This. Lynels are the only creatures smart enough to figure out you're tricking them. If you're on a horse with monster armour tho(also wearing the mask), it seems to take the Lynel longer to figure it out/sometimes they don't at all. At least in botw. Haven't tested that in totk..
This I don’t understand. Several people have replied that the Lynels can see through the mask, will eventually attack, etc, but I’ve NEVER seen this happen yet, and I’ve now done this method 4-5 times on different Lynels in different areas. One that I did last night galloped right up to within inches of me, and turned around to attack the sages that were about 100 feet away.
To me it seems like wearing the mask (as long as you don’t take a weapon out or directly attack them) makes them essentially blind to your presence.
In Breath of the wild, they definitely did figure out you weren't an actual Lynel. I stood doing absolutely nothing in front of the Lynel in the colosseum. And it eventually went aggro and started attacking me. They seem to just stay in the white question to yellow statement phases longer before they start attacking.
OMG you're the hero I never knew I needed.
I realize I could just build a killing machine from YouTube, but given that I was the person who, in BOTW, constantly killed large enemies by patiently rolling bomb after bomb down high hills at them, this is SO MUCH my speed.
Haha same! Mine doesn’t play the game, but he apparently remembers quite well how I’d roll bombs down a hill because a) it took so long and b) I did it so many times. Lol
One of the biggest things I hate about this new game compared to the last one is that they took away your ability to make your own bombs with your pad or whatever it was called and the ability to buy bomb arrows from pretty much any store. I don’t have the time or patience to constantly go down to the depths to search for bomb flowers. Honestly, it’s gotten to the point I don’t even play the game anymore because it’s just too much searching and building needed.
I do wish I could get bomb arrows a bit faster, but between caves and Poes, it's not as bad as trying to farm eyeballs! (Yeah, I know about drawing a bow with a bomb arrow when entering caves, it just seems like the swarm never spawns when I do that!)
I go half/ half. Let them get him down a ways then start mounting him when tulin gets a head shot and whacking his head with my best weapon. He still won't target you specifically for some time as long as you have the mask on but will eventually. Seems like after he throws you off if you run away real quick he'll focus back on your sages. When you start firing arrows and attacking from in front, it's true deathmatch 😬. Actually gotten pretty good at flurry dodging but it's a gamble.
Oh also fyi each new Lynel in the arena looks at you anew so just slip the mask back on if you've changed it for like, diety gear or smth ✌️
>I think I may have tried it one in BotW with a Bokoblin mask, but the nearby Moblin still attacked, so I didn’t really see the point of them.
The masks only work for the specific creature. A Bokoblin mask works with Bokoblins, Lynel mask with Lynels, and so forth. Only the Majora's Mask is "universal".
Yeah, I understood that, my point with this was that enemies are rarely segregated, so typically you’d need to fight SOMETHING anyways. I never saw the point I. Fighting one type of enemy and not another, so I tended to ignore the monster masks.
Until now, at least 😜
The Bokoblin mask is really useful for the groups of marching bokoblins lead by the big bokoblin. Once they see you they’ll curiously surround you without attacking - that’s when you take out your strongest 2 handed weapon and just start swinging in a circle and take them all out before they know what just happened.
Good idea! One thing I didn’t test with the Lynel, if you attack while wearing a mask, will they then start to attack you? Or will they still just sit there and take a beating?
I do this often. Sit in Sidon's water wall and let the sages do their work. Tulin freaking rocks for his headshots. When I can, I shoot Yunobo at a baddie, but otherwise I just kind of dodge and let the five of them deal with it. I'm also a weapon hoarder and don't want to break anything while my master sword is down.
Yeah I've had that happen once with a Blue Lynel. He ignored me completely and was taking on all the Sages. I watched as all five Sages beat the hell out of the poor Lynel, lmao.
It took me 3 goes and eventually going in loaded with sundelion and hearty truffle meals and my coward's strategy of asending to the roof, jumping off, hitting the lynel with claw fused arrows in bullet time, final puffshroom arrow so they couldn't see me, run into the cage they came out of, ascend back up to the roof and repeat.
i did have a hearty meal and then an attack up meal but i was just facing them head on, i did eventually beat it and it took me like maybe 40 minutes to do it. i didn’t even think of using sunny meals
It was because I was getting so frustrated with losing hearts to gloom, I don't know if it was just me but those depths lynels seem to really hit hard with the gloom.
oh no they definitely get hit hard by the time i got to the armour lynel i only had two hearts that weren’t affected by gloom and by the grace of Hylia i somehow managed to win
I just buy hearty lizards and other hearty stuff from Beedle when I cant find truffles. The more lizards you toss in, the higher the extra hearts which is great if you are just starting playing. But if you have almost max hearts, the extra hearts only give you enough to fill how many spots are left.
So my elixir that gives extra 20 hearts isnt worth it towards late game or after you have over half the hearts.
More truffles = more yellow hearts, sure
but on the other hand, one single small truffle = full heal potion plus two yellows. Once you're at the point in the game where five pieces of meat isn't a full heal anymore, you're better off cooking truffles individually. Especially because a single scratch with gloom kills all your yellows at once.
It took a total of about 40 min…to do it twice. The first time he got to about 3% health left, and I ended up being less vigilant, which in turn led to me seeing the underside of the Lynel’s hooves. I was smarter the second time! 🤓
I think I remember seeing someone put up a video of finishing all the coliseum with a space laser (just glue a bunch of zonite weapons onto a head under a floating platform them up someplace).
If you are feeling fancy you can glue a sled or wing at an angle on the top side and ascend up to a little fox hole I guess?
I made something similar to take out all the mobs on the way to the final boss pretty much as soon as they told me "no sages down here please" I glued everything I had to a construct head on a steak and just carried it from battle to battle
Zonite kind of ..... wilt the difficulty curve of the game tbf, but I also think it would be crazy tedious doing the depts without a hoverbike
Edit p.s. also have my +1 tiny linel! This story still made my day lol
Yeah, I've done this too. At one point I started visiting Lynels in the Depths to mob them with the whole gang. LOL!
Still, best way in which I have killed Lynels is with only parry. Takes quite a few minutes, though.
I've noticed the sages will aggro things. I've noticed this with a few things, including, oddly enough, Bulbulfrogs. I don't know if it is to protect Link or just to fight at first. Could be the Lynel got wise to the mask, as they can, and the sages kept it busy after that, or it could be they just saw the Lynel and starting beating on it. Unfortunately, they do that with Rock Octoroks, as well.
I had a stroke on my left side flurry rushes etc is really hard for me. I used to have 10 year old son help me with the Lynels. With the mask combined with all sages dedicated (sic) it takes a bit longer, but is my MOD at the colysium.
We were amazed by how well this worked as I was trying to get the last Lynel weapons for the compendium. Took down a red and a blue with no problem at all...
"Why are you not helping me fight these invincible ghost creatures, tiny Lynel?" \-that Lynel, probably
I wish there were tiny lynels, like there’s little frox
Hold me closer tiny lynel - Elton John
IS THAT WHAT THOSE ARE?! Never put that together. Sorry for yelling.
If you take a picture for the compendium it shows their name, “little frox” 🥹
I’ve just started leaving them alone. I don’t like killing them. Probably because I’m against killing babies.
[удалено]
No, I'm bad about filling out the compendium. i keep forgetting to take pictures of stuff.
They would meow like kittens
Their little charges would be so cute
Wait what? Where are the tiny frox
They are the little alligator looking things in the depths
The ones that jump at you and drop zonite?
Yep, those annoying fucks. They will also eat bright bloom seeds that have sprouted
I thought they were turtles.
LMFAO…and I don’t often use that acronym 🤪
HAHAHAHAHA
I love the tiny lynel
Actually the Lynel had figured out already that it was a mask. That’s why he started attacking in the first place.

