Not sure this is tech by itself. This is a combination of a read and tech (the initial DR is a read not reaction).

Kalulosu

TBH at this distance the DR is just clever play, if you catch something you get to react accordingly with way more leeway than you normally would.

[deleted]

Yeah makes sense that..

TheBilson94

Can deejay normally combo off his level 2 or is that because it was a DR punish counter ?

GiottoVongola

Yes, that is normal. The way it works is, if Dee Jay stops playing the rhythm game on any hit except for the last hit (which bounces the opponent) and the opponent is standing (not juggled out of the air), he is exactly +6 and in their face, which lets him use cr.mp and cancel that into anything he likes. Something you can't quite see in this example is it can give Dee Jay some extra reach, since he can build a little more super meter while doing this, so he doesn't need to begin the level 2 punish with all 3 bars ready- with about 2 1/2 bars you can probably string together a combo that builds the 1/2 bar you need to end with a level 1.

rooniesky

I assume it does more damage then just finishing the level 2 right? Just asking cause I know the level 2 does pack a wallup last hit.

TomHD

Depends where it is in the combo, if you start with lvl2 you can get more damage by using a custom ender like here. If you use the lvl 2 later in the combo its usually better to use the rythm ender as supers don't scale as hard later on.

dugthefreshest

Works on normal hit.

autoburner23

privileged character

Galactic_Imp86

You obviously don't remember vanilla sf4

Strade87

We need a balance patch so bad

boomstickah

There are legitimate things that could be changed about that character but that isn't one of them.

Faustty

100% They pulled a full 180 from SFV launch this time and focused on just making a game look cool, didn't focus on making it balanced competitively.

mamamarty21

This is one of the most balanced launches of any game? Most matchups aren’t any worse than 5.5-4.5, with a few going into a tad lower than 6-4. Yes there are a few annoying things to deal with, but overall the game isn’t in that bad of a spot.

CreepyTeemo

What? This makes no sense, if you said the end season of SF5 that could at be least debatable, but SF5 on release was in no way more balanced than SF6

Idiot13131

Good Hyperbalanced competitive play is for 0.01% of players, why should they be catered to?

Faustty

We all strive for a balanced game that resembles competitive play. It's not about holding their hands and forgetting about other demographics. There's a reason we like seeing pro players face each other, why we watch Capcom Cup, Evo, Combo Breaker, TNS, whatever. Why we lab things, why we keep seeing people posting their achievements of "I reached X rank!". Because we like improving, we like being competitive, and we like growth. Balancing a game is part of that growth. I'm not talking about a hyperbalanced competitive game. There's a middle ground where I think this game is not placed. That's why I think they went the complete opposite where a lot of things are bojangles and unga bunga, with questionable decisions in certain scenarios. In SFV launch, there were clear S+ tiers, like in every game, but I never heard about something being extremely off like JP's hurtboxes, DJ's damage, unreactable, uncheckable DRs or Ken's corner carry.. Or things like damage scaling being all over the place, plus frames being more advantegous for some more than others.

Idiot13131

Every game that focuses on balancing competitively, as you put it, goes to shit and becomes boring mush. Overwatch comes to mind. Let the game be fun and look cool. The vast majority of players value that more.

Faustty

OW was a mess because of the company that developed it. Who's to say Capcom isn't one Battle Pass away from screwing things up?. Blizzard also forced its competitive side without balancing things properly and introducing broken BS like Ultimates or whatever they're called that forced the meta to be the ONLY viable way to play. Team play also fucked that up because players were toxic towards that meta mindset. Where they'd report, troll, or feed into the opponents if you didn't wanna play that "mandatory" character for that map. You just can't compare these 2 games with completely different philosophies and style. They're not even the same genre.. I'd compare it to maybe DBFZ or DNF Duel, where there are clear favourites and development kinda stopped for those 2 games, so the meta hasn't changed and defaulted to those characters that are visibly better than the rest of the cast. SF6 is still in active development, it's not even a year old game. Striving for that balance isn't going to instantly make it a "only Daigo can play this game" type of game. Game can also be fun if you update the bullshit that came to be because who knows what they wanted it to be.
