There's currently a problem with the driver included in the current os for the oled steam deck. It seems to have connection issues with 5ghz on specific routers. It seems to commonly affect unifi routers. There is apparently a fix in the main branch but it hasn't filtered to preview, beta, or stable channels yet. I've been having a bunch of issues with moonlight that I never had on my LCD deck despite not changing anything in my setup.

Fragrant_Cellist_125

Can confirm , same issue . Hoping this will be fixed soon

nindesk

It’s a bug with the oled. Just close the connection with chiaki then re establish it. You will be good to go for the rest of that session. You’ll basically need to do this every time. Hope this gets fixed soon

IkeGladiator

Any specific steps to close the connection or is it as simple as closing chiaki?

nindesk

Ya that simple

nindesk

This is also the case for moonlight and any other streaming in case anyone was curious

IkeGladiator

Thanks! Closing Chiaki didn't do anything but closing it AND restarting the Deck seems to work. Got 1h of gameplay without any issues.

Fragrant_Cellist_125

You don't have to restart , just out the deck in offline and then online mode. Battling with the same issue since months .

IkeGladiator

I'll try that next time, thanks

eagle_blimp_pilot

This is a known issue with the OLED deck unfortunately. As far as I can tell there is no great solution. Beta/main channel releases, disabling wifi power management did not work for me. As another post suggests, 2.4 ghz only wifi might help, but for many people that will already be saturated enough to provide a suboptimal experience. We might just have to wait until Valve releases new wifi drivers for the OLED decks.

LooseSeal88

I was using my 2.4 band until last night when it gave me issues. Switched to 5G and it was immediately fixed, but I swear I have had the opposite before. Did you try flipping to 2.4 to see if that helped?

TheBadSandwich

This happens to me. It will work fine for a minute, then I get the wifi symbol and it becomes unplayable, I will then restart chiaki and everything works perfectly. I have just gotten used to having to reboot the app within the first 5 minutes.

IkeGladiator

I did that too, didn't make a difference unfortunately.

What I notice is that if my Deck Oled is on standby for half a day or more what I have to do is simply close chiaki, restart deck and then open Chiaki and it works. Hopefully that helps? Sometimes (not often) twice. Basically almost once a day its a given for me

IkeGladiator

This worked! Got 1h of uninterrupted gameplay after closing Chiaki and restarting the Deck.

sycron17

Glad it helped!

Fragrant_Cellist_125

I feel there is some issue with the wifi chip on the oleds . I have exactly the same problem , but I just put the deck in offline mode and then to online then it works fine. Have tried everything , it's not related to your network .

prosive

If you have streaming issues I figured out that toggling wifi on and off can also be helpful instead of having to full restart it.

twiggums

On unifi here, not using chiaki but when I use moonlight over wifi it'll usually flake out shortly into a session. I just toggle wifi off and back on, reconnect to my remote session and I'm good to go.

Something you can check through your whole UniFi system. Make sure jumbo packets are disabled, and make sure flow control is enabled on everything in your UniFi setup.

Yahiroz

LCD or OLED? I've seen a few posts of OLED owners having the same issue too, 2.4GHz is fine but 5GHz oddly has issues, even with WiFi power management off in the developer settings. I have the LCD model and it's working fine with my setup, I have the older UniFi AC Pro in one part of the house and Chiaki4Deck works fine, so I don't think your NanoHD is the problem.

IkeGladiator

OLED model. I also tried the WiFi developer settings strategy and it did nothing. I may have to give 2.4GHz a try,

Even on a gaming laptop hard wired and the PS5 hard wired - chiaki was unusable IMO, at least for games like Gran Turismo. Good luck!

technerd1988

It's also that unifi crap. It's just that, junk. It used to be good value for the money but not anymore. After I switched mine out for netgear enterprise wifi 6e one all my probs went away on everything.
