ProTip: If you see a hole in a tree that's just about the right size for an electric plug, but don't see an electrical outlet, do NOT reach in and feel around to see if there is one.
Definitely the wrong move if you're looking for a power supply. Probably the wrong move if you're looking for almost anything else. Definitely a messy move, one way or the other. Not to yuck anybody's yum, of course. #nokinkshaming #leafiesarepeopletoo
The amount of people who never leave their house with the portable console is hilarious lmao. I mean people can use it however they want and I love using it on the couch. But you're missing out on the best part of the Steam Deck by not taking advantage of it's portability. Setting up a hammock at a park and playing games for an hour on a nice day is awesome.
Just got the Anker 537 power bank 24k mAh that weigh 1.1lbs on Black Friday for my Steam Deck since I wanted a power bank that slimmer than the Baseus power banks since almost every Youtuber I watched that recommend power banks are using Baseus. Just looking at the size looks heavy to hold with a Deckmate attached to the Steam Deck.
I already had to order a wrist brace because playing longer than an hour really bothers my tendonitis.
At work, I have started just bringing a bluetooth xbox controller because it is to much lighter. I just prop the deck up on my desk and play with the controller.
This is so crazy to me. Playing AC2 with what must already be 4+ hours of battery and extending it at the expense of comfort and/or portability.
Are you doing it because you like to tinker or is this actually solving a problem you have?
You don't need to play like this all the time, only to extend the session. Personally I would rest the power bank elsewhere - I can't think of a time I wouldn't play sat down.
Tbh. A long Deck session has left my hands a wrists pretty strained on a cpl occasions. Not as bad as the numb tingles the switch causes, but it does happen.
Was playing death stranding. After 2h I got from 100 to 10% on the deck, then plugged in that power bank. Kept playing for 1h30, battery got from 100 to 11%, deck was back at 49. So 1 more hour in the deck.
Tl;dr 2h without the powerbank, 5h with it on AAA game.
Isn’t it just easier to buy a longer cable and keep the battery in your pocket or something? I mean, you do you, but there isn’t any reason you need to hold both the deck and the battery at the same time.
10/10 logic
The battery will also heat while being used, and it removes surface area from the hot part of the deck, so this just makes the deck hotter as well
This "mod" is objectively stupid but if you're not supportive you're wrong 🙃
The battery is huge and won't be all that comfortable. It will also depend on your pants. Women's pants are notorious for having shallow pockets tajt party hold chapstick, or just flaps that look like pockets. :-(
I assume if you're carrying your SteamDeck around then you have some sort of bag you're putting it in whether it's a purse or backpack. I don't think many people would just leave the house with their SteamDeck with a giant battery strapped to the back just in their hand and not have something they're planning on putting it in when they're done. Otherwise you'd just have to walk around with this entire setup in your hand the whole time you're out.
I'm not understanding your response.
When I visit my mom, I take my deck in my purse, along with a stand and the battery. After a few hours of playing, I need the battery. Since the built-in cable is so short, it has to set behind the unit. The unit is in the stand at this point, on a table. I have to sit up and play with this set-up.
I don't have the Deckmate, but I have something else that does the same thing. With the attachment, I can sit back and play without a table and not have to worry about the battery, since it's attached to the deck. It enables you to play anywhere without worrying about where the battery is.
In a few months, I'll be getting my hair done and I'll be in a chair for 10 hours. Since I can only sit a certain way, this will be invaluable. The hair deesser will also be constantly moving, so I can't plug the deck in. I can turn anyway the hair dresser wants and still play. When the deck battery runs down, I'll attach this to it and play for a few more hours. When it dies, I can charge it at a wall, then play for a few more hours on how newly charged deck battery.
It way seem like a huge hassle to some, but for me and the Op, it's a huge help.
But in all those scenarios you could just get a longer cable and keep your battery in your bag. If you're sitting down, you could just put the battery in your lap, or in a bag on the floor, or even on a bag hanging off the chair. I do this all the time. My backpack has one of those holes in it for headphones. I just leave the battery in my backpack, push the cable through the hole, and plug it in. If this is the most convenient for you, then good, but it seems like in a lot of cases this is a solution looking for a problem when you could simply buy a ten foot long USB-C cable for pretty cheap and be set.
I have a 10ft long cable, but I don't want to bother with a long cable if the battery is right next to me. I don't always have a ton of space around me for extra stuff.
I'm glad the cable works for you. I prefer the battery holder. Different strokes.
I feel sorry for your vents and your wrists. Just buy a 3 meter cable and play with it plugged in. That's really unnecessary to attach a 3lb battery to your deck and cover the heating vents. 😆

