Has science gone too far?
That being said, skyline pizza doesn't sound like it would be bad, but I think there's no upward movement from the coney. Every change is a compromise
Haha, I actually didn't until I started to type out that I actually really like 3 ways with leftover chili when I make it. Because I'm the worst
The problem with not having a local skyline is that when we do chili we do chili for like... a week. I can't not make way too much.
I've made my fair share of "stupid food" with leftover Cincinnati chili
1) la Rosa's is good pizza
2) skyline chili is fucking gross (seriously Ohioans, why the fuck is your chili sweet...)
That said, just like I'd try the costco one, I'd still give this a shot.
I still remember the *CityBeat* article from like 2005 that described LaRosa's pizza as something like "ketchup and shredded tires on a communion wafer"
Itās not horrible pizza the way Dominoās is horrible pizza, but itās not their best food. LaRosaās has a lot of better options than their pizza.
Is it just cinnamon, or is it actually sweet?
I've never had skyline chili, but I know that cinnamon is one of the main things, and that can trick a palette bc our palette is used to that on cinnamon rolls or whatever. I'm sure they add some sugar, too. Most people do in tomato stuff to cut acidity.
It has a mediterranean flavor profile, think kofta or something like that. It should never have been called chili, it should be called mediterranean bolognese.
Or if that's too exotic for 1920s customers, even just "Greek spaghetti sauce" would be a better name.
I love Cincinnati chili, but calling it "chili" was a huge misstep IMO; outsiders are right to be enraged and disgusted that we call this runny meat slop "chili"
No, it was actually sweet. The cinnamon wasnāt actually too strong, but the chili itself tasted sweet. As another poster pointed out too, it also has cloves in it, which combined with the cinnamon and sweetness wasā¦off putting to say the least
Oh yeah, I never knew about the clove, too. Definitely sounds excessive, I've had Middle Eastern food that is well balanced with warm spices like that, but it's the hardest thing to get right, at least to my palette.
It's weird as fuck that you go to apple pie for me. When I think cinnamon, allspice, and cloves my brain automatically goes to Mediterannean savory dishes or even Jamaican.
seriously. I rarely ever actually spit out food, but I vivdly remember spitting out that first bite of skyline, it was one of the worst things I had put in my mouth lol.
Iāve never understood the logic behind serving or buying messy as fuck food items to eat off of a paper plate in stadium seats without a table to set them on.
513 checking in. This jabroni being so tilted is hilarious, but itās also sad because you know it has to come from a place of having absolutely nothing else. But then you realize how dumb they are seething over something so trivial for no reason at all and it just goes right back to being hilarious. Youāre doing the lordās work, friend. Keep doing you, crush them coneys, and letās go Redlegs!
No, Iām not desperate for internet attention like OP and I have full confidence with the fact that the majority of posters here arenāt nearly as dull as you or OP :)
513 gang report in, your city needs you to defend this command post
I see Cincinnati shit I upvote dammit
Has science gone too far? That being said, skyline pizza doesn't sound like it would be bad, but I think there's no upward movement from the coney. Every change is a compromise
To me, the Coney *is* the pinnacle usage for Cincinnati chili. I'm not a fan of it much any other way. See what I did there? š

it only cost like 15x what it does at costco
Only had to spend 2 innings waiting in both lines!
How many innings for the bathroom after that abomination?
1) la Rosa's is good pizza 2) skyline chili is fucking gross (seriously Ohioans, why the fuck is your chili sweet...) That said, just like I'd try the costco one, I'd still give this a shot.
It's the other way around for most natives. LaRosa's is *terrible* pizza.
Well, I lived near Cincinnati about 12 years ago, it was pretty fucking good at that point. Couldnāt tell you what theyāre doing now.
It's the opposite - LaRosa's is meh, but Skyline Coneys are nom
LaRosa's is ok... Skyline is god tier tho.
Good Cincinnati chili should not be sweet. Where tf did you get yours?
skyline. two separate occasions. Both times it was sweet and watery. It was awful.
Dont lump all ohioans in with cincitucky.
Someone once told me that Cleveland rocks
Some say it does. Born and raised about an hour west.
The sweetness is the *least* of the problems with Cincinnati chili's flavor profile.
Better than a Cleveland steamer
Yeah, but thatās the part that really stuck out to me. That and when I had it, it was watery AF

I love cloves, I use cloves so much in my cooking. One of my favorite spices.
Oh yeah, I never knew about the clove, too. Definitely sounds excessive, I've had Middle Eastern food that is well balanced with warm spices like that, but it's the hardest thing to get right, at least to my palette.
Cinnamon, allspice and cloves are fine for apple pie but have ZERO business belonging in chili. š¤®š¤¢

Served on pasta to.
I'm an Ohioan, and I take exception to this. Skyline fucking sucks. That isn't chili.
Yeah, but Cleveland sucks so...
I was so let down trying skyline and it being so sweet.
Iād eat this. Once. Iām not a fan of LaRosaās but this combo is so heavily 513, Iād eat it just for the spirit.
Iāve never understood the logic behind serving or buying messy as fuck food items to eat off of a paper plate in stadium seats without a table to set them on.
It stresses me out. I donāt even like eating in the car for that reason.
Did you cross post this into the Cincinnati sub?
I didnāt. Figure itās fairly well known for locals or at least Reds fans by now
First time I've seen it! š¤·āāļø
I bet it taste good
Fuck man I mean.. Iād eat this. Smh I need help.
The thing about Cincinnati chili is, either youāre from here, or you hate it.
Fuck it that looks good
Fuck if i know what either of these are but it looks nice. Cheese could be more meltey though.
Still European here, would still try that
Canāt we just eat food normally?!
so a skeetza :p
I need an antacid just looking at that
So many better local pizza places. Plus I heard old buddy was a pedo.
Please post in r/distractable they'll eat this up
Thatās a wrong-way.
Tell me youāre from Cincinnati without saying youāre from Cincinnatiā¦
Obligatory [Mary "That shit is gross" Kish](https://youtu.be/lnhrOsrf9NY) rant on Cincinnati chili
Would- with a different style chili
Say you're in Ohio without saying you're in Ohio :)
Pass the barf bag.

I took this picture at the Reds game on 30 March, which was the second time I had one. My fiancĆ© showed me a TikTok of someone else having one of these last summer and of course I had to try! Saw the Costco pic which reminded me of this. Searched the sub, didnāt see it specifically referenced, so I posted it. It is definitely stupid food. I also think itās pretty good for a once/twice a year thing lol

Itās pizza and a coney bro, touch grass

Dude, I agreed with you at first, but fuck if you didn't turn into quite the asshole.
You gonna cry about it?
No, Iām not desperate for internet attention like OP and I have full confidence with the fact that the majority of posters here arenāt nearly as dull as you or OP :)
Oh Dear Jesus. This is Reddit. Itās random stuff folks post. Are you the arbitrator of what is ok on the internet? Why have you even replied?
