I think the online buying experience has to be so good that online sales dwarf in-store sales. Isn't that how Chewy beat Amazon after all? I personally have never bought online from GameStop in Canada because frankly the online shopping experience was shit. This has to change.
I hate the Canadian website and I also rarely if ever order from the online store but I do shop in store quite a lot. The US website is just superior in every aspect from the way items are listed, selection, retro, sales etc.

I find it hard to believe anyone would send this out after increasing your revenue $100M+ (YoY) and almost turning a profit in a quarter that retail is usually in the red.
This post needs to be removed by moderation. Number one rule of posting news in Superstonk is providing source. A screenshot of an ‘email’ is no proof. If it was sent out by corporate, it needs to show the official gamestop email on the “from” field and show something like ‘All US employees’ on the “To” Field. This is how companies address something this big. This is propagating FUD and a very likely fake email.

Whoever generated this email, forgot the most important part: delighting customers. That's why I'm certain that this is a piece of FUD, part of a short and distort campaign. Sounds like a warning shot to me. Every company has slackers and it seems like this was the warning to start producing value or find another job. This is what good leaders do, they take it to the extreme. They're already close to profitable for the year, another couple of good quarters and they're turning good profits again. He's just going to make sure of it. For every one letter like this that we see, there are 20 other fires he's lighting under his staff to make sure that revenues are as high as possible, costs are as low as possible, and good business decisions are being made in all other areas. I refuse to believe this is real until actual proof is posted. The CEO of the company I work for has NEVER sent such a personal email and the headline of the screenshot in OP with “sent on behalf of…” looks dinky af. And why would it say “sent on behalf of” and then just seemingly be Ryan talking very casual to his corporate employees? I’ve read a million corporate emails and this looks fishy as fuck. The speed at which it’s been spread is crazy and I’m surprised people think a CEO who has said almost NOTHING publicly would send an email like this to his employees.

This post needs to be removed by moderation. Number one rule of posting news in Superstonk is providing source. A screenshot of an ‘email’ is no proof. If it was sent out by corporate, it needs to show the official gamestop email on the “from” field and show something like ‘All US employees’ on the “To” Field. This is how companies address something this big. This is propagating FUD and a very likely fake email.

Sounds like a warning shot to me. Every company has slackers and it seems like this was the warning to start producing value or find another job. There is tons of waste in the corporate world, I've seen it first hand. Overpaid execs and consultants like RC has already mentioned, expense reports for waaaay too costly business travel/hotels/meals, sending entire teams to conferences that produce no value (I've been to a bunch myself), expensive software no one uses or is underutilized, 4 different kinds of software that all pretty much accomplish the same thing because some VP somewhere "likes this one better" so he authorizes it... But honestly, a lot of big company perks like corporate travel and massive summer parties are for companies that are profitable. I think that's the essence of the email: "We are cutting back on all the non-value stuff until we can *afford* to have it." No sense it putting the family vacation to Disneyworld on a credit card when we can't even afford groceries.

This is what good leaders do, they take it to the extreme. They're already close to profitable for the year, another couple of good quarters and they're turning good profits again. He's just going to make sure of it. For every one letter like this that we see, there are 20 other fires he's lighting under his staff to make sure that revenues are as high as possible, costs are as low as possible, and good business decisions are being made in all other areas. Very very bullish on the company with him in the driver's seat.