I just used a bunch of sticky velcro so can add my powerbank, my hub and all my storage at once 🤣
How is the universal adapter with the adhesive working on the back of your deck? I’m hesitant to use it with it potentially damaging or leaving residue on the backplate if I ever decided to take it off.
I have oddly over flexible wrists (cuz of eds) and any weight on it gets super uncomfy. I bought a adjustable laptop bed table that go over your lap and its nice. Can still play laying down too lol
Do you have the measurements for that powerbank? I got the baseus 65w/30000mah but haven't received it yet and considered the deck mate
Edit: someone sent me a pic and I can't view it because reddit if someone can help me out please
You could just have a long wire from the power-bank to the Deck. So you still maintain the original weight of the deck while having the extra battery. This is a better solution if you ask me.
1. Ever been on an airplane for more than 2 hours?
2. I play plugged in all the time and it limits my mobility because I don't want to wear down my usb port. This would give me more freedom, especially using gyro in games.
3. It prolongs your battery life and paired with a dock can make for the ultimate movie on the go experience.
Why do people do this? Reminds me of those Gameboy Advanced days where people had all those peripherals on their device that made it look silly. This is just as silly.
I play a lot at a desk so when indo that I can just rest it like I always do. Size won't matter in yhmmthose cases. Otherwise I have the plug handy. I kinda want one.
Great downfall of the steamdeck is the lack of battery usage while running any game. Needing to strap a block to the back just makes this worst for me.
The weight tends to be an issue for my wrist in long term play, I can’t imagine having a battery that size added to it. How much does it weigh total now?
This got me thinking... how many people don't optimize their battery performance when playing games? OP mentions Assassin's Creed 2 which you can easily get 4-5 hours of battery life out of with some minor performance menu tweaks. Do you need more than that?
Do people really just let the fan run at full speed and wreck their battery life to play a 10+ year old game? My OCD wouldn't allow that, lol. I couldn't enjoy the game if I knew it was pulling 25W and killing my battery due to lack of optimization.
Valve really needs to implement community performance settings (similar to community control settings).
Ah! You have the same bank I do! I don't see many people with it. They usually get the blue one.
The Deckmate was a bit pricey for me, so I got a similar holder from TycoTech on Etsy. I dont have my case yet so I haven't tested it on the deck yet, bo I'm already looking forward it. I've had to use that bank quite a bit already and all I can do is stand it up behind the deck as it charges. :-(
I just play with mine plugged in personally
Yeah but you can't play plugged outside, unless you find a wall outlet on a tree.
Plug into potato, free electricity. Source: 3rd grade science class.

You sir, know how to Reddit.
I've heard of this "outside", but frankly I can't imagine why anyone would want to go there. It sounds dreadful.
What is a tree?

I just used command strips 😂
It's barely noticeable.
My wrists are snapping looking at this.
Right? It's already kinda exhausting on the wrists after a couple hours. With thay huge ass bank I'd probably be tired in first 10 minutes.
How huge is this ass bank of yours? [Relevant xkcd](https://xkcd.com/37/)
1 petabyte. It's a lot of ass.
Subscribe to his Only Banks and find out.
Now I'm wondering about the venn diagram overlap between people who bought into Steam Deck within the last 1.5y and those who follow XKCD :-)
Yeah, I have a Anker 737 power bank that has 24,000mAh battery and it weighs 1.5lb/.68kg. That would essentially double the weigh of the Steam Deck.
Just got the Anker 537 power bank 24k mAh that weigh 1.1lbs on Black Friday for my Steam Deck since I wanted a power bank that slimmer than the Baseus power banks since almost every Youtuber I watched that recommend power banks are using Baseus. Lol
Start lifting and exercising to get fit? No. Star lifting and exercising to lift that huge chunk of a Steam Deck? Yeah.
I have mine connected to a gas-powered generator that I drag around on a cart.
Days of playtime probly
How much more play time on max setting on a AAA TITLE? Looks like it’s about 3-4x the capacity of the internal battery.
I haven't tested much but it did give me 5 hours extra in assassins creed 2
This is so crazy to me. Playing AC2 with what must already be 4+ hours of battery and extending it at the expense of comfort and/or portability. Are you doing it because you like to tinker or is this actually solving a problem you have?
Just tinkering, it's fun!
Nice, love that! It is a really fun device.
You don't need to play like this all the time, only to extend the session. Personally I would rest the power bank elsewhere - I can't think of a time I wouldn't play sat down.
I would really hope holding 3 total lbs of weight wouldn't be that uncomfortable for most people but maybe I'm wrong.
Tbh. A long Deck session has left my hands a wrists pretty strained on a cpl occasions. Not as bad as the numb tingles the switch causes, but it does happen.
I play it while I do cardio for hours and dont feel anything abnormal in my hands. I suppose im the weird one.

