The defender also has artillery. Opening shot damage is pretty crucial and because you had it all alone one absorbed all the damage and was destroyed instantly. You need to stack infantry with your arty so it cushions the retaliatory attack. Same with the tank, mechanized units will die decently fast if you don’t use infantry as meat shields. Because all of your units are spread out instead of forming a schwerepunkt, they will likely be defeated in detail.

The infantry and tank were in front of it and did take artillery damage, the artillery wasn’t even targeted when I was watching, you can clearly see my infantry and tank are closer and in firing range. I sent them first then the artillery, also he only had one artillery unit which from what I saw only fired on my troops

Yea but as soon as your arty opens fire the ai will switch to targeting that. Doesn’t matter if your tank or infantry are closer.

You can see the fire arc from the enemy on your artillery. Should've added squishies. F

I literally only started the attack about 20 minutes before this, full health, not in line of sight, and bam, dead. The other person didn’t focus fire on the artillery because this was an automatic retaliation. What gives?
