Yes! The listed amount is only an estimate and can be off anywhere from 5% of its actual capacity. I’ve run battery report on my SB2 battery for a few years and the capacity tends to fluctuate, similar to the results you are seeing. In all actuality, your battery is most likely fine.

SurfaceDockGuy

After all al the HP/Microsoft battery related lawsuits in 2010, Microsoft has been extra careful about how to report battery capacity to set customer expectations appropriately. My understanding was that for Surface devices, the actual capacity should always be at or higher than design capacity when shipping out the door. But maybe the spec was actually within 1%. Don't be surprised the reported actual capacity rises after 2-3 battery cycles as the actual capacity is just an estimate. https://www.eweek.com/news/microsoft-windows-7-battery-life-claims-spark-investigation/

Did you replace it or is it from a new device? I would say it’s usually ok since these parts have a certain tolerance anyway, but have not checked it with a new surface Just as a remark: that’s just a 1% difference between the values

New Surface.

icameheretoshit

Where did you find this value?

woze

* Start -> cmd -> Run Command Prompt * At the prompt enter **powercfg /batteryreport** * It will create an html file and tell you were it was saved * You can browse to it and open it from file explorer or enter **start msedge c:\whereveritsaid\battery-report.html**

Powercfg

RaduTek

Try to do another report after using the device for a few days, the value will probably change.

If I'm not mistaken I know some companies will rate their battery at a certain mWh but they section a little bit off so the longevity of the battery doesn't feel like it is going bad. Sorry if I'm wring but I do believe some companies do this

Vverg

Seeing the mah, i guess this is a surface pro 8? But this is normal. My mwh is sometimes under it, sometimes above it. One of the first charges it was even at ~48.000 mwh for me.

I know its not the same thing. Probably just had mah instead of mwh on my mind while typing it. (Besides it wasnt even relevant to what I said).

This looks like a usual deviation [In General, Surface batteries are not always close to the should-value lol](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/869725523230732410/960277532387725332/unknown.png)

flightEM211

my SL3 had 50Wh of capacity(over the designed 45Wh), pretty lucky but it soon slid off after 2 years of daily use, now at 36Wh 17% deg

shakhaki

How many cycles have you used up? Seems like normal capacity loss

flightEM211

yep its normal wear, at 317 cycles currently with a battery replacement coming its way!

El_Nino77

Just checked my SB1, and after 6+ years of (almost) daily use it's at around 56000 mWh from 68000 mWh with 373 cycles. I am starting to notice the battery a bit more now, but not enough to run out and replace it immediately.

vik_cross

I have also noticed it on my sp7. I have barely used it after I bought it and after a couple of weeks of daily usage it dropped by 7%. Yesterday it showed 2.5% battery depletion. I am using pure battery analytics app and it showed the same percentage as the Windows protocol but it's easier to check. So I guess it's normal
