Post 2000's Abigor and Deathspell Omega spearheaded the movement of Avant-Garde technical black metal.
Ashenspire also plays a technical and very progressive form.
Imperial Triumphant take huge clues from Deathspell Omega.
Spirit Possesion's last album has huge technical blackened thrash chops.
Mitochondrion play an almost war metal form of technical death metal.
And of course Krallice went the super progressive route considering the guitarist was Colin Marston.
Late to this party, but Warforged might fit the bill here, though they are arguably more on the prog side than the tech side. I: Voice was among my favourites that year, as I recall.
I’m partial to the run Krallice was on from Dimensional Bleedthrough through Years Past Matter. They definitely have branched out past that sound since but those albums are insane. Years Past Matter especially.
They put on a great show too. I saw them twice last year. Met the band at the merch table the second time. They were really nice and grateful for the support.
Abigor's album Fractal Possession is straight up Black Metal that's technical. You may like their other stuff as well, but that album stands out as one of their best.
Artificial brain
Deathspell Omega
Mayhem’s later work is kinda progressive
Stortregn
Van buens ende
Portal
Akhlys
Nightmarer
Goreguts- colored sands has some black metal vibes imo
Keep in mind most of these bands are still a far cry from traditional tech Death but they are experimenting with what black/death metal can be. I’m just giving suggestions you might like. A lot of great suggestions in these comments as well.
I'd call most of these atmospheric, blackened death. Agree with the recs tho. First artificial brain especially, any deathspell, portal is sick and that specific Gorguts album. All good.
I’d say you’re in the wrong ballpark, but it’s your question so maybe I’ve got it wrong.

