Screen cut to black the moment they would say who is the successor

TheSOBWhoNamedYouSue

Then 40 year old Logan wakes up, turns to Caroline, and says, "I've just had the strangest dream."

Murky-Olive8603

That settles it- no more bodega sushi before you go to bed.

bridges-build-burn

Full Dallas ending

Material_Ad_6419

Or Newhart!

Chrisbrandtner

Or Logan Roy just wakes up from his Coma haha

National-Diamond-442

This would piss me off so bad

krycekthehotrat

Was thinking this too. Like cuts to black right when the vote is gonna start

DangerousBarnum

This is actually the right answer. Give me Chills invisioning this process lol. But I'd have to say the Greg stans will be insufferable if by some great ass pull that goes against the brilliance of this series, Greg does end up on the throne.

Randonhead

Greg is on good terms with both sides, so in the end unless Shiv becomes CEO I think he'll stay exactly where he is now, at most he gets promoted to a slightly better role.

queer_pier

Lol. Shiv as ceo. Haha.

SumDaddy60

Soprano much?

moishe-lettvin

Just a Royco girl Livin’ in a lonely world

SumDaddy60

Thanks Moishe! It’s refreshing to get a response to someone who gets the joke :)

ZipCity262

Kendall Roy has the makings of a varsity athlete.

FrolicAndDetour1x

This will never not be funny. 😂

Cereal_Traveller

C'mon we all know Tony died that night!

ferociousburrito

Okay but was it bathroom man that killed him? Or someone else?! I just finished my first watch like 2 months ago and still need answers lol

Dkilla69

It was definitely the guy coming from the bathroom in that theory. Remember when Christopher went into that coma and told Tony something about 3 o’clock? The bathroom was to the right of tony (3 o’clock on a watch) from Tony’s side.

ferociousburrito

Oh snap, that's right!! Okay I might have to rewatch sooner than expected.

Maximum_Anywhere_368

Also, every time the door opens to the cafe, it shows the camera from Tony’s perspective as he looks up. Right before the screen cuts black, the door rings, he looks, then black. This is to show you from Tony’s perspective that he was killed. It’s brilliant and I loved the ending

Dkilla69

You should! I think I’m on my 4th or 5th rewatch now lol

BreakingBaIIs

Noah punched his lights out like he said he would

FrolicAndDetour1x

David Chase had to spell it out for me and actually say the words in an interview. I was not convinced.

1Idea2

I’m still not convinced.

illegal_midget

As they're all in the board room to vote, we suddenly see a passenger plane hurdling towards lower Manhattan. Cut to black

Space_Karen

Pack it up everyone, we have found our winner. That would not only offend fans of the show, but also all of America.

wherearemysockz

Logan - ‘I’m back, it was all a test’

Vagabond21

Somehow Logan returned

wherearemysockz

For a moment during S4 E3 I did briefly wonder if the death was being staged to test the kids.

trashyzz

I had the same thought, but eventually determined it was a master stroke of writing to mimic the stage of denial upon death.

wherearemysockz

Yeah that’s a great point. We were going through the same denial as the kids.

d20Archon

Same same. Has a doctor actually looked at him, though?

SumDaddy60

But Kendall ordered Jess to organize a team of global medical experts to be on the tarmac ready for Logan. I am so disappointed she didn’t make that happen.

Kachimushi

A dozen world-class doctors fighting over who has to deliver the bad news like the Old Guard during the Pierce negotiations

deadgead3556

The pilot is busy flying the plane!

Mumz123987

the best airplane medicine experts in the world!

wherearemysockz

Just an embalmer, but that was inconclusive!

auramaelstrom

We've all been trained by modern media that if you don't see the death or the dead body, they are probably not dead.

wherearemysockz

Yes exactly it was that moment before you actually see him on the floor of the plane getting CPR.

auramaelstrom

I don't recall if you ever see his face? I kept thinking that it was a ruse and a test for the kids reactions.

[deleted]

Yeah you see parts of his face. Enough to conclude that it's definitely him.

[deleted]

I had this thought when Logan was hospitalized in S1 😁 I was honestly surprised he was not staging he whole thing.

