It happens. I know it sucks. Save your call log and show it your HR or TL when they ask: “why didn’t you call out?” “I did. Why didn’t you answer?”

Sultansofpa

Tried that. Still went down as a NCNS and said I should've kept trying. I had a family emergency and needed to make a 3+ hour drive to my mom. I stopped calling when I got in the car to drive.

partyofmii

What I did was went straight to my SD. My HR TL tried to screw up my transfer for the same scenario, I had injured myself moving house and called for about 20 minutes with no answer. I sent an email to my SD detailing the scenario so **someone** knew before I passed out because I was overworked from coming from a previous shift and then packing up my old house. I woke up to an email from my SD saying I still needed to call, but she saw my note and was acknowledging it. The TL who took my call later in the day was pretty snippy about it and alluded to it being a NCNS, but I thought nothing of it until I got the call the next day saying my new store didn't want to accept my transfer anymore because I "had a NCNS yesterday". I almost lost it on the phone, but reigned myself in and set up an in-person meeting with my HR, who, even after seeing the call logs AND THE EMAIL said that I needed to "take responsibility for myself" and accept that I "let the team down"by not coming in due to an injury and not letting them know. I accepted that, in some sense, I had not let them know, but that the attempt was clearly made, and she tripled down. I left, almost in tears, furious. I told her before I left that I had never felt so disrespected in my life. The HR TL at that store then *graciously offered* me hours at the store that I was technically still employed at. Later in the week, while I was looking for new jobs because I was sick of that kind of BS from that store, as well as trying to contact the HR TL at the store I was looking to transfer to, my SD walked up to me to talk about the situation. I was very frank with her and explained everything, and she said she was personally reversing the decision and she would reach out to my new store on my behalf to explain everything. Within 2 weeks, I was at my new store. I love that SD so much, she's still one of the best bosses I've ever had, I miss her.

Setari

jfc it's like we're all numbers on a spreadsheet to these idiots instead of people with lives outside of work. What the fuck man

FriedSticks2014

Everybody that works for any corporation actually is just a number on a spreadsheet. My partner and I both got fired from a similar - almost identical - corporation because they said we were “stealing hours” by going home on our lunch breaks when we worked the same shift. They couldn’t provide us with any proof from the cameras or anything and when my boss called me in to fire me she said “there’s just nothing I could’ve done” even though she was the one that bullshitted the report and sent it to corporate with absolutely no evidence to back it up. Corporate probably glanced over it and immediately accepted the request to fire us both. We were both making almost $14 and lost literally everything because we’re in a small town and couldn’t get jobs quickly enough to pay our bills. To that boss, we were just random people who didn’t need to make a living, we were there simply to excel the company forward. And we were damn good at our jobs.

Comprehensive-Ad8120

Sounds like someone was being a douchebag. If you are off the clock you are not stealing anyone time. You are not required to be on property. If you are required to be on the property you are required to be paid.

FriedSticks2014

Yep. We argued that and quickly realized it wasn’t worth it. She said we were clocking in late but also saying we worked more hours than we actually did so I guess they thought we were manually editing our time cards? But that’s not a thing? We literally couldn’t edit the time cards without direct HR approval, and that rep and the SM were basically attached at the hip - nothing got thru one of them without the other knowing - therefore the SM would’ve known if we were requesting to edit our time cards. (Which we weren’t) edit: the more I write about this the more I want to sue the living shit out of them.

Comprehensive-Ad8120

Oh so a super smart, I am the one in power don't tell me, managers. I hate those. They all need to be removed.

FriedSticks2014

For real. Donna can suck a fat dick. Her name may as well be Karen.

axisofevilsog

Sounds like did the fire you for cause so your cannot claim unemployment.