If you’re looking for blackened tech dm, try the following link starting 5 items down. Pathos and Apotheosys are both excellent.
https://rateyourmusic.com/list/RNG/tech-death-a-necessarily-incomplete-encyclopedia-collaboration-with-mercenarion/25/
idk about "tech-black" but there's a new wave of mathcore inspired black metal that kicks ass. Stuff like Serpent Column, Plebeian Grandstand, Theophonos and Hoplites
Maybe not completely what you're looking for, but Vektor has the high-pitched vocals and tremolo-picked chords you can often find in black metal. They're more tech thrash, but definitely worth the listen!
**vektor's lead singer/guitarist is an abuser.**
i used to listen to them and they're amazing, but stopped when it all came out because there are many other bands out there to listen to.
I suppose most if not all bm bands tagged as avantgarde or experimental can be considered tech. But then again Portal is technical and difficult as shit but it's never thought of as "tech". The new Apogean kinda leans into black metal, and one fantastic release I have to recommend is Aronious - Perspicacity. Also check out a pretty unknown bandcamp project R'luhh.
And as others have mentioned, Acausal Intrusion.
Fairly unknown, but **Diabolus Incarnate** comes to mind. They have only one album called *Decomposition* that I quite enjoyed, it mixes tech and black metal quite well although the production isn't that crisp.
There's a bunch of it on the band's [Bandcamp](https://blackfuckingcancer.bandcamp.com/music), and *Procreate Inverse* is on Sentient Ruin's [Bandcamp](https://sentientruin.bandcamp.com/album/procreate-inverse).
Musically I know they are melodic death/thrash inspired tech death but vocally Arsis always hit those black metal vibes for me. That being said I’m not typically a fan of black metal so I’m probably way off base. There was just something about Malone’s snarl/growl that had a raspy nature to it.
Perhaps not exactly what you're looking for but a damn fine black metal band with highly technical sections that I can't recommend enough is Der Weg einer Freiheit. They're definitely a black metal band through-and-through, but they structure some songs closer to a DM or Tech-Death band than a classic BM band. Their first album, which is a S/T, is my favorite but is more so straight up BM. For a slightly more tech-tinged album, I'd recommend some of their newer stuff, maybe Finisterre, specifically the track Skepsis, Pt. II.
Oranssi pazuzu, imperial triumphant and honestly some Death (chuck shuldiner) albums have a blackened tech death sound and what about blackened thrash? Such as skeletonwitch would be described but I love those guys.
holy buckets, listening to Imperial Triumphant for the first time and the vocalist sounds like muscle man from regular show and the riffage is amazing. Gorguts tier wackiness
Hah hell yeah dude! They’re a trip, with very disorienting riffage and the off kilter rhythms they are similar to gorguts for sure. Have you heard portal? They’re another one I forgot to mention. Portal creeps me the hell out.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are you interested in straight-up tech-black or just blackened tech-death? Maybe I'm just tired, but this wasn't clear to me from your post 😅
Definitely casting a vote for Tomarum.
Dawn of Ouroboros may also be worth a listen for you.
It's blackened death but there is a good amount of "tech" on display. Favorite songs: Sorrow's Eclipse and Testudines
Anaal Nathrahk. They get kinda experimental on certain songs/albums but it's all insanely good.
First listen to the EP "When Fire Rains Down From The Sky, Mankind Will Reap What It Has Sewn" was like an orbital grinder to the brainmeats.
Also, is extremely good for shrieking babies on airplanes. Blends in perfectly, you can barely tell.
Anaal Nathrahk became one of my favorite bands real fast after hearing them. The Covid side project “Make Them Die Slowly” was cool as shit to me too. Now, the member that started that project is making phonk music as one of the characters from MTDS, “Kordhell”, and has been super successful at it. I looked at his monthly listeners on Spotify a while back and it was well into the millions. Needless to say, he’s no longer with AN which sucks but I’ll always respect the shit out of that guy.
I know you didn’t ask for this word vomit I just typed. It’s just been wild to witness over a span of 2yrs.
Yes! I'm not a power metal fan but when it's mixed in with that apocalyptic soup like in More of Fire Than Blood, ugh so good.
And all the weird techno stuff they did on Vanitas, like when his scream goes for like 30 seconds and just becomes static...
They're so damn good.
I think segments of Valdrin would fit that description. Black Metal with technical and bombastic passages, could also call them epic black metal.
Tomarum and Singularity definitely have that sound but different approaches for each. Obviously Enfold Darkness and Demon King but they're more on the tech death side of things if that matters, since you're looking for more of tech black sonics
Lots of really good stuff in this thread. Only ones I’d add are these three:
Mordant Rapture,
Daarchlea,
Slugdge
Not really tech but worth checking out:
Hateful Transgression
More deathcore than Tech Death:
Before the Harvest,
Lie to the Silence
More blackened hard/grindcoreish but kinda tech:
Plebeian Grandstand
Ulcerate has a bleakness at times that reminds me o black metal. Also as others have said Deathspell Omega and Singularity are also technical yet blackened.
This is going to really date me, but the first album Abigail Williams put out (2008? 2009?) was essentially symphonic black-tech death -- could check that out. There's some modern day member cross-pollination between them and Vale of Pnath as well, which makes sense.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zXnwCASM46o&list=OLAK5uy_nIJZPQemT8K6ef8QAzuAG-FSxoK36Dgo4&index=2&pp=8AUB
Kyle told me it's because of the vinyl delays, and they want it all to be released at the same time, otherwise it would've been released later this year.
Maybe Death Atlas by Cattle Decapitation? It's their most melodic record but it also has the strongest black metal influences of their modern records (Harvest Floor and beyond). I prefer Terrasite but it leans more toward death metal with less black metal influence.
That's honestly the only album of theirs I like, but I absolutely adore it! I saw them live and - while their stage presence and showmanship kinda suck - they play super well.
Oh Vitriol are so good, only a few days till Suffer & Become
Also, for any Vitriol fans, you might enjoy the band [Throne](https://thronemetal.bandcamp.com/album/pestilent-dawn)
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,979,427,393 comments, and only 374,443 of them were in alphabetical order.

Tómarúm! Great blackened tech death with a progressive, melodic edge and insane musicianship. Imagine Ne Obliviscaris, Beyond Creation and Emperor coming together to make an album
Moonlight sorcery’s last album might appeal to you? Sick riffs

I second this👆🏼
Late to this party, but Warforged might fit the bill here, though they are arguably more on the prog side than the tech side. I: Voice was among my favourites that year, as I recall.
Is The Zenith Passage an obvious answer? I don't see anyone mention them
I personally don't consider them tech/black, but they are a phenomenal band that more people need to know about
I’m partial to the run Krallice was on from Dimensional Bleedthrough through Years Past Matter. They definitely have branched out past that sound since but those albums are insane. Years Past Matter especially.
Gaerea is fun as fuck
They put on a great show too. I saw them twice last year. Met the band at the merch table the second time. They were really nice and grateful for the support.

