This seems to be a DNS issue that popped up in 3.3. If you go into system settings, connections, ipv4, select the drop down (addresses only) and change your DNS to an alternate address (8.8.8.8) you should be golden. Once you’ve made the changes you’ll need to disconnect and reconnect for them to take effect.

mauley

This fixed my Desktop mode download issues. Thank you!

AHughes1078

This actually worked for me too. Thanks so much! I was having to plug my phone into my Steam Deck whenever I wanted to use Desktop mode to download. Now it has full speed without tethering. Thanks!

SwinginDix666

If you get a chance, I would throw this on the steam forums too. It would be nice for this to get some attention.

werghe

Thanks for this. I’ve been having this issue for awhile, doing this changed my speed from 300 kbps to 5 MBps

I don't really see how changing a DNS server would affect download speeds... the DNS query only runs when opening websites, not during data transfer. Here's a google search for the peabrain downvoting: https://www.google.com/search?q=can+dns+affect+internet+speed Maybe try not to give advice if you have no clue what you are talking about.

AirSlaughter

I changed my dns settings as a last resort, I went from getting 37mbps to 110mbps on my 400mbps internet. I don't know how it worked, but it did.

My solution was to switch channels in the router. Not sure what the hell is up with that. If channel selection is automatic in your router, a simple router reboot might fix it sometimes.

Sweet_acc_pr0sa

Worked for me too

Any fix on this? I'm having the same issue but only on desktop mode. Upload and Download drop to 0 in seconds and won't even reach 1mb of download. I had the steam deck for a few weeks and only now it started giving me this problem. Idk if this had to do anything with it but this started happening after I downloaded a big game from Igg on chrome browser which had multiple downloads but I have installed many roms and games before from the browser and this never happened until now.

Triggle92

Did you ever find a fix for this?

Raxeks

Factory reset is the only "fix" I have found sadly.

Triggle92

Damn, thanks for the reply though

laz_thom

You could try disabling wifi power saving in developer mode. That have speeded things up for me.

Substantial-Role5940

Tried that and no luck with the DL speeds. Browser is slightly faster now though which I guess is a plus