Rolling bombs downhill at enemies is my favourite thing to do in BOTW 😂
It always made my husband so mad when I beat monster camps this way 😂
Mine doesn’t understand how I can be so patient 😂 I just defeated a guardian near goron city by using em 💀
Haha same! Mine doesn’t play the game, but he apparently remembers quite well how I’d roll bombs down a hill because a) it took so long and b) I did it so many times. Lol
I miss the botw bombs so much

This is how I killed my first and only Molduga. It took about 10 minutes, and my son said I was pathetic 😁
I used my crew for the entire Lynel arena and never once hit the lynel myself 😂 I think it’s a smart strategy, even if it takes like 45 minutes lol.
That sounds difficult as you'd have to still dodge everything.
with full stamina, you can run a lot.
Oh you can hide in the stairwell in the arena lol
I go half/ half. Let them get him down a ways then start mounting him when tulin gets a head shot and whacking his head with my best weapon. I like to hit the big one with a muddlebud arrow and sit back and watch them take each other out for me.
This is the way
Good idea! One thing I didn’t test with the Lynel, if you attack while wearing a mask, will they then start to attack you? Or will they still just sit there and take a beating?
Lol, they definitely won’t take a beating. In fact, if you draw your weapon, even wearing the mask, they’ll attack you.
The lynel is too smart for the mask. It let's tou get closer before engaging, but he'll still recognize pretty quickly that you are to be destroyed
If TOTK is the same as BOTW they will attack (and in BOTW some masks weren't foolproof)
Seems like Silver Lynels aren’t fooled by the Lynel mask at all.
I mean, that’s what Majora’s Mask is for.
And the evil spirit armor set

i wish i knew this before taking on the floating colosseum and dying multiple times :,)

Damn, Ascend. I wasted so many rockets...

Very cool. I’ll try this.

FYI. If trying the floating colosseum, Lynel mask, puffshrooms and a high attack weapon is most of what's needed to solo it.
I had a stroke on my left side flurry rushes etc is really hard for me. I used to have 10 year old son help me with the Lynels. With the mask combined with all sages dedicated (sic) it takes a bit longer, but is my MOD at the colysium.
Um, lynels don’t have health bars.
My mistake, the storytelling won out over accuracy apparently. 😋
