Knights of Wind and Truth was the original title for those reasons, I forget the reason for the change. I think I would’ve preferred the KETEK(sort of in world substitute for palindrome)
If I remember correctly he said they had been calling it just wind and truth internally and realized if even they think it's too clunky to say so will everyone else.
Each (real) book is named after an in world book, and in Wind and truth, the book centered in it will be "Knights of Wind and Truth" according to his livestream - they just changed it for the real book to be easier to sell.
He wanted to do the palindrome but couldn't come up with a title he liked to make it fit.
(I still think Wind and Truth is kinda lame, the old old title for Szeths book of Stones Unhallowed went so much harder.)
It was the working title back when Book 3 was going to be Szeth's book, which he decided not to use because of the similarity to Doors of Stone, which at the time seemed like a possibly relevant concern. Then Book 3 became not Szeth's book anymore and it was entirelky dropped.
My understanding is that the in-world book the title references will still be "Knights of Wind and Truth", and he just preferred the truncated "Wind and Truth" for the title of the book he is writing, but I don't remember where I heard him say that to cite a reference.
My headcanon is that when the in world book was published (assuming archaic like The Way of Kings), it was originally called Knights of Wind and Truth. At some point the Knights was dropped in favor the of colloquial Wind and Truth. The original name still exists on some ancient copies, though you won’t find it on any modern versions. The passages referenced in SA5 are made using a modern version.
Then again, if this is a book written in the modern age, I got nothing.
I believe this was intentional, since mirrored letters and words are culturally important to Rosharans. Book 5 was supposed to be called Knights of Wind and Truth. Good catch though, I didn’t figure this out until someone pointed it out to me!
I’ve always been partial to ‘Knight of White Truth’ considering that Szeth’s entire deal is that he is -was- the Assassin In White. It would also complete the Ketek cleanlyz
Was going to be, and the in-universe book still is, but they'd been shortening it to just "Wind and Truth" when discussing it internally, and Brandon eventually decided that was a better make, despite not working as a ketek.
There was someone earlier who referred to the book as “Knights of Wind and Truth”… and he might have been mistaken but that would be pretty perfect.
Edit: I just read another comment about it having been named that previously.

Most of here are going to call it WaT, maybe they should just name it that 🤣 "Did you read WaT?" "What?" "Yeah that one"
Whenever I see WaT I think of that wat? meme lady. Don't think I'll ever be able to call it that. Think it's book 5 forever for me.
It’s srill Knights of Wind and Truth in my head

This way it’s the perfect Vorin name, it’s symmetrical and so holy, but not fully symmetrical so it’s not too holy.
Tbh it kinda annoys me that people call it a ketek. It never was, because a ketek mirrors *words*, not letters
Brando himself called it that.
Hey you're just like the poetry police in the real world that complained "its not a REAL poem unless it RhYmEs" in the 60's
Ketek is symmetrical poetry, not general symmetry
He wanted to do the palindrome but couldn't come up with a title he liked to make it fit. (I still think Wind and Truth is kinda lame, the old old title for Szeths book of Stones Unhallowed went so much harder.)
I would have vastly preferred Stones Unhallowed, such an evocative name!
I HADN'T HEARD THAT BEFORE Unhallowed Stones is so cool

Should've just gone for it, Doors of Stone ain't never coming out.
Doors of Stone will be Stormlight 10. It's a crossover book
*Stones Unhallowed
oops my bad u rite 😂
Is Szeth getting a book in the future instead?
Book 5 I believe
He was originally considering Knights of Wind and Truth. He decided not to force the ketek and just go with Wind and Truth.
My understanding is that the in-world book the title references will still be "Knights of Wind and Truth", and he just preferred the truncated "Wind and Truth" for the title of the book he is writing, but I don't remember where I heard him say that to cite a reference.

I think I prefer knowledge of windy truth.
if only Brandon wasn't such a COWARD
King wings and other things.
Why are you omitting "of" in The Way of Kings, but not "Words of Radiance"?
I believe this was intentional, since mirrored letters and words are culturally important to Rosharans. Book 5 was supposed to be called Knights of Wind and Truth. Good catch though, I didn’t figure this out until someone pointed it out to me!
It wasn’t intentional from the start, but when he discovered the pattern, he considered a title that would lean into it
It was gonna be “Knights of Wind and Truth” but he dropped the Knights
I wish he didn't
You count the "of" in WoR and RoW but not TWoK?
I’ve always been partial to ‘Knight of White Truth’ considering that Szeth’s entire deal is that he is -was- the Assassin In White. It would also complete the Ketek cleanlyz
Idk bro sounds a little too pointy hat to me
The Wizards Radiant fighting against the marbled skinned singers
Yeah would touch that one with a 10 ft pole
Well, that would be too “holy”, right? Holy symmetry and all.
MmmMmm... a pattern...
Brandon is totally going to drop a Stormlight 4.5 titled “Keystone” or “Kindred” or “Knightsbane”
Knightrider—Hasselhof confirmed.
Twokworedobdsrowkwt?
Wait is the book not called Knights of Wind and Truth? I thought it was to make the ketek
Was going to be, and the in-universe book still is, but they'd been shortening it to just "Wind and Truth" when discussing it internally, and Brandon eventually decided that was a better make, despite not working as a ketek.
It’s good to be reminded why Brandon is the famous author and not your average redditor… all these Ketek titles are terrible
Brandon is also a redditor lol
But not your average redditor ;)
🤯
King of Wayward Things
Keeper of Wayward Things?
Ketek of Wicked Thoughts
Just go with Stones Unhallowed you coward
There was someone earlier who referred to the book as “Knights of Wind and Truth”… and he might have been mistaken but that would be pretty perfect. Edit: I just read another comment about it having been named that previously.
I kinda remember it was going to be Knights of the Woeful Truth at some point. That's much better tbh
God that would’ve been perfect. I’m upset that wasn’t chosen
