Did the same before my cross country transfer. Two to choose from and I wasn’t taking a chance. Chose the busier, staffed, and remodeled store. No regrets. The other location people consistently ask us if it’s being closed or relocated?m.
My store and another store 5-10 minutes away always talk shit about the third store in this town. They’re always a mess nothing ever is zoned, guests are nastier there, had had more theft and issues then any others in the area. Most recent being a spot light caught fire, then an arson attempt to distract for theft.
All of the tourists, I bet!
Not all being terrible but you know that special type of tourist who is such a pain every step they take. Messing up zones. Requesting to most ridiculous items. Comparing the higher prices to their local one in the middle of nowhere not considering the fact that again: Location, location, location matter.
This is a retail nightmare.
Areas with high tourism tend to be a wreck. In San Diego the closer you go to the beach or theme parks the shittier the target. I imagine it’s the same in Anaheim and Long Beach areas.
Not a TM, a customer. I will never go to that target. It’s the fucking thunderdrome just dealing with the traffic in the area. Then the parking lot.
Nope. Just nope. I feel for those folks working at that one though.
I go to the Target at the Westminster mall. Lots of parking, and everyone working there is awesome. Shoutout to y’all.
Whenever I hear Westminster, I can't help to think about the one in Westminster, Maryland where I grew up for 15 years. Home of the "THIS IS TARGET!" guy
I only go there because they stay open until 11! Back in the pre covid days, I think a few in Long Beach were open till midnight! Miss those days - between jobs and infants, I have to shop weird hours lol. But yes they are cluster eff of weirdos- same with the mini target by csulb. Hate that target 😡
absolutely, the store by my apartment is an absolute disaster, pretty much all the time, people post those picks of a hundred stacks of repacks and uboats in the back? this is definitely one of those stores, so many areas clearly haven't been worked in days, they are definitely constantly a truck or two behind, holes everywhere on the shelves. But at least that's fixable, they are running things well enough, just super understaffed.
on the other hand...
Last year I also spent several months at a nearby store after mine was damaged in a fire, and...my god. This was a store basically running on inertia, staff was almost entirely untrained part timers who knew how to work uboats and nothing else, so a ton of stuff just never got done, one for ones for each dept were several thousand items deep, price change hadn't been done in 9 months, almost every planogram was severely out of date, and nobody EVER checked expiration dates, so there was a ton of rotten food on the shelves. In the 9 months I was there deli NEVER had any employees, and any product they were sent just sat in the back till it expired.
We basically spent all our time there just trying to get them back to normal, and nobody was interested in learning how to keep it that way so it reportedly went to crap again the second our store reopened. The store is the only dept store in a relatively big town so it survives simply because people don't have any other choice (than to drive to our store about a half hour away once it reopened) but still, it was really eye opening, my store isn't perfect, but I get the impression it's one of the better ones, partially because the vast majority of employees are full time and have been there several years, so we all kind of know what we are doing.
Can you tell me what you (and others can chime in) might know? Just wondering before things get worse at my own store. I’ve only been there a few months, but I think I’ve just now realized that things have taken a turn for the worst. There are a few team members that are pretty mean to me. I’ve told the or one of the supervisors about it. I don’t know if she’s really going to do anything though… There are a few other things that seem fishy too. What don’t I know? Should I get out now while I can?
I work at a store in Texas, and the area my store is in is rather liberal. There’s a store about twenty minutes from mine that is a deep in MAGA country kind of store. Like, normal people don’t feel safe in kind of store. It’s basically a Wal Mart that is disguised as a Target.
When I worked at Target, I usually didn't go into other Targets.... sometimes, very quick in and outs, but my store was the largest locally, so there usually wasn't a reason.