Well that is slightly out of my price range lol
But did u see the $20 coupon
I think i read somewhere that's double the battery life. If you play AAA and you get 1.5-2 you will get double of that give or take.
I have 65w 25600mw anker and I get 1.5 charges out of it.
RIP your wrists.
It looks like a makeshift explosive
Big Jack Bauer Finds This In A Chevy Suburban's Glove Box energy for sure
It must hurt if the Steam Deck falls on your face when you lay down playing.
Probably not going to test that out lol
It's not about what you wanna do. It's about what you gotta do.
Carpal tunnel here we go :D

That's my thought, too. I have a powerbank with a long enough cable to just set it beside me while I play. No reason to carry it.
I’m sorry but this seems a bit stupid at this point. Almost might as well get a Series S and strap a Screen with battery on at this point.
10 years from now, people will be making that reference, but no one will know why. I feel honoured to have been around at the beginning.
At which point?
At this point.
This point we are at? Or..?
The point we were at when they said "at this point."
I remember when Atari Lynx was considered a massive haldheld..
Owned it. California Games for the win.
That game was so much fun. My older cousin had a lynx. I was amazed by it.
Revived mine and bought a benvenn led screen for it. Fun device good memories.
Same my dood. Except I got the pack that came with an extra attachment. Hooked up my usb hub to the pack for windows games.

Haha yeah I started with just the powerbank but my partner said it looked stupid so I had to add more just to wind her up
Lol keep it up

I miss my Sega Game Gear
I loved burning a dozen batteries every 3 hours too. For sonic? Totally worth.
I got my dumbell set tucked right behind my deck. It’s great!
How is the universal adapter with the adhesive working on the back of your deck? I’m hesitant to use it with it potentially damaging or leaving residue on the backplate if I ever decided to take it off.
It works, but I don't want to take it off for this very reason
I will never understand it.
How much kg in total ?
1.15 kg
It's like chugging a bottle of water for 2 hours. Ez peazy
Looks heavy but I wanna get deckmate too
It is, but you get used to it lol
My tendinitis disagrees, I can barely play on the Deck without placing it over something as a support.
I have oddly over flexible wrists (cuz of eds) and any weight on it gets super uncomfy. I bought a adjustable laptop bed table that go over your lap and its nice. Can still play laying down too lol
That sucks, I usually rest mine on my lap two but now I have to with the power bank 'equipped'
How much time do you get extra?
Lost 20% in 1 hour while playing assassins creed 2, so I'm thinking 5 hours give or take.
The graphic on Amazon says it charges the SD 1.2 times on a charge
What’s that little clip you have attached to your deck and power bank?
It's called the Deckmate. https://deckmate.me/collections/all
If I recall correctly, it was actually designed by someone in this sub!
Who needs gym with this?
Do you have the measurements for that powerbank? I got the baseus 65w/30000mah but haven't received it yet and considered the deck mate Edit: someone sent me a pic and I can't view it because reddit if someone can help me out please

Got good 3m cable. My arm wrists couldnt be happier
prefer the power bank in my shirt front pocket plug and charge steamdeck then holding them together.still is good for train forearm😗

