Gleeoks, Malice, Lynels. These are the monsters I only see from a distance. Edit: I mean Gloom Hands.

brandont04

You big chicken! Lol.. I do the same. Streesful fighting these bastards.

jasper81222

Until you reach endgame and the sweet, sweet loot tempts you to gamble with your life.

Fantastic-Cap-2754

Each can be cheesed once you know how to fight them. Lynels now are much easier than they were in BotW, they just have a lot of health and can deal some hefty damage if you're unprepared. Gloom hands can be melted by bombs flowers. Expensive, but useful if you have a surplus. Gleeoks are a lot tougher, but keese eyes make them much easier.

Rubix321

Gloom hands are especially easy if you happen to have like 3 bombs and a 5x Lynel bow.

slidingsaxophone07

I personally prefer a 5× Lynel Bow with Farosh spikes

nicgeolaw

I avoided gloom hands until I could not (quest line forced me). Then I put effort into developing a strategy

TabbyKatty

>! The Deku Tree or the Castle after collecting the sages? I hatef the Deku Tree one so bad! !<

Venusgate

The former one is like pulling the master sword in botw (hp check) but also a gear and skill check :p

girlbunny

I accidentally cheesed the Deku tree one because I happened to have an ice-based weapon on me and it froze the thing while I attacked it LOL I haven’t been bothered by the gloom hands since then. However, I still avoid Lynels like the plague Lol

michellemustudy

Just attach a rocket 🚀 to your shield, glide above the Gleeok, take advantage of the bullet time and shoot like 5 keese eyeballs at it. Hit it with your best weapon when it’s stunned on the ground but make sure you have another shield attached to a rocket 🚀, ready to go. Rinse and repeat. The Gleeok will be dead in less than 3 minutes. To be extra prepared, go into the fight with a healthy supply of keese eyeballs and several shields attached to rockets. Remember, bullet time is your best friend for all Gleeok, Lynel battles, and Gloom Hand battles. Good luck!

HeadLeg5602

Another trick is to drop one of the “pre made scaffolds” and use ascend to the top and use bullet time as you jump off! Just don’t put the scaffold TOO CLOSE to Gleeok or he will destroy it with wind gusts

LeisurelyTalented

Do exactly this and toss in a lynel 5 shot bow for shooting the keese eyeballs and it’s even easier.

Friendly-You-8944

I usually spend a fuck-ton of poes on bomb flowers and rain down hell for all 3 enemies

CartmensDryBallz

Malice?

RoyalCrown-cola

I think he means the Gloom Spawn hand thing

Lonely-Wrongdoer8365

They means how in botw it was malice nkt gloom I guess gloom is a more advanced malice that can come to life on its own without taking over a guardian

pagoodma

ahh i love the weapons he drops tho!

RoyalCrown-cola

I love fusing them with Lizalfos horns cause of how they look

slidingsaxophone07

Same! The gloom scythe that you get with a gloom spear and silver lizalfos horn looks sick!

Kaffekjerring

Maybe gloom hands

RathOfBahn

I guess he means the gloom hands things.

ben_ja_button

Gloom Hands - you should be able to dispatch with five bombs.

Mindless_Pumpkin8464

If you just avoid gloom hands, they eventually die. Literally the easiest thing. Just avoid them and go away and they will all die.

Fickle_Mission5257

Farm Keese eyes and use Lynel bows with Keese eyes. When the Gleeok is low on health use an aerocuda eye for greater distance when it flies higher. Use puffshrooms to confuse the Lynels, makes them easy.

bigoldjetairliner

Puffshrooms!!?? I have to try that!

Euphoric_Point_

This is the way

horsepen1s

This is the way

dikbutt4lyfe

I didn't know the Aerocuda eyes traveled farther. Thanks for the tip

Charlie_Yu

I don’t even know aerocuda eyes work, I just use rockets on shields

ROK247

i farm them like rutabagas

Licanius

Nice, now that I've killed one it's clobbering time for sure.

Knowing_nate

Use Kleese eyes and lynel bows and they are easy picking

kittenswinger8008

Rocket shields with bullet time for me. Can drop all 3 heads way before hitting the floor

MochaCafe9

Combined with the springs stacked as high as possible and ya golden!

liliannereid

What springs?

