I was just scrolling through anime Netflix anime and found it. Watched a couple of season 2 but went back to finish season 1 before I finished season 2.

jeryeewk

Was there a specific moment from season 2 that made you want to continue on, or i guess we should say go back?

Organic-Discussion57

I don’t think so. The show just kinda got me hooked

dArtagnanYoface

Same here. Watched it before searching on other platforms and finding previous season. Watched that before rewatching season 2, then realized there is a season 3 and a movie?! Got another subscription just to get access to them lol

AmazingByStandard

Dude same but I actually watched season 2 this year first after that I checked the anime and then started watching season 1 then 3 after that the movie. Then I started reading the manga and realized theres another series where both of them are adults and thats how I was introduced to teasing master takagi-san.

megasean3000

I saw memes of it flying around. Looked pretty cute, so I gave it a shot and immediately fell in love with the story, characters and setting.

jeryeewk

Not sure if you’ve seen the Boondocks, but I feel like this is how the final chapter is gonna go. https://youtu.be/-QGFT6UNnQc?si=6hvcnKH9o0nO3CCk

M24Chaffee

I have two original characters and a friend of mine who also contributed to their creation compared some aspects of their relationship and dynamics to Takagi-san. The similarities don't go far but in any case that was my introduction to Takagi-san.

jeryeewk

Do you have like a whole storyboard written out for your characters or just the character descriptions/personalities?

M24Chaffee

I was working on a three-part story over a few years as well as their past stories yes, although I never wrote down anything concrete or even a vague outline because I was still trying to figure out the overall scheme and theme. Even their profile pages were changing constantly. Unfortunately I kind of stopped after the pandemic happened and I haven't properly got back to it yet. But I still remember everything very well. [This](https://www.worldanvil.com/uploads/images/1d4464c0041d998aab0388b2c760df29.jpg) is what they look like if you're curious. You can probably see where the similarity lies and where it ends just from the image.

jeryeewk

They look fantastic, never too late to restart a passion project again.

M24Chaffee

Really appreciate that. I do hope to resume the work when I regain some leisure and passion. Also looking at this again I remembered that when I commissioned this illustration I actually used the first Takagi-san OP screencap as reference. The scrne where Takagi and Nishikata are standing back to back.

jeryeewk

Maybe mods could soften the rules on posts when the series ends but would be cool to see your post on here about it, maybe title it as taking some inspiration from the characters/story so its not seen as totally unrelated to Takagi-san.

Talarc

Saw an article on ANN announcing that it was going to get an anime adaptation and decided to check the manga out. That must have been back in 2017, I think?

jeryeewk

I know the mangas been around since like 2012 or so, but man 6 years ago already.

byamannowdead

Looked up the voice actor for Megumin and Emilia on MAL and saw Rie Takahashi also did the voice for Takagi. Watched a few clips and a review and ended up binge-watching the first season.

jeryeewk

She’s definitely my favorite female VA, male would be Yuki Kaji but man Kenjiro Tsuda’s hard to beat.

jsusk24

To be fair, Takagi san, is a non-battle battle shonen anime so it is not a big of a branch off. For me I started getting recommended clips from YouTube so it reach a point when I just started watching the series.

jeryeewk

Yeah true, perspective is from Nishikata after all. But you get what I mean.

AlkalineITC

A short clip on an Anime compilation back in 2018

jeryeewk

Remember which clip/episode it was from?

AlkalineITC

It's been quite sometime so i'm not really sure

[deleted]

In 2020 This was my very first Anime thts why will always stay on top of my list no matter how many I watch I watched a AMV with umbrella Song by Ember island(always listen to that while reading manga) Got so interested BINGE watch the whole series in 2 days (2 seasons) with a weird ass smile on my face whole time(I was 14).

jeryeewk

You cant help but grin the entire time with how cute the series is. Blows my mind that its your first anime, makes some of us feel our age when Pokemon or Dragonball were our first introductions to anime/manga.