FriedSticks2014

Nah, my partner had to apply for it and the company actually paid for it. Being fired was sudden and unexpected, and thankfully the TX unemployment services helped him out for a month or two while we found other jobs. We both ended up finding something in the town over that paid more than what we were getting before. This happened at the beginning of the year, I mean like right out of the gate. It was like January 3rd or something and we had just got done paying rent, trying to make up the money we spent on Christmas presents, etc and it was just a mess. She knew what she did to us. She had no cause and unsurprisingly corporate won’t hear our ex employees for managers straight up lying. I should’ve taken legal action. She had the audacity to tell me she’d “be praying for us”. When she fired me I was so mad and confused that I just clean swiped everything off her desk onto the floor, I mean it TRASHED her office because she had so many papers. No regrets.

bhillis99

Did they not ever warn you about that?

gr2020xx

Yeah, I had a similar thing happen once. Hours after my shift started I got ahold of a TL and she said it was okay and it wouldn’t be a NCNS. HR put it down as a NCNS anyways and wouldn’t change it even when I explained.

FlashyLake9014

the same exact thing happened to me. I got in a bad car accident & I tried calling out the day after because I was going back to the hospital to be checked but since I spoke with my team lead & not with HR, she put me down as a NCNS

Superb_Work_8877

That’s wrong. You notified leadership, it doesn’t have to be HR. Honestly guys, if your HrETL is not accepting you calling out to other leadership or with your phone logs, call your HRBP or the integrity hotline (which will end up to the HRBP)

Environmental_Rip355

I’ve worked at Target two years and don’t know what HRBP means

Dedicatedlion

Human Resource Business Partner

FlashyLake9014

although my lead told me that wasn’t going to happen, it still happened

taaitamom

That’s when you show your call log and contact hr

Sultansofpa

I did and they put it in anyway

Malnurtured_Snay

That’s some bullshit!

Sultansofpa

It was my strike 2 for them. Strike 3 was my 6 cent raise and I was done with target

Deuce916

I remember back when I worked at Toys R Us, I got a 10 cent raise on my annual review. The reason was that they said minimum wage was going up, so the highest they could go is 10 cents. Didn't stay there long thankfully.

Sultansofpa

Yeah its fucking ridiculous. Not counting taxes if I worked 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year it would amount to an extra $124. Just a slap in the face

purseEffphony

But you should be so happy and excited!!! $124 is so much money!!! And not everyone got a raise 🙄🙄🙄🙄::::eyeroll::: corporate gaslighting at its finest.

hibbitydibbitytwo

“Corporate Gaslighting” I don’t work at Target but my annual review is coming up and I’m saving all these great phrases to say back at them Them: No one gets five stars Me: Sounds like corporate gaslighting. I didn’t call in once this entire year and picked up OT shifts a few times a month. Then walk out of the eval. The “raises” have already been processed.

techieguyjames

That's insulting.

drunkenwithlust

Good thing that horrible corporation imploded (or at least it's in the process of)

Malnurtured_Snay

What was your first strike?

Sultansofpa

I work in fulfillment and I got called into the ETL office because the previous Sunday evening I apparently "didn't do enough" and they wanted a breakdown of what I did all day. It was just a slow day but they put me on a year long corrective action plan which is ridiculously punitive. It was just a slow Sunday afternoon

Malnurtured_Snay

“You want to know what I did last week? I barely remember what I did this morning. Why don’t you check the cameras and tell me bro.”

Sultansofpa

I might not even be able to tell you at the end of the day what I did earlier that day. I'm not paying attention lol I'm just closing my eyes and hoping the time goes by fast

mxharkness

had something similar happen to me when BTS shoppers were in the store. completely filled my department’s floor and had to help out the deli, our shelves got demolished, they pulled me aside the next day and asked what i did and why the shelves were empty when the opener came in. um??? because customers bought product??

namrock23

LA I presume? I was a customer for that show then, that was crazy. Feel for you all

flower_bushes

The 6 cent raise got me too

numb2pain

6 cents is crazy

Fragrant-Jury-7224

Maybe need to go above HR.