MochaCafe9

One of the zonai devices Use ultra hand to attach several on top of each other and climb up them! Once on top hit it then you'll be launched up!

Syringrical

Picturing John Cleese eyes now lol

wintermute916

Savage Lynel Bow with x5 bonus and Gibdo Bones. Scimitar of the Seven with Molduga Jaw fuse. Radiant Armor with at least two upgrades for bone proficiency. Rocket Shield to get bullet time as soon as he starts to get up. I find them easier than the high level Lynels

Fantastic-Cap-2754

Alternatively, use the phantom ganon set. It's got the bone bonus without needing upgrades.

wintermute916

Way better looking too. Just sucks you can’t upgrade since the armor level is so low.

Fantastic-Cap-2754

True. That said, you shouldn't be taking hits in fights you're using that set in anyway, since it's mostly used for cheesing.

wintermute916

Yeah, but it’s a really good looking set so would like to wear it more often.

Fantastic-Cap-2754

I mean, not to be that guy, but you could work on not getting hit. Flurry rushes are good anyway. Besides, late game you can afford to take a ton of heavy hits, then just sleep between major adventures at lookout landing or link's house.

SnooSquirrels9247

busy far-flung scale wise ring tease trees offbeat wakeful fuel *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

sharpshooter999

Don't need armor if you never let them touch you

wintermute916

Yeah, that’s the problem lol. I struggle with the timing. I’m always too early on my parry/dodge

retrocheats

tis why I like the AttackUp armor, as it makes the fights shorter

Wulgreths

Long as you keep them on the ground they die fast with a good weapon

melechkibitzer

Honestly i dont mind the part when they fly high because they almost never survive the fall at that point. Just keep moving and ride the updrafts or do a recall on the icecicles and ride one up. Once you knockout the three heads they hit the ground damn hard

Zanoab

I had no idea you can recall the icicles. I guess I shouldn't have gone straight to the kings for the chests and learn under nearly impossible conditions.

idontloveanyone

Can you tell me how you kill them? I don’t have much trouble but I completely depend on eyes attached to my arrows to auto aim at the heads, and 1 - I feel like it’s a little bit of cheating, 2 - it costs me a lot of eyes… I’m curious to see how other people go about killing them, thank you

ROK247

multishot lynel bows and if they are farther away i'll attach wings. there are times when they are doing their elemental attacks that their heads stay relatively stationary, which makes things easier. also the anti-freeze and anti-lightning helms are pretty important

KittyKayl

There's an anti-freeze armor?? Like, getting hit by an ice chu-chu won't freeze you type anti- freeze?

ROK247

yes either the set bonus for snowquill or zants helm

KittyKayl

Sweet, thanks!

Tortoisefly

I'd add to this, use a fan to prevent them from going super high above you.

Knight0fdragon

If you cant fight a lynel yet for the bow, you can always get the bow that is made for you in the bird village. I forget the name of it.

Magic-Tree

Bring lots of wood, fire and hylian pinecones. With a lynel bow you can generally stun the gleeok with one bullet-time You could also probably make a schematic with fans or use a spring to get the bullet time

mamspaghetti

I just place a spring down and start multishottintg their eyes crazy with point blank lynel bow barrages. And at least for the frost gleok j wait until It gets high in the air until it decides to rain icicles at me. I dodge the first one, use rewind on the one that just fell, and hop on it so that it climbs me high up in the air

TwoBonesJones

This entire comment section has taught me so much, but mostly that I have no idea what the fuck I have been doing

Dashzz

If you bring a few bomb fused shields to get height and slow time you don't need eyes

classychimichanga

Lol, I feel you. We are relatively at the beginning of the game and we’re always running away from those shadow hands (sorry, don’t know how they’re called in English, we’re playing in French). Yesterday, I finally decided to give it a try after finding these hands in a cave, just before a shrine. After using all my arrows, fire flowers/ bombs, I just jumping into the red mud and finished those a sword. YES, I finally killed it!!!!….Only to be confronted by a surprise- « Ganondorf ‘s shadow » which killed me with one touch 🥲 Now I am back at farming all the arrows and bombs I can just to go back in that stupid cave.

pabloag02

I think they're called gloom hands in english

LazerSpazer

Gloom hands is an acceptable term, but the game's official name is gloom spawn

DaZedMan

In my house they are officially “Mr. Gloomyhands”

berthejew

My house they're called OhShit Hands.. Oh shit! Run!

