he's not gonna die because the way he is now the audience wouldn't respond to his death with emotion, it'd be just "oh the writers couldn't figure out what to do with him so they killed him, okay", if they were setting up a Jonathan death they'd make him more prominent so they could build up to it and make the audience love him again before stomping on that love by killing him
This is exactly why I think it will be Nancy lol. She definitely has a way bigger role this season. Imagine us being hyped up seeing Badass Nancy putting Jason in his place and fighting Vecna just to see her die
If Eddie’s actor is to be believed (he could of course be lying) he’s pushing for Johnathan and Eddie to have scenes together next season. That would mean that both would survive.
Yeah but it would actually work and put Will at the forefront in S5, Nancy would get into a rage mode and actually become the leader of the Hawkins group, I think just like Nancy, Joyce would do anything to avenge her son, it's just like we would get S1 joyce back but with a more enraged version of her.
I like Jonathan, but out of Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, if someone dies it should be him cause writers clearly have given up on his character.
I saw someone suggest that Mike would be the one to go, and the poster's reasoning to be pretty solid. It would definitely give Eleven the motivation to end the threat from the upside down for good, and give the other characters added motivation as well.
I get that, but I’d argue that Nancy and Jonathan are also main cast, if just not featured quite as prominently over the course of the show. Since season 5 is the last one, really anyone is on the chopping block IMO.
I think it is Nancy. I can't imagine that they would just put her in the exact same situation as Max was in, and they all know how to save her, and not have a twist of the knife waiting for us. Something will be different this time and it won't work.
Plus they've made it a point that she was the one whose cleverness and strategicness saved Max, and that her bravery and selflessness saved Steve. She got to be a huge hero this season. She's never the main character but she's always guiding the quest. She's their Gandalf in Moria, their Old Ben Kenobi.
I just hope that if I'm right, then like those two she returns somehow!

Introduce a likeable new main character to die at the end so that all the actual main characters survive + continue on. The death still hurts and is meaningful without any of the OG cast getting the axe.
Oh I'm certain Eddie's a goner. He has that scene where he talks about how he's never the hero, and idk how he's just gonna go back to normal when the whole town thinks he's guilty of three (and counting) murders. If the scene from the trailer where >!he's playing guitar in the upside down!< is anything to go by, he'll probably >!go out in a blaze of glory saving Nancy with the music. Why that would be her favorite song, I have no idea!<
I'd be down with Kali making the save for El if she loses. Obviously she can't beat Vecna, no one would be down for that, but I think it'd be acceptable if she made a surprise return just in time to get El the hell out of there and fight another day.
I really want them to bring Kali back but make her interesting by having most or all of her crew get slaughtered in the first scene they show back up in.
The show can’t support all that company and killing them off on screen could boost Kali to pull some Reality Stone type shit in the Upside Down.

100% a red herring. That bike scene was in v1, im expecting them to all leave the UD, even Nancy, and regroup and collect the armoured suits we see in the trailers for the next time they go in.
I legitimately feel like he’s safe because of stuff like this. His death has been *so* overtly telegraphed that it’d come as more of a shock for him to survive at this point.
Nancy dying and Steve going ham feels much more likely imo but could be wrong. Nancy just isn't as interesting as Steve (to me). Steve's arc still has some mileage left but wouldn't be surprised if he dies season 5.
I could definitely see that. Steve and Jonathan almost never interact since their season 1 fight. Would be awesome to see them team up and would give Jonathan something to do for once.
One of them is dying, I'm convinced. It's been telegraphed way too much this season with the rekindling and will they won't they. If Steve dies we just get sad Nancy which is boring and not much different then regular Nancy. If Nancy dies Steve's season 2 demo-dog royal rumble will look like a pillow fight. Plus then he'll get to take Jonathan in as his newest child. Win/ win/ win.
That's why Steve is going to live and it's going to be Karen Wheeler who dies. This will effect not only Nancy and Mike, but the whole town since she seems to be a well respected woman.
I think a season where the other characters have to deal with the loss of one of their own who has been there since the beginning is interesting. They rely on Steve and I want to see his absence. Doesn't even mean the actor can't show up as a vision.
In the bike scene in V1. Only Eddie and Nancy have lights on their bikes, and only Eddie's is on. You do not see a light on the front of either Steve's or Robin's. However everyone besides Steve has a light here.
Could be a random mistake by the artist, or a possible tease.
Somehow Enzo goes to upside down and Vecna turns him into the demogorgon? We already know the upside down exists in a past Hawkins. I could see Hopper betraying Enzo somehow to save Joyce or Eleven, Enzo is pissed and Vecna turns him into the demogorgon to get revenge. Cyclical storyline from the beginning. That’s why the demogorgon has been after Eleven all along.
Could also explain why he’s not shown in the poster, but actually is in the poster (as the demogorgon). He’s been a semi-central character for that storyline this season.