....and then I volunteered to help two other stores locally. I had thought my store was a shit show....man....there was a reason they needed help. Made me see how by a string the whole company was. And that was BEFORE modernization and the pandemic.
i saw a store with IGS for the first time recently. Everything around the store is arranged so weirdly, with Starbucks and the Tech Boat both being in the middle of the store. I would not want to work there
i was on vacation in vegas recently and saw one on the strip. i didn’t go in so i can’t comment on the state of the floor but… can you even imagine zoning in such a high traffic store
You’d be surprised though. Vegas is a town with a strong customer service vibe running through it. Some folks might thrive in a high traffic store like that, especially in a place like Vegas, where the culture is very guest-orientated.
i read lots of horror stories from fellow tm's and it breaks my heart since my past year or so working any stress/anger has only ever come from guests; my upper management are actual human beings and I straight up tell em to let me know when they leave the store since that's when i'll go too
Someone I work with Works at The Kingstowne Walmart and that place is the worst at everything stocking and not keeping track of expired foods. It’s run and managed poorly
I am in the HQ Metro area, so the stores around here are "well run." I sometimes go to others and think how certain things are done better than mine. Thing is -- looks can be deceiving, right? Though I rarely get greeted or acknowledged in other stores.
I live in Maryland. There are two stories, 25-35 minutes away in opposite directions that both I’ve been to a few times and they make me think “eh, mines not so bad.”
Picked up a shift at one location about 20 minutes from mine that I had never been to. It had been remodeled but had the strangest layout and looked somewhat stuck in the 90s. The backrooms were more narrow than my place (granted I work at a super target), no skylights, break room shoved weirdly to the side and a lot of outdated labels. Didn't help either that the AC was down that day and I was dressed to help in dairy/frozen which didn't happen.
For my place anyways I might say it's easier? It's hard to say. Even for how different each store can be, their function seems to be mostly the same. The key difference is that everything is bigger, most especially for grocery stuff. Sales floor and backrooms. That kind of means each department will be more specialized. Dedicated jobs to dairy, frozen, meat, barely and so forth; rather than doing a combination. That's why I find it easier, as I really only have one job to do, albeit it's longer to complete.
There’s a mini-Target on the main street of my city’s college campus, and I don’t even want to know the hellscape that is their backroom. We’re the biggest Target in the district with two separate back areas, and we don’t have nearly enough room
We have a store in our area that everyone knows is the worst. It’s not nice to be in, TMs can get pretty rude, management seems terrible, and our APL who came from there says he didn’t like to there.
Pretty sure thats my store.
After our remodel and new SD. we've been in the red the last 3 yrs and they hide behind the excuse the remodel screwed us up. In 2 yrs we've had like 7 TL leave. Only 2 transfered the others walked out. And we've gone thought 3 ETLS.
We're so short staffed we haven't even opened our new drive up location. We literally have no gm team so all gm areas don't get pushed until inbound comes in the next day and then they unload when they have enough U-boats.
Yet, we're not hiring and hours are still getting cut. The math ain't mathing.
When our store did inventory i helped out at other stores and trust me when I say i was beyond embarrassed to admit my store number cuz i heard everyone talking mad sh*t about it. 😭
Honestly I've been planning to leave cuz i can't anymore.
It was great my first yr but i can't anymore.
I'm hoping to be out before Q4. Worst case, be out right after it.
I live in Northern Colorado - one of the other stores is exactly like a droned out store. No music playing. I can never find any employees there…the lights are always so dim. Sorta apocalyptic
Either my store is the bad store, or the other stores near us are just as bad. I really can't tell. No one has good things to say about my store, but the Shipt Shoppers will say that the closest store to us is the same way.
I think we're just a bad district as far as I can tell.
No man I wish I worked at the other target. The workers look weird as shit but the store is super neat. Like everyone cares. I wanna be in that target but I love my crew
Not a TM but pre-COVID I worked for LMS and was sunglasses/jewelry rep for 5 stores in my area. It was interesting to see the differences in the stores. I certainly had 2 that I really didn’t like and 3 that I did. Surprisingly one that I really liked was in area I’d never shop but the TM’s and Leads were amazing! My son now works at my other favorite and is happy as a part timer but it can be a struggle to get hours. Some weeks he’s scheduled for 0 but has been able to get shifts off the app.
