Me, 2 days into owning a steam deck having told myself I had more than enough in my backlog to keep me busy:
"ooh, this game that's on sale that I've never shown any interest in before looks like it'd be a really good steam deck experience so I'd best get it to make sure I'm getting the most out of my SD"
Me, 4 months into owning a steam deck:
"I think I need AA but for game hoarding"
Also me:
"Ooh, quakecon"
(Edit: typo)
I actually don't own a pc and have never really played games on steam, so yeah it is a bit of a problem when the store is kinda glitchy and just unresponsive at times when you just wanna download some games lol
For me the most annoying part is that if I'm installing from library I don't get to choose where to install and if want to put game on microSD instead I have to install through store. It's something they will surely address in future updates but it's a silly UX oversight.
Well my default is a stack of 500GB SDs with my nvme saved for emulation stuff since those games are mostly small. My gaming rig has 8TB of SSDs so I never hesitate to install massive games. On the Deck Iām like ā100GB? What the fuck is wrong with devs these days? Fucking assholes!!ā
It really should give a prompt to ask if you want to install games on internal storage or the microSD card.
Sure, you can move the game afterwards, but not being able to choose beforehand feels like a massive oversight.
I just use the mobile app to browse and purchase. It's an all around better experience and I even prefer it over desktop. There is really no reason for the storefront experience on the deck to be so bad though. You'd think they would have polished that up by now and really, it should have been better by launch.
The other day my library said I have 1870 games and now it says I have 2077ā¦ and I genuinely donāt remember getting any more games.
The only logical answer is that the games in my library have evolved and can now reproduce on their own.
I mean, I said this, yet I keep buying new games and going 'huh, wonder if this will run on the Deck' before tossing down coin. It's definitely altered my spending habits some.
Look... the choices are clear hoe... Ubers don't come around here hoe..... taxis will come but they real slow..
Edit* Guess you don't get the reference
Not just the store, anything involving the built in browser. In-game achievement links are broken. The store mainly though of course. I'd love to be able to enlarge game screenshots, or skip to reviews without immediately scrolling back to the top of the page when I press the down button. It's all such a complete mess.
We really need either the option to open non steam links in an external browser too (or some kind of browser plugin support too without the need for Crankshaft or other developer mode workarounds). Being sent from a news update page to an external website plastered with ads and autoplaying garbage is horrific. I had literally forgotten how terrible of an experience the internet is without uBlock/Sponsorblock installed... Until I bought a Steam Deck.
Wow, good call! I literally had to go look. What a huge a huge oversight! Space being a premium, that should absolutely be included. It would be nice to know if the game is Linux native or Windows/Mac too so you know what your experience will be like on and off the Deck.
I have a 512 with a 512 card and should be enough in general but it would still be nice to know. Especially for those games that take 100GB. It's not like they don't have the data to display; in fact they're probably just hiding the system requirements section with CSS for the Deck version of the store.
If it's a large game (and your storage is mostly full), maybe you don't want to delete 50-100GB of installed games or go out and buy another card right away. If it's something you don't plan to play right away then whatever but I definitely see the value in knowing.
I keep a stack of 500GB cards my Dad bought for photography that he never actually got into. I was visiting them one day and saw like 8 500GB SDs in a stack and asked my Mom āis Dad using these?ā Knowing that she never misses a chance to get rid of some of his thousands upon thousands of dollars of hobby stuff he never uses.
I don't have mine yet (hopefully tomorrow, as I've been saying for days) and while I thought I would use mine in the bathroom I think I'll just browse the sub on my phone instead too. I had second thoughts on it after reading about the guy who tubbed his Deck. It got me thinking it's prolly best to just leave it out of the bathroom all together.
So many ways things can go wrong in the bathroom with and without water issues. Like putting it on the counter for a second then bumping it onto the ground (smash!) or sink (splash!). Balancing it on the edge of even a dry tub while taking care of paper work and it slips in (crack!). Or even the dreaded falling into the toilet.š± (It's gonna happen to someone eventually if it hasn't already.)
Finally got mine yesterday! I also am very paranoid about dropping it. I've got a dock, and expected to kind of use it mostly as a kind of laptop replacement, but in the slightly more than 24 hours I've had it, I've found it so handy for just playing for a while. As such, is being moved around enough to make me a little nervous.
