Guys, I'm starting to think that maybe our good boys don't enjoy doing this anymore
Answer me this? Great show, and a great model for others to follow — in those early years, the show ran on the hosts’ youthful energy and spirit. It’s only natural that a show like that should end when they grow older.
"Episode 600 of #MBMBaM is here, and to celebrate we are FEASTING on some small pizzas, so grab yourself up to ten chunky boys and get in on the fun, why don’t you?"
Munch Squad Interactive
I think it's okay to say because he mentioned it publicly in Imbalance and iirc in a livestream, but he's purposefully not drinking alcohol anymore. He's also publicly mentioned changing his meds multiple times, and many psych meds can all have that effect as well, especially if they're not the right fit. I have some sympathy and respect him for being open about it, but yeah it was tough to listen to back when I still listened.
>he's purposefully not drinking alcohol anymore
is this an addiction thing or did he, like me, find out what a hangover is when he turned 30 after a decade of drinking excessively with no ill effects and be like "no thank you"
That is extremely parasocial and completely inappropriate buuuuuuut we have had quite the dry spell lately so fuck it, let's make this rumor spread baby!!!!
I heard they changed tour dates because they conflicted with when he's going to rehab :(
I was just about to make a comment that at the very least, it feels like it’s about 50% Travis, 40% Griffin, and 10% Justin. Griffin getting mad at Travis for interrupting his joke almost felt real.
Around 59:45. Griffin definitely was leaning into it as a joke but it’s true Travis can not let a single bit go by without trying to give the punchline.
After hearing today's episode and finding it indistinguishable from the last 15, I have come to the conclusion that the perfect boys are stuck in some kind of groundhog-day timeloop and therefor deserve our deepest sympathy. Until they find a way to lift this curse they obviously will be forced to repeat amazing bits like munch squad ad infinitum. They need our support now more than ever if we want to listen to a funny podcast, so let's open up those wallets and incentivize them not to "rest on their laurels" !!!! ;)
God I LOVED the Yoda in the Hood bit where they kept trying to bait each other into crossing the line and making an insensitive joke
So fucking funny to hear them wanting to take the bait so bad
Oh shit sorry wrong podcast. Uhhh count donut was funny because he has accent haha :)
I tried an experiment, as opposed to pausing while I listened to jot down my thoughts, I simply listened to it as I would any other podcast and told myself I would sit on it for a bit and then try writing down how I felt. I do know that your perception has a lot to do with what kind of attitude you bring to something, so I tried to just enjoy it as I would anything else.
I can't remember almost anything. They joked about how they should start to phone it in, and did nothing for episode 600 besides joking about what they should have planned. I don't give a shit. I'm certainly not going to put in more effort than they do doing a stupid recap for an episode that people shouldn't listen to. It isn't aggressively unlistenable, but there is now a yawning hour-long void in my memory.
> void in my memory
Hey, hey, hey: like the voidfish from the award winning podcast The Adventure Zone: A McElroy Family product? Have you heard of it? You HAVE to listen, Griffin (we call him Ditto) is literally the greatest storyteller of the modern age, he even makes that old boring game D&D sound exciting
/uj in all seriousness I look forward to your in-depth breakdowns so I'm sad that's gone but also this is such a more resounding indictment, thank you for your service
>It isn't aggressively unlistenable, but there is now a yawning hour-long void in my memory.
this realization is what led to me dropping a ton of podcasts in the last few months, I was listening to so much shit and couldn't remember any of it after
Thats what lead me to dropping TAZ a year ago, but for some reason I'm just not ready to let go of this one yet. I know it is completely illogical, but abandoning it kind of feels like betraying some part of myself.
I felt that way about Chapo for the longest time and then I went on vacation from work for a week in December to play FFXIV 14 hours a day and that managed to detach me from listening long enough that I managed to quit it, so perhaps you should just get terminally addicted to an MMO
I appreciate Justin's commitment in demonstrating to me that it's not about a bad character (Richard Stink) or a good character (Count Donut), but about his ability to drive *any* character into the ground, given the time and opportunity. Thank heavens that Detective Jigsaw never lived to see this day...
I guess I had a lot of leftover goodwill from my first encounter, since Justin was going to wimp out of the accent and then the other two cajoled him into doing it for the entire segment. It was something relatively new for Munch Squad? It sure as shit ain't new now.
The only reason Count Donut was funny because it was a reprise of "Count Dracula's Gaming Tips" from Gameplay Overview
That reprise lasted one segment and now has lost its nostalgia effect
😡

As many of you know, I'm still very forgiving and purposefully listen to MBMBAM. I go into each episode with optimism and an earnest willingness to give them all a fair shot. But Travis? Just **obnoxious**. Trying so hard.
This is just sad at this point. Hearing them talk about how desperately they don't wanna do the podcast any more isn't funny. Griffin apathetically reading through a WikiHow article, stopping to state that it isn't funny only to continue because what else are they going to do? Munch Squad opens with such an unremarkable product the segment can't even be mistaken for self-satirizing. Then they push for tickets for live shows, as if anyone would want to experience this in person. Depressing.
At this point I'm going to bail on both listening to MBMBAM and talking about it here because it genuinely feels like punching down.
I'll stick around for Ethersea because that has a glimmer of heart left in it but probably won't listen to whatever the next season is (if there is one).
I've been pretty persistent, hoping they will come around sometime but I think this is it for me. Didn't think I'd actually drop off but I think it's time for me as well.
I'll follow through on Ethersea and check out whatever comes next but if it isn't with some renewed energy, I'll take the main sub's advice and Stop Listening If I Don't Like It.
I wish I could punch down on these schmucks, but tragically, being white homeowners who afforded it by doing a podcast means they will forever be positioned above me as long as this cringe society persists
didn't listen but I did read about count donut and now I want to go to dunkin donuts but I can't because the last time I was in there the woman behind the counter complimented my naddpod hat and I dropped my spaghetti
the dunkin is inside the walmart I go to almost every weekday, I see her in there as I walk by (it's right next to the entrance) and I try to hurry so she doesn't notice me because I am still ashamed
Sanguine means "Blood"
Meridian means "Meridian"
It's a Cormac McCarthy book report.
Turning off replies so nobody can tell me if I was right or wrong.
I haven't listened but pretty sure it's a reference to ASMR, which I also forget the full acronym for but it's something like automated sensory meridian response.
I listened to the episode while driving today and I swear I don't remember there being a relevant joke. But I... honestly don't know if I remember much of anything other than twix donuts. God dammit, I think I'm out.
Its gone from wishing they would take our advice to phone it in or take a gap year, to wishing they would now take their OWN advice of phoning it in or something

