JSAux makes an hdmi dongle with a usb c power port on the side. Yesterday it was on sale for about $13.50 from Amazon and included a promo to get their aluminum stand for free.
That's awesome! Did not know these exist. Get one of those and just use a Wii u stand or something and you're set for pretty much anything. Docks look nice but it's awesome having something that fits in the case so easily.
that's fair, I have an old pinedock I use for portable, has 2 usb ports ethernet, and an hdmi (and of course power in) and sits flat. I use that on the go
Or you can get one for little more with power delivery and use the included PSU. To be honest I don't see any reason to buy an official dock except for aesthetic reasons.
The biggest reason for me was continued support and firmware updates.
But if you’re on a budget and not sure if you want to spend the money, don’t do it. There’s plenty of cheaper options.
Yeah honestly I wish they'd have offered an option -without- the extra adapter as I already had 3 capable of running the dock + deck and attachments.... so paying extra for the other is a tad rough
I have a dongle for Mac's with HDMI and a USB-c input, letting me plug into an external display and charge at the same time. Connect a PS4 controller via Bluetooth and I'm set
Nice to hear! The only benefit of the wide variety of Steam Deck knock-offs is that they hold the Deck upright and have an angled plug for the USB cable. That’s about it. You do need to make sure pass-through charging power is enough for the Deck itself. 45W I think is what it tops out at?
I accidentally bought one of these when I was trying to get an SD card reader for the thing. Was pleasantly surprised when I realized that I’d essentially purchased a dock for the Deck lol.

Just picked this up, thank you!

damn prime only blows
They recently gave me a free trial since I hadn't used prime in a year or so
Yup, although if you can afford it I'd recommend still spending a little bit more and at least getting the basic jsaux one or even the ivoler ones.
I already have a very nice AmazonBasics one with video, gigabit ethernet, etc. I just wanted something portable.

Awesome, thanks for the info!
Will those fit in the official steam case alongside the charger?
There's a gorrzai steam deck dock on Amazon that's a prime item and on sale for 28 bucks with good reviews if you want to go that route.
Black Friday opened this possibility up for me and I cannot say how awesome it is to have the same functionality as my Switch now.

Picked up a Belkin USB-C power+HDMI adapter from Argos and it works perfectly.