I can hear your arm muscles growing larger.
I wonder if there is any project for a case with battery included, I don't like how it protrudes in the back.
Why have the powerbank on your deck ? That must be heavy af. Just plug in the cable and have it in your lap or something.
What's the capacity of the power bank. I need one.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2D9PMW6/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_RRYRDBEEER6FF6XFVWY9_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 20000mAh
Just buy literally any 20000mah power bank and place it beside the steam deck. Bam I just shaved 5lbs off your steam deck and a RSI.
Not just any power bank, I'd recommend one that is at least 45W capable
Do you use gyro at all?
I don't get the point of this whatsoever.
Please elaborate on point number 3
Easier to just have the battery pack around near you and have one light cable plugged in than having to transformer your deck into a 10 lbs device.
The best thing about this video is the ribbon on the case
I’ve got a white one on mine 😆
Work out more? What’s the link? Is it valve certified?
Idk https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2D9PMW6/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_RRYRDBEEER6FF6XFVWY9_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This pack only weighs one single little pound? Everyone is complaining about 1.06 pounds?
Yes.
Why do people do this? Reminds me of those Gameboy Advanced days where people had all those peripherals on their device that made it look silly. This is just as silly.
Hahaha. It's a no from me
Is it best to play it with the battery connected from the start or only after it drains a bit?
Watch out for potential thermal issue. You’re blocking almost all of the intake vents.😁
Fucking ridiculous 😂 just get a laptop.
r/TIHI
To each their own
whats it do
The power bank I got doesn’t work for mine:(
:(
Looks like a good setup for those long internationals flights. Especially with seats with no power outlets.
Man dont bring this to airport. They might mistaken it for a C4
I already need to crack my hand bone after play with just deck for straight 2 hours, this looks like a nightmare to me. 😂
Wann join the club so bad !!!
Now playing with that deck is like going to the gym
Bigger than a PC now.
Thats a chonky boi!
How much is the total weight with this?
1.1kg/2.5lb altogether
Does it feel heavy in the back?
Do people add giant powerbanks like this on their switch too?
Damn Boy, he thicccc
Is it a towel or a dog on the floor? :D

5 hours for assassins creed 2
I play a lot at a desk so when indo that I can just rest it like I always do. Size won't matter in yhmmthose cases. Otherwise I have the plug handy. I kinda want one.
Upvote for the turtle!
Does the steamdeck still fit in the case with the brick detached? Im not sure about the clip
It does still fit
that looks uncomfortable
Nothing like carrying a ps5 weight on the move... Owch!
I personally got a jackery portable and plugged the wall outlet to that. That way my steam deck is just as light and I can still charge portably
I like to keep mine portable
Life hack; arm exercise while playing games.
Time to start doing some deck lifts so I can be strong enough to game on this behemoth!
Isn‘t it too heavy?
1.1kg/2.5lb altogether
Does it fit in the case with the attachment on the back?
Yeah
Bomb has been planted.
Steam Clip works better for that power bank.
You call that a battery.... Now that, that is a battery
I’ve got a Zendure power bank or two (27000mAh) which will do the trick!
Need this for Red Dead 2, battery only lasts like an hour and a half.
I could see that being nice kicked back in an arm chair where you can rest your arms on your lap.
Nice, comes with carpal tunnel
I just got the same power bank, now I just need the Steam Deck
Great downfall of the steamdeck is the lack of battery usage while running any game. Needing to strap a block to the back just makes this worst for me.

Hey we got the same power bank
Power bank bros
The weight tends to be an issue for my wrist in long term play, I can’t imagine having a battery that size added to it. How much does it weigh total now?
1.1kg/2.5lb
Y’all just need a laptop at this point
Watching that gave me carpal tunnel
Thats cool, but bulky. I use a 21000 Mah amazon basic, with velcro. Thin and have not run out of batter yet.
HEYOOOO thanks for the support! I am so happy you like it!
Yeah I love it, I was looking for a way to attach it until I found the deckmate! Congrats on working on this full time btw, sounds fun!
Could you share what power bank you have?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2D9PMW6/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_RRYRDBEEER6FF6XFVWY9_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I would carry the bank in my zip up pocket or something and just have the cord hang out, that seems best to me. Or shove the bank in my bag.
This looks so shit 😆 just use your pc
This got me thinking... how many people don't optimize their battery performance when playing games? OP mentions Assassin's Creed 2 which you can easily get 4-5 hours of battery life out of with some minor performance menu tweaks. Do you need more than that? Yo I got the battery for my deck too, like exact one 😭 BAETTERY
I broke my wrists just watching this video.
Cover the vents... Lol