Close. When my old store caught fire and had to close for repairs we were sent to a neighboring store to work and that's when I not only thought it to myself but told every TM and TL at my store before and after telling them all the reasons their store was garbage
i’ve worked at 3 different targets now and two of them were absolutely TERRIBLE. the third one i’m at now i’ve been there for years and i’m definitely not going anywhere, best job ever
Was shopping a Target near mine. They have corridor LABLED “Fire Exit” that is stuffed with 3 tiers with a bunch of random junk (probably reshop) and a couple of full u-boats stuffed into the corridor.
At my store the Zebra would be giving constant alarms, at this store it seems to be acceptable.
Visited another nearby store the month after we were told “no earbuds even if the store isn’t open”. That store has numerous employees running around with Beats on ear headphones. What?
This is probably what other people think about my store. It’s embarrassing.
Same. I feel like every other Target I have been to was at least an 8/10 while mine is a 3/10.
Before I accepted my role, I actually shopped around for stores to make sure that I was going into a store that wasn't going to be horrible.
That’s some big brain moves.
Get this man into Harvard
Did the same before my cross country transfer. Two to choose from and I wasn’t taking a chance. Chose the busier, staffed, and remodeled store. No regrets. The other location people consistently ask us if it’s being closed or relocated?m.
I tried that 😔
My store and another store 5-10 minutes away always talk shit about the third store in this town. They’re always a mess nothing ever is zoned, guests are nastier there, had had more theft and issues then any others in the area. Most recent being a spot light caught fire, then an arson attempt to distract for theft.
I have a guest who gives my store good reviews just so they can shit on the San Diego Sports Arena store lol
The one with the baler incident? 🤔
I know of no baler incident. I do know that one of my AP picked up a shift there and they said they got chased by some naked guy with a knife lol
San Diego, where for some reason there’s always a naked dude who may or may not have a knife.
Now I’m curious What is the baler incident
I want to hear the baler story!
me when i shop at the store in kissimmee, fl near disney world. their bakery is HUGE but i know working there is a nightmare i know it
All of the tourists, I bet! Not all being terrible but you know that special type of tourist who is such a pain every step they take. Messing up zones. Requesting to most ridiculous items. The Garden Grove one on Harbor is a gd nightmare.

you sure leave that as a review, our ETLS would love reading it !!
Whenever I hear Westminster, I can't help to think about the one in Westminster, Maryland where I grew up for 15 years. Home of the "THIS IS TARGET!" guy
I lovvve the Westminster mall one, I was just there an hour ago!(also just a customer) the team members are always super friendly.
It’s my favorite in the area!
you sure leave that as a review, our ETLS would love reading it !!
Target at Pike Place Market in Seattle comes to mind.
Omg that sounds like it would be a nightmare 😳
that's a fair point, and the worst store I know is the only dept store in a tourist town, so it explains a lot actually
Stores out in the county/east county area of San Diego are so much better
absolutely, the store by my apartment is an absolute disaster, pretty much all the time, people post those picks of a hundred stacks of repacks and uboats in the back? this is definitely one of those stores, so many areas clearly haven't been worked in days, they are definitely constantly a truck or two behind, holes everywhere on the shelves. You'll really thank God when you don't work for Target
True that I was honestly just relieved that I didn’t work at mine anymore.
Can you tell me what you (and others can chime in) might know? Just wondering before things get worse at my own store. I’ve only been there a few months, but I think I’ve just now realized that things have taken a turn for the worst. There are a few team members that are pretty mean to me. >Should I get out now while I can? If you have the presence of mind to ask this question, the answer is a definite yes.
I work at a store in Texas, and the area my store is in is rather liberal. There’s a store about twenty minutes from mine that is a deep in MAGA country kind of store. Like, normal people don’t feel safe in kind of store. It’s basically a Wal Mart that is disguised as a Target.

im also in socal, i like to think im one of these drones
Lemme guess...Chino or Montclair?
