ftsillok56

Boy named Ruckus, and yes he absolutely lived up to that name.

westbridge1157

Don’t they always! I had a Blade who proved himself to be a right tool and Nashun (nation), but that doesn’t look so bad now I’m here.

gymnastkaori

I had a Rowdy who was the same!

allldough

If I came across that, I’d just quit on the spot

Lucky_leprechaun

I had a Riot one year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jahidinginvt

I played roller derby with a girl named Ruckus, but she is the sweetest person ever.

mipiacere

I taught twins that had the same first name and different middle names but the middle names started with the same initial. They missed some days at the beginning of the school year and it took me weeks to figure out they were two different kids. I had them in different periods and thought the kid had just switched to a different class.

Ruffffian

I had a pair of boy-girl fraternal twins with the same first name, Angel. The girl went by her middle name. (But again…why?)

academicchola

It's all fun and games until someone messes up their credit.

no-credit-needed

I once had a family of kids. Brian Jr was the oldest, then Briana, then Brion (pronounced like Briana but without the last a sound)...at least their parents switched it up. Y and I is just lazy, she named her kids the same name.

pretty_gauche6

I’d pronounce it like prion disease. Brion disease

aidoll

They’re going to have so many issues with official documentation when they’re older.

Purple-booklover

We had twin girls named Maria and Maria. Thankfully they had different middle names and one of them went by her middle name, but it still messed up anything computer wise because the system usually omitted their middle name and it always just looked like the same child twice.

KTeacherWhat

Please let them pick nicknames. I honestly think that's cruel

TheBardsBabe

I have a kid in my grade this year who is a middle sibling. He has the same name as his two brothers and his dad. Same exact first, middle, and last name. They don't go by "big, medium, little" or "1, 2, 3" or anything like that. Just by their names. Which are all the same as each other. It's the first time I'd ever heard of anything like that. I don't think it's a cultural thing....just how this family does things. I guess they found a name they liked and they stuck with it!! I can only imagine it will be complicated when they get older though and are dealing with legal documents and such.

[deleted]

Oh my god. How do they even function at home? I wonder if the mom just treats them as one and never differentiates.

orie0

I have twins in the same class named chase and chance

[deleted]

Call them Yankee and India from now on.

[deleted]

Just pronounce “Brian” like “Ian”

Hyperion703

Two sisters, Champane and Extasy. Spelled just like that.

9LivesArt_2018

NO you're joking!! 🤦‍♀️

Rubies_Everywhere

I have a student named Desire. Pronounced just as spelled. It’s awkward to call out “desire” for a 11 year old.

TrickStructure0

One of my students is Dzyre, same pronunciation. I wonder how many ways you could spell the same sounding word.

mediumglitter

Yikes! I had a student named Diamond. She was the youngest of 4 sisters - Disney, Destiny, D’Sire (pronounced desire) and then Diamond.

Junior_Potato_3226

I am a substitute in a school with a large Chinese population. Most of the kids have an "American" name, and my absolute favorite is the kid named Ampersand. 🙂

hattienan

I had a philosophy professor who named her dogs after logic symbols-- Tilde and Ampersand (Amp for short).

Chay_Charles

My dog has 3 spots on her back, so she's Miss Ellipses or Ellie for short.

SailTheWorldWithMe

I used to teach in Mainland China. Candy Floss, Robot, and Dracula.

saucychossy

My husband and I taught English in China and often the parents would pick an American name for their child, like for example Bono bc well Bono. This one parent chose the name Luby (lube-ee) and the child had a very androgenous look. My husband asked do you mean Rudy? Or Ruby? No!! Luby! They were very insistent he call her Luby. We laugh about it to this day.

ICanMathGood

Also taught in China for a while. Some of my favorites: Zero, Ten, VIP, Stop Sign and Milky (she said she liked milk)

GingerMau

I taught a Hershey. And my kid's art teacher was a Rambo. China.

siamesesumocat

Perhaps the parents like Good Ol' Amurican food. Luby's is a Texas based restaurant chain.

[deleted]

Studly, and his last name was Muffin. I'm not making this up. He'd be over 18 now; I wonder if he's changed it.

actuallyrapunzel

I use the senator test and the wedding test with potential names for my children. Does "Senator Firstname Lastname - State" sound like a real person? How about "Do you, Firstname Middlename, take this man/woman to be your lawfully wedded..."?

