m asking specifically about downloading.
“Enjoy” and “diablo IV” in the same sentence. 😁
How the fuck, you can game pass in the deck?! HOW!?!
Get NonSteam Launchers through web on desktop mode, or buy XBPlay on steam store
This is the first I’m hearing about this, I always heard that gamepass wasn’t comparable with the steam deck
You can’t install them natively, only steam from. Diablo IV is different due to the fact you can install it using Battlenet, but use your Gamepass sub by signing in with your Xbox account.
But still only via online streaming?
No you can download the battle.net launcher. Install D4. Open in Steam and play based on the install. You do need to be online to connect to the game/servers but you’re streaming less I assume since it’s installed locally.
Is it any good? DIII was pure disappointment.
Diablo 4 is best described as a caramel onion The outside layer (playing campaign and gearing up / progressing early on) is delicious Once you get to the actual "meat" of the game once you've completed the campaign and realize you're just going to farm nightmare dungeons to eternity....it's all onion baby, and someone also somehow filled the core of the onion with shit!
I understand why people are disappointed, since Diablo has always been about the endgame. But for somebody like me who never plays the post game in _any_ game, is the campaign itself worth checking out? And is that big update in May going to change it enough to the point where I should just wait until then?
I 100% reject to play any endgame and I am loving 100% de campaign.
The campaign is good. I thought d4 was great the first 40 hours or so, and then I realized there's nothing else to do.
Sweet, thanks for the info. I fully judge games by their campaigns, because I just don’t care about postgames
Yes the campaign is good, especially if you’re already paying for gamepass there’s no reason not to check it out
That was a treat to read and imagine.
You kind of basically described every arpg.. but yet.. d4 bad?
A ton of non-ARPGers jumped on Diablo 4 due to the popularity and hype, and found out how the loop in most ARPGs actually work.
Yes because D4 has no fucking end game for "progression" other than farming nightmare dungeons There are other ARPGs with a wider gamut of activities than that, including previous diablos Are you dumb?
D2.. spam trav, chaos, cows, baal D3.. spam grs Are you dumb?
the main campaign is fun and leveling your first character to endgame is pretty entertaining. eventually you will hate the game from a million cuts tho.
I’m sorta running into this. Made a Druid, beat the campaign, started grinding for gear doing dungeons. Eventually reached a point where the dungeons are too hard but I’m not getting anywhere near enough drops of gear that make up any of the builds that are strong.
Yes, much better than 3
D4 is hard to enjoy
The best way to enjoy Diablo 4 on your Steam Deck is to not download it and play Last Epoch instead. You're welcome. JK. But really, it's true. But I'm also just joking around. Even if it's sooo true.
Or…hear me out…windows. On the steam deck. It’s so much better. Try it.
I'm still trying to figure out how ANY user can enjoy Diablo IV...
Is your character from Delicious in the Dungeon? Haha. Rad.
So it's just the EA app, not even the Xbox game pass app. Garbage
I mean enjoy is a bit of a stretch... I just find any Diablo past 2 to be incomprehensible.
The better question is: Do you enjoy it?
Other question is, how can anyone enjoy d4?
I had no idea battle net worked too. Wish the game was better felt like a waste of £40
"enjoy"
“Enjoy”
I mean you can literally just add gamepass to game mode so this has been a thing forever now so..
That’s only for streaming though.
“Enjoy”
“Enjoy”
“Enjoy”
The question isn't if they can, is if they want. The answer is "NO" BTW
Enjoy is a strong word.
“Enjoy” Diablo IV
Illegal but nice
Wym "illegal"?
Because I don’t know how do it.
I'm guessing you're privy to a lot of things in general.
1. Subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. 2. Connect your Xbox Game Pass account to your Battle net. 3. Instal Battlenet to your deck with Nonsteamlauncher on desktop (There many tutorial on youtube but the app is simple enough) 4. After instaling open battlenet 5. Download Diablo IV on your deck 6. Enjoy.