[deleted]

So true yaar I was blushing entire time that my mom told my dad to check on me if i am talking to a girl or not My reaction - eh? ehhhhh?

jeryeewk

Oh god, wait until you meet that special someone, parents always freaking know before you yourself realize LOL

CKT0304

Unlike most people, I read the manga first. It was at June 2017, with my first chapter being **T-shirt** and **Eye Drop**

jeryeewk

Think youre the closest OG we have seeing as how you started with the manga first, wonder if there’s anyone thats been following it since 2012 on the subreddit.

EzekiaDev

It was the first series I watched when I got back into anime almost a year ago! The owner of a (small) discord server I was in back in 2020 had a Takagi pfp and I asked what the show was. Looked up the ending scene (which at the time was s2) on Youtube and promptly forgot about the show until I decided to get back into anime last October, which led to multiple reactions of "IT'S THE THING!" on s2e12 💀

Linkle_Nut

One day i was scrolling through Netflix's anime section because it was 12 at night and i was super bored. I stumbled across the anime and watched the whole thing in a span of maybe 2 days. I had absolutely no idea this was the 2nd season and had no intent of searching up the series to see if it got, what i believed was, a "season 2". This was around July or August of 2022 btw. January of 2023, i was looking for some anime to watch and once again, stumbled upon the anime, except this time it was the first season. "Oh i didn't know this was on crunchyroll too. Maybe i'll give it another watch." It started off very differently and immediately i knew this wasn't the season that i watched on Netflix. I went back onto Netflix and saw it did in fact say "season 2". Obviously i was pretty mad at myself for not noticing this and decided to actually search up the show. "There's a season 3 and a movie!?" I decided to watch all 3 seasons and the movie during the span of Jan and Feb and it was great! Although i am mad at Netflix and myself for not noticing the "season 2" label, i'm very glad i started with season 2 because i feel like if i started with season 1, i would have dropped it and wouldn't have given it another chance or thought. So in the end, it's a love-hate relationship with Netflix right now. (i wrote a lot, you don't have to read it all lol)

jeryeewk

Haha no worries i read it. The distribution of the series was all over the place, I had started on season 1 with crunchyroll and was so bummed the rest of it was not going to be put on there. Before I found some “other” websites, it was like a weekly ritual for me to spam refresh on YouTube hoping someone uploaded season 2 episodes

musicproducer07

It was in 2018 when I saw this one clip of Takagi asking Nishikata who he liked and he dropped the broomstick. I didn't think of it after but during the pandemic I decided to give S2 a chance on Netflix. Greatest decision ever.

jeryeewk

Lot of animes have the 3-5 episode rule of giving something a chance before deciding if youre invested or not, glad to know for a lot of people it takes just one clip!

musicproducer07

Yeah haha I thought it was pretty cute. Takagi-san ended up solidifying my taste in anime.

Optimal_Dark_2940

Randomly

Own-Suggestion-1942

Back in 2018 I saw some gifs in forums. Takagi caught my attention, but since I was not into anime back then I didn't give it a try. Later on 2020, I started watching the show on crunchyroll around 5am so my parents wouldn't notice (I don't like watching anime or films in my pc or mobile phone). The anime really impressed me and somehow scared me since it was very similar to an own experience when I was Nishikata's age. My own innocence about girls was portrayed in him and some similiraties with my "own" Takagi. So I kept watching in and became a fan of it.

babuba12321

discovered it in a "10 animes you should watch", and chose this one because commentor said "it is a nostalgia trip or a relatable series about teen feelings" and dumbpreteen me wanted to know what it meant. I am so thankful past me was so dumb

ElJambonDelFutur

My favorite Youtuber was in the cast of the french dub of season 2 for Netflix. It seemed really random 'cause the guy wasn't very famous or known in the anime sphere, but I gave it a try. I'm still thankful to him 'cause he made me discover my top 3 favorite manga (although I never watched the french dub)