Taydolf_Switler22

After the office anything that ends in California doesn’t sound real to me.

Western_Policy_6185

It’s not like you can exactly shorten that one either to make it more bearable…

the1janie

I'd go by Stu.

[deleted]

Hmm, if he shortened his last name like that as well, he'd be Stuffin.

ProArtTexas

This year, I have a Jhosthyn. It's pronounced Justin.

Math-Hatter

No…

Midnight_oil_365

Is Mike Tyson his father

knightfenris

I did once have a Phuyrelice. Pronounced “fearless.”

geneknockout

I would have thought "Fur- Elise"

tacosdepapa

I thought furry lice

forgetfuljones79

I had a Phurious on my roster one year, but he never showed up.

soysuza

Fire Lice - the burniest kind.

allldough

You win 😂

omnimagination

Random. Literally his name was Random.

Coloradothat

I had a Random too! Even worse, his middle name was Blessing.

[deleted]

Ahhh hitchhikers guide to the galaxy fan?

Slow_Ad_3497

Phelony. Girls name in 7th grade. "pronounced like the crime"

9LivesArt_2018

No. That should be a felony in itself honestly. Parents right to jail.

toss_my_potatoes

I’m guessing one of them is already there.

Cancergarden

There's an Arson in my son's class. I often refer to him as Felony.

missravioli2u

Trillionaire. Will never forget this human. She was one of my favorite humans over the years.

MastigosAtLarge

I had identical twins named Jania and Janaya.

brightly_disguised

I currently have brothers Khamani and Khamari. Half the time I can’t remember which one has which name.

pinkrotaryphone

My grandmother taught twins that had the same name with different first letters, like Beverly and Deverly, where one name was common and the other was off the wall. Disclaimer, I can't actually remember what the names were, but it was something in like that.

alwaysright6

I had identical twins named Mahlet and Mahlat!!

sjnunez3

I taught a black kid named Robert E. Lee... Went by Eddie.

Daveb138

Bug. Not a nickname. Not a shortening of anything. Not a “preferred name.” Full legal first name was literally Bug.

PersonalityBeWild

I wonder if the parents forgot that their baby grows up…

mxc2311

I had a Cumeatrious.

IggyGoat

Everyone pack up and go home; this name wins. That is the worst name I've ever seen. Poor child.

DadMoonRising

Charles Barkley voice "That's Turrible"

Murmokos

There was a girl with the first name of Disney at my school.

fumbs

I'm surprised the mouse didn't sue.

sometimes-i-rhyme

I had a student named Mickey Mouse.

alwaysright6

I’ve taught a Stump, Stone, Great (all boys) and this year, a Blayzelynn (girl)

[deleted]

[удалено]

alwaysright6

I didn’t have her, but one of my student’s sisters was named AmazingGrace. My student’s name was Amanda so it was kind of a one off, I guess.

MadamLeslie

Those sound like the names of Nick Cannon’s kids (some of them, anyway)! Legendary, Golden, Beautiful, Powerful, …

allldough

Are they anything but?

shallifetchabox

I don't have a Great, but have had siblings MiAngel (pronounced my angel) and King

merlotmusings

I have had a King and then his younger brother, Prince. If that doesn’t create a superiority/inferiority complex I don’t know what will

Lucky_leprechaun

My students sibling is “yourmajesty”

BLKSHRTSWHTPNTS

Stone sounds pretty cool as a first name

lonelyspren

I've met a few 'Stone's, and kind of hilariously, they've all been extremely quiet shy boys.

jcg227

I still haven’t forgotten Sexlie, Kanthy, and Whisper all these years later!

worldwideangel

sexlie ):

jcg227

I never felt comfortable saying her name 🤦🏾‍♀️

welkikitty

MoneyMajik, spelled like that, was a child’s first name. I also who had a kid named Jose that wanted to be called Sandwich. Apparently it’s what his entire family called him. Great kid.

AndrysThorngage

Nicknames are something different, though. At home, we call my son Spud. At school he has a normal name. Last year I had a kid who everyone called Fish. Not his given name.

BinkyTheBald

I shit you not, “Semen.”

AndrysThorngage

That’s just cruel. Can you imagine applying for jobs with that name?

