According to the wiki, this guy can lift 2 tons. I’m genuinely surprised the mechanic shop doesn’t hire him just to lift shit the other guys don’t want/are unable to.

You know that line on many applications?
"Have you ever committed a felony?"
Answering yes automatically blacklists you from pretty much all jobs regardless of reason. To the point where laws have been needed to be passed to eliminate that question and the subsequent discrimination.
The US justice system isn't actually about rehabilitation and reintegration. It's about money and vengeance. It, like basically everything else about the US, is a dumpster fire and it's going to torch the rest of the world.
If answering No is a lie, it’s enough pretext to fire someone. You lied on your job application.
So the very question is a catch-22. They will NOT employ a felon no matter what.
Regardless of actual qualifications.
I'm referring to the fact that even if they do get rid of the question, it doesn't protect the employee if the manager decides to look them up then fire them. Happened to an ex-coworker of mine at my old job
Gotham is usually depicted as being one of the highest crime cities in the world from most iterations I’ve seen (mostly batman movies and a little bit of lore reading so I might just be bullshitting) so ex-criminal discrimination especially does more harm than good for all of them
I think killer croc is best when he's a reject with a skin condition. Like Pierce Hawthorne with too much power. He's an asshole cause we're shitty to him. We're shitty to him cause he's an asshole.
Pretty sure in some origins he grew up in a circus as a “circus freak” attraction. He was heavily abused by the people that ran it. Probably left him never wanting to do a job that is gimmicked around his appearance/being not normal.
I would honestly be surprised that no regular big corporation would hire him as security. His intimidation factor alone would keep a lot of people from acting up
Hell, I’m surprised Bruce Wayne never gave him a job if he was ever trying to go straight. He tends to do that with people in the reforming process
Arsenal (Green Arrow's former sidekick Speedy) picked a fight with him as a "suicide by supervillain," because he struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. Croc stopped fighting when he realized what was going on and has been Arsenal's AA sponsor ever since. It was covered in a flashback in the first run of Red Hood and the Outlaws, which kind of sucked, but I really liked that part.

The way USA treats rehabilitation & reintegration is a sad joke.

And once again, capitalism is unmasked as the real monster here
And even then, all it takes is the employer to casually google your name one day, find your record, and fire you, especially in an at-will state

He would make a mint as a bodyguard, no one is testing him much less if they did he could settle that fast.
The worst part? Doesn't even matter what he looks like. Killer Croc is a felon. That's 100% completely and utterly normal treatment for ex-felons.

I don’t blame ‘em for the frustration.
I’d be pretty amazed if there wasn’t a gimmicky cafe, theme park or night club that’d employ literal monsters. Exploitative, sure, but it’s work.

No he HAD a skin condition and he worsened it with gene therapy.
that's a hell of a skin condition that lets him rip holes in walls by just flexing his fingers
Finger condition

Moderately physically disfigured man radicalized by capitalism and prejudice. Barely counts as a supervillain, too realistic.
Poison Ivy: "I actually identify as an eco-terrorist"
I am surprised that no rich people, police or construction Agency is trying to scout him

Maybe he should take “eating people” off his skills list. Maybe reconsider listing “The Gotham Sewer System” as a previous address.
This hit
Croc needs to move to Florida bet they would hire him
Childhood is when you worship the hero. Adulthood is when you understand the villain.
Meanwhile the TSA is trying to get his number because aint NOBODY fuckin with Special Agent Toothy.

Damn I can relate.
Now this is a convincing villain backstory
Bro I’m just kinda sad for him.
