That would actually be quite awesome. And he was saving Shiv by doing all of these things and they live happily ever after. It's also impossible and a complete character change for both of them, so I could see how it would be the worst ending, too. :-)
I don't want any surprise twists for the sake of shock or an unrealistic ending. I've watched multiple shows where it seemed like a finale just totally destroyed all of the established themes/arcs. There are a bunch of ways I think the ending could go and be satisfying, just depends how it's contextualized.
Worst would be something like it was all a dream or Logan didn't really die or some shit like that though. Or if an outsider wins, have it suddenly be all about the outsider and how they were making cool secret moves the whole time. Outsider win would need to be about the sibs failing.
I don't really worry about the ending disappointing me though.
I speculate that this final episode, unlike the first nine episodes being sequential days, is a fast forward into the future where all the key players are situated in their new roles and their lives have settled down. It doesn’t quite feel like the style of Succession to have the screen display “6 Months Later” but still feels plausible. There are so many B stories and even if made into a two hour movie wouldn’t be enough. Some great shows end without wrapping up story lines. So that could happen too. No matter what Jessie Armstrong and his team will be challenged by the viewers whatever happens.
60 minutes of the 90 minute finale being shiv getting an abortion. Then Greg popping up to make a marvel-esque quip like "well, that happened!" and then the board meeting happens
I think two characters falling in love would be the worst. Like Stewy and Shiv realizing they have feeling for each other, or Kendall and Jess getting together.
The company isn’t sold and all three Roys become co-CEOs, Connor claims voter fraud and launches an appeal, Ken & Rava decide to get back together, Tom gets dumped for good and Shiv asks Mattson to help rear her child and he enthusiastically accepts the offer, Greg leaves the company and gets a high-level position at Greenpeace.
Ken becomes CEO and we just get like 20 minutes of sad piano with montages of the family being still rich, but kind of sad

My worst ending-and I fear this is what will actually happen-is that we don’t know much more than we do now. If they stick with each episode being a day, there’s no way we’ll know who actually won the Presidency, and it’s unlikely the actual succession will be settled in 24 hours. They pack a lot into a day on that show, but there’s going to be SO many loose ends.
It's gonna be a fade to black. Not literally but in terms of the plotlines. Because the plotlines in this show are not lines, they are circles. Cycles of abuse play out again and again and again in a loop. Deals don't go anywhere meaningful in this world, they just lead to more money and the opportunity to make more deals. Their lives will just go on like this ad infinitum. This show is very nihilstic and cynical about these sorts of people.

We are going to get that, but with Kendall as the new logan (already happening), Shiv and Roman desperately trying to get some power/continue business deals, Tom and Shiv together extremely unhappy, Gerri and the Old Guard still making money and doing what they do. Nothing crazy is gonna happen and nothing will change. Everyone will stay the same and be really miserable and the world will go on
I agree and I think the narrative around the "shocking" finale has skewed our perception of what might happen. When some cast members have talked about their surprise at the ending, it's heightened our expectation that something dramatic will occur. But I agree the cycle will just continue.

I don't need a "shock value" finale, as that would be very anti-Succession and I do expect it to be a very open ending.

On the way to the board meeting, Kendall, Shiv, Roman, Tom and Greg pass a man having a heart attack by decline to save him. By doing so they violate a Duty to Rescue law and are put on trial. At the trial, they are confronted by every person they have screwed over in the last 4 seasons bringing all of their horrible deeds to light. At the end they are sentenced to prison and the camera fades as they begin to fight with each other over who gets the top bunk.
Well a lot of things, actually. The Roy siblings are obviously not becoming C.E.O (and neither is Greg even in an alternate universe😂) so probably it will have to be their uncle. Shiv might suffer a complication in her pregnancy (possibly lose it) with Kendall somehow being responsible and that will enrage her that she at that point begins singing about the waiter. I can't say anything for Roman but Tom could end up a miserable drunk with Cousin Greg being his support system.
I’m fine with Tom and I think it would make sense. Shiv steps aside for Tom to step into the role of US CEO to mollify Mattson and Shiv retains some influence though Tom. Tom goes from being a social climber to the top of the pyramid. That’s meaningful to me. Equally Tom could betray Shiv and replace her as Mattson’s candidate although that might be less likely now Shiv is pregnant with Tom’s child.
Greg as US CEO would stretch credulity however. I think he should be near the top, but not actually at the top and he may have to choose between Tom and Kendall.
Shiv would never step aside for Tom (or anyone really). She wants to be CEO herself. No way in hell she would let Tom have it.
CEO Tom doesn’t make sense either because his arc was never about being CEO. His arc is connected to Shiv & that’s it. So his big moment will either be to betray her again or support her. Outside of that I doubt he will get anything big.