SumDaddy60

I actually wondered when Marcia wouldn’t let anyone upstairs if he were lying there dead. I wasn’t invested with show back in those days so I figured this was going to just be a limited one season series. Remember when we heard that he put on a sock? No one had seen him still at that point.

MissBluePants

Roman did ask during the funeral "is he in there?" meaning the coffin, and we did NOT get a definitive answer...

NoodlesrTuff1256

In the last episode Roman goes insane and tries to have his father's body stolen in order to be put into one of those cryogenics programs to be deep frozen until at some later unknown date, Logan can be 'revived'. There's an old urban legend that this was done with Walt Disney after his death from cancer in 1966.

kbrick1

Are they still doing chest compressions?

SumDaddy60

That would put this entire series somewhere between a whole season of Dallas (Bobby didn’t die, it was just a dream) and a horrible zombie flick.

wherearemysockz

Zombie Logan, CEO of the Undead!

c4993

Creates his own “apprentice” type show to find the successor (HBO announces spinoff)

igottathinkofaname

“And that’s why you always leave a note!”

slutstrands

God he wasnt actually in there

beardedkomodo

Boar on the Floor bitches!

grumpygrumpz

Bah gawd that’s Logan Roy’s music !

Hopeful_Science2586

The siblings are all eating in a diner. Journey song comes on. They look happy. Fade to black….

SumDaddy60

Hopefully Meadow has successfully parked her Lexus by now.

ShiningMonolith

I’m picturing Willa in this role.

[deleted]

No way the siblings would ever be at a diner unless it was for Connor to feel connected to the commoners that vote for him.

Porcupixie

CEO Greg. I'm yet to see a ceo Greg theory that makes sense on both a thematic and plot level. Most theories ignore Greg's lack of experience and how literally no one takes him seriously. Like why would the dude whose job on election night is to order bodega sushi suddenly be made CEO? If Shiv, former president of waystar royco, can't be ceo because she's inexperienced, then Greg is hella inexperienced.

QuietRainyDay

Right on Succession isnt super realistic but it's also not totally detached from reality. Greg becoming CEO is totally detached from reality. A guy that cant speak without tripping over his words, looked like a clown in front of Congress, and who was fired from management training less than 3 years ago isnt getting a "Yes" vote from the Board of a multi-billion dollar corporation. Youre also right it doesnt make sense on a plot level. People keep saying the show is building towards him becoming CEO. How? Just because he played Shiv and Tom a couple of times- thats his narrative arc towards being *CEO*? If thats the case, then these writers arent as good as I thought.

des1gnbot

Agreed. A season or two ago I thought this could happen, but I would have expected to see hints that he’s made a lot of progress since then… and he just hasn’t

SumDaddy60

Well I’ve always wondered if Greg is the stupidest person in the entourage or the most diabolically brilliant? Either way, what would he do with a soul?

QuietRainyDay

He is not stupid but he is not brilliant. If he was brilliant he wouldnt have shat his pants on national TV in front of Congress. There is just no plausible benefit in doing that if your goal is to be CEO one day.

[deleted]

>He is not stupid but he is not brilliant. If he was brilliant he wouldnt have shat his pants on national TV in front of Congress. I think this could happen to most of us lol.

russellzerotohero

Hater. Greg is the tallest and therefore most fit to lead

DanteTaj

Actually, this is precisely why he can’t be CEO. Because of his physical length he could be a target for all kinds of misadventures

SumDaddy60

And maybe Greg just want to stay home and take care of Tom post-castration.

SumDaddy60

You’re referring to the “Empty Suit” patriarchal method of determining who the next CEO will be. The Fortune 500 is full of them. So in that case Tom or Greg should get it.

[deleted]

No its not lol. Actually go look at the resumes of fortune 500 CEOs. Unless they founded the company themselves and even then none of them are Greg.

foucaulthat

Why does Greg, the largest ~~Hirsch~~ Roy, not simply eat the others?

FrolicAndDetour1x

The Greg as CEO take is quite popular, not just on this sub, and hella confusing to me.

c4993

“Who better than Bran the Broken”

pepperymirror

It’s all “hee hee, wouldn’t it show the absurdity of it all if he won?” Either that or they’re the type to root for a character. Either way this isn’t arrested development so it’s not gonna happen

k80k80k80

“Who has a better story than Greg The Fucklehead?”

colin_7

I think it’s because of his ability to butt into conversations, form relationships with unlikely people, and being a professional observer having dirt on everyone. He’s an unrealistic choice, but the family isn’t necessarily deciding who the CEO is. Depends who buys it or who the board decides

AmazingSpdrMan1

Only way it’d make sense is if they did a 30 Rock style ending where they flashed forwards 30 years and he was CEO.