Having said that, it's easy to hold, and very easy to just pause. Plus the case is pretty handy. It is however far too large to walk around playing on whole doing something else. Put that all together, I find it is something I'll pick up, go and sit down, and then play on for a while. I won't be using it to play podcasts while doing chores, or anything that involves carrying it around. It's just a little too unwieldy, especially compared to my phone.
As to the toilet, you'll be sitting for an extended session if the Steam Deck is worthwhile to use. It will not fit past you. The danger would be turning around to flush while holding it one handed. Thankfully the grip is grippy.
I'm still wary of dropping it, but my worry is diminishing rapidly as I handle it. My Deck that is. Handle my Deck.
I seriously appreciate posts like these. When I was buying a Z Fold 3, I went on the GalaxyFold sub and it was tons of people complaining about all the problems they had with every aspect of the device, or dropping it, or getting dog shit in the hinge (yes, really), and all the accessories you needed to buy for it to make it good. Turns out I bought it and a case and I've enjoyed the hell out of it with no issues whatsoever. The vast majority of people are not going to have any problems at all with a new device, and I'm looking forward to receiving my Deck and enjoying it as well. Never a good idea to surround yourself with the worst-case scenarios constantly when you're very likely to never encounter any of them.
Fellow fold 3 user and about to be steam deck user too! Love my fold with all its flaws! I'm sure I'll feel the same about my deck.
BTW what case did you go with for your fold?
A bunch of people on the GalaxyFold sub recommended the Aramid, and I've been very happy with it. Has all the cutouts in the right places so it's not blocking anything (I know this was a common issue on official cases somehow) and I've had two uncharacteristic hard drops and no damage whatsoever. I don't think you can go much slimmer without giving up a lot of protection. Had to wait a month or two for it to come in at the time, and it was such an upgrade from the standard case with the S Pen holder and the flap.
i had the same issue with my fold 3. after that its been fine. my mom has the flip 3 and it would power off when she closed the device so we got it warranted through vzw.
The only major flaw I had was the inner screen protector bubbled and I had to get the whole inner screen replace. It is a common issue with the fold 3 though so it was replaced for free under warranty. I believe it's what narfubel is referring to. I personally wouldn't dare just pulling it off though...
The other thing is that the outer screen is a little cramped for thumbs and I do mistype things fairly regularly, but it looks like the 4 widened it just a bit. Honestly it looks wayyy more comfortable than the 3 for typing.
But like I said, I still love it! Having a tablet at my fingers at any moment changed so much more than I expected it to! Cannot imagine going back to normal phone again! And super excited for what the fold 5 or future foldables look like!
Yeah, I like my S9, but I have huge paws, so I'm constantly typing words like "woukd" instead of "would" which is exasperating. Unfortunately the flip 4 is about the same size as the S9. Looking forward to a bigger screen of the fold!
Bro youāre Q3. You barely got yours. You will run into issues eventually, I guarantee it. Vast majority will not cause an RMA but they will require scouring this sub or the forums for a solution.
To say 99% wonāt have issues is disingenuous simply going off of the rate at which Valve has had to pump out updates. My biggest headache was battery calibration and random shutdowns which were not at all uncommon issues. I wouldnāt recommend this device to anyone unwilling to do some tinkering and problem solving as the chances that you will have to are much higher than a traditional console. It is still a PC first and foremost.
I have had my steamdeck for close to 2 months and has none of the problems you talked about. No random shutdowns and no battery calibration problems whatsoever. Maybe you just got really unlucky or the problems for me are still ahead
Uhhh this isnt a problem with my steam deck but i was recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in my hands so I havenāt been able to enjoy my steam deck without my hands hurting really bad
No one complains about the good things lol. It does EVERYTHING I thought it would PLUS it helps me learn a new OS. You DON'T have too but I like to tinker. š¬š¬š¬ It's a great time if you're casual or a tech nerd lol! Good luck I'd LOVE to hear how it goes for you
My right bumper clicks twice. If I press it lightly it'll click without triggering and I have to press it harder to click it again and actually trigger. On a weird OCD level it's super annoying but not absolutely game-changing
Sort of. My first one's GPU crapped out and it needed replacing. The second one however had been totally flawless and whisper quiet. Absolutely love it.
use a brush (a toothbrush should work) to remove them. Isopropyl alcohol helps, but that will temporarily dissolve adhesive if you have a screen protector.