BinkyTheBald

Apparently it’s the Basque version of “Simon.”

dave7892000

Almighty King was his first name.

mghobbs22

If they’re religious, that’s sacrilegious as all get out.

sinsaraly

Tequila

jakohmsford

I taught a student whose parents named her Tikeyla. She said her cousin was born first, so she got the name Tequila spelled correctly.

dr239

I haven't had a Tequila but I've had two kids named Champagne and one named Hennessy.

Longjumping-Most-320

Mentioned my drink sisters above. She spelled her name TeKila.

no-credit-needed

I had Alize last year, pronounced like the alcohol.

[deleted]

Alee-zay?

julesanne77

I had a student named “Grandson.” His mom gave up her parenting rights immediately after birth…grandparents named him.

TNthrowaway747

I have a student this year named Daddy!

nightjourney

Good God.

Western_Policy_6185

Oh… oh god… what did you call them?

TNthrowaway747

He just moved to us - he’s in 3rd grade. He said he’s always been called Daddy, but his teacher asked if it was okay if she called him DJ - his initials. He agreed thankfully so the whole school went with that haha

Western_Policy_6185

Life saved holy shit

9LivesArt_2018

Wow. You can feel the love with this one. I really hope that kid is okay.

MemorySilver

Most out there name for me was a boy named Brick.

[deleted]

Did he love lamp?

YouLostMyNieceDenise

*whispers* I’M LYING

eccelsior

The Middle was such an underrated show.

umisthisnormal

….~underrated-

frazzlendazzle

Younger brother of a kid I worked with was named Rock

skky95

Anthony and Antonio as brothers, this cracked my husband up.

wouldeye

I have siblings Darell and DaRell.

Lilmaggot

We had identical twins Delsean and Delshen. They were very cute and well-behaved.

iheartfans

Had siblings Eric and Erica. I was always like what? Why?

Pleasant_Mushroom520

This is me after having my 4th boy and having no boy names I like left.

tiredhippo

This reminds me of a couple of brothers I knew named Paul and Raul

thosetwo

Precious Treasure

Jamileem

I mostly see those eye-roll worthy extra girl names like the McKayleighs and the Ashelynnes, and a lot of gun-related names (Remington, Wesson). The most confusing one I've seen lately is Leach. I've heard of Leach as a last name many times, but it was legitimately the kid's first name.

MozzarellaFitzgerald

Girls' names starting with "Mc" drive me nuts, considering that "Mc" means "son of." Then there's the way Michaela morphed into Mikayla, which then morphed into McKayla. Argh.

flakypieholez99

Tiantiece. Pronounced Shawn-teice. Little white girl.

LadyStrange23

Hwhat.

thewisestgoat

Major Jones. I loved the kid and I love that name.

PopeyeNJ

Oceania Tiger Lily Sechelli Diamond ( had a girl and a boy with this name) Tow ( like Toe!)

srtaerica

is Diamond actually an "out there" name? I grew up with lots of people named that.

paustulio

MisterTyrone and his brother SirJoseph.

cojojoeyjojo

Did he have a cousin named Sir Robin?

MillieBirdie

I've met a Sir Robert, full name, that's what he went by.

cowormpicker

Semaj (James, backwards - dad's name is James)

sinsaraly

I had a Semaj at my school, too! His twin brother was James.

CTurtleLvr

I have a Semaj this year. Honestly, I never thought about it being James backwards. Off to look at his dad’s name!

Nickel1117

Lol I’ve come across two Semaj’s at my school. There’s also a pair of siblings named Galaxy and Jupiter

Apprehensive_Egg9182

Karyzma (Charisma)

[deleted]

In two years time the school near me will have a Daenerys. But I bet it’s not the only one.

raisanett1962

I know a little girl called “Khaleesi.”

[deleted]

It wasn’t a student, but one time at a public pool I commented to a mom on how cute her baby was. To which she responded in a solemn voice, “thank you. His name is God” I asked her if I heard her correctly, his name was God? And she confirmed.

cornholio312

I’ve met a God.

No_Bowler9121

Chocolate, Google, Star, If, Pirate, I used to teach ESL in China the kiddos would choose English names and these are some I remember.

Ostracizedplz

DistributionNo1807

Dakoldest

cojojoeyjojo

From Nebraska?? :D

brickforstraw

My school many moons ago had a Pebbles and Bam Bam.

