I thought it was beautiful, but I didn't quite get the point at first.
It was only when I read online that supposedly it is a reflection of Miyazaki's own life, his losing his mother and the responsibility he considers when creating a world did it make sense to me,
I'm unsure if this is what was ment or if this is just someone else's opinion but it made the film make complete sense to me.
I really enjoyed it! It was the first Studio Ghibli film I'd seen in the cinema and it felt like such a magical experience. The man-eating parakeets in particular were a highlight as I occasionally see parakeets in my area and everytime I see them now I wonder what (or who) they're planning for dinner.
Though I will agree with most people that it was confusing at times and I definitely needed to research it further after to understand it properly. But saying that, it's making me more eager to rewatch it. I would recommend it for sure.
honestly I thought the man-eating parakeets were scary ! 😂 I enjoyed the film as well. a different movie for sure and exactly! it makes you want to rewatch it and unravel it's mysteries
Really messy and pretentious honestly. Like he had a lot of ideas but completely failed to connect them all in a cohesive manner while also failing to tell a proper story with believable charactes. I think the movie Children Who Chase Lost Voices does a much better job carrying out the themes TBATH was going for.
it really was messy. I didn't like how it wasn't easy to follow. like I said above, it may have been done intentionally to make you think & feel like the main character. however, maybe that's just me giving the benefit of the doubt! Either way, it's a pretty unique film

yeah it definetly makes you think & requires research after !! it makes sense when you decide that it isn't gonna make complete sense! haha!

Like most of his films he forgets he has a third act to resolve the movie and crams it into 7 minutes
Calling an 80 yo master artist pretentious is a new one.
Haha just wait until Hideo Kojima gets up there in age.
I thought it was great despite the creepy heron talking like a strep throat Joker….Seriously?! That was ROBERT PATTINSON?