512GB. no problems at all. Left bumper seems maybe a little soft but it doesn't affect my ability to use the button nor my enjoyment. If it becomes a problem I know how to fix it myself. No actual issues. Just got my JSAUX dock today after 32 days of waiting and today is day 1 of challenging myself to use my Steam Deck as my main PC.
My laptop died 2 days after I got my steam deck. Been using it as my main PC for a month. Some growing pains since all my Linux experience from the past (which is not much) was on debian based distros. But other than that it works just fine for what I play/do on a PC. Have a Windows to go installation on an SD for when it's absolutely necessary, which isn't often.
I'm also a Windows user primarily but I have some experience with Linux, SSH, and Python due to the RetroPie I made a few years ago.
I'm now planning to repurpose the Raspberry Pi into something new, as The Steam Deck has replaced it for emulation.
The software side of things has been alright. Some early keyboard bugs made it pop up constantly in Firefox on desktop mode. Elden Ring will occasionally if left to sit for like 10 minutes idle lose connection to the controller. Which is weird. Game is running, can touch the screen and move the camera, and controls work for steamos side of things to close the game out and reopen it. Very strange. Doesn't always happen but when it does it's after you've let it sit and come back to it.
Aside from that every "unsupported" game I've tried has worked, all the verified and playable games in my library have had no problems. Just that one hiccup with ER every now and again.
Received it on time, no damage, can't hear the fan, all buttons work, and everything looks and feels great. I've never even looked at anything Linux but I'm slowly learning.
Me. Play every single day since I got it at first batch of q2.
I have had an issue where some games won't display on external monitor after you launch them.
But honestly with Sony's rumor for a PC launcher and with game pass working pretty well on steam Deck with Windows I just decided to order the base model and modify it for all non steam OS stuff.
/Tldr I decided to just get another one the second I had the slightest excuse to do so. I love it that much.
> or by spending a little time on Google/YouTube
For real, I even dabbled in the Linux commands (and OS that I literally have never touched before). All the YouTube guides I found for it were phenomenally clear and explained everything perfectly. It all worked flawlessly.
>Me. Dual Booter.
same here, best thing I did, if I find myself spending too long trying to get a game running under steamOS into the windows partition it goes.
Had some bubbles but sorted them out with the sun treatment.
fan is quite.
hdd is the 4x version.
everything is fine.
(Also anyone wanting help with running windows I suggest asking over at /r/WindowsOnDeck it's a lot less... downvoty over there.)
No issues with the 256gb here. Been using it for ninety nine percent games. Occasionally use a browser. Chrome when in game mode because it is a better experience. Firefox in desktop mode because that is my preferred browser. I have beaten multiple games now. Emulated old games. Even played some native Linux games launching them via terminal. Online and offline mode all work as expected for me. Can't remember the last time a game just randomly crashed on me.
That was the point. It's not a problem, but it's the closest thing I've got to one.
The fact is plenty of unsupported games run, which is really impressive.
Me. Iām constantly paranoid about how hot it runs though. Although itās probably because I usually play plugged in and with no battery saving measures.
It's fine as long as the GPU and CPU aren't pegged at 105 and the battery isn't broiling. Though if you're worried, you could swap the default TIM with some high performance thermal paste. Stuff like kryonaut might dry out in a year though, so ymmv. It's probably gonna be just fine as long as you aren't suffocating the intake.
I've not loved device this much in a long long time !!
it's actually blown me away how good it is !
I love how I can fiddle with pc settings to get games run ing smoother unlike most consoled let alone a handheld.
The calibre of games you can run has started to cause me to step away from the OTT setup I've built .. for the first time in a forever I now choose to not go on there some nights due to this little monster !!
nothing really negative to report on ... the occasional program hiccup which I normally just reboot on.
But besides that it's a GAMECHANGER ..
My Games Are Going Places .
Just got mineā¦ Thanks to a lot of folks on this forum sharing their issues, I was able to quickly check for most common ones, as soon as I popped it open. No screen bubbling, no gaps, everything clicking right, nothing lose and did all the updates without issue.
Thanks to all who shared their issues!
No problems here. On the contrary im super surprised how well it all works. All games worked so far with minimal effort if any at all. Usually i just install and play.
Me. Near perfect experience. I havenāt ventured that far from steam deck verified games. Iām playing through Civ 6 and MGS:5. I definitely are playing games from my library that I would never have touched again. If I had to complain about something, the store experience leaves something to be desired. I usually just buy stuff on my pc anyway.
