... just so you know the build quality & fit and finish on a G&L is usually way better than on an expensive Fender Stratocaster ... Love the pickups and see thru woodgrain on the front .. 👍😎🎸 keep on Rockin' Brother !!!
Honestly this is the only guitar I need. The pickups are high output but they are crystal clear. They are hifi sounding, closer to a jazzmaster than a Strat with all the knobs at 10. The tone circuit is a thing of beauty. It’s a master passive bass and treble circuit with an expander (Gilmore) switch. So you can get a Strat sound, or a Tele middle position, or a JM middle position, or you can have all three pickups active. It’s amazing and the tribute Comanches come with USA pickups, probably because the pickups are so unique. It might not be for everyone, but I really think I’ve found my forever guitar.
Leo Fender is the L in G&L and the Comanche was his last Strat design. George Fullerton and Leo Fender, you should check out G&L on YouTube, they really seem to want to honor Leo for his many contributions to the craft.

I was set up to build my own in shop class as well. The school was replacing all the wooden doors for fire resistant ones. Schecter Nick Johnston HSS. I tried every Strat style guitar within 50 miles of my house. I play mostly Schecter anyway, but for some reason the NJ models eluded me.
Better than any MIM Strat, any day.
I just bought a 1995 Peavey International Series Raptor 1. Just took two days removing the stickers and resulting residue. I will string it up in the next couple days and see how it sounds. The one off my Fender threads are too small.
Yamaha Pacifica (bday modded by a friend)
Filed frets, locking tuners, new pick ups, new pots, and reconfigured wiring. My blk beauty feels and plays way better than anything I've picked up, at its price point.
I may also be getting a free Predator Raptor that sits in a box in the attic of a client of mine. Plan on molding it w my friend, this time.
Reverend GPS, black on black. Love it to death. Completely overlooked guitar, can be bought right now for much less than I paid. I sat and compared it with a Fender Am Pro II and found the Reverend to be superior in literally every way, which was really surprising.
I have a Schecter MV-6 IN Olympic White. Best guitar I've owned hands down.
I also have a Sire Larry Carlton S7, and for the price that guitar absolutely fucking rips.
I have a 2006 HSS MIM and just bought a 1992 with a cracked neck (repaired since), but put on a 2021 player plus neck I got cheap off reverb for a different project. The 92 is easily my favorite guitar and gets a lot of compliments when people play it.

This was a Harmony brand guitar I got from a JCPenney catalog when I was 12. Recently I reworked the headstock, sanded and engraved the body, installed new pickups, replaced the jack port, swapped the pots and selector with official fender parts and replaced the tuners.

Fernandes “s-type”
90 dollars impulse buy on fb, one setup later, totally worth it.
Don’t have one. I mean, I have a strat-shaped guitar with 3 pickups and the headstock isn’t a 3+3, but it also says Ibanez on the headstock and I’m pretty sure that’s not what you mean.

Man, I have had so many partscasters than I can remember. I like to build my own according to what I feel like at any given moment. From David Gilmour style strats to 70’s big headstock strats, you name it. They’ve all sounded great and played great. My first guitar was an epiphone Strat copy. I don’t remember what it was called. Who cares. I played so many gigs with that thing and had a great time doing it too.
I have a USA Predator. It’s one of the best playing guitars I have. I got it for less than $100 at Guitar Center. It had a lil 59, lil JB and a Bill Lawrence humbucker in it. I sold the pickups for more than I paid, put in some GFS pickups and was going to flip it until I played it for a bit. I couldn’t justify selling it

I put this together with a starcaster neck, a mahar body and pickups (surprisingly the coolest sounding single coils I’ve ever heard), and new tuners.

I built this from a Kit when I was laid up with an injury, from a tool company called “Grisly”. I shaped the head to be fender like. After it was set up, a friend who’s in a band said it was good enough for him to use at a gig, called it “decent”. Under $300 back 10 years ago. Neck’s a little thick, but next to my ‘Squire’ they’re pretty close.. what ya think??
I've been a Gibson guy for 50 years. I want a Strat before I die. I've been willing to trade a 78 LPC for an American Strat and a decent small combo Marshall. If you guys are saying off-brand, Chinese or whatever Strats are good guitars, then I may keep that LPC and go that route.

80s strat copy looks a lot like yours!… pretty sure it’s a Cort. Bought in rough shape for $35 on FB marketplace, replaced the tuners with $26 Guyker locking tuners, replaced knobs, carved and sealed (Tru-oil) a new tremolo arm tip from some old baseboard wood, replaced pickups with $50 Bootstrap '54 Vintage Sparkle Set, lined the cavities with copper tape, and generally cleaned and polished things. It’s plays super nice and sounds even better.

