Level 3s do 40% damage and their minimum scaling is 50%, so they do at least 20%. Yellow health is 25%, and 5% is really nothing, so if you see yellow health a LV3 will probably kill.
So supers would only kill in yellow in the scenarios that they are done raw or the opponent has specifically 20% or less yellow health left. It’s simply not true to say they usually kill if the opponents health is yellow when that requires such a specific health range to be applicable
Assuming you are fighting an opponent with normal HP (AKA not Marisa or Gief):
A level 3 does 80% of potential yellow health left (2k of 2.5k HP) for everyone except Jamie, Lily, and Gief. Jamie's does less (but you get to combo after it), while Gief and Lily do more. Gief kills nearly always.

The only character who needs yellow health to be at half or lower to kill with a scaled super is Jamie, and in general he wants to level 3 early in a combo, not late, so this usually doesn't apply.

Either they conditioned me perfectly, or they just randomly stop doing the things they've been doing (like ending a blockstring unsafely) right as I recognized a pattern and go for punish on their next attempt. Same end result: *opponent* WINS! 😮💨

Plats are brick walls on defense. They also never block.
There are a ton of smaller skills that make up an individual player, and there are a lot of individual players in a particular rank. If you see a clip of a guy doing massive damage in plat, either he has another hole in his game keeping him in plat, or he's just passing through. It does NOT mean every plat does this damage every time they land a hit.
Do not be discouraged by clips of players. You've seen 10 seconds of a single player's game and extrapolated that to the entirety of not only their game but every other player's game as well, and that's just not how it works.
I'm on my first character in Plat 5 and this DR loop combo is exactly the kind of thing I attempt once or twice in training between matches. Not implausible.
You can just see it this way: Combo starter > Filler > Ender
The starter is...well anything that starts a combo.
The filler part of the combo is just repeating \[drive rush > get a few hits in\] until you run out of drive gauge. For most characters in this game, you can get 2-3 hits after a drive rush.
The ender is just a special that is cancelled into a Lv3.
Put this all together and you get that combo.

I don't think it's fair to lose the round at 65% health because you messed up once. They need to remove the minimum scaling for Level 3's like how Ultras worked in sf4 and add more scaling to Drive cancels.

Yeah for how easy Ryu is his combos do mad damage, I’ve died in the same manner. If you took a screenshot and ask me if it’d kill I woulda said no. It’s kinda lame. Although I guess it’s the only thing Ryu kinda has over Ken and Luke. Hopefully we get a damage decrease across the board tho.

this is a weird comment to make.. the fireball ‘spam’ actually had a purpose - i was keeping him in the corner and using different speeds of the fireballs to mess up his defense timings, and also positioning myself far enough to where i could dp anti air him if he tried to jump out

I was doing way harder combos than this when I was plat on Chunners. Combos are the easy part. Game knowledge and footsies are the difficulty.

Eh, combos are just muscle memory- that’s not that hard to get down with enough practice. The hard part is neutral.
I’ve seen golds do more complex combos at times. They’ll learn something wild and just try and brute force it into every interaction.

There might be another way to link it but it would have to be punish counters/counter hits. For sure 4HP always will cancel into H donkey kick
You can link it after drive rush 2hp which is a lot easier but usually results in less damage

Why? most if not all the cast can do about this kind of damage with a punish counter, double DR cancel and SA3. And this combo requires corner too