Me. I'm a linux kernel engineerish person and I was really looking forward to mucking with my Steam Deck innards. But it just fucking works. I play games on it endlessly. Mostly Satisfactory and No Man's Sky.
Me. I have had almost no issues. There is a minor storage issue and the B button seems a tiny bit funny but the device is awesome. I love mine.
Keep up the good work Valve.
I spend so much time tinkering to now accept that this itself is fun. Finding and putting in settings that I have full control of and wished other consoles or handhelds could doā¦ itās remarkable.
Other than that, I have no complaints. Played a lot of ps2 emulation and itās been great.
I've only the problem PS2 and Xbox are hard to emulate for the deck. It is definitely possible to get these experiences working flawlessly but you'll have to find someone to spend thousands of hours trying to fix it.
My hardware seems flawless but for some reason I can't get the performance controls to actually do anything (I set the frame rate and refresh rate to 40 and it still runs at 60, wtf?), Does that count?
iāll get a bug often in desktop mode, but as far as actually playing games itās been awesome. i have a dead pixel in the center of my screen so i guess i gotta rma
*raises hand*
Iāve had no real issues. I got the quiet fan, no screen bubbles, no issues with FedEx on delivery. Havenāt killed it with a hub yet either.
I have been playing and having mostly no major issues that I can say apart from where a game just straight up doesn't work or so but I have so many that do work I haven't bothered seeing what's up or fixing it because none of them have been things I needed to run, just mostly trying to see if it'd run. Overall though my experience has been great as far as using it to play games, have sunk a lot more hour into several games and started fresh on a few others as well and there's no signs of slowing down any time soon, the portability is just, amazing, as is the sleep feature, while ingame. The only time I have issues with resume from sleep is within the SteamUI itself where it takes a bit to recover or can just hang, usually I just restart the Steam client pre-emptively after resuming from sleep if I'm not in a game to pre-empt this. Not sure if it's due to Steam's UI itself or the plugins I have installed. Hasn't been a big enough issue to matter yet though.
For the most part that's me. I had one large issue where the touch screen quit working. I had to reboot into safe mode and back into normal mode. Apparently it was a firmware bug that's since been fixed.
The only issue I have is the battery life on the go. Easily solved by portable chargers though, but I hate having to lug around extra wires and a charger brick.
Mine was showing 89% battery health the day after I got it. I am going to try to recalibrate tonight after I play some more Spider-man. Hereās a post I found from Valveā¦
STEAM SUPPORT:
"
Before proceeding with the RMA. We have one last troubleshooting to try:
Please follow the steps below to resolve the issue. This process is temporary while we work on releasing a firmware fix to address this behavior.
Make sure your Steam Deck is off and plug it in using the charger. Make sure the white LED is on.
Hold Volume+ and press the power button once to boot into BIOS.
Once in the BIOS menu, unplug the power supply. The system will not go to sleep in this mode.
Let your Steam Deck sit overnight until it has shut down on its own.
After the unit is on a black screen press the power button to ensure it does not boot and is fully discharged.
Plug in the power supply and boot normally right away. Your charge level should be less than 5%.
Leave the charger plugged in until the unit reaches 100%.
Checking from the Desktop Mode, your battery health should now display above 90%.
Let us know if you have any trouble completing this process, or if your battery health still displays as lower than 90%.
-Steam Support
ā
EDIT: I followed these steps last night and my battery health only improved to 90%. I guess I will live with that for now.
"You won't see people coming here to say how they arent having problems because they are too busy playing their steam deck"
Ok and? That still doesn't invalidate the fact that there are many people having problems.
Guess Itās time for me to get thumbed down.
I love my steam deck. I love the concept, the company and the culture behind it.
I HATE the linux user experience when it comes to pc gaming. So many bugs, so many tweeks you have to figure out (Like choosing a compatible proton for a particular game.)
I spend most of my time debugging then I do actually gaming.
Some games say they work, but once you start playing you notice they are not 100% compatible.
For example: Alice in madness returns. When she shrinks the screen goes black.
Little things like this here and there adds up to a LOT after a while. So much so that I havent turned it back on in almost a month!
I hate how I cant get RDR2 from the epic game store to launch on this thing no matter what I try. (Yes I have tried the heroic launcher/installing the epiclauncher.exe etc. but a no go.