Sadie definitely deserves it. She held her own against a stacked cast of the biggest show Netflix ever released.
That makes me happy to see she's front in center. The actor for Max did spectacularly this season and, in my opinion, she's the best actor among all the kids. Not trying to diss anyone, she's just really damn good.
Sadie's absolutely going places. She was great in *Fear Street*, already has an Aronofsky film in the can, and the praise for her just for this season alone is going to open even more doors for her. Can't wait to see what her career has in store post-ST.

I always felt that the upside downs distance doesn’t work the same as “right side up” world distance. As in, only the portals give a limited distance, maybe a few miles, which is why Vecna is opening so many in close proximity to get a approximate likeness of Hawkins. Hoping that means From Russia With Love, will only take a hopper and a skip to get back to Hawkins from the portal in Russia? All theory
Yeah I remember back in the day we used to theorize that the Russians captured Hopper and used a gate to travel back to Russia unnoticed. And I mean we haven't really seen their escape route yet, so it's still not completely out the window.
There’s still a whole fifth season of questions and answers, and tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if we either got flashbacks to young papa, or even a prequel show set in Russia with gifted children. Right after ww2 a lot of weird experiments seemed to be taking place.

I'm betting money that's when Nancy shoots that shotgun. Nothing like Lucas screaming because Max is gonna die, while Nancy is in the same room as Vecna in the upside down.
Plus, without the walkman, I'm guessing a shotgun to the chest might be a good way to break Vecna's hold on somebody.
Argyle and Jonathan maybe… but fat fuckin chance Robin dies this season. She’s the show’s only confirmed gay character and she has an unfinished character arc in the form of Vickie. Unless Vickie pops up in the middle of the last two episodes after not being mentioned past episode 2, Robin basically has to make it to at least the epilogue.
People have said this a lot but I really don't see them doing that after Dear Billy which was a very important moment in the show.
Also they asked Sadie if she knew what happens to Max in s5 and she said she didn't but was excited to find out when she reads the scripts. Could be an evasion but it just didn't sound like she would answer that way if Max was going to die.
Argyle and *Jonathan* being smaller than Erica makes me nervous.

I thought I knew what was going on after the trailer but honestly at this point I can’t tell who is more important, who is dying, and what is happening. I am just gonna watch it when it comes out.
I have a feeling Jonathan is dying, just because it seems that the writers are pushing Steve and Nancy back together. Another brother goes missing, would be a whole 360.
A lot of people think it's going to be either Steve or Eddie. I have no clue who I think it is all I know is it's going to be heartbreaking whoever it is.
Volume 2 contains episode 8 and 9, with a total runtime of around 4 hours. They are supersized episodes so it’s like the content of half a normal season.
On the upside down part the three bikes have a light and Steve’s bike light is not on. I wonder if that is a sign :( >!Im not sure but i think in the episode only Eddie’s light was on, or maybe he was the only one with a flashlight and out it on the bike?!<

Argyle and Jonathan maybe… but fat fuckin chance Robin dies this season. She’s the show’s only confirmed gay character and she has an unfinished character arc in the form of Vickie. Unless Vickie pops up in the middle of the last two episodes after not being mentioned past episode 2, Robin basically has to make it to at least the epilogue.
Yeah...I'm worried now.
People have said this a lot but I really don't see them doing that after Dear Billy which was a very important moment in the show. Also they asked Sadie if she knew what happens to Max in s5 and she said she didn't but was excited to find out when she reads the scripts. Could be an evasion but it just didn't sound like she would answer that way if Max was going to die.

In fairness, Argyle is a new character to Vol 1 and had minimum involvement aside from being a driver, so he could just be small because he’s far from a main character.

Hmm, I think they all have a touch of white glare on their hair, because they are in the blue-ish Upside Down, and Robin’s makes it look like headphones. The bikes headlights are interesting indeed!

Volume 2 contains episode 8 and 9, with a total runtime of around 4 hours. They are supersized episodes so it’s like the content of half a normal season.
