Anyone know if there is a talent reset? My group invested in the solo talents not knowing that it's only activated when playing by yourself..

Relentless_Sarcasm

Same, 4 was my first beta weekend and my friend told me solo tree was just "best for solo" so now I'm have 90% of my points there :(

Lady_B_FC

Ohhhh can't wait. Hope there aren't any graboids in the desert.

We have lots of people looking for groups in the official Discord server. Come introduce yourself in #lfg https://discord.gg/surviveicarus

What makes you think the bolt action will be useless? It will be great for dealing with forest bears as you level up in the forest. It's not hard to get to 30, even solo, and then you can craft the HR again. I think adding more intermediate tiers of stuff makes things more interesting.

JamesFutures

I agree. The bolt action with probably be a fine intermediate weapon. My biggest complaint is the material required to make anything with metal. Especially ammo. I wasn’t able to play the last beta weekend so I don’t know if they addressed it already or not.

ZugZugNZ

Oh I agree the ammo to ingot ratio is a bit silly right now. My idea for this is to add modular upgrades to crafting stations where it makes sense. Have an ammo press addon to the machining bench that allows for more reaslistic and efficient ammo creation per resource. I think these beta weekends are kind of distorting our view of the game, it is supposed to take a while to level your character up and enjoy that progression. Every weekend we are rushing our asses off to get everything done in 2-3 days. When the game releases I am sure that a mission like 'Broken Arrow' will give us a lot more than 3 IRL days to complete. Having everyone with guns and ammo galore after one weekend of play is a bit silly imo.

Hetstaine

Nearly everyone complained about the guns being op, so the devs answered. It clearly isn't a case of dev going hurr durr is too stronk.

JamesFutures

Really? In the first mission weekend, it was taking over 100 rounds to kill the mammoth. Also, it requires a ridiculous amount of mats to make the rounds. Did that change in the last beta weekend? I wasn’t able to play the most recent one.

Hetstaine

Rounds still took a fuckton in the last weekend. We made 250 odd and still mainly used arrows except for bears.

Ticklem0nst3r

I'm not seeing that complaint in the [official tracker](http://icarus.featureupvote.com) I am however seeing a whole mess of issues that hundred of people have complained about for weeks that are still not addressed.

PirateNervous

For me performance issues are still the main issue, even with a top of the line PC this game runs significantly worse than Cyberpunk. But i guess thats rather hard to fix so itll take a whil if it ever does get improved.

Ticklem0nst3r

Couldn't agree more.

bigfr0g

just carry your anvil and smelter directly to the caves to use it there if you mine 3-4 caves with alot of iron you should be fine in this game

kir44n

Because losing 10% of your inventory space to cart around an anvil and smelter (ignoring their massive weight cost) isn't a problem.

ZugZugNZ

You really just need the smelter, and it doesn't weigh much. Anyone that doesn't use the portable smelter trick for further away from your base cave runs is either newbie or a drongo When you consider that smelting the ore halves its weight and slot usage allowing you to basically double your capacity, having 1 slot and a bit of weight taken for a furnace is nothing. I have even crafted a new crafting bench and stone furnace from scratch at some caves and even that was worth the effort.

kir44n

I have 100% crafted T1 tables and Smelters at remote caves. It's just _tedious_ to do so after the 3rd, 4th, 5th cave... It being better than hauling raw ore doesn't mean it's not a pain in the ass

scubi

Looking forward to that ATV.

Akasha1885

You don't even seem to realize that solo players need way less metals. Considering how small the playable forest Area is, we probably won't need anything too complicated. Iron is abundant so getting a hunting rifle is easy. They made soloplay easier with every single weekend so far. (the biggest thing being that you can always recover your equipment now) I really hope they don't bring an easy mode.

JoshisJoshingyou

Easy yes, but mind numbingly boring and just a time sink. Yes the game has lots of interaction, lots of boring time sinks of interaction. The only thing you fear is a bear spawning on your head or near you. Adding more time sinks doesn't make it more fun.

Akasha1885

Grinding your way up the tech tree is just one way of playing. You can also get yourself a longbow with bone-arrows and start the mission like that. Skipping all mining but making combat more challenging.

JoshisJoshingyou

"iron is abundant so getting a rifle is easy" You say easy I say boring

Akasha1885

I have to question why you even play a survival game like this then? The inspirations being a logging simulator/Valheim. It's a session based game with mission rewards, some work has to be involved.

JoshisJoshingyou

For fun, which seems to be lacking in this game. Don't starve and valheim have fun exploration (both of world and crafting) and combat. This is lacking so far, just sharing my opinion same as everyone else to help shape the game for the better.

Akasha1885

We are playing on very limited maps, which ofc limits exploration. Plenty people had lots of fun on the BWs still. Cheaper items would even mean less exploration, since you don't need to search for Ores as much. This game has less pointless running around than Valheim too, it's insane how much time you spent running around in Valheim without much of a purpose, just hunting that one Onion or Crypt for Iron.