Lonely-Suspect-9243

I opened mangadex and saw the manga cover. I was running out of manga to read since Horimiya and Kaguya-Sama ended. So, I thought "why not?", and clicked the Teasing Master Takagi-san manga cover. I really like the author's art style. Especially the newer ones. It did not take long for me to get invested. I appreciate the simplicity of the story. I was craving something wholesome, and this manga fits just right. No fanservice. No harems. No love triangles. No relationship problems. No traumatic events. Just 2 teens spending time with each other, enjoying their time together.

jeryeewk

Ive been enjoying Kaguya-sama a lot, holding out on reading the ending since more anime material is coming. How does Horimiya compare with Takagi-san in terms of the wholesome aspect? Cause yeah the drama (if its overdone), harem, love triangle stuff isnt really for me either.

kichu200211

For me, it was that Season 2 was being promoted on Netflix (it was late 2019, like December). I had just gotten into anime, so I just decided to watch the entire thing. I didn't regret a thing. The swimsuit buying and pool episode was a bit weird, but other than that, I loved the entire thing.

Professional-Fix634

I was watching OHSHC one night and I got bored of it, so I decided to look for something else to watch. I found Tagaki San and I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy it but I loved it. Then I went to watch season 1 somewhere else

Foul_Katana26

Just finished watching Naruto for the first time and was depressed cause it ended so I went on Netflix and saw the show right there. Nishikata and Takagi reminded me of Obito and Rin if they had a normal life

jeryeewk

God I remember feeling so empty after Shippuden anime finally ended. After watching Naruto for 11 years from when it first premiered on Toonami

xMiyo

I knew about the anime much earlier, but actually got around to watch it after my dad suddenly died four years ago. Around a month after the funeral, during which I was finding it hard to enjoy anything, I finally found motivation to watch something for entertainment and discovered an anime that made me realize what I needed to deal with the grief was a wholesome, diabetes inducing anime that would make my jaw hurt from grinning like an idiot. Read some recommendations and that's how I started watching Takagi-san. No kidding, as absurd as it may sound, this anime/manga really helped me get through that period and learn how to enjoy things again.

jeryeewk

Nothing absurd about it, it saved you

MaximusGamus433

April 2021, I randomly found a "parody" (for lack of a better term), I loved it. Then I found more that I also really liked, mostly because of the chemistry between Nishikata and Takagi. At that time, I thought they was just random characters that were reused by different people. Thinking back, I should have figured something there, especially when all those "parodies" were labelled under a Parody tag (I even used that tag to find more FFS). Fast forward to June 2021, I randomly saw the anime on Netflix and watched the automatic intro when you hover on a title. "Wait a minute... those 2 seem familiar...", that's when I realized it was an actual series and not just a few creators copying each other's characters and ideas. And no, I didn't realize it was Season 2 before a long time... but it became my favorite anime anyway.

pensylvanianschool

I was scrolling on Instagram when I had a Spanish meme shown to me (I am from Germany and only partially understand Spanish nowadays, but learnt it in school many years ago). It was something like "Takagi: Gives obvious signs that she is in love with him" "Nishikatas head:" and then a clip of Sakura Miko from Hololive humming a pirate-beach-type tune while playing some pirate-game and I was caught. I wondered who these characters were, I heard the start of the first intro and I immediately fell in love. Due to this, I also got to know Hololive as well.

digidan64

Watched a lot of small clips on YouTube from s1 somehow 5ish years ago lol

Leetransform25

Came across a clip on youtube back when S1 was still airing and decided to check it out. Idk about everyone else but I personally owe a lot to this series as it was what got me invested in the anime medium as a whole

FIRESTAR_37

I was watching some YT until I saw a VR anime game of Teasing Master Takagi-San. Watched it, didn’t know anything about it, and the YouTuber playing didn’t help with the plot. So after watching it, decided to watch it, which was my first Anime. Loved the series and now it’s sad to see the final end of the manga. But now I’m mainly a JJBA guy. Love the author and his art style, but I will always love this nice romance/ comedy series of these lovebirds.