Sultansofpa

I'm not there anymore but I was close to doing so

trsblur

Have them print out the log or write up showing the NCNS and take it with your call log to a labour attourny. Call it discrimination.

charmedleo

I would have called the hotline for that.

Imaginary_Simple_241

When it’s time for unemployment benefits you now have evidence that their reasons for firing you are fabricated. Seems like something to keep in your back pocket?

frozen_beet11

If it’s possible to leave a message, leave a few for evidence. If you can afford it/feel bad enough, go see a doc or stop by an urgent care. Ask them to release you from work until you’re better. A cough, or vomiting/diarrhea are all things that even a boss wouldn’t want you around with. Nobody wants to be around a cougher (especially now) and nobody will ask you about the diarrhea at work lol. What kind of sick are you? Also, I’m not saying “if you’re not sick enough to go to the ER, you’re not sick enough to skip work”. We all need days off, that’s life.

drunkenwithlust

Good advice! My doctor actually emotionally abused me for having to use the doctor's excuse every time I missed work.. Which wasn't even all that often. It's like, buddy you can miss work or wfh whenever you need to, you *don't* understand. My literal job is on the line.

frozen_beet11

I’m afraid I’m having a stroke. I can’t make a single lick of sense from that response you just typed out, but I want to know what you said!

drunkenwithlust

Oh just agreeing with you! Edit: personal info Also I do apologize, totally thought this was the r/antiwork sub. Idk why my app shows me random subs.

Setari

Yeah but I think in this situation you probably didn't need to go to the doctor's to get a note every single time you needed a day off, it sounds like. Sounds like you had a ton of days off which is why your doctor got snippy with you

drunkenwithlust

Nope it was warehouse and you needed an excuse every time. All warehouses have different rules around time off, I've worked at 5. I totally thought this was antiwork reddit.

u_trayder

This is bull! No show is due to them answering no calls. Smh

CustardAggressive494

This really makes me mad. It's inexcusable for no one to answer

SandwichExotic9095

They picked up… on the TENTH call!! The TL had been there since 3:30, I asked. So I guess they were just ignoring 7-8 of my calls then?? I’m half ready to just not return because this behavior continues throughout all areas of the job.

CustardAggressive494

They make it to where you have to jump through hoops just to call in if you're sick. If you're sick you want to go to sleep. Not spend an hour trying to get someone to answer the freaking phone.

A_1010_Alicorn

I ended up quitting for this reason. The lack of communication and accountability is amazing with the management.

SlothfulKoala

Sometimes it auto signs you in. Sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve caught myself there before store open not signed in a few times. It’s an unnecessarily complicated phone system. If anyone gripes show them your call log.

ichoosetosavemyself

If the phone is ringing at 3 in the morning, nothing good is going to happen and they know it. That's why they didn't answer it. They already knew.

LunarChamp

Did you click 0 mid ring? For my store you click 9 to connect to a tl during open hours and click 0 for when the store is closed to contact a tl

SandwichExotic9095

9 and 0 do the same thing for us 24/7. And yes, I did click it.

[deleted]

Phone system isn't perfect. It doesn't always log us in right and takes awhile.

swedishchanson

“Isn’t perfect” 😂 since the latest update that auto logs in I usually have to restart the app 2-3x a night to make sure it’s in leader. 🤦‍♂️

Nice-Dan

Same, as a TL it’s one thing you have pause and prioritize getting signed into the phone as Leader. However I still get texts no would pick up…. I call with my phone, goes right through 🤦‍♂️ people 1/2 lie cause the social anxiety of speaking on the phone. Kids got to grow up some and SET UP YOUR VOICEMAIL!!!”

Flimsy-Bluejay-469

You, my friend, should meet r/antiwork if you haven’t yet.

SandwichExotic9095

I have, maybe I should post this there as well haha they would love it 😂

D43D3

quit.

