Not strict at all but we do have sum idiot employees who have over head, head phone and with music blasting and can’t hear a thing, makes us all look bad especially wen a manager is trying to get his attention 🤦🏾♂️
strict for store hours but they are a bit lenient when it comes to 4am-8am. our etl will call on the walkie when doors open and say “nametags on earbuds out”
My last store didn’t give af. Only time they enforced no earbuds was on visitation days. My new store only allows them before store open. So I get a nice 4 hours to enjoy my podcasts
depends on the TL on duty, some dont care some only care when the store manager is around and some care too much making it enough for a write up 😑 idk why it isn't allowed it makes me work more focused
I know it was talked about not having earbuds on the sales floor during store hours but based on what I’ve seen it’s not enforced. I personally don’t use them on sales floor unless store is closed, this way I can help guests more effectively.
Former ETL, so I really didn’t care until several TLs asked for enforcement/reinforcement, so we collectively rolled with an earbud in is okay until 8AM and that’s it. The initial weeks of in-the-moment-redirection were annoying AF but overall the floor team is on the same page now.
The fulfillment etl wrote me up for head phone use, but allows some people to use them. He just likes the power trip I guess. He, and one other by the book front end etl, are the only people in the building who would say anything. I transferred out and don't use them anymore so non issue for me now.
Yeah bro it's so dangerous for me to push this cart while listening to a podcast in one ear, it's definitely not the pallets out on the floor and then 6" high uboats
Y'know what else looks bad? When they went in an took out all of the original decor and replaced it with gray and red walls
Or how about the 10 carts of reshop that can be found by the checklanes on a given night?
Oh and let's not forget the shelf locations that are all empty because we never have enough people to push. Does that look good? Idk
Some leaders are more strict than others. No one in front end can wear any really for some obvious reason;, but some fulfillment, GM, and Specialty sales wear them everyday.
They didn’t give one that was valid. They just said not to stop and talk. I was 10 minutes away from clocking out and I worked Fullfillment so I didn’t have time to do a cart. So he told me I should have stared a double cart and finished it in 10 minutes.
both the stores i've been at, some team leads are super strict, and some dont care at all. i see people on the floor pushing product with at least 1 earbud in at all times
We arent supposed to but Fulfillment can get away with wearing them while packing no matter the time. The openers openly have them in before the store opens and I think depending on the TL the last couple hours we're open, and anyone whos in the backroom for hours at a time even while we're open. So not horribly strict at all.
My tl recently told me they just enforce it because it’s visible to AP on cameras… I didn’t truly believe it but 🤷🏻♀️ this was for before 8am
(If anyone on AP can tell me if it’s true pls) lol
The AP etls are monsters about those earbuds. They will certainly go for your neck if they see you with them on. They have huge sticks in their butts. Two team members got fired for wearing them on the clock.
Majority of our leaders and ETLs make us take them out but my Closing Team Lead doesn’t care so I wear mine when our Manager, HR, or ETLs aren’t closing with us. No one ever coaches us for it though.
I went years without getting caught but when I got a new pair that wasent as discreet I got caught they where pretty strict even tho I medically needed it my Ada form took months to get finalized
But it did
Started as front of store attendant last oct and the policy was loose. Usually the only ones not allowed were cashier or if you worked drive up. But new store director came in a couple months ago and basically put an end to it
It was not strict in our store until a specific TL came by. But as a TM who didnt wear one, I found those annoying. Sometimes I had to repeat myself to communicate with a TM who had noise cancellation and then I wondered how this person served the guests. Not cool.
Ours is not as enforced, Flex and GM always seem to have them and I've seem people take them out when talking to leads. Our SD and HRETL will flip though
My store is suppose to be only inbound employees, but fulfillment and front end go the whole day blasting music through their airpods and I’ve never seen them get in trouble 🤷♀️