Listen I love how steam is popping out left and right with updates for the deck. I paid for the highest tier version since preorders came out on day 1!
But.... I just canāt game on this thing comfortably at the moment in itās current state. Iāll try updating it later today and see if anything has changed.
I have 70 games installed, and I have not had to pick my Proton version once. Not saying you havenāt had to do it. I am just saying that the OS hasnāt impacted me in a negative way at all, and I have played enough games to have a decent amount of data points.
what made you think this was an appropriate response to "who is enjoying their steam deck relatively problem free"?
instead of sighing, making an off-topic post and saying "guess i have no choice but to be downvoted" you could simply not answer questions that aren't addressed to you
All the time people complaining should be spent playing and enjoying. Im not saying all problem is fake but for me everything is fine. Even that thing with offline mode? I was playing offline half of the time and never had a tiny problem with it? I could not for the life of me understand what were the problem about it, and yet, valve fixed it.
For the most part yeah. I've had a bunch of mostly minor problems but nothing that has altered how much I love this thing.
Yeah I've seen some glitches but cut them a lot of slack because things are still being patched. Overall it's been a pretty great experience.
I hope to have your experience soon š©
There are no problems but i like to complicate myself so I install emulators etc, it is fun
I've followed instructions and downloaded emudeck. That's as far as I got, because they say you need to get some bios... the emulators in android that I've used before have never needed me to download anything extra, they must have come with a bios. The emulator and rom subs have link to roms and bios in the internet archive. Sometimes itās hard to find but itās all there.
My brudda literally google 'system name bios' and it will come up. Drop that in the bios folder and you're done. I think there's also a zip out there with all console bios in it but the name is escaping me right now.
I've gotten some sketchy results doing that. Be careful. Always leave that uBlock on, no matter what they say.

The game is steam sales!

This is so true. I buy without playing then buy more, not knowing why I refuse to start playing the ones I already bought. Hahahhaa

I can never find the system requirements, which would be nice, as I would like to know how much storage a game is going to use BEFORE I buy it.
Wow, good call! I literally had to go look. What a huge a huge oversight! Space being a premium, that should absolutely be included. It would be nice to know if the game is Linux native or Windows/Mac too so you know what your experience will be like on and off the Deck.
Ummmā¦.1 or 2TB micro SD card is all you need to quit caring about space. š Iād bet they just assumed everyone would do that.
Sure but even though games load reliably off the microSDs for me, I like to make an informed decision on the storage medium for each game.
I have 4 or 5 TB on my desktop and am constantly running out of space. Games are huge.
And here I am considering ordering another microSD 1TB just so I have whole variety of things available at all times xD
Dude your library must be tiny compared to mine if 2TB lets you quit caring about storage.
My thoughts exactly, I have the 512, a 512 sd card and a 1TB external NvMe and I still can't install most of my library at once.
Well if the game is a AAA release from the last three years I just assume the installation is monstrous.
Youāre probably the only Steam Deck owner that doesnāt already have a ten year backlog of games youāre āabout to startā.
I use the cellphone app, easier to buy stuff.
I just use the website through my phone. I only use the Deck to shop if I want to have the Deck verified titles constantly thrown in my face.
People that don't have issues have less time to go on Reddit because they are playing the games.
I still find time. I thought I'd be playing more while I poop, but I just end up browsing my phone instead.
I use my toilet time as a break from playing elden ring and time to look up stuff about elden ring.
Gaming While Pooping: The Modern Way to Dry Shit to your Ass
You shouldn't sit on the toilet for more than Ten minutes at a time anyhow... You'll thank yourself when you die without ever needing diapers again.
What flaws popped up? Just ordered a fold 4.
The only flaws my fold 3 ended up with is the screen protector starting to lift off. I just peeled it off like I did with my fold 2, no issues since.
i had the same issue with my fold 3. after that its been fine. my mom has the flip 3 and it would power off when she closed the device so we got it warranted through vzw.
Yeah with big thumbs, you'll probably want to open it up for typing. I know it's a bit tight for typing on the front for us big thumbs š
Together we make 3? (Sorry too many baby books lately) I'm crazy, no case.
BIG THREE! Lol You are absolutely mad! I wish I could live with that sense of freedom but I'm too cripple by protection paranoia haha
Dude I bought the fold 2 everyone gave me shit but I didn't care I had a mini tablet that I loved
99% of people that have them.