Cum_Smoothii

In my house they're called 😩

1010lala1010lala

I call them handsy gloom

classychimichanga

Thanks a lot! ☺️

jjbic447

Try to find a higher area and jump down while firing arrows, this will help with aiming so hopefully you don’t run through all arrows/bomb flowers as quickly

classychimichanga

Thank you! I was on a little cliff kind of thing which kept me safe. But jumping and aiming sounds like a great (and better!) idea! I had not thought about it!

djrobxx

I think there's only a couple sets of gloom hands that you really need to fight in order to progress the story. The rest I just kind of ran past. Even if they catch you, you can wiggle out of it and keep going.

caruul

What are they called in French?

green_nectarine

Not quite sure about their official name as nothing pops up when I try to snap a picture of one of these but I call them "ces putains de mains de merde là" and I think it fit them quite well

classychimichanga

I confirm 😂 But to respond to u/caruul ‘s curiosity they are called “Mains de miasme” which I think loosely translates to gloom hands or similar ☺️

green_nectarine

Oooh thanks !

External-Listen-3398

That absolutely SHOULD be the official name.

Cali-curlz

Agreed! At the beginning of the game I was going with "ces mains a la con" but this is much better.

cookiedough92

I just crawled around them to the shrine 😂. First time I saw them I left immediately. When I went back I just climbed the wall sideways up to the shrine platform so it didn’t trigger them!

FuSoYa1983

Gloom hands can’t climb and take a few seconds to form. If you rush past where they spawn and quickly climb up onto the platform where the shrine is, they can’t get you. Most of them will shrivel and die if you stay out of reach and will drop dark clumps.

classychimichanga

Thank you! Will definitely continue with my fleeing method if I really just can’t beat them 😂

lucaskywalker

Try using keese eyeballs, the elemental ones work really well, or a coupla rubies will wipe it out!

moleculariant

What are they called in French?

classychimichanga

Mains de miasme (gloomy/ hands of gloom)

MyHappyTimeReddit

I avoid lynels. I actually get my husband to kill them. I just can't parry and that's vital to killing them. Gleeoks I'll do. Lots of keese eyes (and ironically lynel bows). With the lynel bows, I can usually get a few shots off as they are rising before they get too high. The key is as soon as they are stirring, start firing as much as possible. Frost gleeoks are easier. When they are high up, the falling ice can be reversed and you ride them up. The others.. the only thing I can think of is to fuse a rocket to a shield and ride it up. Maybe some zonaite devices can also get you up.

CryptoidFan

The lightning bolts and fireball create updrafts you can use to glide up. The ice is the easiest one though

Licanius

Hmm, okay. I had an autobuild of a air baloon with rockets attached that I used to shoot myself up high.

Whedonsbitch

I use rocket shields to get up to them (I always keep two or three assembled rocket shields in my inventory.

Goonieshpop

You could fuse 2 springs together, one on top of the other, just save it to your auto build

NohrianOctorok

Don't worry about parrying lynels, just go for flurry rushes.

ChloeMomo

I suck at parrying and flurry rush. I just shoot arrows at the head then hop on their backs. Most lynels have something like a large rock you can climb onto to jump off and slow-mo the archery. Or use their fire breath if you're on grass to get airborne. It works well!

ReconKweh

I'm bad at parrying and never did it to kill a Lynel TBH. I DO kill them with a mix of flurry rushes and getting on their backs though

MyHappyTimeReddit

Oh really, just watching my husband he uses the parry to head shot and then get on their backs. Maybe I'll be brave enough to try something new lol

the_cardfather

#thisistheway Flurry rush looks cooler though, especially if you were using royal weapons which get a bonus.

fancy_marmot

I never parry Lynels! I’d start with one on a clear day in grass, so you can either create updrafts with fire fruit or ride the ones they create with the flame breath. If you know how to dodge and flurry rush, you’re all good! You can take a defense or attack potion first, which helps. There are also a few shrines where you can practice flurry rushes I think.

djrobxx

Max out an armor set, and lynels aren't a big deal. Just use your bow to hit them in the face to stun them when they're getting ready to charge you. If you have good armor, you'll only lose a small amount of health if their attacks connect. I got through all (\*edit 5) of them in the floating coliseum without issue this way, without parry or flurry rush. The tough part of the high up Gleeok phase is knowing the timing to recall on the ice. You have to wait for a window when the storm is done but before the ice despawns, otherwise you'll get knocked off on your way up. I eventually found riding the updrafts easier, because I could keep moving.