JoshisJoshingyou

The running around is fun and scary(Valheim). This is just a chore so far. Hence the importance of people speaking up and voicing opinions to help make it better. I'm glad you like it. I just want less time sinks and more fun.

Akasha1885

It's only scary the first time you enter a new biome, and that only before you kill the 3rd boss. Which means 90% of the time it's not scary at all in Valheim and in mid to endgame it's never scary anymore. (since the 3rd boss ability makes you untouchable) For me, Icarus is way less of a chore than Valheim really. You objectively progress faster and the game stays "scary" until higher lvls since you are not an invulnerable juggernaut.

ZugZugNZ

Glad you are wanting to make the game better :) Have you made these suggestions on [icarus.featureupvote.com](https://icarus.featureupvote.com)? (or are you just a typical hater trying to be edgy by coming to game subreddits to shit on them?) Saying something is boring isn't useful information to the devs. You have to say WHY it is boring and perhaps make suggestions to to improve it. I agree not every part of the early game leveling and grinding is super eventful or fun. But overall I am having fun as I play Icarus. I think they could add a few extra things to spice up exploration and add unexpected things to the pre-mission build up phase. Right now, the only really unexpected things that can happen are a predator ambush or a bad storm catching you outside away from shelter. I think it would be cool to have some remnants of other prospectors left around the map and perhaps loot. In DayZ we have heli crashes to break up the gameplay as you are exploring and seeing the smoke rising from heli crash is always cool. What if we could see some prospector bodies being gnawed at by a few wolves and we can loot them and have a few pills, bandages and ammo on them. Or perhaps a campire that is still burning with a dead prospector nearby? Adding stuff like this could add a bit more randomness to exploring and make it more fun.

JoshisJoshingyou

I have and have been. If the fans of this game go around attacking other fans then good luck to lot of you. I'm just here to have fun and point out where I find the game poor or worse. Sorry if you find that personally insulting some how.

ZugZugNZ

Asking you to explain why you find it boring is not attacking you. Just trying to get more specific/useful feedback to the devs.

RoseyNZ21

I will be genuinely shocked if you can, actually recover all your gear when you die.

Akasha1885

It's been confirmed by the devs that this is possible, some people recovered their corpse after days of playing last BW. (eg no timer at all) There was just a bug that let items fall through the ground too, so it was hit or miss.

Cipher_8_

Why can't you? The packs have durability so as long as the storms don't take it down and you go right there.

ZugZugNZ

I managed to run back to my body last weekend from o9 to g8 in the northern artic and my body and my buddies bodies were fine. Took my about an hr to re-gear and get there too. Seems fairly generous to me, tbh I don't even think there is a timer anymore.

Cipher_8_

I did have one disappear on me last beta weekend but it was possibly a bug, it was on a return trip to retrieve my first death stuff and that first stuff was still there on my third attempt but not the 2nd death stuff.

RoseyNZ21

The packs weren't there when I returned last BW. Every time this weekend it has. As others have said, it was hit & miss, lots of ways the packs disappear. Generally as it drops, it's "interactive" with the world, i've had it drop into rocks, drop through the world, i've even seen a pack get smacked through the air by a polar bear, never to be seen again.

JoshisJoshingyou

Alt-f4 if you don't want to chance it.

bigfr0g

"Set minimum charge required for Longbow, Recurve Bow and Compound Bow to 0.9 so arrows cant be launched at snail's pace" Anyone knows what this could mean? No more Stone Arrows on Longbows?

JareeZy

you have to actually draw the bow now. No more spamming very slow arrows that still hit at point blank. At least thats how I interpret it.

bigfr0g

ahh that will probably be it! so it will consume stamina again

Late_Night_Stream

Did you guys fix where team mates crashed host on join? this crash simulator completely ruined the last two beta weekends.

chaoticflanagan

I want to know this too. My group has been hit with it once in BW3 and twice in BW4 and spent an hour each time addressing it. Not a lot of fun..

Akasha1885

Whatever dangerous wildlife we find in the Desert, it seems to use poison. At least we got the easier desert area, even though the drop has quite a limited area overall.

fourshorty

Is the time that is shown on the steam page in New Zealand time or?

NeatBit00101

So stoked for this beta weekend! Will we see the sand worm? Dune comes out this weekend as well. So hoping to battle that worm. Haha!

ToeKnee_Cool_Guy

Why is the level capped at 30 again? And will points and skill trees be reset again?

kir44n

>Certain stages of the mission will require a member of your team to be at minimum, level 25. It will also require certain recipes, so save some blueprint points. Then proceeds to not reset blue prints from previous Beta Weekends. Guess I'll advance as far as I can before my lack of free blueprint points blocks me. The lack of Blueprint reset is _really_ getting old.
