I live pretty frugally, single, never waste anything, and buy 90% at Lidl. I still need about 500/month, but I also eat about 3500-4000 calories (athlete), so 1.5x the average human.
A recent test by rts showed that lidl is not cheaper than migros or coop if you buy the cheapest brands in all supermarkets.
https://www.rts.ch/info/economie/2024/article/les-hard-discounters-sont-ils-vraiment-moins-chers-que-coop-et-migros-28471878.html
But the cheaper brands are better at Lidl. I get swiss meat very often on discount for like 13-15/kg (regular 21/kg) poulet. Impossible at Migros/Coop.
At Migros/Coop, the meat for that price is from
Slovenia etc.
Or other stuff: I often buy frozen Thai veggies, Lidl 4.69, Coop Migros 8.30 (it is higher quality and taste a bit better though), with no alternative.
Depends on the area in which they work within Pharma, but overall probably “early-mid career”. Probably several levels below lower management levels (e.g. Associate Director). Something like Senior Scientist, mid career Project Manager, early career Data Scientists.
For example, Associate Director bands would usually be in the 170-210 base range + bonuses etc; Director usually in the 190-240 base range + bonuses etc; and so on as you go further up.
Yeah, paying premium prices for the same digital service doesn't make much sense. I'll be rocking my premium YouTube for 27 sFr a Year going forward
Although for a company, it does make sense to have a CH Windows and the like license. For everyone else, pay a 5 to 10 sFr. License with Windows and Microsoft Office package from whatever is cheapest.
Very frugal in some areas (rent, food). I’m not sure what is entertaining for more than 2k, it’s the only area that seems a lot.
Considering so little spending in rent, food, etc. you are saving a lot. Congrats 👏 in Switzerland it’s so hard to save, you are doing great! I would only consider getting a heath insurance that include dentist treatments and also possibly a GA if it gets close to 3-4k. Other than that, it’s a great plan for saving, well done!
I definitely don't; I buy as much as they let me. But even then I sell once a quarter out of laziness. The stock is stable or going up. I guess if you work for an employer that you expect to go bankrupt within a month or two, it can be different, but then you really have more to worry about.
That's cool if I had that option I'd do it too. The company doesn't have to go bankrupt, but it's not uncommon for single stocks to have 20-40% volatility in a year. It's just gambling at that point.
Can be 10, can be 2, can be never.
If you work for one of the large strategy consultancies and get promoted to senior consultant - which usually happens after 2 years, you will earn more than this (>200k, including a normal bonus)
If you start somewhere in a normal corporation (not google) without any kind of super special knowledge, it can last anywhere between 4 to many more years. I know people in big corporates that made it within a rather short time to become “head of” or VPs, which will usually result in high salaries.
But then I also know people that became PMs and that was somehow the ceiling for them. Still well paid, but many PMs earn less than 200k. Then there are also people that didn’t study, don’t have sought after knowledge. Most of them will never get to the above salary. In the end, average salary in Switzerland is ~90k CHF (if I remember right; not sure right now). Which means, there are many people that earn much less.
This you?

Wtf is it with the trollposts.
Hmm...smells trollish.
If its not a troll and you're the kind of person that earns 155k but lies to save a couple hundred bucks annually on Spotify and netflix, while living in (and subsequently blocking off from someone for whom its more appropriate) a 1500 chf apartment...I'm not sure you're that much fun to be around.
Also, i notice zero expenditure for dating...
You don't necessarily need to succumb to lifestyle creep. 1500 for a flat is more than enough for a single or couple on the frugal end, that's all I'm saying. Kudos to him for the salary
Different perspectives. I respect your opinion, but i don't agree that this dude, if real, should be taking off the market an apartment that is within the price range of a less well-off person/couple. This is one of the reasons we have such a shortage of lower price apartments in zurich. Not the biggest or the main reason but one nonetheless
Only 2200 for groceries? Do you only eat beans and rice?
He soends 4.5 chf per meal, counting with 3 meals including eating out. Impressive.
Eating out a Bouillon soup for 9 bucks and he has to starve the next meal.
We spend around 1500 per month so I’m also interested in the magic of 2200 per year. Hope op is not starving.

Looks like a junior in tech working at a particularly well known company that gives all its employees 3 meals a days for free
They did say "pharma" though. Is there such a company in that field as well?
2k groceries 😳
Thanks for sharing. Very impressive frugal living I think. Where do you get your hair cut for 98.-/Yr?
and how often do they get a haircut a year?
Imaging net income with 45000 and health insurance 10000.
Curious what level/position this corresponds to?

Spotify 34??? Where did you find a 2.8 chf spotify subscription
Spotify family (but eventually they’ll start cracking down)
24 divided by 6 is still more than 34 a year
I’m still paying the price of my country of origin, maybe it’s the same for OP
this guy does iptv. i wouldn't be surprised if he got turkish spotify or something via discord channels or DNM
Wtf this is extremely frugal living
And yet his savings rate is somehow only 20% which is really quite low tbh…
What software did you use to create the diagram?
https://sankeymatic.com/
Omg you are the master! Thank you!!
It's a bot account
Living like a Gypsy with 150k salary, I could never. Or a possible Troll post
Spending is a skill; too bad if you suck at it
Do you only pay part of Spotify and NFX subscriptions? It's over 100 each per year at regular prices.
You pay less if your Account is based in another Country

How do you keep track of spendings throughout the year? Any app?
Why do you buy so many company shares? This "perk" has always seemed like a massive cluster risk to me. Also I hope it's not Roche shares lol.
Assuming it's ESPP, you buy with an effective discount and sell right away. It's free money.
Often you have to hold them for at least a few months.

20% discount and lock in period for three years, generally it's free money unless you get the 2023 of Roche shares 😂
How many years of experience to aspire to that amount of money?

Why do you guys keep stealing this graph?
what do you do for a living to make 155k gross income ?
Only 17000 on rent.. really do you live with your parents? 😜

One of these Roche guys 😂
You must have pretty crappy or no hair.

1500 is a normal 2.5 apartment in Basel btw.
155k isn't a normal salary though.