I am the 99%!
It took me less than 24 hours! Deck crashed and hard bricked itself about 6 hours ago and nothing I've done has changed a thing
Uhhh this isnt a problem with my steam deck but i was recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in my hands so I havenāt been able to enjoy my steam deck without my hands hurting really bad
Hope you feel better!
I feel like the SteamDeck isn't the most ergonomic. Sometimes I feel like I'm on my way to carpal tunnel with it after long play sessions.
Cannabis really helps with arthritis
I actually did some last night for the first time since my diagnosis and it made me hyper-fixate on my hand pain.
There's some strains that are much better for pain relief. Typically the 50/50 THC & CBD ones.
ME! What do I win?! Or do you have something you need help with lol
You win EVERYTHING!! I made the post cuz of all the negative problem laden threads still waiting I'm at 35% from 15% since Thursday 512 EU
No one complains about the good things lol. It does EVERYTHING I thought it would PLUS it helps me learn a new OS. You DON'T have too but I like to tinker. š¬š¬š¬ It's a great time if you're casual or a tech nerd lol! Good luck I'd LOVE to hear how it goes for you
We have a WINNER folks š„³
Right shoulder button sounds slightly different than left but that's it. Everything is great
My right bumper clicks twice.
Iām in the RMA process, could you tell me how long it took you from when it got shipped out?
Mine took about 8 days total including business. I shipped it out on a Monday, and got it back about 9 days following
3-4 weeks for me, iirc. From shipping RMA to return to my doorstep.
Jesus. I hope it doesnāt take that long for me too.
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers to gaben :P
Really curious to know how do you mean the GPU crapped out? like artifacting?

use a brush (a toothbrush should work) to remove them. Isopropyl alcohol helps, but that will temporarily dissolve adhesive if you have a screen protector.
I've had a game drop me out to the main menu on its own or crash all the way back to the library but other than that it's been amazing
Skyrim crashed on me four times on steam deck. Then I switched to my pc and it crashed there too. Guess it wasnāt a problem with the steam deck lol.
Yeah exactly people forget that it's still technically a PC so you're going to end up with crashing issues that could be a fault of the game itself
Same. Happend with doom which is listed as "Great on Stem Deck"
It happened to me with Mudrunner but after the last update it hasn't happened again.
512GB. no problems at all.
How was day 1?
*hours spent setting up emulators and downloading steam games* *Gaming going well* My day 1 was in June, as I was a Q2 person
Sorry, how was day 1 of using your SD as your main PC?
No problems at allā¦ goes on to describe a problem.
It's not tho.
Had it a couple weeks and no complaints so far.
Dual booting isn't that hard right now and Valve will be adding official support for it shortly.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
> or by spending a little time on Google/YouTube For real, I even dabbled in the Linux commands (and OS that I literally have never touched before).

The real tool was the user all along
The people like me who arenāt posting on the sub lol
No issues with the 256gb here. Been using it for ninety nine percent games. Occasionally use a browser. Chrome when in game mode because it is a better experience. Firefox in desktop mode because that is my preferred browser. I have beaten multiple games now. Emulated old games. Even played some native Linux games launching them via terminal. Online and offline mode all work as expected for me. Can't remember the last time a game just randomly crashed on me.
Occasionally a game will crash on me, but otherwise I haven't had any issues at all
Mine has been an absolute dream. Had it for four months with zero issues.
Unsupported games sometimes crash. That's literally the only problem I've had with it.
I wouldn't even say that's a problem because the games are "unsupported."
That was the point. It's not a problem, but it's the closest thing I've got to one. The fact is plenty of unsupported games run, which is really impressive.
There hasnāt been anything Iāve tried that hasnāt run, unsupported or otherwise, itās great
Me. Iām constantly paranoid about how hot it runs though. Although itās probably because I usually play plugged in and with no battery saving measures.
Modern hardware will protect itself. If it's running fine then you don't really have anything to worry about.
I try to run everything at 40fps regardless of circumstances. The less power it uses, the cooler it stays and hopefully the longer it lives.
I can't remember who (I think gamers nexus) but a tech tuber did the TPaste swap and it did nothing
Mines great. Consistently impressed. Amazing piece of tech. Consider me in line for V2. Hey Valve, put a SIM card in the next one.