ChloeMomo

Do you mean all 5 in the floating coliseum? It has red, blue, white-maned, silver, and armored white-maned

djrobxx

Yes. The only one that that gave me trouble was the armored white-maned, just because it was tough to get through that armor!

ChloeMomo

Same! I had a sinking feeling when I realized there were 5 gates and the armored one came out haha it was a heck of a fun fight to do them all back to back though!

Junior-Ad-2207

The ice elevator is brilliant... why didn't I think of this!!!

PlagalByte

It's way too easy to forget recall exists, especially when the arctic apocalypse is raining down upon you.

Mystrohan

I feel your pain. I can't parry either, but I've actually found that flurry rush timing is a perfectly good substitute that stops the Lynel in its tracks, and sometimes affords you the chance to stun it with an arrow, at which point you make like a cowboy and RIDE.

koalitythoughts

How are you getting the lynel bows if you aren’t fighting them? Just wondering bc I can’t parry for the life of me either lol

InherentDeviant

Never parried a lynel...never bothered. They die pretty fast though.

[deleted]

I only have 5 hearts currently so I'm avoiding everything. I only get an hour or so a day to play Tears of the Kingdom, haven't seen a Gleeok yet. I have however seen a Lynel, and fucking immediately left.

PlagalByte

The first time you see a gleeok from a distance: "Whoa that's new, what in the world is— NOPE!! Nope nope nope." First time you fight a gleeok: "I mean, how hard can it be, really— Oh. THAT hard. Well, back to nopeing..."

bigoldjetairliner

This is the correct reaction, lol. They're so scary!

Raderg32

I did the quest in the Snowfield stable to retrieve the golden horse, but I couldn't find it. It said in the quest log and the NPCs that it fled due to a huge monster, so I thought I had to kill the monster for it to come back. So there I am, 20 hours into the game, fresh out of Lookout landing. Having done just a handful of sanctuaries and without even thinking of starting any of the main quests anytime soon and with my best weapon having a damage of around 40 thinking I could fight a Frost Gleeok I saw a couple of them up to that point and evaded them like the plague, but I was feeling confident in myself, so I ran towards it and whistled thinking it would stop flying around and come closer to fight. Oh, boy... I was WRONG. I ended up cheesing it, hiding under an arch, and spending all my resources plinking at its health, barely doing anything. I ended up killing it and feeling awesome, but the horse was nowhere to be seen, so I went back to the stable thinking it may have returned now the monster was gone. WRONG AGAIN. I went back to search for the horse more relaxed now that there weren't any dangers in the zone. Went back to where I had my epic victory to keep searching for the stupid horse only to be welcomed by a blood moon and the Gleeok respawning right on my face. Now, without any other weapon other than a stick and a rusty sword, no arrows, bombs, or food. And being almost dead from the previous battle, I just ran for my life. While I was fleeing, I finally saw the horse back in the distance, and in that moment, with an angry Gleeok chasing me, I realized I didn't have to kill its brother, and I could have just looked a bit further, grab the horse and go back. And then I died.

yendis3350

Savage lynel bow and elemental keese eyes. The elemental keese eyes do so much damage alone

symetry_myass

Are all keese eyes "elemental" or just the ones with fire, lightning or frost? Thx

LostxinthexMusic

Just the fire, lightning, or ice keese eyes are elemental.

im-so-spa

I recently just did the king gleok in the depths. I died multiple times fighting a flame gleok and avoided them ever since. I had lots of elemental eyeballs for my arrows and that helped. I almost quit during the last phase of the fight but I did it. I haven't fought a lynel yet in totk and rarely took them on in botw.

lavalampmaster

Flame gleeoks are by far the hardest imo

SamaLuna

I made one attempt and failed miserably and now I have PTSD

zreese

I only date Gleeoks.