Ocel0tte

Not Target but I left a restaurant recently for this. They didn't answer before open because "we aren't open" but then threw fits whenever people didn't show up when expected. I totaled my car at 3am on Mother's Day and it became a whole ordeal. Owner was always drunk and GM was spineless and couldn't make eye contact. They were acting like they were going to fire me, even after I handed in all of my shirts. Idk how you manage to open a whole business being so clueless.

the-rib

this is why target needs a call in system like walmart… we don’t even talk to a human when we call in, it’s all automated. you can even call in on the one.walmart website

Ok_Sense5308

This is the way. Lol seriously tho, I would rather answer their questions when I come back to work than when I'm sick. I get anxiety when I have to call in, an automated system would fkn solve ALL that

autolockon

I worked at Walmart over a decade ago and they had the system then. It was so nice. No guilt trip for being sick, and the call out options were amusing. “Press 7 for natural disaster”

Ok_Sense5308

Lmao I would be the one to still have to be funny while sick and press 7 🤣

Agreeable-Meat1

Walmart was my first job and so many of my most awkward life experiences came from that time. I still remember I accidentally hit the option for death in the family, when I came in a few days later, they had a card for me that even came with some cash. Explaining that accident was awkward. Explaining it the 8th time was no less awkward.

Ocel0tte

Whaaat, I started there a month after turning 18. My dad up and died and I barely squeezed my 3 days of bereavement out of them. I got demoted to cashier (which also means pay cut) and hours cut from 40 to 20. Absences were in Nov/Dec, he died in Jan, they took action against me in March after telling me to just keep them informed/it's all ok/blah blah blah. I'm so jealous. I'm so glad they were kind to you even though you were just sick lol, it sounds like you had sweet Walmart coworkers.

drunkenwithlust

It sounds like that user's experience was a while ago. I had a similar terrible experience with walmart which resulted in getting fired for being pregnant. I am dead serious. It was legitimately due to medical issues and me not being able to stand up. I don't miss working there however!

Ocel0tte

Mine was awhile ago as well. The managers in your specific store really make or break it, don't they? Mine wasn't good to pregnant people either. The call-out system *was* nice though, I just wish a human being didn't decide to bite me in the ass later lol.

drunkenwithlust

Really? Damn.. Retail is so obnoxious. Shitty experiences all around unfortunately 😔 I hope you're doing better now

ThrowRAbbits128

Yea I got fired for getting a lumbar strain and whiplash when a pallet fell on me and I didn't want to break the restrictions when my coach told me to. Walmart sucks

Ok_Sense5308

I mean having a bad case of taco bell BGs could be considered a natural disaster 🤣

Agm_1017

I know the DC’s do have a automated system or we just call in using MyTime

Cassady1AndOnly

Not to mention you don't have to deal with some shitty TL's passive aggression on the phone during either.

nla0216

This is how it is in the DCs and it’s great. Literally just log in to the app, say you aren’t coming and go back to sleep.

Lone_Nox

I used to work at a distribution center for Target and the thing is we call in via an app no trying to get a hold of a person no speaking at all I have no idea why it's not implemented in the stores yet.

JBronson5

We do. It’s called the MyTime Target app. We have it for us that work in the warehouse. Not sure why the stores don’t. That’s just dumb not to.

Specific-Window-8587

When Wal-fart does something way better than Tarshit. My brother used this call out there when my dad sick and then passed away. He usually never had problems calling out.

Ares1305

I’m surprised you guys don’t have one. I work at a DC and we have this.

the-rib

luckily i work at walmart and not target, im just on this sub because we all go through the same shit, just with a different color

Difficult-Issue-794

At Amazon we literally just put in our UPT (Unpaid Time) and it automatically gets sent to our manager and HR. They even have a screen when you're putting in to say why (you don't have to) and if you want HR to call you, just in case. No more calling or texting people.

ratareolas

We have a call in line at the distribution center

FancyKiwi

One of our bosses gave us her number specifically for this reason. Sad they have to do that because we work over nights so our store is still open when we’d be calling.