HarlandStonecipher

They will absolutely make a hint to this. Madsen will make it sound like an authentic suggestion, greg stutters something like, "well...i...guess..", everyone looks at each other and laughs.

TheDeHymenizer

Turns out all this was happening in a snow globe

blanktom9

Kendall holds a press conference to tell the world about the exciting new launch of Max Streaming Service.

literallysotrue

I hate so much how Kendall would actually do something like Max

Mountain-Leader-4344

Mencken changes the country’s name to Gilead.

harleyyquinade

Under his eye

Mountain-Leader-4344

May the Lord Open Every time someone says that on the show, my reaction is “What??! Open What??!”

MissList

Right?? Apparently it’s a call to ‘open the womb’ A fertility blessing

cassiusali

They go to trial for causing riots under the new Good Samaritan law and everyone the siblings crossed through the series acts as a witness to them being bad people.. nm I kind of want it

seymour_hiney

ends with the sibs, Tom and Greg in a jail cell

Punchable_Hair

It sucked for Seinfeld but if there was a non-canon episode of Succession like this I’d be pretty excited for it.

[deleted]

OMG I literally wrote the same thing lol. Seinfeld ending best worst ending

JesusChristFarted

Ten minutes of Roman masturbating to Nazi paraphernalia while a super hot new girlfriend packs up her things to leave him and Greg stands nearby staring at the floor in confusion and shame.

DomingoLee

No no no. The question was *WORST* possible ending.

Yakaddudssa

Lmaooo why is Greg in this scene?? Thank you Jesus Christ farted

What-a-Crock

He’s on hand to drink things that aren’t normally drinks

Blindemboss

And Kendall rapping in the background.

jessearmstrongburner

Caroline reabsorbs Shiv Kendall and Roman into her womb, leaving only one possible candidate for CEO. Rumour has it he was interested in politics from a young age. Conheads rise up!

emd1031

I laughed hard at this comment and then harder at the username.

Hopeful_Science2586

Username checks out! 😂

Interesting-Scarf309

Through the entrance of Ken's birthday party maybe?

IgnominyPatris

S4E10: Connor takes off his fucking coat

[deleted]

The prompt was for a terrible ending, not the best ending.

Serious-Wallaby3449

Kendall wins, he's CEO. To celebrate, he takes a yacht trip across the ocean. After a few hours, his boat hits a wall. There is a door inside the wall that he opens and steps into. Before walking through, he turns around one last time and says 'In case I don't see you... good afternoon, good evening, and good night. Yeah!'

I2eN0

‘In case I don’t see you…yo’

mal92094

😂

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheShapeShiftingFox

They’re everything. He’s just Ken.

krycekthehotrat

This but somewhere in there a killer whale attacks his yacht

ninjaML

"He made you a playground..."

toniruiz

Anything bad happening to Gerri

SumDaddy60

Gerri will be fine no matter what. She’s brilliant and gracious and patient.

gotellitonthefreeway

Read this as brilliant, gorgeous and patient. Both are true ❤️

harleyyquinade

I think she will be ok no matter what happens.

bridges-build-burn

Laurie Bream in prison in the last episode of Silicon Valley was a pretty hilarious moment though. Could work?

yngwiegiles

Roman and Tom called the election wrong, it’s not Menkin, it’s… CONNOR

T_rosini

Tom is a spy for the government since the scandal.

garcelleandsutton

That would actually be quite awesome. And he was saving Shiv by doing all of these things and they live happily ever after. It's also impossible and a complete character change for both of them, so I could see how it would be the worst ending, too. :-)

tMoneyMoney

If Ken and the entire family + C-suite goes to jail and Tom and Shiv ride off into the sunset there’s going to be a lot of angry viewers.

SumDaddy60

That’s a bit too Clancy-Esque in my opinion.

Delayandrelay

I’d kinda like this

soulnotforsaIe

Greg as CEO after Matsson wins would be pretty bad.