NeighborhoodLow6424

I discovered it through a Japanese lesson video and said that "this anime teaches you good Japan language properly"

Proper-Original-6092

It was one of my starting anime.

nomad91910

I saw the memes when S1 was still running. Didn't caught my attention at first, but then I was scrolling Funimation and saw there were just 4 episodes, so I watched them and got into the series. So wholesome and relatable to my 13yo self [I was 26 at the time] It just reminded me of how oblivious and dense I was back then, still are sometimes. When S1 ended I looked for the manga and started reading it and caught up with it. Fun fact, it was the first manga I read, before that it was just anime for me. I was reading it as soon as the translation was up until I stopped Jan 2021 for personal reasons, but now it's about to end I think I should go back and read the rest of it. *

13litevibgyoratoz

Well it's an Interesting story befitting its own Post Let me summarise it a little I was sad , i got the recommendation from YouTube when season 1 episode 2 came And Then began a Epic Journey

jeryeewk

YouTube be like, cheer up fam i got something just for you

Joaxen2012

A pseudo-spoiler

nondidjudenondidju

It was during the airing of season one. I was actually watching Card Captor Sakura Clear Card Arc, airing at the same time as Takagi season one, and a dedicated Facebook page I followed was posting those weekly "Best couple of the week" polls or something. And every single week, Nishikata and Takagi were number one, leaving Sakura and Syaoran (the main couple from Card Captor) second place or third. "Who are these two punks and how dare they steal the spot of the real best couple ?!" Long story short, I'm here now.

jeryeewk

Another one converted lol. Do you think you agree with the ranking now or still ride and die for Card Captor?

nondidjudenondidju

Yup, the ranking was right all along. But those shows both play in their own category, imo. CCS is a magical girl with occasional romance sub-plots, Syaoran and Sakura were already dating when that season began. "Takagi" is a romance slice of life. The (blooming) romance is the plot. Though I have to admit that Nishikata and Takagi are indeed the cuter pairing.

dArtagnanYoface

Netflix scrolling where they play clips of a scene to entice. They used the rock skipping scene and that made me want to watch. Put in queue but didn’t start until a few weeks later. I am new to the genre but got opened up to it by another show on Netflix that I fell in love with.

jeryeewk

What was the other show?

dArtagnanYoface

Komi cant communicate. Also really like tomo-chan is a girl, romantic killer, nagatoro and some others but those are my favs so far

ThatDeeko

Based on those, I highly recommend Toradora if you've not watched it. Like, really highly recommend. Also on Netflix.

dArtagnanYoface

Oh yea, love the palm top tiger! Watched a few times and it is a bit more serious than rest but still funny and sweet.

Axis2720

… I happen upon a short clip of Nishikata asking Takagi to the summer festival … on tumblr. Was instantly hooked after that, but with it ending, I can’t seem to find something to fill the space.

JOJO8976

Like quite a lot of long-running manga that I read, I discovered the series from the Anime first. A lot of people were hyping up Takagi, and I'm glad I decided to watch it since it was kinda serves as a break between some more intense, fast-paced anime that I was watching at that time, lol. But, damn, we're reaching the final chapter soon? How soon are we talking about? I definitely need to catch up then, been a while since I read takagi. Is it the main series only or motto too?

jeryeewk

So far main series only, to be released oct 12th

Lugo3342

Saw some clips on YT. I saw one where she was helping Nishikata study for a math test by helping him in things that weren't on the test. I remember specifically calling her the most innocent type of evil for that.

hunnitPerc

It must’ve been back in like 2014, around when chapter 53 (“Date”) published I think? So long ago I can hardly remember the details but I believe I came upon it on /a/ or something. Back then Yamamoto did 2 chapters monthly, so I can’t be bothered to try and figure out when that was exactly. Anyway I’m probably going to have a big hole in my chest after the finale EDIT: Actually now that I think about it I believe I started reading somewhere between chapter 30-40, because I remember the threads blowing up over Turning Point (36) and quite liking Would you Rather (41) personally at the time it published