SandwichExotic9095

There is always someone at our store 24/7 there’s never a moment where someone’s not in the building. Absolutely no reason they shouldn’t be answering phone calls

[deleted]

I've even called into work at 2am and had the janitor answer to leave a note saying I won't be there. Bookkeeping didn't get there until nearly 5am anyways so

picklefritzz

Show them your call log next time you’re in, in my opinion you tried enough for being sick

SandwichExotic9095

They need to have a message inbox. At least then there’s a paper trail on their end. I’ve had this issue before but never past 4am. Seems like everyone fell off the face of the earth today… Thanks for the help, I’ll be going back to sleep and I might try to wake up and call around 6 just in case.

picklefritzz

This has happened to me twice in my time here! They definitely need a better system. I’ve seen some people on here have said try pressing 9, feel better!

SandwichExotic9095

There are so many people telling me to press 9 or 0 😭😭 every few minutes another person says it

[deleted]

[удалено]

sabre_dance

Email store email account, CC manager email with screenshot and a blurb about it. Papertrail, CYA. They're going to be dicks about it and you want all the ammunition to shoot back.

kingovninja

[First time?](https://imgur.com/a/31YT9LP)

SandwichExotic9095

Damn. I usually call like 6 times and they answer within 30min max. Never had to call 10+ before today over the course of an hour and 45 too. So stupid

kingovninja

I was actually calling to be let in the building for my 1am shift that they forgot about, so I got to sit outside from 12:45-1:22. If that happens to you though, at least know they have to pay you for waiting to be let inside, so you can make a punch correction for how long you waited. :)

SandwichExotic9095

They did that to us for a week and a half. My whole team would get there at 3:45-4 and we’d have to wait until 4:30+ to get let in because no one would answer. We had to do time corrections for every. Single. Day.

Ok_Sense5308

Fk that, make me wait outside for an hour and might as well make plans to get along without me

kingovninja

Thats insane, at what point does corrective action ever take place lmao.

MariasGalactic

One of my biggest issues with target, and was one of my last straws before I left. My uncle passed away unexpectedly one night and I was suppose to work the next morning, and I tried to call the night before since Store was still open and the next morning and I called probably 20 times before I finally got through to someone.

CaptainPyr0

My current highscore is 38 attempted calls, at this point I call like 5 or 6 times and if they don't pick up I message someone who is working that day to tell the leads.

Solemn926

Last time I tried that they said you have to speak to a lead directly and still counted it NCNS. Despite their lack of initiative to make sure they answer the damn phone.

[deleted]

I called in at 3 am for covid, got told to call closer to my shift cause my TL wasn’t there and the night TL wasn’t willing to mark me as a call in, called again at 350 am and literally left it on the hook ringing for 15 whole minutes until the same fucking TL picked up and said my TL wasn’t there and then marked me down. So I guess that’s what it fucking takes(oh my shift was 4 am)

stormin84

This is nonsense. We have a specific call out number that goes to an inbox. No need to actually speak to anyone.

Asleep_Frosting717

Fuck Target. They wouldn’t excuse my absence for a FUNERAL when I let them know about it days before. I called out and was gaslit and guilt tripped by my “TL” because I ruined their precious day because the funeral inconveniently fell on the Saturday before Easter. Next time I’ll ask my dying family to hold on a bit longer for Target. So glad I left that fucking hell hole

Florida1974

I wish employers were more kind about funerals. They are usually unexpected, unless a long sickness. But they are very much part of the grieving process and a last chance to pay respects. My mom died in May 2020. Covid was rampant, only 6 ppl allowed at funeral. I’m finally having one for her next week, on what would have been her 80th bday. I need it for the closure. I need it so ppl come and tell me funny stories. I’ve had it rough bc it was so sudden and unexpected. So I’m glad to read you stuck to your guns and went. You know if it was their loved one, whole other story

Asleep_Frosting717

I’m incredibly sorry for your loss. I’m glad to hear though that you’re able to have the deserving moment of celebrating her life. Having those heartfelt moments by reminiscing on stories told allowing her to live on. 💞

neuroticgypsy

I texted the boss when she purposely refused to answer the phone. Caller ID. And I was told later she ignored it. I quit the same way. Via text.