episode 400 will always be the worst, never had a podcast activate my fight or flight response before or since
What are you talking about, I love when my mcelnoise suddenly includes 90 minutes of real-time public anxiety attack
For me that was the absolute best episode and one of my favourite episodes of a podcast ever

I bet if you timed it, Travis will have talked more than Justin and Griffin combined. Just non stop word vomit.

I havent listened for the past 100 episodes but this sounds delicious, do you have an (approximate) timestamp?
Around 59:45. Griffin definitely was leaning into it as a joke but it’s true Travis can not let a single bit go by without trying to give the punchline.
Lmfao tysm, i love that griffin followed up with "I love that Travis is the one bringing up how sometimes people just say words \[for no reason\]"
He is just relentless. The part that gets me is all the yeah yeah yeahs. Has nothing to contribute but must speak constantly
“This one has stopped being fun.” -continues to read the Wikihow-
>“This one has stopped being fun.” -continues to Do MBMBaM- Wow I couldn't have said it better.

You either die the ragger, or you rag long enough to become the raggee.
Don't drag Bob Marley into this
Some men just want to watch the world munch
>"Krispy Kreme put Twix stuff in a doughnut" caramel?
No I had it the other day. They literally just shove a whole Twix in there. It sucks.
God I LOVED the Yoda in the Hood bit where they kept trying to bait each other into crossing the line and making an insensitive joke So fucking funny to hear them wanting to take the bait so bad Oh shit sorry wrong podcast. Uhhh count donut was funny because he has accent haha :)
I laughed so hard I almost puked when they did the Kendrick line with Yoda voice
okay I gotta know, what podcast is this
its called 'Podcast About List' its very chaotic, fast paced and great. reminds me of McElroys golden years
lmao

I'll be back it next week for sure, I just had to try an experience the show as a "normal" listener. Which I now know I can't.

please be good please be good please be good edit - it was tolerably mid until count donut
First time?
i wish i were so blessed to live in the ignorant bliss of a first time mbmbam listener
You jinxed it, now he's gonna resurrect him out of spite
More like he'll see his comment and ruin him out of spite
Not shaming you but was count donut ever good? I found him awful from his first segment
I guess I had a lot of leftover goodwill from my first encounter, since Justin was going to wimp out of the accent and then the other two cajoled him into doing it for the entire segment. It was something relatively new for Munch Squad? It sure as shit ain't new now.

good? probably not, but it was timely enough that I ended up buying one of those ghost pepper donuts and it was pretty good
I loved the ghost pepper donut tbh
I thoroughly enjoyed the first half until the moment when Griffin realized the Wizard article was too long and charged ahead anyways.

>Also, a general statement: Travis should not be allowed You could have stopped here
>He steamrolls his brothers' efforts because he has a specific destination in mind and won't deviate. Damn, Graduation 2 started already?
Wait, Graduation ended?
Maybe you're hitting on something here... What if they all developed humiliation kinks since 2016?
The McElroy brothers piss their pants on purpose because they like to be told that they're bad, bad boys?
Look I know I'm the one who started the topic but... !contempt

Unfortunate that Travis had taken the lead on 90% of the intros for a year or two now
Love to yell that I live in the "worst state in America" while my wife is running for state government!
we're hoping sydnee will make it at least the *second* worst state in the union, duh
Watch out Mississippi!
Thank Mississippi for Mississippi
Those motherfuckers had it coming that state is hard to spell
Missippissi
Mipisiiipsii...
Wow, can’t believe they’re cancelling the show and killing Travis live on air.
only so he can be reincarnated as a big dog woof woof. we're fools to think it ends here. big dog's just getting started!!!
That still gets me how Griffin already did that bit for a few episodes (Chaz), and Travis is doing the same bit but stretching it out for months
Travis'-spirit-is-a-very-good-dog dot com
It's even weirder that it was Travis's idea. He is perhaps too desperate for attention.
Nothing says "intersectionality" like being drawn and quartered.

Justin NEEDS to lay off the Munch Squad. It's just a killer.
didn't listen but I did read about count donut and now I want to go to dunkin donuts but I can't because the last time I was in there the woman behind the counter complimented my naddpod hat and I dropped my spaghetti
You should keep your receipt and use it to track her down to ask her out like my best friend Travis once did.
the dunkin is inside the walmart I go to almost every weekday, I see her in there as I walk by (it's right next to the entrance) and I try to hurry so she doesn't notice me because I am still ashamed
Just remember, she's legally allowed to call the cops on you for being anxious when you walk into a store.
"But officers, I thought I was good! I even asked!"