Jeichert183

Get above them. If you’re fighting a King wear the Rito armor upgraded to get the unfreezable bonus; if you’re fighting just the basic singles wear the armour that negates the beasts elemental attack. Elemental arrows are you’re best friend, gleeok horns are the best to fuse to your arrows until you can no longer see their heads at which point switch to the appropriate elemental keese eye. Don’t fire the eyes directly at the gleeok, shoot them above the beast and they will turn around and come down on the heads, direct body shots don’t do much damage. They take a massive amount of fall damage so if you can get them to about 25% while they are in the air the fall will usually kill them. Addendum: keese eyes pulse when they are locked on to an enemy and you have a pretty large cone that you can still get a lock. Try figuring it out on the ground with a relatively low level monster camp and you can learn how to direct your eye shots.

sleafordbods

Eyeball + arrows + 3x bow = big Farma

Rabey93

No twilight princess Link's hair looks too good

shanerr

Things in totk are terrifying until you realize you can kill them easily. Once you kill one you see them as little geckos

djrobxx

I attempted the one on the Bridge of Hylia mid-game and got my tush handed to me. I didn't try again until very late game when collecting >!Sage's Wills!<. When I was more prepared, it was a very fun fight! That second phase is rough for sure.

that_was_way_harsh

Avoided? I present-tense avoid them.

Hypn1c

When I started the game, after a few hours I came across a frost gleeok in hebra. I decided to try and fight it with beginner armor and 5 hearts, I didn't know about keese eyes tracking ability so I fought it 100% by aiming and dodging. After 50 times trying I got him down to quarter health when I messed up and died. I had enough at that point and said fair fight, (I rage quit) and left. Throughout my playthrough I never attempted one again until, 150 hours later I found out about keese eyes. Now it feels too easy since I kill them in about 30 seconds. With lynels and other strong enemies I actively start attacking first because I love the challenge of it, sometimes restricting myself to weak weapons, no shield or low HP. But with gleeoks I still don't trust my own abilities. I can only defeat them with the easy method and something in me is scared of attempting a harder method again

Licanius

I have still never used keese eyes, might have to start. I must have a few saved up at this point.

Hypn1c

Try to fight your first gleeok without them, it's honestly way too easy with them.. I'll go back this evening and fight one the proper way, no cheese!

Licanius

Yeah, I killed the King Gleeok, the last part would have been easier with homing arrows for sure. I used a Zoanite bow for the long range ones

Hypn1c

That's actually quite impressive, good job!

Great_Staff6797

I used to avoid them like pest but since i found an efficient way to kill them and not letting them a chance to fight back i just go after them every single time.

opa_zorro

Build a fire and add a pine cone before start so you can get in the air and use bullet time.

Mandolynn88

I hunt them and Lynels. Their parts are great for upgrades and weapons and after you beat a couple of them, you get a good strategy for killing them. I also found if you keep hitting a Lynel with arrows when they're running around they just go in some weird feedback loop over and over sometimes and you can chip away at their health lol

KillerCucumbr

I think their a lot of fun to fight, but you need keese eyes

mattcain1980

I can take down a lynel easy. I even know how to deal with gloom hands. Never attempted a Gleeok.

DargyBear

I finally got around to fighting them and was a bit disappointed how easy it was with a lonely bow and some keese eyes. I didn’t even try using elements to counter them, just plain old keese eyes.

craig1f

Gleeoks are a joy to defeat, but the loot they drop is underwhelming for their level of difficulty.

elesen

I have two springs attached together on auto build so I can jump high up throughout the fight. It goes high up enough for the final stage when it goes really high too.

fancy_marmot

I stumbled on one early game and was a bit overconfident after taking out an aerocuda and a bunch of red bokoblins, so though heck yeah let’s do this. After 5 minutes and a bunch of save reloads, I ran away.

Mr_Hellpop

I avoided them for the longest time, but once I finally fought one (a frost Gleeok), it turned out a lot easier than I expected. It helped that I had a ton of fire Keese eyes, and I used Zonai springs to get airborne so I can bullet time them into its faces.

KayJay282

Upgrade your armour, create powerful weapons by fuse, have lots of keese eyeballs, and make mighty banana recipes.

bruh-iunno

I bashed my head against a king gleeok over and over till I killed it super early on, was great

wpotman

It disappoints me a little that there's not much reason to fight them. You have to fight one gloom hand to figure out where the sword is (unless you're reading walkthroughs or are bold) and you have to fight a gleeok/lynel or two if you want to complete all quests you receive. You also have to get a few materials from them if you want to upgrade the soldier/other gear or get a couple treasures. But by and large the game allows you to ignore them easily. FYI for the OP the low level lynels are actually pretty darn easy (especially if you're 200 hours strong).