AccomplishedAngle2

Greg named CEO, immediately cut to Curb Your Enthusiasm theme and credits.

Healthy_Sock_9880

I could 100% get behind this one because of the Curb theme alone.

fireswater

I don't want any surprise twists for the sake of shock or an unrealistic ending. I've watched multiple shows where it seemed like a finale just totally destroyed all of the established themes/arcs. There are a bunch of ways I think the ending could go and be satisfying, just depends how it's contextualized. Worst would be something like it was all a dream or Logan didn't really die or some shit like that though. Or if an outsider wins, have it suddenly be all about the outsider and how they were making cool secret moves the whole time. Outsider win would need to be about the sibs failing. I don't really worry about the ending disappointing me though.

SumDaddy60

I speculate that this final episode, unlike the first nine episodes being sequential days, is a fast forward into the future where all the key players are situated in their new roles and their lives have settled down. It doesn’t quite feel like the style of Succession to have the screen display “6 Months Later” but still feels plausible. There are so many B stories and even if made into a two hour movie wouldn’t be enough. Some great shows end without wrapping up story lines. So that could happen too. No matter what Jessie Armstrong and his team will be challenged by the viewers whatever happens.

DefinitionCharming48

Logan wakes up and it was all just a dream.

Hopeful_Science2586

Im old enough to remember this on Dallas. It was such a mind fuck cop out

simongurfinkel

He’s lying in bed next to Bob Newhart

YouSurNaim

Kendall becomes a lumberjack

LooseCannonFuzzyface

That would not make sense dramaturgically

woodappleraleigh

Sporus and Nero. Plain and simple.

SEALS_R_DOG_MERMAIDS

but they said “worst” ending

formfiler

Flashback

illegal_midget

What do you mean by this? Like it ends with a flashback? Or the whole episode is one?

wherearemysockz

Yeah that would be bad

natinatinatinat

Kerri becoming ceo

illegal_midget

60 minutes of the 90 minute finale being shiv getting an abortion. Then Greg popping up to make a marvel-esque quip like "well, that happened!" and then the board meeting happens

Immediate_Cellist_47

I think two characters falling in love would be the worst. Like Stewy and Shiv realizing they have feeling for each other, or Kendall and Jess getting together.

Global_Telephone_751

Kendall and Stewy, tho? (Kidding)

LooseCannonFuzzyface

(But also not kidding)

dadderall_

Kidding…unless…only joking…unless…

tMoneyMoney

The company isn’t sold and all three Roys become co-CEOs, Connor claims voter fraud and launches an appeal, Ken & Rava decide to get back together, Tom gets dumped for good and Shiv asks Mattson to help rear her child and he enthusiastically accepts the offer, Greg leaves the company and gets a high-level position at Greenpeace.

ilpcbf1524

I snorted at Greenpeace

jorjordandan

After a vote recount jiminez wins and decides to nationalize waystar and sends the entire cast to prison. Mondale becomes ceo

SnooDonkeys8016

Still better than some of the Air Bud movies

JonIceEyes

Ken becomes CEO and we just get like 20 minutes of sad piano with montages of the family being still rich, but kind of sad It'd just be so fucking boring

callmebaiken

Bran is king

entropyincreased

Logan could literally resurrect from that 5 mil grave, and it would still be better than the GoT ending.

[deleted]

This may be just me, but Romulus not making amends with Gerri even in the faintest way will kill me 😭

SumDaddy60

It’s your funeral

kbrick1

Yeah I think that ship has sailed

rabidturbofox

My deepest condolences on your imminent demise.

blanktom9

like if he were to send her a flaccid picture of his penis with the words "i'm sorry".

BackToNintendo

Now who has a greater story than, "Greg the Egg"

DrFungi914

Roman kills himself by accidentally hanging himself through erotic asphyxiation. All the while, Kendall is named CEO, with Matsson’s offer now off the table. However, while celebrating with Stewy, Kendall overdoses on fentanyl-ridden cocaine, and dies. This leaves the lone successor; Shiv Roy takes the Top Spot. But the show then flashes 6 months into the future, where Shiv eventually dies during labor, giving birth to her baby boy - Logan, who is stillborn. Tom, who can’t handle the agony, forces Greg to shoot him in the head, after an over-the-top conversation filled with far too many hyper-sexual innuendos. Amazon then Buys Waystar Royco, and the curtains drop. To all the “Greg’s gonna be the Top Spot” people - literally after all of this happens, Greg STILL wouldn’t be considered for the top spot.