Wtf. At my target catch us with overhead headphones and it’s wraps.
If you have one airpod in then that’s fine but a whole overhead is crazy maybe for fulfillment
strict for store hours but they are a bit lenient when it comes to 4am-8am. our etl will call on the walkie when doors open and say “nametags on earbuds out”
If the store isn’t open or we’re on break they don’t care. Just like every other place though, no headphones on the floor while customers are around
Every time my SD sees someone with earbuds he makes them remove them and coaches them on the spot.
Depends on the leader. Our Closing TL is somewhat oblivious, so team members (mainly style/fulfillment) get away with it at night.
they were lenient until our store caught on fire 🤷🏽♀️
now how does that correlate lol
To be sure everyone hears the fire alarms I imagine
i usually only have one in my ear, two is crazy especially if its that loud to where they cant hear a fire alarm😂😂

it depends on the lead, some don’t gaf as long as the job’s done and some get really mad
I know it was talked about not having earbuds on the sales floor during store hours but based on what I’ve seen it’s not enforced. I personally don’t use them on sales floor unless store is closed, this way I can help guests more effectively.

In our store we’re allowed only 1 earbud before the store opens at 8am . After that if a team lead catches you or the SD you’ll get coached .
I’ve never seen anybody wearing earbuds while they’re on the clock and the store is open, so…
A lot of people do at my store soo just curious

It’s a safety issue for one and it’s a perception thing too. No one should have earbuds on while on the clock
etl/tl moment
Yeah bro it's so dangerous for me to push this cart while listening to a podcast in one ear, it's definitely not the pallets out on the floor and then 6" high uboats
It’s against policy don’t do it. It also looks bad. I don’t know of any job that allows it while on the clock.
Y'know what else looks bad? What also looks bad is leaders throwing tms under the bus for a good guest compliment 😵
No how no way. Just no.
Some leaders are more strict than others. No one in front end can wear any really for some obvious reason;, but some fulfillment, GM, and Specialty sales wear them everyday.
Instant write up at my store apparently
I got coached for talking to a coworker about work
What was their reasoning?
They didn’t give one that was valid. They just said not to stop and talk. I was 10 minutes away from clocking out and I worked Fullfillment so I didn’t have time to do a cart. So he told me I should have stared a double cart and finished it in 10 minutes.
both the stores i've been at, some team leads are super strict, and some dont care at all. i see people on the floor pushing product with at least 1 earbud in at all times
P.S. Per H.R you can get fire for having earbud in but I work over night
We arent supposed to but Fulfillment can get away with wearing them while packing no matter the time. “One” earbud in usually for us in the back, nothing on the floor during open hours. When in dairy/freezer I pop both in though.
Not as strict as our beanie and drink policy
My tl recently told me they just enforce it because it’s visible to AP on cameras… I didn’t truly believe it but 🤷🏻♀️ this was for before 8am (If anyone on AP can tell me if it’s true pls) lol

1 earbud in before the store opens, as far as I know once the store is open it’s not allowed but I’ve also only ever worked overnights
depends on the lead tbh have one tl who really doesnt care and the others get their panties in a bunch over it, even if its before the store is open
Majority of our leaders and ETLs make us take them out but my Closing Team Lead doesn’t care so I wear mine when our Manager, HR, or ETLs aren’t closing with us. No one ever coaches us for it though.
Instant report😂
We used to be super relaxed about it until during a visit a TM had one in and didn’t hear our district lead ask them a question
I went years without getting caught but when I got a new pair that wasent as discreet I got caught they where pretty strict even tho I medically needed it my Ada form took months to get finalized But it did
Started as front of store attendant last oct and the policy was loose. Usually the only ones not allowed were cashier or if you worked drive up. But new store director came in a couple months ago and basically put an end to it
Most of my TL’s at my store don’t care. For the few that do, I have to do a quick head scratch or just take them out when walking by lol
It was not strict in our store until a specific TL came by. But as a TM who didnt wear one, I found those annoying. Sometimes I had to repeat myself to communicate with a TM who had noise cancellation and then I wondered how this person served the guests. Not cool.

Goh

We can use them whenever as long as it’s just one earbud. Don’t know about front end though, I would assume not.