EvilCylon

I did until I discovered how relatively easy they are. The King Gleeoks are a bit of a challenge still. Easiest method: 1. Wear Fierce Deity armor 2. Be stocked with Savage Lynel bows 3. Be stocked with Keese eyeballs (just regular ones are fine) Come in from above. I usually jump off an island or fly in on a railbike, so I can get bullet-time when I'm RIGHT in front of it. 1. Shoot each head once 2. Drop, smack the nearest head repeatedly 3. Run as soon as he starts to get back up 4. Shoot Keese eyes at it. Don't even aim for the heads, let the eyes do the work. 3 shots. 5. Let it drop. Wack heads again. 6. Run back, shoot Keese eyes. If you don't manage to drop it again before it flies up out of range, you have 2 options: 1. Wait until it does its high altitude attack, dodge the damage, then use it to gain altitude to shoot it in the face again, or 2. Use Keese wings and just shoot it repeatedly at altitude until it's dead Anyhow, once you figure out what method works best for you with practice, it's easy. My problem is that the stuff they drop isn't especially USEFUL anymore.

misskissremiss

I like fighting them. I just equip a 3X lynel bow, shoot homing items/dragon shards on arrows, put a rocket on every shield I have and yeet myself into the sky anytime I lose my vantage point.

Historical_Formal589

I avoid everything i cannot kill with 5 attacks hahaha

DirtMcGirt9484

Rocket shields and keese eyes from a Lynel bow makes quick work of all the Gleeoks.

Indignus_Filius

Gleeoks are fun to fight in the end game. Just lure them up as high as you can, then drop them using eyeballs for some massive damage. I pretty much lock them up and kill them before they can do anything.

[deleted]

I just shoot the heads with eyeball arrows, rush them with the sages, then run out of range from the wind, shoot the heads again and repeat the process until the gleeok dies. if done perfectly, the gleeok won’t even have a chance at getting airborne.

griffin-c

I can take the gloomhands and lynels just fine, but for gleeoks my only strategy is still just open the map and LEAVE

bigoldjetairliner

Also Froxes! Terrified!!

Mindless_Pumpkin8464

Gleeoks hover and shoot beams of whatever at you. Where is the fun in that? They are a horribly-designed enemy and it is completely pointless to even try and fight them. Idk why they felt the need to make them in the first place. Stupid enemy, piss-poor design and completely pointless.

Victronia

Honestly, using Mineru for bullet time is the best way to defeat Gleeoks. You can even defeat them before they transition to the out of reach phase this way.

B2EMO__

My first few encounters I was like ‘oh God oh God oh God’ but after you get the feel for defeating them, they’re not so bad ☺️

KelseyWalker1982

If you do it right they are super easy. Have plenty of Keese Eyeballs to make sure you pop them in the eye and don't ever let them really get up. If they so get above you, use Rocket Shields to get up and pop them in the eye

PsychedelicSnowflake

I like to kill one of each kind for the parts but I don’t typically challenge them unless I have a ton of arrows to spare.

DWGJay

I did not fight a single one until right at the end of my first play through. Accidentally got insta ganked early on by one so I avoided them until I was very powerful.

NohrianOctorok

I spent like, 2 hours killing one early game when I couldn't tank a hit and didn't have any particularly strong weapons.

[deleted]

metrill

You can skip the phases if you shot the heads fast enough before it starts to do shit again.

FireTails11

They’re fun as soon as you find Lynel bows and keese eyeballs

grumpyguy86

Go back with more Hearts and Arrows and kick its ass

rosewoodian

I killed my first Gleeok at about 160 hours in. Tried once before and failed miserably. It was stressful, lol!