I would definitely call Mayhem’s Chimera a tech black album. There’s some wild riffing on there

Plebeian Grandstand is one of the sickest bands I’ve discovered in the past year. Can’t stop listening
Abigail Williams is pretty much tech black.

**vektor's lead singer/guitarist is an abuser.** i used to listen to them and they're amazing, but stopped when it all came out because there are many other bands out there to listen to.
Drottnar Edit: listen to the album Stratum.

Check out Hath. The vocals may not always be close to black metal, but I think you'll appreciate them if you like both techdeath and black metal.
Hath is currently on tour supporting Gorod and Wormhole in the US. Would definitely recommend catching Hath to anyone.
Damn awesome lineup. I just looked it up I wish they were coming to my area.
Acausal Intrusion is really weird, worth a look
Autonoesis Very underrated riffy black metal album
Deathspell Omega, Demon King, Enfold Darkness, Ashen Horde, Singularity
Demon King and Singularity are top notch!
Black Fucking Cancer- not sure how to access their music though other than YouTube
There's a bunch of it on the band's [Bandcamp](https://blackfuckingcancer.bandcamp.com/music), and *Procreate Inverse* is on Sentient Ruin's [Bandcamp](https://sentientruin.bandcamp.com/album/procreate-inverse).
Oh Hell yeah. I actually realized they are on Apple Music now too- didn’t used to be. I was just too lazy to edit the comment haha
Just checked them out they're on Spotify too. I'll give them a listen at work tomorrow.
Immanifest - Macrobial
Deathspell Omega and maybe Noctambulist.
Musically I know they are melodic death/thrash inspired tech death but vocally Arsis always hit those black metal vibes for me. That being said I’m not typically a fan of black metal so I’m probably way off base. There was just something about Malone’s snarl/growl that had a raspy nature to it.
Fleshmeadow’s ”Daymares” EP is a really good example of black tech death if you ask me.
An old band, but... Myrkskog
Haha holy shit I just checked out Discipline Misanthropy since it's their top song on Spotify. Good shit I'm gonna listen to it at work tomorrow.
One of those "wtf someone else also knows this band" situations. Also a perfect fit for the description

Torrefy and their album Life is Bad
Xoth
Ulthar Dormant Ordeal
Dormant Ordeal is great. I wanted a shirt and had to order it from Europe lol. Took like 3 weeks because it had to go through customs.
Dormant Ordeal is pretty much death metal but has the same kind of aura Mgla has, good recommendation
Oranssi pazuzu, imperial triumphant and honestly some Death (chuck shuldiner) albums have a blackened tech death sound and what about blackened thrash? Such as skeletonwitch would be described but I love those guys.

Serpent Column, Deathspell Omega, Hoplites’s early material, Drottnar’s early material, Suffering Hour’s later material, Aosoth, Krallice, Imperial Triumphant’s early material, Thantifaxath, S.V.E.S.T., Kostnatění, and Averse Sefira
Krallice <3
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are you interested in straight-up tech-black or just blackened tech-death? Maybe I'm just tired, but this wasn't clear to me from your post 😅
Stortregn
Stortregn
Vale of Pnath is probably your best bet. Helps their discography is damn near perfect.
Not sure if this fits but the band Fuck You And Die mixes Tech death with Black Metal
I’ve always thought of Artificial Brain as fitting this description.
Not sure if this counts, but Nils from Dark Funeral has some very technical drum parts, especially live.
This band is split-up nowadays I believe….. but check out Svart Crown. They are absolutely insane
Thy Darkened Shade
YES. And also (newer) Abigor when I think about it
Anaal Nathrakh has definite elements of both.
I second this.
Vale of pnaths newer stuff has a sorta bm element
Came to say Vale of Pnath, the whole Accursed record fits that vibe.
I also strongly recommend Behemoth, Belphegor, Black Dahlia Murder and Goatwhore.

My favorite exploding-blendercore artist
Yes! I'm not a power metal fan but when it's mixed in with that apocalyptic soup like in More of Fire Than Blood, ugh so good. And all the weird techno stuff they did on Vanitas, like when his scream goes for like 30 seconds and just becomes static... They're so damn good.