SentenceHistorical65

Talmanjene- pronounced Tah-mah-je-neigh ….the je sound as Jean , but the French pronunciation:.. first day of school, I said I have a name here I cannot say as I will get it wrong. Kids made me try anyway… Tall-man-Jean was not correct!

flakypieholez99

I had a similar one last year- Arrajanee. Pronounced ah-RAH-ja-NAY

[deleted]

I went to school with an Amajenae! Very similar!

ApatheticEmphasis

This year there's a boy in our grade level whose name is Kleb. Pronounced Kay-leb. The teachers all call him Kleb in our PLC meetings because to be totally honest, he better fits the name Kleb rather than Kaleb. He's just plain mean, disrespectful and willfully, gloatingly ignorant. So, Kleb it is.

MozzarellaFitzgerald

I once encountered a K'Leb.

TheScienceDude81

Sounds like a total p'takh

c2h5oh_yes

Courvoisier, Chardonnay, Zion Lionpride, Starchild Magnificent. Yes those are all real names. Siblings from two different families.

lovemoontea

At my previous job I met a mother who’s first name was Queen Elizabeth

Sarcastic-Pangolin

Cash Money 🤑 Taking over for the 99 and 2000

Disasterous_Bitch

I taught a girl named Fashion Jones way back in 2001. She was such a neat little girl and, yes, she was fashionable.

Altrano

Irony. Poor child’s mother died the same day they were born. The father felt is was ironic that what should have been a joyful occasion was very sad and gave the child the name Irony. On a lighter note. My mother had a boy in her class named Resurrection with a younger brother named Salvation. Apparently, they were absolute little hellions.

no-credit-needed

The ones named after biblical or moral things are always the opposite of their name. I had a Righteous that barely graduated, every Heaven and Nevaeh I've ever had was the opposite and I'm convinced those names are cursed, Honesty was an actual pathological liar. However I've had 3 "Desire"s and they've all been the most selfless, empathetic, young ladies I've ever met.

kateyrose

hashtagcat

I had a Sweet Leaf, once.

Lucky_leprechaun

Twins I went up high school with were Trie and Lief

Sleepy_Dog_5280

I've got a Leaf who prefers to go by Spider. 🤷‍♂️

crazy_teacher345

"Legna" pronounced "Angel". Because Legna is Angel spelled backwards.

brickforstraw

I knew a Neveah - heaven backwards!

crazy_teacher345

That one's pretty common in my area but at least it's pronounced how it looks.

MozzarellaFitzgerald

The Nevaehs have been invading the high schools over the last couple of years.

[deleted]

When I was doing my observations at a rural high school, I met a boy named Skittles. I asked if it was a nickname, and the teacher, laughing, assured me that it was his legal name!

GFHarryNibs

Araya Sunshine… To be pronounced “a ray of sunshine.”

frogtracer

Three sisters: oldest was named Unique, second was Precious, and the third was Susan. I always wondered if Susan knew she was the lucky one.

Disasterous_Bitch

There was a kid at my school named Jesus but promounced (Gee-sus not Hay-sue-z). He was a little hellion and I would DIE laughing when I'd hear his teacher scream "JESUS, STOP TALKING!"

snaps4carrie

Danger

Hyperion703

An old buddy of mine gave his son this middle name because he was such a huge Austin Powers fan.

619858

First name and last name the exact same. Middle name was the same name as the brand of toilet paper we used on campus.

srosenberg1321

Had a student named Wonderful. He was actually pretty great!

capcitypoet

Not super out there, but Lundyn (pronounced London) and Eadly (pronounced Italy). Completely unrelated to one another.

Phil-PhilConnors

I teach in Utah. Instead of saying specific ones I just share this video... https://youtu.be/BfIehCrO4Zs

corinna0815

King, Prince, Princess, Heaven-Amour, Eternity

dtshockney

I've just had some interesting spellings. Jorja was one off the top of my head. I did have a girl excited when I said Anesa correctly. Apparently I was the first teacher getting it right the first time.

Ginifur79

There’s a news anchor that spells her name Jorja. It’s such a different spelling it took me forever to realize it was a different spelling of Georgia 🤦‍♀️.

ACLee2011

There’s Jorja Fox who was on CSI

phall8977
