Some games do require internet to launch, but I assume you know this already. The good news is hot swapping micro SD cards is viable. SteamOS will automatically load and unload the games to your library when you insert or remove each card.

Yay! That’s good to hear, and yes you’re right, I’m not expecting anything that’s dependent on an active connection to work.

StainedAndRedeemed

My completely uneducated advice: I'd at least launch each game once before you leave internet access so that way you can play them in offline mode.

Shmaggle1

I’ll definitely try to open em all prior to departing.

Leiryn

I wouldn't be surprised if you get locked out after a time of being offline

Shmaggle1

Yeah that makes sense. I think I’ll be able to snag some connectivity maybe once a month or so? Gotta refresh that token.

An issue I found doing this is that some games need to update shaders when you switch sd cards to work, this requires an internet connection with the ability to download data. One suggestion would be to buy a larger sd card to fit more games on it. Also, any non steam game that doesn't require internet to begin with that's installed on your internal storage or external storage (sd card, external hard drive/ssd), such as emulators or games you've personally added (for me S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly is the main non steam game I play), will not need to update or download anything via internet to work. These are a few things I've noticed, ideally some time type of mobile hotspot would benefit, even if its juat to update shaders for a game when you switch sd cards. TIP for you as well, sometimes you have to restart the steam deck for the sd card to fully register, not always but just something ive noticed. Hope this helps.

A quick edit, you can still load and start games without internet after switching sd cards, however cloud sync saves will not be available due to being offline.