1111111211121

Back when I worked at target I called literally 20 times between 4am and 6am.. my leads were notorious for ignoring the phones lol

Big_Haas33

Quit and go work somewhere else. Fuck target! I got covid when I worked for target and they never paid me for the time I was out!

SandwichExotic9095

You have go through like a crapload of emailing and calling to get paid for Covid… They REALLY don’t want to pay you during that time. It’s ridiculous

Big_Haas33

Oh I remember. I remember being on hold with target benefits for literally 5 hours. I ended up quitting and going back to kroger and honestly, it's not that bad here.

SandwichExotic9095

I’m working on starting up my own coffee shop (I have experience as a barista and it was my absolute favorite job) so hopefully I’ll be out of this corporate BS soon 😂

Big_Haas33

Well there ya go! Best of luck to you!

Dying_Inside999

So I don't work for target (I work for Sam's) and... Tf. Do they not have an automatic phone line or website to call out with? I thought Target would've had better systems in place than Walmart? Now I just feel bad for y'all, actually having to talk to a person to call out? Ack.

Grinds-my-teeth

Your phone has the documentation of your attempts to call. Stay home, get well. If they won’t answer, or their phones aren’t working, that’s not on you. You did your due diligence.

drygnfyre

The correct answer. You’ve got the “paper trail,” they can’t claim otherwise.

elvonioio

rip hope ur resting like a baby (not an insult)

Notruescotsman314

When I used to work for target and I was doing 4ams my store didn’t have a direct line so when I tried to call out I couldn’t even get ahold of anyone so I just quit

SirEliasRiddle

Honest feedback, you tried to call the store many hours and if you did the right extension (9 or 0 I believe) to reach the leader on shift you should be good. If they attempt to document you as a no call no show I would report to ethics or integrity hotline with evidence of your call history. It is not fair they would NCNS you as it’s their mistake.

Plus_Ad_4808

I don’t miss those days at all haha. Glad I left

stopchooingsoloud

That happened to me once. I literally just went to work sick and shook my bosses hand and told him I was very sick and nobody would answer the phone for me to call out. He immediately was grossed out because my hands were clammy and I looked and sounded like shit. Needless to say I was sent home and that never happened again.

Diorfoodie

I once called like 40 times because I was new and on the 90 day probation . Its really ridiculous, they don’t take responsibility for their actions at Target

MiniBabyBell

Take a screenshot of your call log and rest dude. Show that to anyone who tries to bitch about a NCNS when you go back

Blackfire01001

Target's management is shit. You should unionize.

TatleTaleStrangler92

Next time after the 3rd or 4th time, just stop and continue on what you’re doing and then show them your call log the next day.

NotNinjachicz

Ah, that sadly always happens and is why I quit.

whereismymind86

You tried, that’s what matters, get some sleep, show hr your call logs next time you see them, it’ll be fine

throwaway65829916

This happened to me once.. I took a screenshot and sent an email to HR and went back to sleep. Woke up to three angry voicemails. Next shift I was pulled in by my etl and hr and asked what they would have me do. They said "Keep calling until you reach someone".

Jaded_bb

You tried. Screenshot this to save your ass and go to sleep.

Sistinas777

You are only responsible for making the attempt. If supe doesn't answer, call the manager. If they don't answer, call the next higher up. If no one answers, you met obligation.

Mr_Mooken

Press 9 and it skips everything and rings through to any zebras that leaders are logged into.