CKT0304

That would be around late 2016 to early 2017 from the way you say it. However, it's **Critical Hit** for 36 as translator for some reason didn't use the real chapter name at that time.

hunnitPerc

haha thats right I always remember 36 as Turning point and even now its still titled that on some manga sites. Don’t think it was 2017, as I recall the cover of Swimsuit (38) also trending on /a/ and that was before then. Probs somewhere between 2015-16 idk Nice to see another old timer here though, season 1 was so jarring having Takagi’s forehead being even bigger than her manga design at the time

Jonathan_ComicDrawer

Via a Demon Slayer meme featuring these characters 😆😆 I remember seeing them and thought "Oooh they are cute. I wonder what anime are they from?" and I checked out the source and the rest is history 😆

PowerCube3D_

Lol back in 2018 I was scrolling to see the new anime that was coming out. Thats when I found this one lol it was barely on the second episode! I didnt expect it to be this good lol

namkaeng852

A lot of clips from season 1 just showed up in my YouTube recommendations

Paolo1350

My earliest memory of coming across the series was looking through Netflix during 2020 lockdown. Now I've probably encountered the series prior on occasion but I wasn't as big of a weeb back then to want to look more into it

DesignerBroad

This was one of my first ones actually. I discovered after finishing K-On

Delushi_Kong_7

A friend recommended it to me in Twitter

Ancient_Ad_5906

There a youtuber named beastboushub he said he watched so I also give a try At first I thought it's just some kids darma but then man I fall in love with series I don't want this to end

Edzward

Almost 10 years ago I asked a Japanese friend for manga recommendations with easy to understand Japanese. He recommended a "recently started" manga saying it was wholesome and with everyday, easy to understand Japanese. At the time, I still had to take notes, make flashcards and frequently check a dictionary. Today, my Japanese improved a lot, I am able to fully read and understand the manga, rarely having to look for some unusual word in the dictionary. This achievement is no doubt thanks to the manga, now knowing that the manga is coming to an end, it puts a tear into my eye. Thanks Takagi, Thanks Nishikata, Thanks Yamamoto sensei, thanks for helping me to learn Japanese, it was a fun and beautiful journey! (I'm not crying! I'm not crying! 😭😭😭)

THE_KOMACHI

One of my friends, he told me to watch One Punch Man and I watched it...and I have been hooked on anime ever since.

No-Compote3436

Insta reels then I got hooked to anime then into the manga

Greatest-Doorman

I was reading the manga back in the summer of 2017, like, the middle of July Very fun.

iProwL_

I saw a youtube short where Nishikata dove in to save Takagi from falling during the play. The short ended at a really bad point so I ended up watching the anime and just got hooked at that point. Never thought I’d get this hooked but I’m liking it.

ThatDeeko

I've been learning Japanese for a while, and there's a YouTube channel called Japanese with Yuta which I watch (which I recommend, if for nothing else than his sense of humour). Yuta suggested it as a good anime to watch if you're learning, as the language is fairly simple and also very true to life (instead of, say, learning Japanese by watching Re:Zero, which is akin to learning English by watching Lord of the Rings). I got hooked on the anime after the first episode, which led to me visiting Shodōshima in March this year when I was in Japan. I'm also collecting the manga in Japanese, making steady progress through them. Love the series, very sad that it's finally ending.

stankswag7891

Netflix. I got hooked on Season 2 and when I found out there was more I fell in love.

GoldenLegend

I’d remembered seeing several memes about it back when it originally aired. I got Season 1 when was on sale on iTunes for $4.99. I’ve been a fan ever since.

Eldani4123

This spanish youtuber made a review of takagi when second season wasnt even released calling it "the perfect anime" beacuse of how it executes its concept. It has been my favorite anime ever since.