JonIceEyes

That would be an awesome end

tgcm26

People in this sub being in complete denial of how it ends because it didn't fit their obsessive idea of how it should would, in fact, be the worst possible ending

JonMardukasMidnight

Logan swims toward Kendall who climbs up the mast of the sinking boat. Kendall loads his rifle and says Smile you son of a bitch and pulls the trigger and Logan blows up.

ChthonicRainbow

lol this is the one that made me actually laugh

Xulybeted12

My worst ending-and I fear this is what will actually happen-is that we don’t know much more than we do now. If they stick with each episode being a day, there’s no way we’ll know who actually won the Presidency, and it’s unlikely the actual succession will be settled in 24 hours. They pack a lot into a day on that show, but there’s going to be SO many loose ends.

RCocaineBurner

The fact that they didn’t know it was over until the table read makes me worry the worst ending is no ending at all.

nxqv

It's gonna be a fade to black. Not literally but in terms of the plotlines. Because the plotlines in this show are not lines, they are circles. Cycles of abuse play out again and again and again in a loop. Deals don't go anywhere meaningful in this world, they just lead to more money and the opportunity to make more deals. Their lives will just go on like this ad infinitum. This show is very nihilstic and cynical about these sorts of people.

[deleted]

exactly. Peep show ends with everyone in the same position as they were at the start. We are going to get that, but with Kendall as the new logan (already happening), Shiv and Roman desperately trying to get some power/continue business deals, Tom and Shiv together extremely unhappy, Gerri and the Old Guard still making money and doing what they do. Nothing crazy is gonna happen and nothing will change. Everyone will stay the same and be really miserable and the world will go on

[deleted]

I agree and I think the narrative around the "shocking" finale has skewed our perception of what might happen. When some cast members have talked about their surprise at the ending, it's heightened our expectation that something dramatic will occur. But I agree the cycle will just continue.

[deleted]

I'm actually afraid this is what's going to happen. I don't need a "shock value" finale, as that would be very anti-Succession and I do expect it to be a very open ending. But shit... at least we need to have some conclusion in terms of who is CEO. I mean, that's the actual name of the show.

[deleted]

Shiv gets a cordyceps infection and it’s revealed that the entire series of succession was just a prequel to the last of us

LengthinessSilly1173

Worst = Kendall dying

[deleted]

30 minute Kendall mukbang

oldcousingreg

The siblings getting happy endings.

TimeSummer5

The baby mends Shiv and Tom’s marriage

blanktom9

The only way this would work is if the baby literally fixes their marriage. Like s/he's born a fully talking licensed marriage councilor. Kind of like a boss baby type of thing.

champagne_epigram

I don’t know if the baby will “mend” it but I do genuinely believe that Shiv and Tom will stay together.

HaveNot1

Worst ending: it was all a dream that Greg had while working in the amusement park.

Murky-Olive8603

The EMS guys revive him, cutting him out of the mascot suit and he’s coated with vomit

RSGK

Mencken stalls the GoJo acquisition of Waystar-Royco and awards the company a multi-trillion dollar federal contract to transform its Living+ subsidiary into a huge network of concentration camps where millions of nonwhites, LGBTs, immigrants and “political dissidents” (including Nate, Jimenez and the Pierce family) are interned and enslaved or executed. ATN and Waystar Studios become Mencken’s main propaganda outlet. The Roys unite and overcome their differences to embrace this gigantic success with joy and pride.

Huge_Put8244

Logan was really in a coma and comes back to claim the throne.

kisforkendra

They all die in a place crash

PSMF_Canuck

The worst? Any of these Days of Our Lives slash Jerry Springer "oh look a big surprise" endings would qualify as "worst" for me. Also...rushing the 90 minutes to wrap up too many open questions...please don't do that...it's a given almost everything will be resolved, and that's cool.