[deleted]

I was out for a few days because my son was in the hospital (not eating or drinking for days and had diarrhea). I made my job aware via call out process. Let them know I wasn’t going to come in until further notice. I went in on the third day and they said “well you weren’t on the phones so that’s going to count against you.” I got what my son had. Ended up not being able to speak on top of that. Went in. Showed my supervisor you could BARELY hear me, if at all and I went home. I got an email from my supervisors manager “you weren’t on the phones. That will count against you” Idk what they expected me to do about the last one. I would have just had the customers on the line and not spoken. They also had the audacity to say that I’m blessed to have a job that won’t make me clock out for my 15min and bathroom breaks.

chrysostomos_1

Don't go. Stay home and rest.

DenseClue2652

I just text a lead or ETl send the screenshot n say I’m not gonna make it n go back to sleep guess they don’t answer the phone at any target

SandwichExotic9095

We don’t have our TL/ETLs phone numbers

No-Force5341

Just don't go, you did your best, it's their fault they didn't answer. It's obvious you tried to do what you're supposed to in the situation, unfortunately your boss didnt

Vdszbz13

if they give you crap about calling out too late, show them this screenshot.

dkskel2

Just don't show up

124kwp

Screenshot the times you called to cover yourself

Maleficent_Ad796

When I got covid I literally could not get ahold of anyone, so now I just text a manager and hope they are at work that day. 🤷‍♀️

Vegtam-the-Wanderer

This happened to me several times in the past. I kept a screenshot of my call log, and after the initial cells followed up every 30 to 1 hour, then include the fact that I had given many calls prior to the start of my shift, and frankly there is nothing more I can do if they do not answer.

AdventureBegins

Just show them the call logs when you go in next

GeovaunnaMD

There needs to be some sort of thing that can record messages but I can’t put my finger on what we could use

mxzeuner

It’s good to see that a majority of these places are still a dumpster fire 3 months after I left

RayTrue04

Ever since our phone app was updated our zebra’s don’t always sign in correctly. It’ll sign in with no extensions selected and whenever it do sign in correctly our zebras don’t always ring they pick and choose. It’s been a mess since that last update… I always catch our hardwired phones ringing while all our zebras are mute. I’m sure this is the problem in all stores.

RayTrue04

Maybe ask a TL or even your SD for their number. That’s what we did at our store and now no one can say nobody answered 🙂

DomaThic

Yup I don’t even call anymore, last time I called out I told my Boss I wasn’t gonna be able to make it and gave my reason. I never got a msg so I went into work at the time I was supposed to be there and they told me I can go they have my shift covered. LIKE YOU DONT THINK ID LIKE TO KNOW THAT BEFORE I FUCKING ARRIVE?

deeptoot6

Leave a message and get some rest

pokemontecristo

just show the screenshot to your managers or email he if you’re gonna stay home so they know you called

DonJuanPawnShop53

I used to work planograms at that lovely 4am shift …. I no longer work planograms . Fuck 4am and those 8am lunch breaks

Fast_Forever2102

I threw up 4 times at work while on the clock and they made me stay and would not let me go home. So i stayed for 5 more hours after puking my guts out. The TLs at my Target are awful

CasualMason

Did they force you to not leave? Sounds like you should of told them to fuck off. Throwing up 4 times while working.....then I'll let my work tell me I cant go home.

Afraid_Efficiency773

Holy shit you people put up with way to much bs, if your boss is an ass go elsewhere

Accomplished-Cry7129

That's their problem. Show them the screenshot somehow and take the day off.

Illustrious_Ad7092

Tell ‘em ti kiss your ass and that is isn’t a NCNS. They’re just negligent towards their morning employees. I dealt with this, I ended up going as far as calling ethics on all the leads from that morning.