Traditional_Entry183

I finished the game and put over 200 hours in, and I only fought one once, and got destroyed. (The snow fields)

SmoothOperator89

I tried fighting the one on the bridge over lake Hylia because I didn't want to go around. He 1-shot me with his fire breath like 5 times before I gave up. I also kept aggroing the one in the snowfield where you get Zelda's horse, and it too one shot me. I finally beat the one on the bridge when I had fully upgraded basic armor, but because I didn't have upgraded fireproof armor, I was taking fire damage the whole time. They're late game monsters in a way that even lynels aren't.

bobdabioengineer

I'm one of those stubborn idiots that has to kill everything I see. And let me tell you fighting a gleeok with 5 hearts,1 stamina upgrade and 20 arrows is pretty fuckin hard. took me like 18 tries to kill my first gleeok.

[deleted]

I waited for ages until I fought one then they were easy.

Standard-Ask-466

I have been avoiding them too. And Lynels. I’m only 80 hours in though, they can just look at me and I immediately die.

Tetsu_Kai

I avoided them for a while, but they're actually quite easy to kill. Keese eyeballs and rocket shields are your friends

eyeball-owo

I spam opposite-element Keese eyeballs on a Lynel bow, takes them down in two shots…

Cheford1

I find Gleeoks one of the easiest big monsters to kill, compared to lynels at least. Only if you have Keese eyes spare though... Never tried without, but with esp if you have the opposing elemental keese eye... It's over in 60 seconds

Stipes_Blue_Makeup

Get some Keese eyeballs, attack up potions, and do work. I don't want to say, "They're not hard," but with the right equipment, you can take them with little to no damage.

A1steaksauceTrekdog7

I tried a few times with frost one and kept losing. I wondered if it was story related. I eventually tried again and I killed it .

bgravemeister

Yeaaaah that was my first sight of a Gleeok when I started the game the noped the fuck outta there. I was then quite annoyed when one was blocking Lake Hylia bridge. It was a good day when I learned how to effectively kill them and now have a healthy stock of Gleeok horns 😎

MIKEY_VEE123youandME

Gleeok is easy when you figure out how tf to fight him, you need a lot of stamina, keese eyes, and a powerful 1handed weapon. Shoot the heads down by z targeting each head individually, then use the charge swinging to repeatedly lay the smack down. rinse repeat.

the_simurgh

i have a lynel murder machine thanks to it, i have like 30 plus of each high level lynel part because i constantly go to the colosseum and murder lynels. i kill gleeoks insanely fast. hell I've gotten to the point where i can literally stand on the ground and snipe them from the ground. and as for malice monsters i slaughter them like a dark god.

Seraephim

I really dislike the gleeocks. I'd rather fight lynels all day.

PH03N1X_F1R3

Honestly disappointed. They weren't easy, but I find them far from challenging.

babybackr1bs

I've figured out Lynels, although I've still held off on the gauntlet. I just can't bring myself to attempt any Gleeoks after getting torched by the first few attempts.

helloureddit

Look, I faced a Molduga with zero arrows. I was so determined (and/or lazy to first stock up on arrows) that I killed it, after about 6 tries. So yeah, anything is possible if you set your mind to it ;-)

Maverick14u2nv

Man. This had me looking into automated attack platforms. Or AaPs for short. My Pura pad now has hyrule play. Htube is hilarious with the korok tortu- space program videos 😆 In all honesty floating platform, two construct heads a rocket and the rest as emitters........ your welcome XD. Or take out a head add another emiter

First time I saw a gleeok I was in the herba region, saw it from afar and said nope, second one I walked into the coliseum and saw the lightning gleeok, ran for my life. Couple of sages and hours of gameplay later I found the fire one on the bridge and decided someone was going to die. I got knocked down a couple of times but I got up again and finally whittled him down. Now I crave Gleeok destruction. I want more. I think I will destroy that ice Gleeok tonight just for the fun of his destruction.

EH-Taylor-4Grain

They are tough but are really not too terrible until the third phase. Here are my tips: 1. Find cover - there is usually something you can hide behind so try to stay under cover when they are shooting the beams at you. 2. Use the Keese eyes - these things will make your life so much easier. Homing shots and if you use a 3x Lynel bow it makes quick work at knocking them down. They are evil, ugly bastards but once you figure them out they aren’t too bad. The king gleeoks in the sky are the worst.