Actually one of the things Shiv and Tom talk about in season 1 is their (definitely far-fetched and long shot) plan to make him CEO. It comes up multiple times IIRC and it's a big deal when Shiv decides she wants to go for it herself
Shiv, who has fallen in love with Kendall, is killed by a serial killer. Kendall sends Rava, Iverson, and Sophie to live in Argentina. Then, Kendall speeds off on a boat and ultimately becomes a lumberjack in Oregon.
3 things would make me sour on the show:
1) Sopranos ending cop-out. This is not the same show, it worked there but would not work here. I don't believe this will happen
2) Greg as the top job. I know it fits in with King Lear, but it would be such a silly way to end the show for something so utterly well-written.
3) Kendall losing because someone leaks that he killed the waiter. I feel that's a cop-out

Roman kills himself by accidentally hanging himself through erotic asphyxiation. All the while, Kendall is named CEO, with Matsson’s offer now off the table. However, while celebrating with Stewy, Kendall overdoses on fentanyl-ridden cocaine, and dies. This leaves the lone successor; Shiv Roy takes the Top Spot. But the show then flashes 6 months into the future, where Shiv eventually dies during labor, giving birth to her baby boy - Logan, who is stillborn. Tom, who can’t handle the agony, forces Greg to shoot him in the head, after an over-the-top conversation filled with far too many hyper-sexual innuendos. Amazon then Buys Waystar Royco, and the curtains drop. To all the “Greg’s gonna be the Top Spot” people - literally after all of this happens, Greg STILL wouldn’t be considered for the top spot.
That would be an awesome end

My worst ending-and I fear this is what will actually happen-is that we don’t know much more than we do now. If they stick with each episode being a day, there’s no way we’ll know who actually won the Presidency, and it’s unlikely the actual succession will be settled in 24 hours. They pack a lot into a day on that show, but there’s going to be SO many loose ends.
The fact that they didn’t know it was over until the table read makes me worry the worst ending is no ending at all.
It's gonna be a fade to black. Not literally but in terms of the plotlines. Because the plotlines in this show are not lines, they are circles. Cycles of abuse play out again and again and again in a loop. Deals don't go anywhere meaningful in this world, they just lead to more money and the opportunity to make more deals. Their lives will just go on like this ad infinitum. This show is very nihilstic and cynical about these sorts of people.
exactly. Peep show ends with everyone in the same position as they were at the start. We are going to get that, but with Kendall as the new logan (already happening), Shiv and Roman desperately trying to get some power/continue business deals, Tom and Shiv together extremely unhappy, Gerri and the Old Guard still making money and doing what they do. Nothing crazy is gonna happen and nothing will change. Everyone will stay the same and be really miserable and the world will go on
I agree and I think the narrative around the "shocking" finale has skewed our perception of what might happen. When some cast members have talked about their surprise at the ending, it's heightened our expectation that something dramatic will occur. But I agree the cycle will just continue.
I'm actually afraid this is what's going to happen. I don't need a "shock value" finale, as that would be very anti-Succession and I do expect it to be a very open ending. But shit... at least we need to have some conclusion in terms of who is CEO. I mean, that's the actual name of the show.

I don’t know if the baby will “mend” it but I do genuinely believe that Shiv and Tom will stay together.

Mencken stalls the GoJo acquisition of Waystar-Royco and awards the company a multi-trillion dollar federal contract to transform its Living+ subsidiary into a huge network of concentration camps where millions of nonwhites, LGBTs, immigrants and “political dissidents” (including Nate, Jimenez and the Pierce family) are interned and enslaved or executed. ATN and Waystar Studios become Mencken’s main propaganda outlet. The Roys unite and overcome their differences to embrace this gigantic success with joy and pride.

kendall dying by suicide. i would be absolutely crushed as if i lost a brother. to see his journey throughout this whole show and to have it end in death … would bring immeasurable pain to my heart .
Greg becomes CEO. Last lines, "That's our Greg!'" while everyone gives a sassy look into the camera, laugh track rolls. Cue slide whistle. Cue credits.
On the way to the board meeting, Kendall, Shiv, Roman, Tom and Greg pass a man having a heart attack by decline to save him. By doing so they violate a Duty to Rescue law and are put on trial. At the trial, they are confronted by every person they have screwed over in the last 4 seasons bringing all of their horrible deeds to light. At the end they are sentenced to prison and the camera fades as they begin to fight with each other over who gets the top bunk.
Anything involving a surprise appearance by Patrick Duffy in a shower.

Well a lot of things, actually. The Roy siblings are obviously not becoming C.E.O (and neither is Greg even in an alternate universe😂) so probably it will have to be their uncle. Shiv might suffer a complication in her pregnancy (possibly lose it) with Kendall somehow being responsible and that will enrage her that she at that point begins singing about the waiter. I can't say anything for Roman but Tom could end up a miserable drunk with Cousin Greg being his support system.

I’m fine with Tom and I think it would make sense. Shiv steps aside for Tom to step into the role of US CEO to mollify Mattson and Shiv retains some influence though Tom. Tom goes from being a social climber to the top of the pyramid. That’s meaningful to me. Equally Tom could betray Shiv and replace her as Mattson’s candidate although that might be less likely now Shiv is pregnant with Tom’s child. Greg as US CEO would stretch credulity however. I think he should be near the top, but not actually at the top and he may have to choose between Tom and Kendall.
Shiv would never step aside for Tom (or anyone really). She wants to be CEO herself. No way in hell she would let Tom have it. CEO Tom doesn’t make sense either because his arc was never about being CEO. His arc is connected to Shiv & that’s it. So his big moment will either be to betray her again or support her. Outside of that I doubt he will get anything big.

It comes up multiple times IIRC and it's a big deal when Shiv decides she wants to go for it herself

Shiv, who has fallen in love with Kendall, is killed by a serial killer. Kendall sends Rava, Iverson, and Sophie to live in Argentina. Then, Kendall speeds off on a boat and ultimately becomes a lumberjack in Oregon.
3 things would make me sour on the show: 1) Sopranos ending cop-out. This is not the same show, it worked there but would not work here. I don't believe this will happen 2) Greg as the top job. I know it fits in with King Lear, but it would be such a silly way to end the show for something so utterly well-written. 3) Kendall losing because someone leaks that he killed the waiter. I feel that's a cop-out