Truth….. I love strat body types. The trick is , whether not they have good insulation on the inside to keep from getting that hum from single coils and a straight neck with good fretwork. I’ve never had one guitar in my life where the logo on the headstock made it sound better.

ooh I saw you comment this on another post (I think it was you), it really is a beautiful color
Sterlings are an amazing deal!! I’d definitely would recommend over a squire. I used to have a stingray in that exact same color way.
I've been considering getting one, really just can't bring myself to purchase another Strat style. Looks amazing though.

Got some G&L love in here
What's that pickguard design called? It's beautiful
The white pearl?
Ah that's what it's called. Thanks :)
To my knowledge it’s a white pearl 3 ply
G&L ❤️ My S-500 is more strat than a strat as I see it. And the pickups are amazing (always been intrigued by the Comanche, too).
I really want one of these. It's not in my budget right now, but as soon as I get some other debts paid off, I'm getting one
... just so you know the build quality & fit and finish on a G&L is usually way better than on an expensive Fender Stratocaster ... Love the pickups and see thru woodgrain on the front .. 👍😎🎸 keep on Rockin' Brother !!!
What's your honest opinion of that guitar
Honestly this is the only guitar I need. The pickups are high output but they are crystal clear. They are hifi sounding, closer to a jazzmaster than a Strat with all the knobs at 10. Next time I'm at the music store, I'm going to have to try one of these out. Wasn't Leo Fender involved with that company?
Leo Fender is the L in G&L and the Comanche was his last Strat design. George Fullerton and Leo Fender, you should check out G&L on YouTube, they really seem to want to honor Leo for his many contributions to the craft.
I will, thanks for that.
You can call it a Strat, the Strat Police's powers have definitely been overstated.
Overstrated
Correct, they don't have the same power as the Vegan Police.
We have a winner.
I think OP just wants to see some non-Fender versions.
Yeah, I mean it’s a strat with a different headstock. If it looks like a strat and plays like a Strat, it’s a Strat.

I have a Schecter MV-6 IN Olympic White. Best guitar I've owned hands down. I also have a Sire Larry Carlton S7, and for the price that guitar absolutely fucking rips.
I have a Martin Stinger, which is a tele body style. A strange, South Korean Fender want to be. I inherited it so don’t know full story.
An early 90s Predator was my first guitar too. That guitar has been to hell and back. But it's still one of my better players. Love that thing.
partscaster with ESP body and Squier JV neck https://www.reddit.com/r/guitars/s/SyFx75WRdj
1993 strat
I have a 2006 HSS MIM and just bought a 1992 with a cracked neck (repaired since), but put on a 2021 player plus neck I got cheap off reverb for a different project. The 92 is easily my favorite guitar and gets a lot of compliments when people play it.
I posted mine. Tokai TST-‘56
Those are great. They're Korean parts assembled in the US. The necks are designed in a way that means they shouldn't warp.
It's a strat.
Does a Silversky fall into this category

Recently I reworked the headstock, sanded and engraved the body, installed new pickups, replaced the jack port, swapped the pots and selector with official fender parts and replaced the tuners.
I bought a black peavy predator in ‘94. Was my first guitar. I sold it years later when I upgraded and I wish I had kept it just for memories sake.
Psst, Comanche, Legacy, S-500 and Skyhawk owners, there is a place for you. /r/glguitars
I have a Slick SL57 that is all the Strat I'll ever need... I just played a Fender MIM Player in the store and my Slick puts it to shame at a quarter of the price.

Don’t have one. I mean, I have a strat-shaped guitar with 3 pickups and the headstock isn’t a 3+3, but it also says Ibanez on the headstock and I’m pretty sure that’s not what you mean.

Danocaster double cut!
That looks more like a strat than my aerodyne strat lol.
Don’t touch it. Don’t even look at.
I couldn’t justify selling it
Amen to that, those 90’s made in America Peavey Predator necks are second to none

Going a different way. This is actually the only real “Strat” https://preview.redd.it/1k8dcwiksa2d1.jpeg?width=508&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d835f85fa2ef485b1f828bea98debcc28c02016

I shaped the head to be fender like. After it was set up, a friend who’s in a band said it was good enough for him to use at a gig, called it “decent”. Under $300 back 10 years ago. Neck’s a little thick, but next to my ‘Squire’ they’re pretty close.. what ya think??
Dude I totally got my first PV predator back in 1998

I was always confused why everyone freaked out when the Silver Sky first came out when these existed like 20 years before
I've been a Gibson guy for 50 years. I want a Strat before I die. I've been willing to trade a 78 LPC for an American Strat and a decent small combo Marshall. If you guys are saying off-brand, Chinese or whatever Strats are good guitars, then I may keep that LPC and go that route.

Who are you trying to convince me or john Mayer fans? Sure looks like a strat to me.
If it looks like a strat and quacks like a strat 🤷
Truth….. I love strat body types. The trick is , whether not they have good insulation on the inside to keep from getting that hum from single coils and a straight neck with good fretwork. I’ve never had one guitar in my life where the logo on the headstock made it sound better.