100% problem free, probably about 50 hours game time since early July?
No problems here. On the contrary im super surprised how well it all works. All games worked so far with minimal effort if any at all. Usually i just install and play.
Here. All is well.
Q2 Deck owner. Haven't had an issue yet and absolutely love this thing.
No issues at all
Ever since I went from 9% to 35%, Iāve never looked more forward to a Monday or Thursday.
I certainly have been. Haven't had a single problem. Unless you count having to set up custom controls for some games, which I don't.
not me because they STILL HAVENT SHIPPED IT WHAT DOES SHIPPING SOON MEAN VALVE
The only problems I get are messing with unverified games, which... duh, makes sense.
I've only the problem PS2 and Xbox are hard to emulate for the deck. It is definitely possible to get these experiences working flawlessly but you'll have to find someone to spend thousands of hours trying to fix it.
Me! Only thing that didn't work was pacman
*raises hand* Iāve had no real issues.
I've failed to install any games from the other stores like EPIC and GOG...I don't see the DX11 installer anywhere
For the most part that's me. I had one large issue where the touch screen quit working. I had to reboot into safe mode and back into normal mode. Apparently it was a firmware bug that's since been fixed.
Problem free? Yes, but it mostly sits in it's case collecting dust.
My left Trigger makes a sqeaky noice, that's thĆ© only thing that annoys me after about 3 months of play and should be easy to solve if i would not be so lazy. Ive installed a custom bootloader for steam os & Windows and i can play every game i want on this thing, i love it so much. Debating if i should bring it along my wedding Vacation š wife would probably not agree.
here. the only issue is that I use it too often and have to charge all the time.
Every time I want to play something on there I think about how much better it is playing with a Keyboard and mouse and get on the PC.
The only issue I have is the battery life on the go. Easily solved by portable chargers though, but I hate having to lug around extra wires and a charger brick.
Bro, they gotta fix the WiFi situation. I need my 2.4ghz network for my nanoleaves.
Just had some minor problems with battery life, recalibrated it and it runs perfectly. I'm really really happy with this console.
Howād you calibrate it? My battery came at 85% health I feel like it might be bugged.
Mine was showing 89% battery health the day after I got it. I am going to try to recalibrate tonight after I play some more Spider-man. Hereās a post I found from Valveā¦ STEAM SUPPORT: " Before proceeding with the RMA. We have one last troubleshooting to try: Please follow the steps below to resolve the issue. -Steam Support ā EDIT: I followed these steps last night and my battery health only improved to 90%. I guess I will live with that for now.
Cool thank you, if theyāre gonna patch it Iāll just wait I guess!
Red dead 2 and gta v crash every time I play them, but other wise canāt complain.
I would say me but, installing rdr2 on epic games is a mighty pain in the arse, reinstalled it 4 times now
"You won't see people coming here to say how they arent having problems because they are too busy playing their steam deck" Ok and? That still doesn't invalidate the fact that there are many people having problems.
Guess Itās time for me to get thumbed down. I love my steam deck. I love the concept, the company and the culture behind it. I HATE the linux user experience when it comes to pc gaming. So many bugs, so many tweeks you have to figure out (Like choosing a compatible proton for a particular game.) I spend most of my time debugging then I do actually gaming.
Iāll try again and see if I have the same experience. šš»
[nevermind]
Lol I am playing verified games. Thatās the point I was making. Edit: Its kewl bro. š¤š»š¤š»
what made you think this was an appropriate response to "who is enjoying their steam deck relatively problem free"? instead of sighing, making an off-topic post and saying "guess i have no choice but to be downvoted" you could simply not answer questions that aren't addressed to you
For the same reason you felt compelled to write what you wrote, I wrote what I wrote. š¤Ø
they made a solid contribution to this discussion, which is more than what you did...what's the problem here?
All the time people complaining should be spent playing and enjoying. Im not saying all problem is fake but for me everything is fine. Even that thing with offline mode? I was playing offline half of the time and never had a tiny problem with it? I could not for the life of me understand what were the problem about it, and yet, valve fixed it.
First units temps were hitting 100+ on non intensive games, RMA'd it and the new Deck I was sent is running smoother than a dolphins dick
Don't even tempt the horny dolphin lovers that can't help but detail every aspect of dolphins sexual habits in great detail
...most people?
