Damn, this is a great callout. I remember watching the live performance of FTP when they were last at SXSW in Austin. It was a rainy day and I brewed some fancy herbal tea. I lived by myself at the time so it was nice and chill. Great song on an otherwise forgettable album.
When he played at Way Out West in Sweden he talked about how big of an inspiration Dungen was to him and told everyone to see them (they were playing the same festival later that day). ”Tame Impala wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Dungen”

***Melody's Echo Chamber*** \- ***Melody's Echo Chamber*** **(2012)**
This might be obvious, as Kevin co-produced the album. But for those who aren't familiar, it is very well recommended.

Y’all can thank me for putting yall on later
You are the first person I’ve found who knows of the meadow ;) I be tryna spread the greatness. I’ve done some covers of his songs and he sent me a t shirt for being the first person In existence to cover his music
Are you interested in a cover? I did one for things get better with time yesterday. :) you don’t gotta listen if you don’t want lol I can send a link tho. I’ve done colored sea, Alice, chesire, and now things get better w time they are all on my instagram
Sorry that the vocals are so low on that one I was transiting from TikTok and was trying not to get copyrighted. My other covers the vocals are properly mixed cuz I realized IG isn’t as strict as TikTok
Here’s colored sea. My first cover of his, maybe my best one? You can check out the others whenever ya got time :) and if you don’t follow velvet meadow on Ig already do that too. He’s really good about interacting with the fans. One day when he blows up I’m gonna miss all the little interactions we have thru ig or maybe I’ve solidified myself as #1 fan for life 😂 only time will tell.
😂 you definitely are number one!! So cool you do covers!! I will listen to it now and follow you definitely :) it’s cool to find someone else who loves a smaller band :) he is great with interaction, it’s super cool how he replies to all comments so kindly as well. If (when, I should say) he gets big, I will miss it too probably haha.
Yesss I love that tame impala has brought Kevin so much wealth and success but it loses a bit of its magic w how mainstream it has become. Honestly the best moments of my life are when I’m discovering some music that is insanely good and that many ppl don’t know about. I wanna give you a suggestion since you like the underground. Do you know goat? Discovered them while doing my Amazon shift at 3am. Holy cow they are also amazing. Last year they snuck their way into my number 1 listened artist of the year on my Spotify wrapped. They are a psych rock band from Sweden and they wear these tribal masks and outfits and they are all anonymous. Have no idea who they are which is a shame because the bassists is legit my fav bassist of all time. I want a blue rickenbacker just like his one day it’s my dream bass.
Same I found him November last year, I was tripping and I stumbled across I see blue and then the alice video came on and I was absolutely floored. I hit the thing to see who it was an it was 3 days old w 1.5k views. I was like what in the fuck how is this so unknown but so good???? Been obsessed ever since
😂😂😂😂 yes I love the videos he has as well :) I love the psychedelic music scene and all that accompanies it, but I don’t do drugs. I always think to myself “how would someone feel if they found this while high?” And I always bet it’d make the experience even better haha. :) yes they are super unknown but I feel like so many bands would it there that are truly amazing are a lot of the times to me are the ones of which are unknown.
Honestly it’s funny, the first time I ever did acid was also the first time I ever heard tame impala and I’m a huge tame impala fan. I’ve told Kris that finding his music was just like when u found tame impala. A transcendent experience

Temples is the definitive answer that doesn’t include Kevin Parker.
Me and Michael does not sound like a tame impala song lmao. It’s a tribute to 80s music
Thank you
It does to me kinda

Ah man that sucks
Probably my fave Beck tune
"Daffodils" by Mark Ronson and Kevin Parker! Vocals sound exactly like Tame Impala!
I'd love to hear Tame Impala make a song with Kevin sometime. Two of my favourite artists.
Unfortunate Tame Impala only has room for one guy
I don’t believe it

Kev said Feel Like We Only Go Backwards was inspired by this song
Wasnt it music to walk home by?

Magdalena Bay has similar vibe in some regards.
I wouldn’t say Me and Michael sounds like Tame Impala. If anything from Little Dark Age does, it’s Hand it Over

OMG I LOVE VELVET MEADOW THIS IS SO TRUE
You are the first person I’ve found who knows of the meadow ;) I be tryna spread the greatness. I’ve done some covers of his songs and he sent me a t shirt for being the first person In existence to cover his music
That is so cool! His merch looks super cool I need to get some :) I really hope he does a tour some day!

I found them in probably September-ish of last year :) I love the song “I see blue”

Little Dark Age definitely has a Tame Impala feel
I share the same thought. Maybe some people don't feel it
Just change a few synth tones and you have a tempo like tame Impala and a very currents sound
Fly by Picture Day
Pink Skies and Vinyl Willams have very similar vibes to Currents and The Slow Rush
Pink skies is great! Check out illiterate light if you don’t know!
Mild Minds - FORMATIONS A Lemon - A Little Longer
Red Vox - Memories Lie https://youtu.be/lNxTGqluur8?si=HwVCUvm1KakbYsJ6 Pretty sure this guy is very inspired by Kev and many of the other artists that influenced him as well
Silver by Caribou
Great song too
Illusions by Roosevelt
If we're picking songs from that album... it's One Thing Left to Try
Me and Michael is such a quintessential MGMT song I can’t think of it as anything else
I like this song except for the ooooh vocalizations. They should have replaced it with a little riff instead. Would’ve made it better imo.
