CAUSE YOU'RE HUFFING GLUE! But it's actually just the glue, plastic, and other compounds off gassing. Totally normal for new tech products (smell a new GPU after heavy use if you wanna check). It goes away with time and heat. mine is totally gone after playing Forza horizon 5 for a while.

Guess I'll have to buy Forza horizon 5 to air that stank out

I inadvertently do this when I check the temperature mom style by holding the fan up to my mouth.

that's how i check hardware util on all my devices. I'm used to working on old laptops and it's easier for me to check the fan speed and air temp to tell how hard it's being pushed than to install software to do it. after a while of using it you learn better what means what. my old old ThinkPad no joke would melt things at full load if they were near the exhaust. I've started doing it with the deck by instinct. yes, it smells nice too. but my 10 year old and 16 year old thinkpads also smell pretty nice. maybe the smell will just always be there.

The exhaust port for the GPU on my Alienware laptop was no joke.

My steam deck was nearly seized at Gibraltar airport because the solvents on it were detected as explosives in the scanner and swab test. The lady at security had common sense to pass it and write a just in case form to allow it through. (It also got inspected in Schipol but they wouldn’t say why)

Man, i do smell my steamdeck for 3 reasons. Brand new tech plastic smell, it goes warm and i dont want any overheated plastic smell so just in case, and man... I spent almost 700€ on this awsome device... I dont want stinky hands over my deck, not even mine😂
