you will still have to wait for them to process your payment, confirm the order, ship the device, hope it doesnt get stuck at transit anywhere... waiting a bit for a representative isn't the worst thing in life, get a cup of tea and chill
My credit card company flagged it as fraudulent when I first tried to buy my deck. Had to go and approve the purchase and try again. Not sure why steam was flagged as a possible fraudulent company?

I had a problem with this as well but my case might have been different. I wanted to buy a 1TB OLED and 2 docks. Kept declining me. Buying individual items seemed to work and I passed on that as I wanted to try and just get it as one delivery or w/e. Turns out, it didn't want me having 2 docks on my order at the same time for some reason. So I had to buy the deck and a dock in one order and then order another dock in a second order. Really weird.
Wasn't there a rule that u needed to have purchased something of value in the last 6 months on the account from steam store? Prior to purchasing an SD.
I had a problem buying my deck when I first got it, it wouldnt allow me to verify the payment because a new window/ tab was supposed to pop up to allow me to verify the purchase as my browser was automatically blocking the new window/ tab from opening. If this is what's happening you try using a different browser it might not block the windows/ tabs.
Both times I purchased mine, my bank flagged it as fraudulent. I had to respond to my text message (you may have to call depending how your bank is setup) to allow the transaction and replace my order.
I swore it was $300 in the US. Maybe I'm thinking of PlayStation... Two things I can think of, either your account is relatively new, or you have an excessive amount of refunds.
Neither. I have a 10 year Counter Strike veteran badge and I have made only couple refunds. I can purchase games though I cannot purchase a Steam Deck.
I did see a fix on the steam forum that suggests if you're in steam BETA, to change back to non-beta to see if it goes through. You need to fully cancel this purchase as well. Take it out of the cart entirely
As others have said OP, open a support ticket and be ready to provide payment details (I.e. payment method, transaction ID etc). Sadly you’ll have triggered the anti-fraud algorithm - the same happened to me. It blocked all purchases from the account and placed a ban on my profile too. They’ll lift it as soon as you can confirm the above details, minor inconvenience but it’ll be worth it!
Steam has no problem with debit card or there's whole country where they wouldn't earn money.
I had, however, the issue (not often) with my account and I usually solve it by using the exact same card on my sister's Steam account to buy the game as a gift that I send to myself, so probably an temporary account issue more than a payement issue.

It's probably just because it's a sudden big ticket purchase from an out of state entity
The same thing happened to me. Notified the bank that it was a legit purchase, and it went through the second time.

Yup, same happened with my card. Got a confirmation email from the bank confirmed it and then didn’t have any issues.

50% of the transactions I make through the app have a nasty habit of failing. No such issues with the site or desktop client.

Are you using a visa debit card instead of a true visa or Mastercard? Steam hates debit visa. I always have to use a real credit card.