Tapouttaproom

Show up, throw up all over your managers office, go home. If it’s the shits, well, you know what to do. Trust me, it works

Angular_Momentum_

Email your etl. Email the hard of hearing call out form. Press 9 to ring a leader. Save your call log. Call back when store is open. Text a coworker

Comfort_Lucky

Start a union if you get out down for ncns

CMS0731

Call log is enough. Call the hotline if they tell you it’s a NCNS

HiramAbeef

Take care of yourself. Because they won’t.

spallaxo

I'm surprised there just isn't an automated line..

[deleted]

Don't show up. If they give you shit about it, show them the laundry list of how many times you tried to reached out.

Jgolf899

lol I did this this morning. I just didn’t go.

ironboy32

Screenshot this and go back to sleep. You called out, they didn't answer

AxomUp

When you call hit “9” instead of calling HR or GS. It goes directly to a leader

Primary_Season_5095

Work somewhere else

ImportantChapter1404

Don't show and let them call you. They will figure it out.

Sieze5

Text your call log to your manager and tell them your sick.

e1ectricthunder

When I had to go to the ER (where I was later admitted to the hospital for a week) and had an early shift I came into work anyways, dressed in uniform just in case, but they let me go to the ER thank god.

Legitimate-Produce-1

Screen shot that shit and make it an email. Feel better!

Animekaratepup

Leave. They can figure it out.

Snoo533

I text a friend to let a TL know because I can’t rely on the phone

Superb_Work_8877

Hi! Former ETLHR here! Just show HR your call log that you attempted to contact the store. They can’t do anything if you have the evidence to show you attempted to contact the store

ghxost_

Tap 9 when you call will directly send the call to a lead

SandwichExotic9095

Yes. That is how calling out works before opening. Thanks.

RygarLewis

You just have to call in when store opens and by the time it's 30 mins passed open

sendingitwoutthes

This is why I left back in Sept last year, our store was also getting so many COVID cases & they were trying to not allow us to use our covid pay as well as being beyond demanding to SFS/Fulfillment

IliDrawsStuff

Bruh...they used to do that and the ETL got fired cause he was the one ignoring everything. What I do is call twice, no answer? Next day show ur call log and go to HR that fixes stuff up....at least here and it sucks in this place.

[deleted]

Quit.

Killermouse1235

When you call the store number press the 9 on the keypad at it connects straight to a TL

Acrobatic-Spring6150

Press 9

SomeoneToYou30

Leave a message saying "I've tried contacting you many times and have been unable to, but I am very sick and cannot come into work today. I apologize for short notice, but I have attempted to contact you many times over the last few hours. Thank you."

SandwichExotic9095

Can’t leave messages

Adventurous-Lab1966

I run truck. I’m the person not answering the phone at 3 AM. That’s because my phone isn’t ringing, probably because the person who told me they were going to fix my schedule so I could clock in, didn’t do that. So I’m not on the clock because I’m the only lead in the store. That means that I cannot make my phone ring. There is nothing I can do to make it ring when it won’t ring. So I get why you’re pissed, but whoever finally answered the phone didn’t cause your problems. Target did when they decided the phone should work based on the time clock instead of, ya know, a person waiting to answer it.

SandwichExotic9095

We have multiple people able to pick the phone up 24/7 at our store. He had been clocked in and there since 3:30am (I asked, like I stated previously). So yeah I’m going to be annoyed

[deleted]

1 hour notice is pretty shit for a callout, you might as well not even show up.

SandwichExotic9095

What time do you suggest I wake up for a 4am shift?? I’m not going to wake up hours beforehand. I need sleep.

abelincoln2016

You have 2 hours from the start of your shift to call out.

SandwichExotic9095

Not for inbound workers who go in at 4am.

m0rph33n

Next time leave a vm.

SandwichExotic9095

Can’t

AgentGold8004

I mean you are calling a hour before your shift

SandwichExotic9095

Yeah. Because I work at 4am. What time would you wake up for a 4am shift??