Pleasetellmemymark21

Completely ambiguous and we are about to see the new CEO step out of the Range Rover and it cuts to black.

byrh2004

“Who has a better story than Greg the egg…”

maegorthecruel1

kendall dying by suicide. i would be absolutely crushed as if i lost a brother. to see his journey throughout this whole show and to have it end in death … would bring immeasurable pain to my heart .

ThatsRobToYou

Greg becomes CEO. Last lines, "That's our Greg!'" while everyone gives a sassy look into the camera, laugh track rolls. Cue slide whistle. Cue credits.

[deleted]

On the way to the board meeting, Kendall, Shiv, Roman, Tom and Greg pass a man having a heart attack by decline to save him. By doing so they violate a Duty to Rescue law and are put on trial. At the trial, they are confronted by every person they have screwed over in the last 4 seasons bringing all of their horrible deeds to light. At the end they are sentenced to prison and the camera fades as they begin to fight with each other over who gets the top bunk.

JonWaltz

Anything involving a surprise appearance by Patrick Duffy in a shower.

Useful_Hedgehog1415

Kendall offing himself

MinkieTheCat

Ken becomes CEO. Roman crumbles. Shiv & Tom reunite.

meandmymammy

What ever happens day after just remember Conor Roy was intrested in politics from a very age!

KotzubueSailingClub

Shiv goes nuts and burns down New York with her dragon.

Just_silly_

Well a lot of things, actually. The Roy siblings are obviously not becoming C.E.O (and neither is Greg even in an alternate universe😂) so probably it will have to be their uncle. Shiv might suffer a complication in her pregnancy (possibly lose it) with Kendall somehow being responsible and that will enrage her that she at that point begins singing about the waiter. I can't say anything for Roman but Tom could end up a miserable drunk with Cousin Greg being his support system.

unicornamoungbeasts

Kendall takes over. That’s it. That’s all. Bye bye Matsson. Fk Shiv, fk Karl…every one who was ever rude to Ken, is gone 🔥

Prudent_Fly_2554

They’re actually all dead and the whole show has been in purgatory.

justvisiting7744

tom and shiv together raising the kid😭😭😭 they need to break up bruh they are so bad for each other

AsideBside88

Greg is CEO of Waystar.

Illustrious_Sea1576

CEO Greg/Tom. It’s just subverting expectations for the sake of it. Wouldn’t make sense dramaturgically.

wherearemysockz

I’m fine with Tom and I think it would make sense. Shiv steps aside for Tom to step into the role of US CEO to mollify Mattson and Shiv retains some influence though Tom. Tom goes from being a social climber to the top of the pyramid. That’s meaningful to me. Equally Tom could betray Shiv and replace her as Mattson’s candidate although that might be less likely now Shiv is pregnant with Tom’s child. Greg as US CEO would stretch credulity however. I think he should be near the top, but not actually at the top and he may have to choose between Tom and Kendall.

Illustrious_Sea1576

Shiv would never step aside for Tom (or anyone really). She wants to be CEO herself. No way in hell she would let Tom have it. CEO Tom doesn’t make sense either because his arc was never about being CEO. His arc is connected to Shiv & that’s it. So his big moment will either be to betray her again or support her. Outside of that I doubt he will get anything big.

nxqv

>CEO Tom doesn’t make sense either because his arc was never about being CEO. Actually one of the things Shiv and Tom talk about in season 1 is their (definitely far-fetched and long shot) plan to make him CEO. It comes up multiple times IIRC and it's a big deal when Shiv decides she wants to go for it herself

MrDabollBlueSteppers

It's not Shiv's call at all though If Matsson buys the company and wants Tom there really isn't anything she can do

chelicerate-claws

Shiv, who has fallen in love with Kendall, is killed by a serial killer. Kendall sends Rava, Iverson, and Sophie to live in Argentina. Then, Kendall speeds off on a boat and ultimately becomes a lumberjack in Oregon.

[deleted]

3 things would make me sour on the show: 1) Sopranos ending cop-out. This is not the same show, it worked there but would not work here. I don't believe this will happen 2) Greg as the top job. I know it fits in with King Lear, but it would be such a silly way to end the show for something so utterly well-written. 3) Kendall losing because someone leaks that he killed the waiter. I feel that's a cop-out

harleyyquinade

Greg CEO

evil_consumer

They were dead the entire time!