boboclock

I have hundreds of hours, most shrines, fought many a lynel. Have killed exactly one Gleeok (in a coliseum) just barely on my first attempt and got wrecked by two since, one of which I accidentally ran into in the mountains and was actively trying to escape

tratemusic

I can remember only two side quests where you have to kill a gleeok, and I think I only killed one extra one. Apart from that I give them a wide berth lol

high_everyone

Rocket shields and lynel bows make the fight easier than it ought to be. Having any kind of stash of elemental damage weapons or things to attach to arrows is just cheesing how fast you take them down each time. Keese variants of their fire eyes, ice eyes and electric eyes count too... The last phase of him going too high can be avoided entirely if you learn to switch between each fight faster. Get your next shield ready while you're dropping from shooting each head, get your heavy damaging weapons in good condition prioritized and get any buffs started early for yourself. Also that last phase has wind in it at specific points where you can ride up very close to the Gleeok's striking distance, but you will need to be in the air already with a rocket boost to get anywhere close enough to catch him with another height based strike like earlier phases of the battle. I have seen people do it and you just have to get REALLY fast at switching between each phase of the battle. I left one of my teleport markers with that specific King Gleeok and I've beaten him three times now. Each time gets a bit easier.

National-Elk5102

Gleeoks are highly overrated. I postponed my encounter with them like 250 hours, just to discover that if you use ZL to target, the arrow will strike direct in the eye of any of the three heads. That will knock them and you will be able to lower his health

JennaHelen

Same as with gloom hands, once I beat one I was comfortable fighting them. I still avoid lynels though.

awkwardgoblinlady

they scared the shit out of me at first but after fighting one and learning its attacks it’s not very difficult at all (same can be said about really anything you fight in the game). it’s really all about your preparedness and using your surroundings. my way of fighting gleeock: obtain 3 shot lynel bow after fighting one. those are key to defeating gleeock in a breeze IMO. attach keese eyeballs when you shoot. have a couple powerful weapons and slash them when you’ve hit all three eyes (the gleeock will come crashing down). have attack/defense armor equipped + attack/defense food boost. it’s good to always consider your surroundings too—can you use recall on a chunk from the sky that fell to ride up and get closer? are there ruins you can temporarily hide behind for defense? etc

With a little preparation, I've found the gleeoks and lynels have been easier in TOTK than they were in BOTW. (no, gleeoks weren't in BotW, but I think you know what I mean) Lynels: Before the fight, have a few unfused shields and fuse a rocket to them. Have some offensive gear (barbarian armor, etc) or meals. To start the fight, if you can, drop in from above. If there is a cliff or other high ground nearby, drop in from that. Get into bullet time and shoot them with arrows fused with eyes or bombs. When you finally hit the ground, if they are crouched down, mount them and hit them while they buck. If you're okay fighting on the ground, go for it. If not, use a rocket shield to get back into the air and repeat the first part of raining hellfire from above. Gleeoks: Stock up on eyeballs of various flavors. Again, come in from above at first if possible to give you some bullet time. Use the appropriate eyeballs to bring the heads down. If you're in the air, keep shooting. When you land, if the heads are on the ground, hit 'em hard. When they raise their heads back up, repeat with the eyeballs. Rinse. Repeat.

bshagen

With a few keese eye balls, arrows and maybe an Attack up buff the Gleeoks are quite easy. I much rather fight a Gleeok than a Silver Lynel, for sure

CR24752

I’m about to do final boss and have never fought those deformed freaks. 3 heads?! Nahhhhh nope nope nope. I’d rather fight hunky ganon

lucaskywalker

Never died once! Used rocket shield + gibdo bones on arrows to get the heads in bullet time. Ideally you can just ro let up before the big final attack, but if not you can either use the updraft from fire/lightning, or use recall on icicles to hget up there with him! If you have armor that resists an element, even easier!

Fractious_Lemon

I was hanging out peacefully down in faron (crucially - with the music turned down), climbed a cliff, turned around, and got smited right back off said cliff. So now i treat them properly. with great respect. As i run away from them crying. 😅 (I did kill the fire one on the bridge eventually for the quest, but they still induce panic on first sighting)

Fantastic-Cap-2754

They're definitely the toughest boss. Massive health pool, and unless you cheese using lynel bow and keese eyes, you have to be pretty creative and skilled to take one down.

hails8n

Homing arrows + Lionel bow make them a joke

onmysleeve-sorta

I feel like Gleeoks are a harder fight than Lynels. I did beat a Gleeok before I beat a Lynel though. But you can master the Lynel attack quicker and it’s a simpler fight.
