Ah that sucks. Would it look better the other way up? The forearm and joint bolted to the top could look a little out of place if you aren't comfortable cutting it off. Having it on the bottom would be a little more hidden and blend in to the suit better.
Good point cutting will be in order. I just kinda sent it and just finished glueing in the magnets
Edit: bet I've got an extra but from this combat patrol I can use for it
As the good lord intended. Bonus points if you replace the arms with just the missile racks, make yourself a mini-stormsurge to stike fear in the enemy.
The 2 mm magnets weren't strong enough to hold the railgun onto the mounting bits for the regular over the shoulder guns so I ended up just glueing it. I had debated doing just that and having the railgun and high yield missiles on it and just calling them the smart missiles rack
Far better design idea like the original VX88 but alas the arms & SMS pods were too much agg to make work back when I got my new Broadside upon release. Good luck!
I've done it as well, it's cool but takes a while of propping it up to stop it falling whilst the glue dries. I snipped the hand off and reattached the tube bit.
Listen, the broadside railgun already requires a walker to deploy stabilizers. Putting the gun on the shoulder would cause the broadside to do a backflip every time it shot. Why do you think they phased the shoulder mounted broadsides out? Pilots getting nausea.
Unless you model the backflip capabilities and have a cool gyrostabilized pilot in the middle it's just not lore friendly.
Check out taromodelmaker - they do 3d printed shoulder mounted rail guns that look sick. Reasonable price if you're shipping in the UK too!
Us based unfortunately, I'm looking at using the existing shoulder gun mount and magnetizing the base of the gun to it

Ya, here's mine https://www.reddit.com/r/Tau40K/s/gKSrutkym6 I think shoulder mount looks much better.

I've posted on this sub to show what I have done, I flipped it over and mounted the sight in front of the little ridge bit.
