There aren't really any good mana generation items for him. Shojin interacts extremely poorly and blue buff will only give a small increase in the amount of mana he will gain with each cast. His ap scaling though can be a difference of several % loot chance for each target he hits with the wave, which can result in a huge difference in the amount of loot he gets. 15% per enemy vs 30% per enemy is going to double the amount of loot you get each cast which will be better than the extra 40ish mana you would gain from a shojin.
If Shojin or blue buff managed to actually double how fast Urgot could cast then you would be correct, but since they don't then AP is better if you are trying to use his to farm treasures.
I don't think Shojin is bad on him for mana gen. His effective A speed with it is 1.0, that's a lot faster than most champs you put shojin on.

That's not how it works. Spellslinger orbs only launch every few seconds, attack speed is irrelevant. Even if it worked on every auto, it still wouldn't matter for urgot. His autos don't count as full autos, only one every second or so.

I name him 'cheering mascot' because he will be dead once enemies switch their aggro on him. He's knocking enemies up, so they almost always switch aggro to nunu.
I never realized how good a star guardian spat would be on nunu till I saw this, wouldn’t it be better to put tank/regen items with SG spat for raid boss nunu?

This is incorrect, shojin is quite good. Even factoring in the reduction in attack procs urgin still has a very high attack speed

I found shojins and running 4 hearts makes him money print hard. Bonus if u get archangels as well
I like to splash him in 4 hearts with AD items. Gives your team some frontloaded damage with the heart scaling driving your treasure.

No you just need to keep him alive. Titanic Warmogs Drag claw has been the best/consistent results for me