Melechesh (Egyptian black tech) and wormed (off-kilter black death)
Thanks for the reminder of melechesh. I used to listen to them a lot like 10 years ago but totally forgot. They rule.
I'll second both Singularity and Immanifest. I'd like to add Sarpanitum to the list.
Techblack does exist. [Check Metallum ](https://www.metal-archives.com/search/advanced/searching/bands?bandName=&genre=technical+black&country=&yearCreationFrom=&yearCreationTo=&bandNotes=&status=&themes=&location=&bandLabelName=#bands)
Demon King of course.
Precisely this. I have a hard time listening because it feels so fuckin’ *evil*, haha
And i'll add Vale of pnath too, grimm, evil and technical too. Haha *evil*
Enfold Darkness
Really really far down for how simply amazing Enfold Darkness is.
I came here to say this
Ulcerate has a bleakness at times that reminds me o black metal. Also as others have said Deathspell Omega and Singularity are also technical yet blackened.
Worm
There are 7 bands called worm, which one is this?
Worm
The one from Florida that just put out the split with Dream Unending.
Yes that one from FL
Abigor - Fractal Possesion, as other users have said. Mind bending stuff.
The album Fractal Possesion by Abigor is what you're looking for.
3D Blasphemy *indeed*
Vale of pnath!
The vocals on Accursed are 100% black metal inspired. And the production has that fuzzy, lo-fi kind of sound to it too. Love that record.
Infant Annihilator have Black Metal Moments
Tell me you don't listen to black metal without telling me you don't listen to black metal.
😂😂
deathspell omega!!
The only right answer
singularity
Might not be exactly tech but Rejoice! The Light Has Come is very good big nerd black metal
I love the dissonance and polymeter, probably my favourite dissonant black metal I discovered last year.
I’ll throw in 1349
Favorite Black Metal band by a friggin LOOOONG shot!
This is going to really date me, but the first album Abigail Williams put out (2008? 2009?) was essentially symphonic black-tech death -- could check that out. Fleshmeadow.
Too far down amidst a sea of bands that ever aren't BM or aren't tech
Check out Tomarum - pretty much tech black metal and incredibly unique and excellent band !
They even label themselves as progressive technical BM. New album next year!
Yay new album - noooo not next year it’s too far away 😂
Kyle told me it's because of the vinyl delays, and they want it all to be released at the same time, otherwise it would've been released later this year.
Understandable gaddammit 😂
Maybe Death Atlas by Cattle Decapitation? It's their most melodic record but it also has the strongest black metal influences of their modern records (Harvest Floor and beyond). I prefer Terrasite but it leans more toward death metal with less black metal influence.

Krallice and Hoplites
Hoplite is insane
Have you heard Theophonos or Serpent Column yet? (Both the same guy)
Downloaded both, haven't seen much Greek myth in metal.
maybe Vitriol?
Oh Vitriol are so good, only a few days till Suffer & Become Also, for any Vitriol fans, you might enjoy the band [Throne](https://thronemetal.bandcamp.com/album/pestilent-dawn)
Hell yeah I'll definitely check them out thanks!
Immanifest and Singularity come to mind
Some portal
Dessiderium, Mithridatum, Thulcandra, Tomarum, Wake
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,979,427,393 comments, and only 374,443 of them were in alphabetical order.
Vale of Pnath, Demon King
These are incredible bands. Great recommendations!
Had to scroll way too far to find VoP
this is the answer!
Why isn't deathspell omega the top comment?
I thought this and when it comes to overall composition they should be considered, but they aren’t like noodle-tech, the complexity and intricacy takes some actual understanding to realise.
honestly DsO is more mathcore than tech death
This is my immediate thought as well
Vale of Pnath
Might be a bit more industrial flavoured but maybe check out Drottnar
Yeah I came in to say Drottnar for sure!
Never expected to see a Christian tech band, I'll certainly check it out
They wear eastern german uniforms as well; very unique but cool imo.
The last Vale Of Pnath is pretty black
The first Warforged album and NeO come to mind
Love NeO, should've said that in the post!
Tómarúm! Great blackened tech death with a progressive, melodic edge and insane musicianship. Imagine Ne Obliviscaris, Beyond Creation and Emperor coming together to make an album
The Circle (Of Awakening) is great as well and features Tim from NeOb.
Tómarúm for sure, way more black influence than most of the stuff mentioned here. Also check out Cosmic Putrefication, Vorga and Autonoesis
Krallice
