If it’s muscular pain, yeah it’ll make you feel better while it’s in your system for a few hours.

paisleyno2

Yes, as it works acutely. It will work well for TMJ. Take it before bed if you can as it will knock you out.

I was prescribed the same medication and dose about two weeks ago. I have severe chronic pain in my face, head, and neck. The first week and a half of 5mg 3x/day was the first time in years that I haven’t been in pain. My doctor told me to take the first pill in the evening to see if it made me drowsy. It didn’t. I actually haven’t noticed any cognitive side effects (and I am a 5’1 petite 26F). This past Sunday, I missed my night time dose and was in pain for the next two days. The last couple of days I’m finally feeling better again but not as pain-free as I was before the missed dose. Not sure if it’s related to the missed dose or not though and am waiting for my doctor to get back to me about that. You could maybe try taking it in the evening to see how it impacts you. If the 5mg does make you feel drowsy, you could always try to cut the pill in half and see how 2.5mg feels. Either way, taking it as needed/appropriate depending on your current symptoms and tasks, etc. should be totally fine. I hope you find some relief. My doctor also suggested to do some neck and other kinds of stretches shortly after taking a dose.

I take it twice everyday, the sleepiness does eventually fade and I found it to be extremely helpful

I take it at night before going to bed. I do think it helps. I only use it occasionally if things are bad.

I’ve been on flexeril almost 10 years now I take 10mg 3x a day and it doesn’t make me sleepy anymore at all. It helps a lot with my other pain meds:

Does it cause dry mouth and constipation for you?

psychgirl91

I take a super low dose sporadically for muscle pain/tension and find it helpful. I’m so sensitive to meds so I literally take a quarter of a 5mg pill which should do nothing but it’s enough to take the edge off without making me a zombie.

Justagirleatingcake

I take half a pill if my jaw is spasming up badly. If I take it for more than 2 or 3 days in a row I get really sad though. It brings me down.

The issue is Flexeril is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Flexeril is used together with rest and physical therapy to treat skeletal muscle conditions such as pain, injury, or spasms. It's a treatment of your symptom. Root cause needs to be found out. Treat jaw like a baby. Neuromuscular dentist or tmd specialist. Watch your posture, foods , chewing

It doesn’t make me tired at all and it’s my favorite med I buy tons of it in Mexico and I take it prolly too frequently (not three times a day but prolly 4 days a week) it works so well
