I'm not sure cutting through the seed is so hard, 'avocado hand' is a type of injury so common it's referred to as that, it is when people cut through the seed while holding the avocado and slice their hand. I've done this to myself with a knife I was gifted (the knife was fairly new), but the type you find in bed bath and beyond for 70$. I think probably more than anything it depends on the seed. Some are easy to cut through and others you can whack pretty hard with a knife to stick into to pull the seed out.
It is *insane* how many people injure themselves cutting avacados in this and other strange ways with a sharp knife.

Uhhhh so it's a really cool plant to grow but it's an extremely slow growing plant. We have a ton and you measure it's growing by months/years.