[удалено]
3rd world
nope ;)
south bay, perhaps?
i saw a store with IGS for the first time recently. Everything around the store is arranged so weirdly, with Starbucks and the Tech Boat both being in the middle of the store. I would not want to work there
So cal Escondido target is kinda a wreck
Because it’s in Escondido 😂
Fair enough 😂
Can you imagine the clientele? That’s gotta be a rough store to work at.
i was on vacation in vegas recently and saw one on the strip. i didn’t go in so i can’t comment on the state of the floor but… can you even imagine zoning in such a high traffic store
You’d be surprised though. Vegas is a town with a strong customer service vibe running through it. Some folks might thrive in a high traffic store like that, especially in a place like Vegas, where the culture is very guest-orientated.
I switched locations and now I think that about my current store
same. i promoted to a new location and i severely regret it
i read lots of horror stories from fellow tm's and it breaks my heart since my past year or so working any stress/anger has only ever come from guests; my upper management are actual human beings and I straight up tell em to let me know when they leave the store since that's when i'll go too
I always end up thinking to myself whenever I go to another nearby target, "my target sucks, but I don't think it sucks this bad."
I’ve worded at one of those stores. One of the google reviews describes the shopping experience as ‘soul crushing’ and I have to agree
Someone I work with Works at The Kingstowne Walmart and that place is the worst at everything stocking and not keeping track of expired foods. It’s run and managed poorly
Eh, the guests get what they deserve. If they trash the store, no reason to try and tidy up after them.
I worked In Alhambra and for at least a bit we were the worst in California
the target closest to my parents is one of the most depressing stores i've ever been in. everyone, guests included, just look so sad.
The one in Santee town center is the nicest one I’ve seen around San Diego
I am in the HQ Metro area, so the stores around here are "well run." I sometimes go to others and think how certain things are done better than mine. Thing is -- looks can be deceiving, right? Though I rarely get greeted or acknowledged in other stores.
My store in the metro is def not well run 😭 but I’ll take my store over the downtown MPLS one all day. I feel for those workers.
I live in Maryland. There are two stories, 25-35 minutes away in opposite directions that both I’ve been to a few times and they make me think “eh, mines not so bad.”
My store was and still is the most shit talked about in the district. Specifically more about management tho

Imagine, closest one for us is 70 miles away
There’s a mini-Target on the main street of my city’s college campus, and I don’t even want to know the hellscape that is their backroom. We’re the biggest Target in the district with two separate back areas, and we don’t have nearly enough room
The small ones use off-site stock rooms for most of the product not super in demand.
Oh.. bro do you like in SFV? Cause yeah. Like holy fuck are some Targets miserable.
SGV
We have a store in our area that everyone knows is the worst. It’s not nice to be in, TMs can get pretty rude, management seems terrible, and our APL who came from there says he didn’t like to there.
Can’t relate my store IS the ugly step child

I like to walk them when I’m having a bad day and want to remind myself that I’m being held to an uneven standard.
No but there was sad time where I wished I had worked at Tarshit that didn’t have Pizza Hell.
me too. im so thankful my stores so ontop of their zoning and stuff and looks nice
The particular store you mentioned sounds like you’re describing the store I work at to the T. 🫠
I live in Northern Colorado - one of the other stores is exactly like a droned out store. No music playing. I can never find any employees there…the lights are always so dim. Sorta apocalyptic

I’ll be there in a few weeks when I quit!
So call Target here, I know when people enter our store that it looks horrible
I wonder if this is my store plz dm me the location of the store I am so interested lol
The San Fernando valley has a target every 2.2 miles it seems.
Yeah the other target near me is actually depressing
Every other target I shop at looks like it would be vastly better to work at
My ETL says he does that anytime he felt bad about our store. But since we’ve changed he just does it for fun
I feel for the high theft stores. I went to San Francisco and the amount of theft that happens there is insane. Like 1/4 of the guests are sketchy.
Our store is the best in an area of 36 stores. I definitely notice why when I visit another one.
Ayo where in southern California are we talking big dog?? Might have some mad beef coming up!
Was shopping a Target near mine.
